Marshall Roofing Siding and Windows

They are very nice and seem very trustworthy. They looked thoroughly at the roof & wrote everything out on paper for me. I felt they were very honest with me. They did not just say everything needed to be replaced & told me what did not need to be done as well as what did need to be done. They called ahead of the appointment to let me know they were on their way.

The estimate was less and the work/finishing work that would be done as part of the installation was far more detailed than any of our other estimates. (Another company had told us it was impossible to finish around our replacements windows.) Chris Butler and the installation team were professional and polite from the beginning to the end. We cannot control the weather (Sandy decided to show up), which put us back a day or two on the schedule for installation from original installation date, however, Chris kept us up to date on the days, time, and situation. They also cannot control whether an employee shows up for work, which put the installation team down to a two man vs. a three man team for a day. To be honest, it wouldn't matter if it had taken longer for the job to be completed as the installation of the siding, the attention to detail around windows, screened in porch and electrical are beyond expectation! It is a plus to have this company employ their own people for all steps of the process, a rare find these days with so many box stores competing for business. A side bar: in between the estimate and our signing the contract, we had a family crisis which took our focus off the process. This proved not to be a problem and we were able complete the contract upon return.

After the initial visit, the windows came in earlier than expected and were installed in one day.

We had a wonderful experience with this company. Their technician came out and inspected our roof (interior and exterior). He came back and told us that we still had 5 years of life in it (give or take) and that he had done some minor repairs while he was up there (calking and the like) free of charge. We will definitely be calling them to give an estimate when it is time to replace the roof!

Our roof was damaged during the Derecho storm, with shingles peeled away. We got multiple estimates from Angie's-recommended companies. Several roofing companies indicated we needed a new roof, but Marshall said it could be repaired. The estimator was very professional and knowledgeable. He recommended a specific shingle color that would match the existing roof as closely as possible. Marshall scheduled the work quickly and showed up on the date/time. They made the repair and it is difficult to see where they made the patch. A great experience! Thanks, Marshall Roofing.

This work was completed over two months ago and it has taken me awhile to write the review. Previously, Marshall Roofing installed vinyl siding on our 1970s split level home and we were very pleased with the work, so we contacted them again regarding the wood trim which was showing signs of wear and would have needed painting and/or carpentry. After consulting with Chris Butler we opted to cover the trim with aluminum (replacing any bad wood as necessary) on both the main house as well as the screened porch attached to the rear of the house. Chris was courteous and professional in providing estimates and answering questions along the way, and was prompt in answering emails. The job called for covering all fascia, rake, and frieze boards with smooth aluminum coil, as well as corner boards and miscellaneous wood trim on both the main house and porch. Additional soffit vents were provided and all soffits were covered with Invisivent vinyl soffit. Suh and his assistant did an amazing job and we are very happy. Both workers were extremely patient and courteous and it was a pleasure to have them on the property. They take pride in their work and it shows. The trim was expertly installed on both the main house and porch and it looks great. Cleanup was excellent. I can recommend Marshall Roofing to others without hesitation.

Marshall Roofing came to my primary residence and gave me an estimate . Following the estimate, they replaced 32ft of my front main gutter and 25ft of downspout. The estimator was not the same person who came for the gutter replacement. Upon completion of the work, the worker told me the estimate was incorrect and that it needed some additional work. They would come back to complete the work and would call to let us know. No big deal. After a week waiting for a call, I contacted Marshall Roofing and inquired about finishing the job. They said I didn't need to be there and would take care of it that week. Overall, not too bad an experience. Now, the reason for my F grade. The problem came with my rental property where I needed an estimate for a leak in the roof. I was scheduled for a roofing estimate between the hours of 8AM-9AM on a Friday. I was told I would receive a call 15 min. prior to my assigned Marshall Roofing employee. 8:45 AM came around so I called to see what was happening. No answer. 9:30 AM I called again, no answer. On the message they gave a cell number to call for the manager's direct line so I called it and left a message with my contact info. I called again at 11:30 and someone answered. I explained the situation and they said my appointment had been moved to 3PM that day. I asked why nobody was answering or returning calls even though they are open weekdays starting at 8:30AM. She stated very angrily, she was the only one in the office and the phone had been ringing off the hook since she got in. She had to get her kids ready for school in the morning and had not been able to catch up. I asked to be called 15 min prior to the estimator showing up for my 3PM appointment. 4:30PM came and still no call. I called again and was told the estimator was still at a job site. At this point, I took the entire day off from work without getting an estimate. My wife had to rearrange her schedule to pick up our daughter because I was waiting on Marshall Roofing. So in a last ditch effort to save my day I asked to be told the truth. Will he be here today or do we need to reschedule. She promised he would be there. Guess what? 5:45, 6:00, 6:30, no call saying he wouldn't make it. Nothing. No show.

