They were here for about 2-3 days. They did a wonderful job! Since they did the work no water has come in. A few things were wrong, but they were good about correctly things. I need to have them come back because they need to redirect the water to the street instead of the driveway. I would definitely recommend them.

They are great and always quick. They are good people and very nice. They cleaned up beautifully which I really appreciated. So far, since they have solved the water proofing problems I had, I haven’t had any issues. They aren’t cheap, but they are worth every penny. I’m not saying they cost more than other companies because this kind of work is expensive. At the end of the day, not having to worry about water issues is worth every penny. They have saved us a lot of grief! Waterproofing your home is definitely worth it considering the stress and damage of a flood.
Description of Work: They have done work for me twice. About 4-5 years ago I started getting water in my basement and they put in two sump pumps for me. A few months ago, my drain wasn’t handling the water that was coming down the hill; they put in another sump pump. The cost was $18,500 for the basement and $9,000 for the one sump and the drain, but the prices could vary depending on your terrain and other factors.

Mid Atlantic rep did not explain all the "after" installation repairs that wasn't going to be included in estimate. This includes repairing the drywall that they cut or any drywall damage resulting from the jackhammers used. Ernesto Velasquez's team worked non-stop to finish the job to my satisfaction. I had to find a drywall repairman which I insisted that the cost be subtracted from the original contract or I was going to cancel. Ernesto's team, Sam, Wilmer, Gregorio and Agapito worked hard to make sure that I was satisfied with the job. I hope that Mid Atlantic is compensating this team well because it is Ernesto's team that makes sure the customer is satisfied with the work. Ernesto's team should receive a well deserved bonus because without them, Mid Atlantic wouldn't be in business. Ernesto's team does not clean up the dust or rocks that are dropped nor do they move the furniture back in a finished basement.

We have had a small problem with a crack in our basement with a little dampness recently. Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing was at a Fall Festival so we signed up for a free estimate. We have had 2-3 appointments so far and we will not be making any additional. They have been very insistent that both my husband and I be home. They did actually come for one appointment (after cancelling a couple days earlier) but it was 2 hours earlier than expected on a Sunday and it was at an inconvenient time. Just seems like a lot of hassle and odd business practices. From some other reviews, I think it is because they want an on-the-spot decision. The whole thing doesn't seem right so we won't even be getting an estimate.

First, Brent Brady, the inspector waited to come to my house until after I was home from work (8pm) and was there until 11pm. He thoroughly explained everything (in terms I could understand) that needed to be done and answered every question I had about the process. If I was willing to be on a standby list, he advised that it would be about $3,000 cheaper. The only thing i didn't like about that was I had to decide right then to go ahead with the project. (Normally, I would like to sleep on a decision involving this amount of money.) Even with a standby status, they were able to schedule 2-3 weeks in advance. However, the day before they were to start working they had to cancel because when they had gone for the work permit, they discovered that it would take 5 days to be issued. Not necessarily Mid-Atlantic's fault; they had never done work in my town before and apparently, all other jurisdictions approve the permits the same day. But Mid-Atlantic was able to reschedule when I had 2 days off in a row. The crew arrived pretty close to 8am. They were all very courteous and professional. They covered my floors from the front door to the basement and taped plastic across the doorways leading to the rest of my house. They jackhammered the basement floor all way around the perimeter walls and the placed piping in the trench with gravel on top of that. Every couple feet they also drilled small holes thru the walls so water could drain into the system, thus relieving pressure on the walls. Over top of the gravel was placed their patented hard plastic with channels in it. (Sorry, I can't remember the technical term for it). This piece of channeled plastic lays on top of the gravel and then goes up the wall about 8-10 inches. (It will be under the floor and behind your drywall.) The 'channels' are on the backside of the plastic, channeling the water into the piping below (the pipe has small holes in it allowing water to get in) which then flows into the sump pump they have also installed below the floor. From there the water is discharged from the house thru a dedicated discharge pipe. The crew also trenched just outside my sliding glass door, which is at the foot of cement steps, and installed a very nice-looking grate spanning the width of the door. Water collected here also drains into the system on the inside. This drain will catch all the water that the little 3 inch drain, also at the foot of the steps, cannot handle. It is this drain failing, and thus causing my basement to flood twice in a month, that prompted the waterproofing in the first place. Initially they tied the discharge pipe into the downspout, however, the crew was not aware that that downspout was my neighbor's, not mine. (I live in a middle unit townhouse.) When I let the company know this, Robert came back out about 2 weeks later and changed it. He even replaced the lower portion of my neighbor's rotten downspout with a new piece. Although it seems expensive, it is well worth the Peace of Mind. And, Mid-atlantic guarantees their system not only for as long as I own the house, but also for as long as the NEXT homeowner owns the house. The sump pump is guaranteed for 7 years. My experience with Mid-atlantic was extremely positive and encouraging.

