Marshall Roofing Siding and Windows

If I had had more time for good weather, I would have definitely selected Marshall to install our new roof.

In the end I think it was fine but I can't really tell since the work was on my roof. So far so good. I got a prompt response when I called for my estimate. I didn't know what the problem was and the person who came to look at my problem gave me good advice, telling me that I didn't need a new roof at this time. However, after I sent my signed commitment it took a long time to get the job done. I think the original person ended up being unavailable and then there was a little confusion about when the work would actually be done.

The garage roof portion of the job was very satisfactory. However, when it came time to do the shed roof portion of the job, the problem developed that the estimator had either been fired or quit - apparently taking his write-up of the estimate of our shed roof project with him. The scheduler had to ask me to re-measure the roof and tell her what the work was that needed to be done - along with the type of shingle. This all came to us the day before the roofers were scheduled to do the job. Very unsettling. In the end, the job appears to have been done in a satisfying manner - except for some sloppy caulking that was done on the flashing that runs along the siding of the house.

The company made an appt to come out and put in new gutters in the front and clean the back gutters on 9/9/10. I took off from work and they never showed up. They made another appointment for a week later, said I didn't need to be there this time so I stayed at work. Came home from work and nothing had been done. Apparently the person who came out to do the original estimate 8 weeks ago put the wrong information done and the repair person brought the wrong materials. It has been a week and the company hasn't responded to reschedule the repair. Absolutely unprofessional and unreliable. I need the repair completed due to a HOA deadline, which could result in fines from the HOA. I would not recommend this company. It shouldn't take two months to get a simple gutter repair and gutter cleaning.

The company responded promptly and punctually to my request for an estimate. The estimator was intelligent, well-spoken, polite, readily answered all my questions about the work he proposed to do, and when I went up on the roof to see for myself he obligingly showed me exactly what he was talking about. We had three other estimators come out, and Marshall was the most expensive. However, their estimate was the most detailed and comprehensive so we decided to go with them. They were so backed up with existing jobs that they couldn't schedule us before a month out, but they sent a three-man crew out precisely on the date and time that was promised. The crew worked steadily, finished in about six hours, cleaned up all the debris from their work, and left me with an invoice, inviting me to either send them a check or call in a credit card. Most importantly, they succeeded in eliminating the roof leak. I would unhesitatingly use Marshall Roofing again or recommend them to friends.

This is the second time I have called Marshall Roofing. The first time, about a year ago, I had noticed a leak in an upstairs bathroom. I called, and instead of someone calling me back to set an appointment date/time, they came out immediately. The guy climbed up on the roof, saw that the ridge vent had not been properly installed so that a nail was bare to the elements, and that when it rained, the water went down the nail and made a small drip. They replaced the ridge vent for $300 and we had no further troubles. The second time, we were selling our house, and the idiot "home inspector" the buyers hired apparently shone a flashlight, saw where the leak had been, and rather than checking to see if it had been repaired, cited it as an "active leak." I called Marshall back, and the workman checked. He was furious - stated that this had been a repeated problem with home inspectors, citing issues that had been repaired and necessitating home owners to pay to have nonexistent problems "fixed." He said that Marshall's normal service charge was $240 and asked if I had the inspector's name - that he would bill him for the service charge. Unfortunately, at that time I hadn't gotten that information (which I had requested, because I wanted to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau), so I couldn't give it to him. Instead, he said that he would not charge me; however, he did write everything up for me to have at closing, including some comments about the incompetence of the inspector (who had already cost us over $1000 in unnecessary service calls), and gave his name and phone number for anyone who had questions to call him. I can't say enough positive about Marshall's responsiveness, professionalism and humanity!

We had to wait a few weeks for them to get to us for an estimate, but it was worth it. They came in with a good price and the project was done to our satisfaction. They could use a little more help in the office, handling the phones. I guess that is the price you pay for success. The sales man was professional and the installers were courteous and easy to communicate with. We have only had one rain storm since the installation, but the gutters worked well and they look very good. We would use them again.

They showed up on schedule and did an excellent job. It took about 2.5 hours. They cleaned up after and took the old gutter with them. Looks great. Everything seems to be working as advertised.

This is an update to my previous report dated 7/16/2010. Initially I rated this job as a D because it took several phone calls to have the work completed to my satisfaction. The main problem appears to have been a lack of effective communication between the admin office and us. Once the owner became aware that we were not happy, he saw to it the repairs were finished completely and quickly. I would recommend Marshall Roofing to my friends and neighbors now.

It went very well. The estimator was efficient and explained the process in detail. He was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The job was done on the dates I was given. The crew worked from 8am to 8pm for three days, even though the temperature was 95+. They were great!

I had a leak in my roof and called several companies in Angie's List, but Marshall was the first to be able to send someone for an inspection and estimate. The estimator showed up approximately on time, and spotted my problem immediately -- a damaged roof vent. I was prepared for him to tell me I needed a whole new roof (plywood and all) and was ready for him to sock me with a huge estimate. Instead, he surprised me by saying both the shingles and underlayment were fine; only the vent needed to be re-nailed. He also said two vent pipe flanges needed replacing, but added that it was not urgent. He could have easily skinned me, but didn't. As a result, he has won a lifelong customer who will strongly recommend Marshall to friends and neighbors.

