Independence Landscape

Let me start by stating that we had put sooooooo much money into our front stoop that the thought of having to replace it once again was frightening (we had our stoop worked on over five times). Well, last summer, we had to bite the bullet and called Independence Landscaping to come to our rescue. When Chad Evans drove up, he said he had been to our house a few years back and remembered our stoop issue. At the time, he recommended that we replace it and start from scratch. Well, we thought we knew better and just decided to band-aid the issue and used another company. So, this time we told Chad that we wanted to get away from using pavers - we had such bad luck and wanted to go with more "brick and mortar". Chad talked with us about about all our options and said he would work with us to get this right. To say this man was patient is an understatement. He was always available to answer questions because he knew how anxious we were about once again fixing this d*** stoop! We went with Chad to pick out the slate on a hot, Saturday afternoon. I'm sure he would have preferred to be home with his family but took the time to help decide on the right slate for our home. Chad brought his crew on a Monday morning and Robert and his assistant began their magic. They began their day early and always cleaned up before they left in the evening. Chad was always available by phone if I had any questions and came by in the evening to make sure the job was progressing well. The job was finished within the week and we were thrilled. Robert came by the evening they finished just to make sure we were happy. I hope this sounds as glowing as the experience we had with Independence Landscaping. Our experience with Chad and his crew was exceptional. Chad always managed our expectations and never promised more than he could deliver. We are going on a year with our beautiful stoop and thank our lucky stars that Independence Landscaping, and Chad, gave us one more chance.

I can say without hesitation that working with Chad Evans and his team at Independence Landscape was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. He was extremely attentive, responsive, creative, hardworking and treated our project as if he were working on his own home. He is passionate about the work he does, and fully committed to doing the job right; and this attitude is reflected in the fabulous team he has working for him. From Robert, Mauricio and Angel who transformed the front of our house with their amazing stone and concrete work, to the "planting team," who swooped in to put in the finishing touches, all of the men were hardworking, unfailingly polite, thorough and extremely conscientious about doing the job right. Chad and his team bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, and were able to execute the plans we put in place to perfection. I would recommend this company without hesitation and plan to use them again when it is time to landscape our backyard!

We think they are good. I think we paid $60 per lawn treatment, but they have a range of options. I can get everything from seeding and aeration to fertilizing and grub treatments.

Curt and his team did a great job with our front and back lawns. Curt was quick to respond to our inquiry and he was able to do an estimate while we were at work (which was great because we didn't need to come home to meet with him). We needed the work done very quickly and Curt was able to complete the work within days and he even rearranged his schedule to do so. Needless to say, our yard looks amazing and our backyard (where the sod was placed) looks perfect. I also can't describe how good the patio looks after the powerwash...it looks new. They even edged our lawn (which wasn't part of our contract) and came back two days later to fertilize the sod! Curt was quick to answer any questions that came up and his workers were talented and professional. We are so happy with the service we received and we would hire Independence Landscape again!

On Friday, I contacted them requesting an estimate for mowing my lawn. Kristen sent me an email saying she could send someone to my house "in the next day or so". By Monday, no one had shown up, so I went with a different business that showed up on Saturday and provided a cost of the service and actually had my lawn mowed on Monday.

Very prompt in returning phone calls. Came out to house to provide detailed estimate, consulted on appropriate plantings for the site, arrived promptly to do the work. I plan on using Independence again for both landscape design and installation.

Curt Greene, the Owner of Independence Landscape came to my house to provide a proposal for landscaping. He offered to provide a landscape design for the front yard of the house and an area along one side of my backyard. Since he was providing a proposal for the work he offered the design for $100 and required payment upfront. ?It took him four weeks to provide what he called a design and that was only after I reminded him multiple times. What he called a "design" was simply a back of the envelope doodle that he scanned and emailed. It did not even include all areas we discussed to be landscaped. ?I assumed this was only a rough draft and asked when he would have a design ready. I have had designs performed before and know what to expect. It could not have taken him more than 5 minutes to rough sketch what he sent on an 8 1/2 x 11 pad. It was by no means a design, and certainly not even worth half what I paid. A week later he simply emailed the same sketch with no message, no explanation. Obviously, this was all I was going to get and I have been ripped off of a $100. ?Needless to say, he did not get the job.