They were honest - didn't try up sell me on anything and their price was reasonable. This company was prompt, did great work and friendly.

Last year I had another company out and they did a real hard sales job and I did not feel comfortable with what they where telling me. So I decided to use a top rated company on Angie's List this year and I am so glad that I did. From start to finish today Marshall Roofing, Siding and Windows was great. They arrive on time, looked in the attic, and checked out the roof and I do not need a new roof or any major repairs as reported last year. When I do need a roof, this is the company I will be calling.

We called Marshall Roofing to get a second estimate on a roofing job. The estimator was late arriving for the appointment. However, once he arrived I felt he was very thorough, professional, and helpful. His inspection of the roof was more complete than others, and he seemed more knowledgeable about issues related to ventilation. He also gave us options for different approaches and explained the pros and cons. His major recommendations matched exactly what the other contractor suggested. I felt he was giving us good information and allowing us to make a decision, rather than working for the most expensive option. We went with another company because they were local and their price was significantly lower, however.

Very poor, if someone is delayed for some reason, just call the customer. I feel like our appointment was forgotten about. I rearranged my day to accomodate the apponitment that never happened. Even after calling and inquiring still no response, I guess they just don't care.

My roof begin leaking as a result of the derecho storm the DC area experienced in June, 2012. I called Marshall after reading their reviews on Angie's List and was connected with an estimator named Jeremy. After scheduling our appointment, Jeremy arrived punctually and begin walking me through the estimate process. After 2 hours of thorough inspection, he provided me with an overview of the issues he saw and committed a date/time by when I would receive an estimate. The estimator also explained my options for replacement shingles, etc. Finally, I received estimates from other roofing companies for comparision. After some negotiation with Marshall, via the estimator, we came to an agreement on price and begin discussing installation dates. This was the only downside of Marshall in that they have a limited number of roofers, so were backlogged by about 2 weeks. Additionally, due to rain and inclement weather, our job was pushed back by another 2 days. There was minimal communication from Marshall, which forced me to follow up more than I would have expected. Additionally, even though I had specified where the materials should have been dropped off, the roofing supplier disregarded that and dropped off the material in my neighbor's driveway, to his inconvenience. After complaining to Marshall, they simply apologized, but did nothing about it. The roofers arrived on time and completed all of the work properly. They were a bit inconsiderate about our flower garden and planters. I would recommend Marshall based on their price and quality of work, but their professionalism and responsiveness could be improved.

Sent an email request thru Angie's list for an estimate on siding,roofing repair, new roof, gutters and windows. Company never returned my call or email. This would have been a large job. Disappointed with the firm.

Great experience overall. My only quibble is the price - I was able to find cheaper providers, but I went with Marshall because they made a good first impression and gave me confidence they could do the job. Also, their workers showed up in the blazing heat, so I definitely have a lot of respect for Marshall's employees. During the work, my gutters and shutters broke, but they were almost 30 years old - not the company's fault. They did leave my house with only partial gutters for a day or two - apparently the siding and gutter crews are separate - but it wasn't a big deal, and the gutters were completed promptly after the weekend. I'd use Marshall again if I needed exterior work done.

The only reason we didn't go with this provider was because we got an exceptional deal from an independent roofer who did work for a couple of our friends. If not for that reason, we would have been happy to go with Marshall Roofing and I'm sure been quite satisfied with the results.