The overall quality of the work was good. The company showed flexibility in allowing changes to the contract because of new information and also in taking down old gutters on a different day than the new ones were installed, which allowed easier access for an exterior painting job going on at the time. The new gutters are fantastic-- sturdy and draining well. There were some problems getting through to the schedulers, which caused some frustration. Also, there was a problem with a flashing where the new siding meets roof. The company corrected the problem after I emailed them about it.

Very well. We would definitely use them again.

Everything went very well--they did beautiful work. The price was very reasonable and the estimate was far and away the most detailed and accurate that I got from any company. I have worked with a lot of contractors, and up and down, I was very impressed with this specific company.

In the bad snows in February 2010, we had water coming into the house because of ice dams in the gutter. Our house is tall with steep roofs, so I could not clear the dam myself. Marshalls responded the same day, even though they had many calls and many people in the area were having the same problem. They broke off much of the ice dam. Overnight, however, the problem became worse. They came back the next day when we pleaded with them, even though they had many calls to respond to. They stopped the water coming in from the ice dam. The work took three people several hours. The charges for this work amounted to about $500 per visit, which was a little high, but it was an emergency, and they came out and then came back right away, so I cannot complain. They came back about two months later to replace the drywall in the house that had been damaged by the water from the ice dam. They did a great job, and it looks good as new. They sanded and painted and cleaned up all the mess. They also noticed that I was missing a "J Channel" (whatever that is) in my siding, which they replaced for free. I was very pleased. All of the work, including the two visits for the ice dam and the drywall work, cost $2000.

The roofing crew arrived early in the morning and worked quickly to remove the old roof. As that was going on the new roof was being installed simultaneously. They completed the job in one day. They removed and replaced any plywood that wasn't in top quality shape. Friendly guys. The gutter crew arrived the next business day and early as well. They were able to get to work installing the new gutters and downspouts because the old ones had already been removed by the siding company. The job was complete in just a few hours. The house looked great. There was one disagreement about placement of a downspout and the crew came back to fix it to my specifications. Impressive customer service. Kenny does nice work!

The technician was Kenny Kochel. He did an excellent job. He was very thorough, he took his time. He made sure everything was perfect. They did a good job. The price was excellent for all the work he did. The customer service was excellent. He gave me his card to call him if I have any problems. So far I haven't have any problems. It was a really good experience.

The experience has been amazingly easy and extremely professional - so much less stressful than we assumed the process would be. The salesman - Mike - met with my husband and I to discuss the products that Marshall offered, how the estimate would be completed, their work process if we accepted their proposal, etc. We received a courtesy follow-up call and email but no pressure what so ever as we had been clear that we were interviewing multiple companies before a decision would be made. Mike met with us again once we indicated that we wanted to use their services to go over the material choices, costs, time to install, payment information, etc. He also stayed involved through-out the installation by stopping by during the job and then performing the walk-around with us at job completion. A few minor corrections were easily performed in a couple of hours and our house looks incredible! The work crew was extremely professional and hard working with everything cleaned up at job completion. Many neighbors stopped by during and after the job to complement us on the siding choice and ask for the company contact information. I would do business with Marshall again and would recommend them to anyone considering Siding and Gutter work.

My experience with them overall is great. I do recommend following up with them on scheduling to see if they have had any cancellations to get you in sooner.

It was very reasonably priced and the work was very good.

Outstanding - very informed estimator performed thorough review of my roof inside and out and provided reasonable estimate (midrange of estimates recieved). The estimator was very knowledgable and made some great recommendations regarding my attic fan, as well as discouraging me from some additional work the was not needed. They have a central office that handles scheduling - I could always reach them when needed. Work was completed on schedule and as promised, and it looks great. They were also very clean and professional. There were a few boards that required replacing, and they consulted with me each time before completing the work. They have an outstanding warrenty, have been in the business a long time, and have a great reputation. The warranty in particular was inportant to me. I had lower priced bids for the work, but none that gave me confidence that they would really stand behind their work for the next 10 + years, or be in business for the next ten years for that matter. I had no issues with the new roof this winter or spring. Very satisfied with their work.

They were reasonable, but I chose another provider as they were more meticulous in what they could offer.

Very well. I was originally planning to repair some leaky sections and put a gutter protection system on my house gutters. But after speaking with the estimator, he recommended I not do the gutter protection system because my gutters were not wide enough. I appreciated the honest opinion and just went with the gutter repair. My house is only 5 years old and the Marshall estimator suggested that if I ever replace the gutters, use wider gutters and then install a gutter protection system. Made sense to me. The scheduling was a little difficult. We had scheduled a date for the repair so that I could be home to watch, but that date kept changing. I had called back once to confirm the repair date was the next day and they told me the repair work had been rescheduled for a date that had not been coordinated with me. I then rescheduled the repair date for about two weeks later and they came the next day anyway. It worked out fine because I was home after all that day, but the scheduling experience was a bit erratic. The repairs were done and the leaks are all fixed. Very good job!

I got the estimate very quickly from them. I can say that they were very efficient, I haven't decided who to go with yet.

Wonderfully. They arrived on time, finished on time and on budget, and cleaned up all materials before leaving. Will definitely use them again.