Like all the other times we've used Independence, extremely well. Having gotten through a lot of the heavy landscaping in prior years, was curious to see how responsive the team would be to a much smaller maintenance job. Extremely thorough cost estimation, willing to work with us to fine tune. Promptly scheduled a date, showed up on time with a large crew and did just a tremendous job. Besides being careful and thorough, there just seems to be a constant pride in their work and willingness to do just a little extra to insure you are satisfied. Highly recommend. Not the least expensive, but when they come, they come in force, on time, insured, and do what is needed to insure satisfaction. Great value.

Fantastic! Independence Landscape are excellent communicators, very professional, and do great work. They'll show up when scheduled and ensure you're happy with their work. Very happy with their services.

They weren't very responsive when it came to estimates, and I might have used them for more work if they had been. I'm chalking it up to the fact that they seem very busy. The service was good, though; I used them for seasonal mowing, and they came and billed on time. I didn't have any problems with them missing spots or damaging anything, so for a regular mow, they were good. I did not use them for any larger jobs; one reason is that one estimate I received for some work on a walkway was comparatively high, and the other is that when you have work done with them, the contract calls for entering into a binding arbitration agreement. Sorry, it's one thing if my credit card company does it, but if a landscaper or contractor doesn't do the job required or causes damage, I prefer to preserve my rights. While Independence seems reputable and reliable, if they have a binding arbitration clause in all their contracts, I'd be concerned about the recourse I'd have if they weren't. I also cancelled this season because I was automatically enrolled for the seasonal mowing (at a higher price over last year) without even having been asked if I'd like to do so beforehand. Personally, I prefer options for opting in, vs. opting out. No complaints about the services performed though. Mark, the owner, seems like a decent and reasonable person.

I love my landscapers and I got them off of Angie's List. His name is Mark Haller. I had them come out and do a lot of work for me in June. The sod didn't take. He came back, replaced it and fixed everything at no additional charge in October. He's a great guy. I bought a lawn treatment package with them. It was $225 for maybe 10 treatments, I can't remember. They come out and fertilize, aeriate twice a year and they seed in the Fall. My lawn has never looked this good as it does. I didn't pay for leaf removal. I didn't ask for it but they do do it. They will remove the leaves if you ask. I don't know if its part of the package or if its a separate cost. i do know they will do it. I think the absolute best think that I can say about Independence and Mark is he's got so much integrity. Something you don't find. I will absolutely use them again.

He's awesome. He does a great job. In fact he does all of the all the neighbor down here too. He's terrific and clean up is good.

Though the crew tried to match the designs plant placement, due to circumstances they had to make a few changes. When I was not 100% happy with the look, Curt had the team return until I was absolutely satisfied. When I called him a few months later about one of the shrubs that was not thriving, the shrub was replaced. I very much appreciated Curt and the crew's patience and professionalism, I will definitely use their services again.

Service was fine but the ten treatments gave me no more than any other company who did fewer treatments. So the overall cost was more than most. They would at times do two treatments at the same time, such as checking the Ph for $40 plus a chemical treatment for $40.

I would heartily recommend Independence Landscape. Their landscape architect, Mark Haller, was creative, extremely responsive and committed to the project, and meticulous in his attention to detail. He was also very patient with me and my thousands of questions. His team was extraordinarily talented and their commitment to excellence meant that they added features to the project that I hadn't even considered but made the final project even better. What has also amazed me is that now, months after the project has been finished, Mark is still available to answer questions about care for the new plants in my yard and has even visited my house several times to make sure that everything was still in order. I was initially taken aback by the original price, but, once I saw the results and the huge scope and amount of work that went into the project, as well as the pride that the team took in their work and my project, I realized that I got enormous value for the price I paid.

They did a very good job. The owner's very responsive. If you have questions or concerns, he answers you questions on the phone or E-mail. Their customer service is fabulous. They are timely, responsive and neat. They were very punctual. I would absolutely use them in the future. I would recommend them to anyone.

