Description of Work: Service provider would not let me choose how much cleaning I wanted to purchase. He said he would nearly double the estimated fee (to $470) if there were a lot of stains. His exact words were "this is not your choice." My choice is to find another company.

Description of Work: We got this coupon from Angie's list for carpet cleaning. I called the company for scheduling around 21st June and left a voice mail but also emailed him requesting a service for 2nd July between 12-4pm since it was urgent. I got an email confirm from Hugh Lobban. Later (on 22nd June) my wife realized that it would be a good idea to move the date to 3rd July so I asked him whether it can be re-scheduled and I got an email confirm that it is re-scheduled. Now on 2nd July, I got a call from Hugh around 11:30pm that he can come right now. First I was stumped since I remember the appointment was for 3rd July but I asked him whether I can call him after 5 mins to check with my wife. It was not possible but we decided one of us will leave work early to get it done. So I called back and told him that I checked the original appointment and it is for 3rd July, 12-4pm and asked him to honor it but he said that he already has another appointment. So, I was like okay lets do it today (2nd July) and he was like I called another customer and cannot come now. I was really stumped at this point and then he says I can come after 3 weeks. This was even more ridiculous since we were moving into a new home and wanted to get this done before our move in. Above of all he was very impolite on the phone and tells me that I have to run a business. I didn't tell him that time but want to give the feedback here that if you want to run a business then don't take work more than you can commit to, be accountable to what you commit for and provide proper customer service. We got this deal because the company had good ratings on Angie's list but the service we got completely bummed me. We were already stressed because we were moving in to a new home and the service we got made it worse. I felt, the Deal thing is completely bogus so never go for a deal where the companies commit to more customer than they can serve. :(

Description of Work: I should of known from the beginning this guy was nothing but trouble when I called for an estimate. He mumbled on the phone and I could barely understand him. When I told him I couldn't hear him, he spoke louder to me and it was a little insulting. He was not friendly. He was confusing as well, talking about how he couldn't clean the area rugs I had without being outside, otherwise he would damage my floors. Example he said, "my equipment will take up the tiles in the kitchen if I do it indoors". What?? Of course that meant he would take the area rugs away for cleaning which would incur a charge of double what it would cost to clean indoors and take 8 days to do. I told him I wasn't interested in that then. Then he says he'll be there from 10-12 on Saturday a week from the phonecall and to be ready with floors vacuumed. Based on some vague sq. ft. I told him I wanted cleaned, he estimated $170. At the very end of the conversation, I mentioned I had an Angie's list coupon. He shows up around 9:15am, and doesn't knock or ring the doorbell (I know, because I was awake and waiting, and have a dog that barks at the slightest intrusion and my dog heard nothing). I waited until 10:15 when I found the note he left on the door saying "Sorry we missed you". I was furious. I called him and he said he was already on his next job and that MAYBE he'd be by later to do the work for me. I was really upset at that point. I was working with big time contraints. When I protested and wanted a confirmation on if he'd even bother to show up later on, he gave me nothing but attitude, and told lies about how he heard my dog barking but there was no answer when he showed up that morning. He did end up calling me later in the day, but I had luckily already found other, BETTER arrangements with Sears who were able to come out that same day and who were really friendly and treated me with respect.

Description of Work: Guy came to the house to pick up the carpets -- friendly enough -- but when I tried to find out exactly what I was paying for, and what kind of discount I was getting, he became frustrated and said that he doesn't like bartering, and that I should just call Angie's List and get a refund. Then he left. I wish to note that I was not trying to "barter;" I was merely trying to find out exactly what amount I would be paying for and what kind of deal it was. The deal I purchased on Angie's List was not very clear to me -- I should have researched it more thoroughly before going with this company so that part was my fault. But I thought the guy (Hugh?) was very unprofessional in how quickly frustrated he became.

Description of Work: He is very rude over the phone after learning that the place is just within the 450 square feet minimum and he cant charge more money. He kept yelling that he cant serive if I cant get him a parking pass. I was trying to tell him he didnt need one if it is after 5pm but he wouldnt listen. He said he wouldnt do the job then hanged up on me. Worst experience on Angies list ever!

Description of Work: I requested that my basement carpet, basement steps and master bedroom carpet be treated for stains that had built up. Hugh spent a good amount of time pretreating / scrubbing stains and then used the steam cleaner to treat the carpet. He also left three fans there to speed up the drying process. Overall, I am very happy with his services and would use him again. The only caveat I have is waiting to see how the carpets hold up over the next six months.

Description of Work: Overall, we were satisfied with the work done. The estimate was great - lower than other companies I bid the job with. There was some confusion with the start time, but once the team arrived, things went smoothly. I was very surprised by how wet the carpets were when the cleaning was complete. The team did leave huge fans overnight and things were *mostly* dry by morning. I note this because other companies I have used seemed to leave the carpets almost dry (perhaps they use different equipment?). Several stains they could not remove (although, they are much less obvious after the cleaning).

Description of Work: Very pleased, a little hard o get a hold of them at first but once it was setup they came, did the job as expected and the price with the angies list coupon was unbeatable

Description of Work: We contacted the service provider after reading reviews on Angie's List. We gave him the necessary information for cleaning our carpets and he quoted us a price based on the purchase of the coupon and the remaining amount. When he showed up, he told us that the cost would be almost 3 times the amount he had originally quoted. He also refused to clean our carpets because we had a dog (despite the fact that our carpets were in good shape). He left our home without providing any services and told us to get a refund for the coupon we had purchased.

Description of Work: The vendor should have stated in the fine print that he had a limited service area for cleaning oriental rugs. He also should have stated in the fine print the size that he would pick up and service. He advised my rug was too small to warrant his time and told me to get a refund.

Description of Work: An outstanding job. Punctual, courteous, thorough....you name it. Mr. Hew left fans to dry the carpet quickly and on his return to pick them up, went over the tough spots with additional solution and scrub brush. I've never seen this carpet so clean. Oh, did I mention he was here on a SUNDAY? Who does that?? Nobody. Just Hew's Carpet Cleaning. My grade: A+++++++++

Description of Work: They did an excellent overall job of cleaning our wall to wall carpet. The real quality of their work showed in removing a stain from an area that had been previously proved impossible for two other companies to remove. They were very helpful and professional.

Description of Work: Hew's provided carpet cleaning services in my home. Scheduling was easy and they fit me in within a day or two of the original request. The day of service was just as seamless, and the cleaning was thorough. Carpets looked better than they had in quite some time (and they had been cleaned by a competitor not more than 2 mos. prior, but not nearly as well or with as much detail to high-traffic areas). Would definitely use Hew's again.

Description of Work: The provider came early on the day he was scheduled and we could not accommadate him at that time. I called and rescheduled for later in the week (he was abrupt both times I called as though he did not really want our business) . We had a coupon for $99 for 750 square feet that we bought from this list. He said it space was 950 square feet so the cost would be 220 more. My husband asked him several times to explain why it was so much more but he felt his question was not answered. He did, however, agree to pay the extra amount but when he started to write the check, the provider said that he did not want to clean the carpets and left.

Description of Work: Hew came to my house and did a survey and took measurements, he said it would cost extra because their are too many stains on my carpet and that it would require extra effort to get rid of them. he finished the job within 2 hours and I couldn't tell wheather the stains were still their or gone as the carpet was still wet at that moment so I paid him and he went his way. Next day when the carpet got dried, i noticed the stains were still their and carpet along the edges were still filthy dirty. it's as if it was cleaned by a vaccum cleaner. very disappointed with his services.
