On Nov. 1 2019, McCarthy Services installed a new HVAC System on my place to replace an old one (which they said would not last the winter while servicing the old one). Roughly a year and half later (Tues., June 29 2021) the AC was not cooling at all. I had called another company I have an ongoing subscription with for maintenance and diagnostics. They notified me the reversing valve was defective and was leaking the refrigerant. At this point, I called McCarthy Services to activate the 2-year labor and 10-year parts warranties. They scheduled me for that Thursday (July 1, 2021 between 10am - 2pm). On July 1, 2021, the tech was running late (past 2pm), I started calling almost every hour to get an update to their ETA. It was 6:45pm and I received a call from the tech asking what the issue was, when I mentioned that the tech from that other company said it was the reversing valve, the tech from McCarthy proceeded to tell me he did not have any experience working on that and that I should call the office in the morning to get another tech to come over. I did not wait until morning, I called the office immediately. The office mentioned they would get someone over to us between 8am to noon. The tech came over around 2pm. To let us know what we already knew, it was the reversing valve that was bad, and that it had to be ordered. Since I did not receive a call to get an ETA for the part, I proceeded to call McCarthy Services, they responded that the part would arrive between July 7 or 8 (2021). On July 7th, they called to let me know the part would be there on July 8th and they scheduled an appointment for July 8th between 10am - 2pm. It was 2pm and they had not arrived, I proceeded to call to which they responded the tech are running extremely behind and that they would arrive around 4pm. At 4pm, I call to ask, to which they further delayed my service for 5pm. At 5pm, it was again pushed an extra hour. Around 6pm, they (Irene) called to tell me that since the work was rather intensive and would require several hours, it would have to be rescheduled for Today (July 9, 2021), for 8 am and (after Irene talked to management) she gave me their word that I would be the first service in the queue. At 7:30am, I receive a call from the tech asking ME, what was needed, as I explained that it was the part that needed to be replaced, he responded that he would pick it up and head over to us. At 8:30am I called to ask for a status, I am originally told that the tech was doing another work and that he would come over right after. I told her (Tracy) that that was not acceptable that I was given their word that I would be the first in the queue since they could not make it the day it was scheduled for. After being placed on hold, she mentions that the tech that was originally assigned to me, could not perform the work, and that I was **in fact** the first one in the queue for another tech but that he started around 9am, but that he had the part that was needed to perform the job. I called around 10am to, yet again, get another status. This time they tell me that the tech is going to grab the part, but that he should be here within 30-45 mins. At this point, it is 10:45am, and I m continuously wondering if the job will ever get done. So while they continue to provide excuses while working from the comfort of their office with AC, I will be stuck sweating while I work from home without AC. The whole reason I agreed to switch the old unit (at their suggestion) was because they mentioned it would breakdown at any moment and leave me for days without heat/AC. It seems like if it is for warranty purposes they will drag their feet as much as possible as if they wanted to deter people from ever asking to activate the warranty. At that point what is their warranty worth.

McCarthy had installed by AC system 9 years ago and I had been an ongoing customer. My AC stopped working this June and I called McCarthy and they sent out a tech promptly. The tech identified two failed controller boards and a failed motor for a total repair cost of $3400. I paid $99 for the service visit. They recommended replacing the system and sent out a sales rep to inspect the failed items and give me a quote for a new system. The cost was $10,800. Concerned about the accuracy, I called a second company to look at my system. The next morning a rep came out and in 5 minutes identified that the condensate pump was not plugged in. He plugged it in and the system began to work. No failed controller boards or failed motor. They did not charge me for this service call. My opinion is that McCarthy is either incompetent or dishonest. I gave them half a star because they were polite and cordial.

Brandy was very nice and quickly to respond in customer service. The Sales guy Luis was great except, he wasn’t aware that the installers don’t install Pro T6 Series Honeywell thermostat’s anymore. But Luis is very nice and personable easy to talk to. As well as he stayed very late to make sure we had all information and pricing we were comfortable with!!! Their manager was great and installed a Nest thermostat instead and did not charge us anything extra for the mistake! Overall was a good experience! The only other thing was there brochures shows that they put white rocks down and then place the platform down for the new unit outside. But they did not do that they just put the platform down after digging up our yard. I’m hoping it did not hit our sprinkler system line underground! We will see we are turning on this weekend coming up due to all the rain. The technician were great and installed in the rain. Robert showed me how to use the nest and answered all of my questions. Very nice hard working young man! Hope the company doesn’t ever let him go and keeps him. To be so young and hard working as the two were! These days that’s hard to find. Rob was awesome! I would definitely recommend the company! Just waiting on the inspector to check it all over to reassure us that everything under the house was installed properly! After that we are good to go!!

Everything has been great except that the customer service related to scheduling for a County zoom inspection has been poor...not responding to my emails to schedule a date. Sad that this one person would leave a bad taste in my mouth when I think of my overall experience...

Our furnace broke and McCarthy Services was able to send a tech on the same day to diagnose the issue. He then recommended for us to replace our entire system and got someone within the hour to come by and take measurements. We were given options as to how we wanted to proceed and answered all of our concerns and questions. Installation happened the day after and they were able to squeeze us in the morning. The labor was quoted to take between 4 to 6 hours, the team completed in 2 and ran me through the changes they made. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends and family who need HVAC work.

By far the most professional and customer friendly company I found after an exhaustive search to replace a single zone high wall ductless system. They responded without delay and were able to perform the work the next day. The Service representative who did the survey for a quote (Nick) was very knowledgeable, understood what I was looking for and provided a quote accordingly. I felt he was looking after my best interests instead of selling me something I did not need or want. The installation team (Dara and Charlie) were on time, customer friendly and did excellent work. I am now a big fan of this company due to their excellent customer interaction and quality work. Job well done.