Mark and his team laid the sod in July. Despite watering and care it was just too hot and parts of the sod didn't survive. Mark promised to return in October and replace any sod that didn't put down roots. He was absolutely true to his word. He replaced all the unproductive sod and aerated and over seeded the rest. My lawn looks great and the drainage is so much better. Best of all Mark is an upfront, honest, and ethical professional. I plan on using Independence for all my lawn care from now on.

This job was a very pleasant surprise. The trees and shrubs were planted well. The yard clean-up went very well. I thought I would have go buy a huge amount of mulch to put around everything. Then the dump truck showed up with a load of mulch--I was off the hook--yay, and mulched around everything. I hadn't realized that mulch was included in the price. Another major bonus was that the crew chief volunteered to replant a sapling tin the backyard that was not needed in the front. I was stunned and very proud when I saw how the appearance of my front yard had improved. This is a fine company and I would definitely use them again.

They are busy, and it took them awhile to schedule our job, but they were honest in estimating how long it would take them to do work.

I have been using them for probably about two months. We have an acre and a half and the front yard is extremely deep on both sides and it kind of comes down just like a V in it. It's very steep, it's difficult to mow, there's a lot of land and they do a fantastic job.We also use them for our debris removal like we had fifteen trees cut down. We had them come in over the course when they spend an entire day and there was a big huge tractor full of leaves that they went through and cleaned up everything. And there was a little area that I noticed after the fact that it wasn't done and I sent them an email and he had his staff come out the very next morning and they finished it up in a couple of hours and were done. So they were incredibly responsive, and the prices are great. Every time I contact them they contact back immediately, they have no problem coming out and meeting with us. They've been fantastic. I would absolutely recommend Independence Landscape & Lawn Care.

We had a problem with the grading on our property. From a small patio area at the back door the property slopes slightly uphill towards our neighbor's yard. During moderate to heavy rains, water collected at the door and would overflow the threshold into the living room. The first time this happened we slowed the water flow with towels as I ran out to buy a small sump pump and hose. I dug a hole at the corner of the patio deep and wide enough for the sump to function, connected the hose to it and ran it to the low side of the house. This worked well enough but it was unsightly and I was concerned about what would happen if the power failed during a storm. We contemplated re-grading the yard, but this proved unworkable due to the layout of the property in relation to my neighbors at the back and side. I finally called a couple of landscaping companies. The first company gave me an estimate of over $16,000 which I could not begin to afford. We never heard back from the second company after he did the evaluation. I then called Independence Landscape & Lawn Care. Mark came out and we discussed what I needed and various solutions. He took some measurements and provided a rough estimate. A few days later he emailed me a formal estimate for $3636.00. The project entailed installing 2 catch basins with French drain pipe, connecting the two downspouts to the French drain and feeding that into a four inch pipe terminating in a pop-up diverter at the low end of the property. Additionally they would clear the foliage from under the deck, re-grade the slope to direct the water away from the house and toward the drain system after which they would install landscape fabric and river rock. Disturbed areas would be reseeded. I authorized the work and paid the 1/3 deposit as agreed upon. The company arranged for Miss Utility to come out and mark the underground utilities. Even after notifying them that Miss Utility had completed their task, I never received a project start date and had to email Mark to arrange one. My view is that I should not have had to do this. As the company knows its schedule they should have contacted me about a date upon notification that the utilities were marked. The crew arrived on the agreed date and went to work straightaway. They first cleared under the deck doing a nice edging around the perimeter. Then because they were working near the natural gas line, by hand they cut the trench from under the deck to the other end of the house. They installed the two 12? x 12? catch basins, the french drain pipe and connected the downspouts at either end of the house to the french drain. Following the slope of the property, they continued the trench to the low point of the yard where the pop-up diverter was installed. The trench was recovered and the disturbed areas re-seeded with grass/fertilizer mix. The project was completed in a day and a half. In a little over a week the grass started coming in and is spreading quite nicely. About 2 weeks following the jobs completion we had rather heavy downpour and I was very pleased to see the drain working as designed. I would definitely call again on the services of Independence Landscape & Lawn Care should I need it.

We are very pleased with the work that was done. Everything that was going to be done was explained clearly. The area looked very nice when they completed the work. When we had concerns that there might be a problem with some of the work that was done, the owner came out and assessed the problem. The company is very professional, and I would very much refer them to friends and family.