After reading some horrendous reviews I cancelled my appointment for an estimate to repair a basement leak. As all the reviews indicated it is true this company will continually harass you calling all hours of the day and night, trying to pressure you into using their services. I have asked at least 5 times that they cease to call me and have threatened to sue them for harassment. Often they simply laugh. Telling them the work has already been performed works no better. Mid-Atlantic worked in the basement over a 3-day period, approx. 18 hours total. They removed cement floor close to basement walls on 2 full sides and about 1/3 of a third side of the basement and installed drainage system, including sump pump. They installed breathers near the top of those sides of walls so that air can get into the cinderblock walls and dry them out. After the County inspector had looked at the work, they re-installed cement where it had been removed. They installed plastic to cover up things that were in the basement so that they wouldn't get all covered with cement dust.and sealed off the steps to the second floor with plastic for the same reason so that dust wouldn't travel all around my house. They even cleaned a moldy corner of the basement! (I had expected that I was going to have to do that myself!) Workers were courteous, and everything was cleaned up before they left at the end of the job.

We are very sorry for your experience in trying to schedule your free home inspection. Because of the unnaturally wet spring, we became inundated with appointments. They were referred from our realtor, bought house in fairfax a year ago and noticed water coming in basement. Customer service when on the phone was great. Estimator showed up on time, quickly identified issue, and put up with our annoying dog very gracefully. He gave us the estimate immediately following his inspection, it seemed like a good price but we did not shop around. Work started several days later, system was installed in about 1.5 days. Basement was not really usable through this time The blasting for the floor trench was very loud, keep this in mind because they work until 8pm or later Install was done on time, there was a bit of miscommunication/lack of information on the inspection afterwards, but customer service folks at their office were apologetic and courteous throughout, it got done. System has been installed for a month, seems to be working great no issues. Our light in laundry room broke sometime during the install, not sure if it was their fault but they sent someone to look at it anyway, he ended up staying for 30 mins and telling me all about the drainage system, how to troubleshoot and maintain it, etc (I missed this the first time). He seemed genuinely excited and eager to tell me about it, even after they had sold it to me. He found the problem with the light too and had plenty of suggestions for how to fix it. Can't say enough about the customer service, fantastic. Cannot comment on the price b/c we didn't shop

This all started with an inspection of the basement to understand where the water was coming in. From there, we talked options and general pricing. The conversation started with repairing the exterior foundation, which would have been messy and costly. I was happy to hear that there was an alternative. I have to admit that the pricing and scheduling was a mystery, but all seemed to line up in my favor. From there, I have to clear items from the basement walls and just wait for the installation team. They arrived on time, were professional, knew what they were doing, and stayed late to stay on schedule. It took two FULL days, to include initial county inspection, but looked awesome when completed. The next test is the next heavy rain!
Description of Work: The company installed a water management system to prevent the flooding issues that I have been having in my basement. This involved breaking up the flooring along all exterior walls, drilling holes in the walls, laying pipes/gravel to provide a path for the water to travel along, installing a sump pump, and pouring new flooring. They even had to remove some of the drywall and tiles to make it happen. They did the prep work, permit pull, and clean up.