Excellent work -- all three jobs went very well. Roofing job began at 7 AM on day with recordbreaking heat index warnings, yet despite my urging that they come into AC and take frequent breaks, the crew worked straight through to 5 PM, stopping only for 1/2 lunch break. Siding crew likewise worked straight through and finished all but one trim job in a day. Gutter replacement took barely an hour. Installation was perfect in all aspects -- none of the gappy joints and gloppy caulk jobs that I'd encountered when using another contractor to replace windows. And each crew was extremely professional, pleasant to deal with and careful to clean up site before leaving. Communications were outstanding -- from original estimates through each phase of scheduling to follow-up on completed work. Only glitch came went I belatedly discovered my dishwasher wouldn't start the weekend after the siding job done, and an electrician confirmed that it was no longer getting power. But when I called Marshall's and asked if they had a solution that wouldn't involve tearing up concrete slab or drywall to get at line, they promptly sent their own electrician & siding guy, along with Chris Butler (co. VP) and Jeremy Ervin (original estimator) to fix problem w/o charge. They located the problem (dishwasher wiring added after house built and strung w/o any protective strike plate), rewrapped the spot where insulation got nicked and reinstalled siding in an hour or two. Great group of professionals -- wish every home improvement job went so smoothly.

I first contacted Marshall Roofing after the big storm at the end of June/early July. Even though they were super busy, they were able to schedule me in pretty early. They came out as promised and the rep, Jeremy, spent a lot of time inspecting my roof and recommending what needed to be done. He did a thorough job throughout, showed me pictures, and spent time discussing my options. Jeremy remained available t me through his cell phone the entire time. I decided to have a total roof replacement, including wood since I'm planning to stay in this house through retirement. The company did excellent work. The office manager, Annette, was extremely responsive throughout and worked me to give me choices of roof shingles since this was a very big decision for me to make. The work was done as scheduled and I was not even home the day it was done. The crew did an amazing job installing and cleaning up. When I came home from work, I had a new beautiful roof. The experience, from first phone call to job completion, was an amazing experience. I cannot say enough about this company!!!

We bought our house just over a year ago and had been having some small leaks each time it rained. We called 3 companies (Marshall, Pond, and Katchmark), and Marshall came back with the best quote. The estimator was great and did a thorough analysis, and provided us with the detailed estimate before he left our house. The work was done on time, no leftover debris, and it looks great.

The repair technician who came to my home for the estimate was thorough and very helpful, talking through different scenarios with me for how best to ventilate my complicated attic space. It was clear that he actually knew what he was doing and was not just an estimator but someone who actually does the work and understood how attic ventilation works. He gave me a fair and reasonable estimate ($1,760), not so far off from the estimate from the other company I ultimately chose for the project ($1,426). The primary reason I went with the other company was that the solution Marshall recommended for my attic required the removal of old insulation and Marshall does not provide this service. I did not want to contract with two different companies to accomplish the attic project, and so went with another roofing company that did the entire project for me. I normally would not review a company I did not choose to do business with, but the customer service I received from Marshall was truly outstanding. I would certainly consider using them in the future for other work.

The experience was very positive. We were told from the original phone call that the estimate would be 3 weeks out. Given the high approval ratings, we were willing to wait. Similarly, when we got the estimate, it was clear we would have to wait a month or so for the work to be done. The roofing was done very efficiently in a couple of days. My only concern was that there was a lag of 4 days between another crew replacing the facia boards and rakeboards and anothter getting the gutters up. Fortunately, we had only one small rain during that time.

Outstanding job. Two knowledabe and plesant workers showed up on time. They did great work and were very efficient. They cleaned up and hauled away debris. We were very glad to have the leakage stiop -- particularly after learning that the plywood underneath was continuing to rot. We were also very satisfied with the price. We are way overdue (over a year late) in writing this review, but we felt so stongly about the qualiy of their work that we wanted to document it anyway.

We're very happy with Marshall Roofing. They've been responsive and good about getting repairs made quickly. They seem to charge a fair price and they haven't tried to make the job bigger and more expensive than what's really needed. We'd definitely use them again.
