Description of Work: They did a basement waterproofing on my home. They have stood by their word for the warranty just to make sure their work stays in. They are excellent.

Description of Work: We hired Mid-Atlantic to install a sump pump and drain in our basement. The pump and drain seem to be satisfactory. However, despite assurances to the contrary, they made no effort whatsoever to contain dust or dirt, not even covering air conditioning vents or other ducts, not hanging any sheeting, such that debris got all the way to third floor. Even worse, they damaged property, and were verbally abusive. A quality control manager came to inspect, acknowledged the issues, including property damage and improper site management, and promised partial refund to offset costs of necessary repairs. Regional manager agreed to partial refund, assured us that checks had been issued, and then finally acknowledged they had not and did not plan to honor their commitment.

Description of Work: Extreme high-pressure sales (first scare me with enormous cost for potentially tearing up the entire outside of my home; then "sign now or lose the discount" for an inside system along 2, not 4, walls). Price higher than competitors but one team got rave reviews. I got that team and was disappointed. They didn't do everything in the expensive contract, and I've contended with many repairs and repainting to clean up after the mess.

Description of Work: Very well. They replaced a sump pump after some years of trouble and it's doing fine.

Description of Work: Put in a waterproofing system in crawl space. Very expensive....but system works well and appears to keep the crawl space dry even after a very heavy rains and extensive snow.

Description of Work: After four days of heavy, soaking rains this spring, my front basement wall began to buckle and threatened to give way, which would have made the front of the house collapse. I had to have the basement water-proofed and the wall repaired/reinforced. I called Mid-Atlantic and two other contractors to give me estimates for the work. One contractor claimed he could do the job for about $5000 - $8000, but the guarantee was limited to 90 days of a dry basement and did not guarantee the soundness of the wall. No structural engineer was consulted. Another company (well known in the DC metro area) estimated that the cost would be in excess of $42,000, and wanted to know in detail what Mid-Atlantic said. I told him that I wanted his opinion of the problem, not a piggy back off someone else. The price was very high and the work described was contrary to the recommendation of the independent structural engineer that Mid-Atlantic brought in to survey the problem. For these reasons, I signed with Mid-Atlantic. Since then, the Alexandria, VA area has experienced several heavy, soaking rains. My basement is completely dry and even smells dry. The front wall that was buckling is now reinforced with four, foundation to ceiling steel beams and a partial solid concrete wall. A French drain was installed around the three exterior walls and a new sump pump was installed in the rear of the basement. The work was completed in two days, except for the removal of some particle board used in pouring the concrete wall. The particle board was removed when the concrete was cured. My house is semi-detached and I have not had any problems with the party wall. I am pleased with the workmanship and professionalism shown by Mid-Atlantic. I would recommend them highly. Mid-Atlantic provided a life time, transferable warranty on the basement work. Because of some previous negative reviews on Angie's List, I was nervous about using Mid-Atlantic, though it is a well-known company. I had read about hard-sell tactics and other difficulties, but I found none of those problems. I have been completely satisfied.

Description of Work: Bottom line - don't use them. They sold me on a 9k indoor fix to a problem which they determined after two and a half years, four forman, two GMs and a Better Business Bureau complaint that was not basement leak. So they washed their hands of it. I finally fixed the problem for about 1k.

Description of Work: Everyone was very nice, responsive, timely, and easy to deal with. The problem was that they were approximately $7,000.00 more in their estimate, which did not include everything we needed. Estimated cost- $16,000.00.

Description of Work: I called Mid-Atlantic and scheduled an estimate. I later read poor reviews of them and canceled the appointment. This was over two months ago and they are still calling and asking me when I would like to "reschedule" my "free basement estimate" despite repeated requests on my part for them to take me off their list and to stop calling me. I am tired of the harassment! The work was performed by another company two months ago!

Description of Work: Excavated interior trench and installed perforated drain pipe and gravel, excavated and installed two sump wells connected to drain pipe, poured concrete over trench, installed three sump pumps (two primary and one back up) and sump well covers. In exterior basement well excavated concrete floor and put in large drain grate. Applied concrete patches to cracks in interior cinder block wall.

Description of Work: We had a problematic wall on the front of our house. A French Drain was prescribed as the solution, along with a sump pump.

Description of Work: They dug around the basement and rerouted a drainage system because of the water that was leaking into the house.
