AVOID this company at all costs!!! I had an issue with my Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). It would not turn on heat or AC, so I tested the main power coming into the AC and was getting nothing. I checked the circuit breaker, and nothing was tripped. I even reset the Circuit breaker for the HVAC. I called McCarthy Heating & Air Conditioning Inc., located at 8198 Terminal Rd Ste 100 Lorton, VA 22079-1452, and explained my situation. They said no problem they would send someone out to troubleshoot my HVAC. McCarthy Service technician Sopheak Soun was on-site troubleshooting my HVAC, and without testing, anything said I was not getting power. I told him that is why I called. He said he could not help me and that I needed to call an electrician. I had to pay $89.00 for his visit. He also told me that my system is from 2015 and needs to be replaced without even seeing if it was functional or not. This is not the first time McCarthy Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. has tried to SCAM me into buying another HVAC. My association requires an HVAC inspection every year. McCarthy Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. has inspected my HVAC in the past and offered the same advice, replacing my HVAC. I have been using this system for the last 7 years with zero problems with heating and cooling. This company works diligently to SCAM its customers, and their technicians are not skilled in HVAC systems. The electrician was able to discover a light switch close to the HVAC that was flipped off, which was the problem. This should have been an easy catch for an experienced HVAC technician. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) reported that there have been 1,177 complaints closed in the last year and 417 complaints closed in the last 12 months. This, however, does not paint a clear picture because I am sure many do not report their frustrations with this company. Almost all of their reviews in 2024 have been complaints.

He not only carefully checked the prescribed components, but explained what he was doing and the functioning of each step/check he made. He knew his subject extremely well and very articulately discussed each topic. He presented add-on features/options very clearly and thoroughly, but did not pressure me to opt for them - very tactful and respful. He represented his trade and his company very well- a pleasure to deal with.

Meets expectations.

The technician was very professional. Even though the system had self corrected and began heating, the technician did a complete inspection of the system, reviewed what could have been the problem which caused the furnace to fail, he fully check the condition of the furnace, provided the age of both the furnace and AC systems, made recommendations for future replacement and finally shut off the system several times to ensure it would start and not have any additional unforeseen issues.

McCarthy does an outstanding job at installation. They have competent technicians and competitive pricing - a good value. HOWEVERâ ¦customer service/maintenance after the install is exceedingly poor. Buyer beware. I have been rescheduled three times (equating to three lost days of waiting for a technician who doesnâ  t show up) for an annual maintenance check.

Very honest and no hard sell

Replaced shower control cartridge, repaired water service shut off valve, replaced pressure reducing valve = $1,465.40! Excellent quality of workmanship! Kudos to Freddy E and Essi!

The tech, Andrew Bisono, was very thorough. He took the time to answer my questions. I felt that he cared about doing the maintenance of my heating system. I appreciate McCarthy Services for keeping me informed of the appointment and the tech's arrival.

Marvin was great checking system

Not pleased at all with this company. HOA requires furnace inspections, my furnace is relatively new (within last 5 years) and rep from this company tells me I have parts â  that could breakâ  . Then starts rattling off estimates in the thousands. Ridiculous! I do not recommend this company at all.

Very professional

I signed up for the annual maintenance service, and this visit was exactly that. It took them about a half hour, I think. Our furnace is 17 years old, and will need replacing in the next few years. That said, it is working fine right now, and should for a while longer according to the technician. â Just be prepared â were his words.

Staffs were polite ,friendly easy to talk too .The gentle man explained how everything works .most of all how to change the filters and work the thermostat .They weâ re very clean I didnâ t move a thing after they left . I am very happy with the work .

The Technician (Kevin) is by far the best for any plumbing service we have had. Professional, Courteous, and Very Thorough. Explained everything prior to installation of piping and hose bibbs and valves. Inspected everything and left the area cleaner than when he arrived. Mccarthy has done all of our work since trying a couple of others years past. This household will not go to anybody else but McCarthy now.

Installation team was punctual, efficient and courteous. Worked around having dogs in the house.