The representative from the company showed up on time and was very professional. What made me uncomfortable was not really understanding how he was arriving at the price quote. He was going to make me pay 4% extra if I needed the work done right away and when I did not want it right away then he shifted to offering me volume labor pricing...and the price went down $800. I was uncomfortable enough with the fluidity in pricing to go ahead and get another quote from a competitor who was another $800 cheaper than their quote.

We apologize for not explaining our pricing more clearly. Let me start by saying we offer a 110% best price guarantee and have never had to pay out on it. In large part this is true since most of our customers choose to use the products that we have developed which offers the best warranties in the industry, bar none. These products are exclusive to Mid-Atlantic and we have patents pending. We try to offer fair and reasonable pricing to all of our customers. We have our regular price that will put your work at the “end of the line”, meaning when every other job that has already been scheduled has been installed. There are times the wait can be months. When we have a customer that has a more severe problem or concern, we can offer a “priority schedule” to have your work installed sooner, this service does have a slightly higher premium much like Fed Ex priority overnight delivery, however most customers that choose this find the added expense was well worth the peace of mind they receive for having the work completed sooner. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, it is through honest customer feedback that we can learn and improve our service. If you have already had your basement waterproofing needs addressed, then we sincerely hope everything works well and solves your problems. Should you still be looking or trying to decide which service is best for you, I would be happy to schedule one of our most senior inspectors to stop by and answer any questions you may have.

Their recommendation was different than the company I chose to go with. I chose a different company that was more affordable to me at the time. The work was different and I don’t know that they are expensive or that the work would have worked any different. It was just two solutions to the problem. I just chose to go with the lower cost. Their work would have put in the drainage system. The way they did the work was more expensive and different than the company I did go with. This process would have pumped water out. The company I did go with, however, is standing behind their work. I believe both companies could have solved the problem.

I spent a lot more than I wanted because I had quite a bit of difficulty with them understanding what I wanted. Basically, I think I ended up being sold a bill of goods, which is something I was fearful of to begin with in terms of the reputation of these kinds of people. Basically, they were at the highest level when I talked to the company. They were relatively abrupt and issued a form of threat when I asked them to stop the job. I was told, in no uncertain terms, that they don't cancel jobs and listed the costs I could incur, including court costs and that sort of thing. They were tough to work with. I would not recommend them to anybody. They have a slippery price frame; I think I got overcharged. The installation crew itself was pretty professional relative to other kinds of services I have had but overall I think they are waning in the professionalism.

I can not say enough negative things about this company. It starts with a salesperson coming out asking for the man of the house and selling you a very expensive solution to "never having water in your basement again." When questioned who would be supervising the work, he assured me he would. Well that is not the case, this company then passes on the work and the person who sells you the contract NEVER comes to make sure they are doing the right thing which in our case they did not. Because they didn't do their homework they didn't realize until too late that there was no way to connect the exterior and interior drainage systems so they jackhammered our foundation for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THey then proceeded to remove a brand new sump pump that had been placed and put in a small shallow one. Again this was done for no apparent reason. To make matters worse, when questioned about why they didn't do what the contract stated, the supervisor threw his hands up and said "I am done with this job" and walked off but they still insisted on being paid in full. Do not use these people, not only did they not fix the problem they made it worse than it was. They are rude and horrible to deal with.

I met the representative of Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing at a Home Show. I have a problem with mold growing in one corner of my basement and wanted to see what they recommended as a solution. I was favorably impressed by the inspector's evaluation of the basement. He did a thorough job looking all over the basement, not just in the corner where the problem is. His recommendation, however, was to dig up the area around the front of the house and one side of the house to completely water proof the two sides of the house. In addition, he wanted to dig up around all 4 walls of the basement to put in a system to drain water to the two sump pumps that I already have in the house. This struck me as overkill. There is no water pooling in the basement. There is no water on the floor. There is no discernible water seeping through the walls. It just seemed like way too much disruption. And the cost was more than 10 times the other estimates I got.

