+ -1 more1. Promised to show, never did, finally called said tech was ill. 2. Showed on a holiday weekend, cost us a bloody fortune. 3. Recommended $1,200.00 water jetting, Provided no DVD or Video of camera procedure. Asked for it, never got it. Overall: Not good and very costly.
Description of Work: 1. 120 - 130 foot main sewer line clog, install new clean-out. $599.95. 2. 3 months later, main sewer line clog. 150 feet to clog. $830.95 3. Video snake of main sewer line to diagnois problem. There were none found other than minimum grade and length of line (240 feet). Install clean out cap in yard. $550.00.

+ -1 moreWe've called on Dwyer four times - to replace a valve in a difficult spot, to evaluate a leak & determine whether repair or replacement was best, to service our a/c system, to swap one type of valve for an updated one. (We've been doing a lot of renovation & needed expert help.) They've been prompt & professional every time. Once we even phoned them for advice regarding a problem with our gas water heater, advice their technician gave freely over the phone even though Dwyer in the end did not do the work owing to complicated circumstances. Excellent company, Dwyer is. Can't say enough good things about them.

Description of Work: We had an leak within the walls, which was leaking to a condo below our unit. He was able to pinpoint the problem right away. A person from the company will be returning to do the repair work. The work was not done at the time because we had to order a new dishwasher.

+ -1 moreOverall experience from start to finish was excellent. I really appreciated how the Dwyer Plumbing rep showed me what he was inspecting and explaining the "why, what, when, where and how" of maintaining things and teaching me about warning signs. I never once felt like he was pushing more services on me or scaring me into doing anything "right away." The total cost was $243 because I signed up for their yearly maintenance contract ($149) which gave you yearly AC and heat inspection, 10% discount on their services, and priority scheduling. The remaining $94 was for A/C inspection/freon refill.
Description of Work: Performed thorough A/C inspection of both the inside and outside units. Showed me how pipe connected to indoor AC unit to floor drain can get clogged (which mine was), explained why such clogging would lead to problems, showed me how to clean/unclog pipe and maintain in future. He checked indoor AC unit motor and confirmed it was clean because of good filters, explained/showed me what else he was inspecting and why. He checked AC outside unit as I was concerned about rusty compartment where freon is stored. He determined that my outside AC unit was 1998 (10 years old) and assessed that it still had about 5 years before I might want to think about replacing entire unit (and possibly replace with better unit as I just had generic contractor model). He checked freon level which was low, so he filled up with appropriate level of freon. He suggested that in May 2009 when AC unit is inspected again, determine if low freon was just merely from heavy usage and not getting regular maintenance, or if low freon level is because of leak. He also checked water heater and explained because I had electric water heater as opposed to gas, there was really no "maintenance" to be done. He did explain, however, some signs I should be looking for to know when it should be replaced and also explained basic anatomy of electric water heater. We determined my 8-year-warranty, 50 gallon water heater was at least 2001 (8 years old). He did not see any warning signs on my water heater and recommended that should I want to replace with new one, I should not get one larger than 50 gallons since I lived alone and space in basement would not accommodate larger water heater unless I relocated slop-sink and washing machine.

+ -1 moreI was replacing my washing machine but needed an old gas line extension capped in my laundry room to have access to an old entry way. I also had a dripping kitchen faucet. I Called Dwyer and they assigned an appointment for first thing the next day. The plumber and assistant - assessed the situation, provided a quick estimate, performed the work and ensured that the gas appliances were working after turning the gas line on. Great job and fast.

Description of Work: I was having issues with my A/C system and getting a company to come out and look at the system. I called Dwyer and they had someone at my home within an hour and half. My system was replaced two years ago, the ductwork had come loose and the pan in my attic was filled with 10 gallons of water and the duct was blowing cold air into my attic and not the ducts.

+ -1 moreEach time we have called Dwyer to service the condo, they have been able to send someone out either same or next day. All three plumbers they have sent have been very friendly and professional and done a great job. For one of the visits, the Dwyer plumber was going to have to cut a hole in our cabinet to access a leaky pipe. I was impressed that he informed us that it would cost more for him to cut the hole than it might for a carpenter and suggested we call a carpenter to save the money. For each plumbing issue Dwyer has fixed, we haven't had any follow-up issues.
Description of Work: Dwyer plumbers have serviced our condo multiple times. Twice was for two different instances of leaky pipes and the third time was for a faulty fixture in the bathtub.

