Technician arrived on time and was very personable, but he was not familiar with Mendota gas fireplaces and claimed that because the thermocouple was "welded" to the pilot assembly the entire assembly would need to be replaced at a cost of about $700. When we found the part online for about $140, he explained that the other $560 or so was for labor. Also offered to install new "embers" in fireplace for about $100 extra. We ended up deciding to write off the $99 spent on the Nice Home Services Angie's List deal and hiring another highly-ranked fireplace company, who properly diagnosed the issue as the thermocouple only (which, I guess, wasn't welded to the assembly after all) and charged $329 parts and labor to replace the part, thoroughly clean the fireplace and glass, and install new embers. As mentioned the technician was prompt and a nice guy, but I wouldn't use this company again.

Purchased Angie's Big Deal for gas fireplace tuneup. Appointment was made for the first available slot which was very soon. Scheduling and notification were easy, good and efficient. Technicians arrived on time, both times. First visit was ok, lit pilot light, clean pilot ignition, logs and rearrange embers. The technicians put on booties and cleaned up when they were finished. I received an online report with photos. A few days after, I called Nice Home again concerned about a gas leak. I asked if they could send another technician to inspect for gas leaks as it was not done the first time despite my asking the technician to. The office did so without issue and scheduled the visit within a few days. The second technician Leo was very professional, got to work quickly and tested for gas leaks using two methods; with a detector and also conducted a bubble test. In addition to putting on booties, Leo also laid down a work carpet\sheet and inspected all parts of the fireplace with small torch (both were not done the first time as I provided the first technician with an led light to better see under the gas valve). He also explain possible wear and tear points and ballpark to budget for any future failures. There was no charge for this second visit. Very happy that Nice Home took care of that to ensure Customer Satisfaction.

Great. Tech placed covering on the floor, didn't make a mess, vacuumed up. I highly recommend them and will use them again if needed.

It took about 10 minutes and I was charged $359. The company is very expensive. Buyer beware!

When I called them I told them I also needed elements in the water heater replaced and I had two faucets that were leaking. They said that was fine, but when the technician came out he wasn't aware of that. The technician went out to the truck to get a pricing book. He explained they have flat rate pricing so to do the additional work it would be $500. I went online and looked at the price for a new water heater and that was $400, so knew that wasn't a good price. The technician worked with me on the price and I got all the work done for about $354. The work he did was good, but I don' t know if I was played or not. In addition, they did not perform the whole house inspection.

They were very professional in scheduling and calling to confirm/remind us of appointment. Technician arrived as scheduled and was very courteous. Was extremely neat and took pictures of what he was working on (important to get logs back in same positions) while he worked and provided them with a summary of the work performed. Got fireplace working but warned that pilot assembly could potentially go in the near future. Provided quote for repair if and when it goes, but since it was now working properly and could last a while longer, we mutually agreed to wait on the repair. There was no pressure at all. Very happy with service and would use them again. Angies list coupon for service worked great.

It went great. Chris was friendly and professional, very easy to work with. He answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. He took care to keep the house clean. He was even friendly with my (sometimes overly friendly) dog. He did not try to upsell me but did answer my questions about NICE's fireplace and HVAC annual maintenance plans and sent me quotes for those in a timely manner when requested. I have written $0.00 as the cost because I can't for the life of me remember what we were charged, nor can I find the record of it right now. If I am able, I will come back and edit the review when I find the cost.

Service technician was prepared, prompt and did an excellent job cleaning our fireplace. It looks and works like it is new.

The technician arrived as scheduled, and I received a call from the office to inform me when he left and on his way to the appointment. He was courteous, and there was no mess during or after his work. Everything was explained and my questions answered, He cleaned the gas fireplace, logs, glass, and best of all he did not leave or wrap up the job until he was 100% sure that everything was working safely and how it should. Would use the company again with no hesitation.

Considering the season was getting cold early, they gave me a timely appointment date. They emailed a picture of the service person coming to my house. Called to let me know he was on the way. He arrived on time. We discussed what the problem was. He gathered the pertinent information on the performance of my fireplace. He diagnosed the problem. We discussed the options and costs off repair. I selected an option and my fireplace is fixed. Fantastic. Would I called on Nice Home Services again? Yes I would.

The job was done properly and it took the guy 10 minutes to complete (he needed to borrow some of my tools to complete the job) and charged $300 for two very cheap parts the plumber ran over to Home Depot to get (probably cost him $5.00). Then they called me back 2 weeks later and said the part I needed had come in. When I asked for a refund I was told that it was a mistake, that the part had been installed (yeah, right!). The manager has no idea how to speak with customers and was no help. They shouldn't let him speak to clients! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!!!!

It took three visits, but I think the problem has been resolved. The first technician was not as proficient as the one that came out on December 24, hence the three visits. However, my sink now drains properly and no more water spills on the floor.They said that they had to snake from the roof but they ended up not doing that. That is what the extra $325 was for. I presume that the cost of what was done plus the $150 I paid through Angie's List covered everything?? I feel as if I paid extra money for nothing.

Javier, the employee, arrived within the timeframe. He put on booties to protect our carpet. He checked to make sure the fireplace was working then he started to work. As he worked, he took several photos of the fireplace. After he left, I received an email with a Detail Report and photos on his work. Our fireplace looks new ,and it is 18 years old. Nice Home Services and Javier did an amazing job.

Nice Home Services scheduled me promptly (after selecting them by purchasing the Angie's coupon for their services). Their employee arrived promptly (actually, early). He performed an inspection and determined why the fireplace was not working--placement of the remote mechanism inside the fireplace had damaged it. He replaced the mechanism and cleaned the gas grill itself. Nice's bill for all services was less than Brand X (the original installer--the guys who advertise heavily in each weekend Washington Post) wanted just for the service visit. I will definitely continue to use Nice going forward.

They came out and look at the fireplace first and said it was not a wood burning fireplace but was actually an unfinished gas fireplace. They set up an estimate for a week later for a crew to come by and give me an estimate on the installation of gas fire log. The next crew came by and said they would not be able to run a gas line for the gas log install because of some of the design limitations. They did however, locate a label on the front (hidden by the metal curtain before) that confirmed that the prefabbed firebox was actually a wood burning fireplace after all. I was grateful for that news because it meant I didn't need a costly gas log install after all. I am just waiting on an estimate to replace or repair the cracked rear panel of the firebox, as was my original intention.

They did a wonderful job! The technician was on time, cleaned everything and relit the pilot light and got my fireplace operational again (after having been turned off in the spring due to having the HVAC replaced in my home). After he was finished, he cleaned up all around the fireplace. He wore booties inside the house so not to track any dirt on my floors. This is the second year I have used them and second time having an annual inspection on my fireplace. I would highly recommend them.

Purchased Big Deal for gas fireplace cleaning and check. Leo arrived on time, was very pleasant and was very thorough cleaning my fireplace and vacuuming out the dust bunnies. ( I don't like to be poking around gas connections with a vacuum cleaner!) He cleaned the glass and the logs and replaced the embers. The fireplace looks "refreshed". Leo also called his office to get me a quote on some other work I will needing in the future around the house. Will definitely be using Nice Home Services again.