Didn't use this company due to poor salesman and forceful techniques of sales and price.
Description of Work: Called them out to request a quote on a basement problem. The salesman was in my home for well over 2 hours hard sales. Wanted me to agree to his price of $68,000 (using another contractor paid about $28K) to water proof my basement by digging up the entire perimeter of my home externally and they were not responsible for concrete, plants and so forth they were going to dig up. He wanted me to sign before he left and kept stating so. Please beware of them.

I have a basement with an existing waterproofing system that has failed on some of the large storms. Midatlantic's entire approach rubbed me the wrong way. 1) Called before to confirm my wife would be home during the visit (sure sign that they would use on the spot promotional pricing)2) The inspector described the situation in dire terms. He also seemed to be more focused on my reaction to what he was saying rather than just laying out the facts3) As expected, he offered a "discount" price of $10,000 if I decided to do the work immediately4) I said I wasn't interested to the inspector5) I have now been called FIVE times to check-in. I have told them each time that I am not interested and do not want to receive further calls. Stay away from this company.

Mid Atlantic certainly engaged in all the scare tactics described by other customers - both owners of the house needed to be home for the assessment, Mid Atlantic would give me a "deal" if I signed with them the night of the assessment, and they were insistent that the water problem in our basement would be resolved by their "lifetime guaranteed" waterproofing system. We haggled the price down with them by about $2000, which in hindsight is quite a lot - but their final price was still higher than all the other estimates we'd acquired. What "sold" us with them initially was that they assured us their work was done appropriately - by permit with Fairfax County - which no other company could/would do (I found out later that's because it's not necessary and adds time and expense to the project). The actual waterproofing took just two days. The workmen who came to do it did not speak very much English. They left off an entire wall in our basement, and when I asked them why they weren't doing that wall, they said it was ok because it was covered in the lifetime warranty. The pump and system worked great until a huge rain storm in September 2011. At that time, our basement flooded from the portion of the wall that Mid Atlantic had not completed. We called Mid Atlantic to come fix the problem and they were 1. very difficult to reach (because the rain storm had caused a large number of customers to call with flooding issues) and 2. took about a month to get a technician to our house to inspect the issue. When he finally came out, he told us the portion of the wall wasn't covered by the warranty. Six months later, we discovered mold on the portion of teh wall that had flooded, and in the HVAC closet. We called Mid Atlantic again and demanded they re-inspect our house. We faxed them our contract, showing them that the wall was in the contract and they had not fulfilled this portion of the contract. They sent out another technician and this time agreed that this portion of the wall was under contract and they would come in and fix it. One month later, they came and installed their system. Because they did not do their job properly/completely in 2010, it cost us an extra $5000 (and counting, because we're still fixing damaged portions of our basement) due to the flooding in 2011. Their delay in accepting responsibility for the lack of completing the job made the situation worse (mold formed after so many months without attention). I would not recommend this company AT ALL, EVER. In hindsight, they used scare tactics to get us to sign with them, their price was extremely high, and they didn't even do all the work they were supposed to do, which in the end cost us even more money.
Description of Work: In October 2010, Mid Atlantic did an assessment of mold we found on the drywall in our basement. They concluded that our foundation was seeping groundwater through the cinderblock via the nails that held the furring strips to the walls, and that we needed to install their waterproofing system and a sump pump in our basement. Within a month later, they were available to complete the work - they installed their waterproofing system, a sump pump, and a drain. Unfortunately, they did not install their system completely - foregoing an entire (approx) 7ft of our basement. Our basement leaked tremendously in Sept 2011, causing an additional $5000 worth of damage in mold remediation and replacement of damaged materials, and after fighting with Mid Atlantic for seven months to come reassess and fix the work they never completed, per the signed contract, they came and finished the job in May 2012.

My 50+ year old home has cinderblock walls in the basement, which are underground in the front part of the home - the back part of the house is above ground. Despite having drylock paint on the walls a year or so before, I had some water seepage in my basement. So I called MidAtlantic after hearing their ad on WTOP. I made it very clear from the first phone call that I was only looking for informatin and an estimate since I had no idea what repairs might cost. I also said that I would be getting other estimates before making any decision. The inspector did show up on time and again I reiterated that I only wanted an estimate. He did what I thought was a careful inspection, using a electronic tool to measure the water in the cinder block walls. He discussed several options such as digging out all the dirt outside the house with a backhoe, then resealing the outside of the cinder blocks, but this was portrayed as very expensive. French drains in the yard were pooh-poohed since he said deep water was exerting the pressure on my foundation, and they would only handle surface water. He showed me photos of cinder blocks disintigrating from having water seep through. He unsurprisingly recommended their system, basically drilling holes in the walls to let the water run into a trench chipped in to the concrete at the base of the walls, which then would be pumped away with sump pumps. He gave me an estimate which I think was around $8000 (a lot more than I expected) but he said I could get a deal if I signed right away. I said I was not doing that since I was still gathering info -- as I had informed him when he arrived -- and didn't have that much money at that time anyway.. He said he could cut the price if I could be flexible as to when the work could be done. He was very persistent about getting me to sign a contract. I would not sign and finally I just asked him to leave. Then the haranguing over the phone started. They had workmen in my area and could give me a special, etc. Then they said they had a new patented "hydro trac" system and reduced the price again. Our family had had some financial setbacks so the repairs were not possible even at the reduced price. I told them I would call if/when I was ready to have the work done. In the meantime I did some research on the internet and was very dismayed to find practically no information about their methods. As far as their old system, I couldn't see how effectively letting water dribble continuously through the cinder blocks was going to avoid damaging them. And without anything to read on how it worked, I wasn't feeling good about their "new" hydro track technology. I wasn't finding happy customers or recommendations or technical descriptions from customers or professionals on sites like "This Old House" either. So I did not feel good about their "solutions". The aggressive tactics continued and several times I asked them to stop calling. Finally I told the caller that they were utterly disrespectful of my wishes, and that I would never let them set foot in my house, even if they offered to do the work for free. Also that if they bothered me again, I would file a complaint. At last, they left me alone. While I still don't know if their process or new hydrotrac system are any good, I can tell you that their hard sell tactics are despicable.
Description of Work: Inspection of my leaky basement, and an estimate for how they would plan to repair it.

We purchased our home during the boom 7 years ago and knew that we had a problem. In the seller market days you had to take what you could get in some cases. We didn't like our home inspector hindsight is 20-20 but I feel that If we had Mid-Atlantic look at our basement before purchasing I don't think we would have bought this house. When the representative from the company came out to give us an estimate he spent well over an hour looking around the basement and around the outside of the house for drainage issues. The rep had been working with the company for several years and had a lot of good information and was very descriptive and informative. We were given different options to fix the problem but the only one that made money sense was their interior system that drains the water and pumps it away from the home. When we decided to move forward with the project we were scheduled. From the date we scheduled the work until completion was less than 10 days. The job itself only took 3 days it was a little intrusive being on the inside of the house, but the team was very courteous and clean. The deciding factor of choosing to go forward with the project was a lifetime transferrable warranty. I was reluctant to give any kudos a job well done until I was able to see the system work. It had been rather dry over the last couple months, but we had a heavy rain two weeks ago and our basement is 100% dry!! I have already referred 2 people from work with similar issues and would refer them again.
Description of Work: We had seepage issues during heavy rains through walls and a couple areas of our basement floor. Water system (forgot name of system) with pumps and battery backup. They opened portions of the floor and put pipes around the inside of the walls to let water drain out.

They showed up on time and their price was excellent. The quality of their work was outstanding. I could not have been happier. Their work crew was super flexible. It was a massive amount of work. The length of my house is about 75 feet and they to dig up 2 foot section on concrete throughout the entire length of the house. They hauled all that out. They were super clean. They go everything hauled away and the whole job was complete in two days. They completed the work was completed with superbness. The completed the permit process with the city. They were totally honest. They got the permits and instructions done. They just owned the job and were absolutely outstanding. I rate them high overall.
Description of Work: I used Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing Inc last year to install a weeping system/sump pump for my basement to make sure the drainage in my basement was proper.