+ -1 moreVery well. We have a lot of people coming for a graduation party on Saturday. Called three companies to see if they could fit us in on Friday. Dwyer was the only one that could and they were very nice about it. Tech was great. A/C started up fine and tech could find nothing wrong with it other than it was old. Very reasonable cost as well. I've asked them for a written quote on replacing out 15 year old central a/c unit.
Description of Work: Our central a/c tripped a circuit breaker and when attempting to reset it, saw sparks come from main panel.

+ -1 moreI asked for an estimate after another company's repairman told us the split system AC unit for our home had to be replaced. Approx cost $3700. I called Dwyer for second opinion. Jalil and Jimmy examined outdoor compressor unit and determined that capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced. He showed me how it was broken, explained how it works and upon installing new capacitor the compressor motor and fan worked fine. (Makes me wonder if the first guy from the other company knew what he was doing and just wanted to make $ or if he was incompetent) Either way....I'm really glad I called Dwyer and dealt with extremely ethical and friendly professionals. Best rating for Jalil and Jimmy and Dwyer.

After they finished, I asked about a problem we were having in the bathroom. They were able to replace the diverter in the same visit. They were very professional, friendly and neat.

+ -1 moreHe had come to just give me an estimate, but when he determined it was a simple problem he fixed it on the spot. He was very courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Guillermo came to give me an estimate for a leaking cast iron drain pipe that went through a concrete floor into the garage. I was pretty sure the plumber would have to break into the concrete to remove the pipe, since the water was dripping through the concrete. He pretty quickly figured out that the toilet flange extender was done wrong and not forming a seal. He easily added a ring to bring the flange up to the proper height and reinstalled the toilet. He also noticed the toilet was not flushing properly and fixed that.

I was pleasantly surprised to submit request on line to find out if Dwyer could perform the work and have a representative call back that same afternoon to schedule an appointment two days later on the day that I had said was my preference. The technician arrived on time, was quick and even helped me carry the old unit and debris to the curb.
Description of Work: We had a gas insert in our fireplace that no longer works and wanted to have it removed.

+ -1 moreDwyer sent Karl promptly to gave an estimate and possibly do the job same-day. Karl's estimate for the work was $600, plus $200 to replace two valves. I didn't think the valves needed to be replaced, but had to check with the condo engineer. The charge for the estimate was $70. The condo engineer confirmed verbally that the shower valves are fine, and that Karl "would have known that had he turned them." So I called back to have the service scheduled without the valve replacement. The work was done next day in under three hours. I think it could have been done on the first visit, thereby saving me the $70 estimation fee. (I did get to use a 5% coupon from their website.) Incidentally, I got a free in-person estimate of $450 from a different firm, but they didn't return my calls to schedule the service.
Description of Work: Replaced the single-handle tub/shower control, shower head and faucet (fixtures that I supplied). They had to cut the drywall in a closet behind the control to weld some pipes.

+ 0 moreDwyer was terrific. They responded immediately and had a technician at the house in one hour. The technician was professional, technically proficient, quick to take care of the problem. There was additional work required due to replacing the couplings that was unknown at the time of my call. They stayed within their original quote, from the phone call, even though the extra work was required. The technician was favorable on the company and described them as honest. I wholly agree.
Description of Work: Our water heater had shorted out due a leak from a coupler above the water heater. Water ran down into the electrical cable into the heater and caused an electrical blow out. Dwyer diagnosed the problem, replaced the water heater, replaced three of the couplings on the water supply lines, ran the new electrical connection and disposed of the old water heater.

+ 0 moreI located Dwyer on Angie's List. The lady who answered the phone and set up my appointment was very professional. The initial technician who responded was very personable and efficient. When the next technicians came out, they had not been informed that my request included some plumbing issues, not just to hook the gas back up. This required a separate visit for a plumber from Dwyer to come and address the wax ring and kitchen sink fixtures. During the course of replacing the sink fixtures, the plumber noticed that one of the shut-off valves wasn't fully operational, but he didn't take the initiative to suggest that it be fixed. He only mentioned it to me once he was finished and about to leave. I was very ill during much of this work and forgot to request an up-front quote, so the bill was quite an eye opener. I probably wouldn't have selected Dwyer if I had been feeling better and following my usual practice of getting two or three bids for a job.
Description of Work: I had my old gas range removed and Dwyer capped off the gas line until the new gas range was delivered. Dwyer then returned and hooked up a new flexible gas line and turned the gas back on for the new range. In addition, I had the wax ring on my toilet replaced and the kitchen sink fixtures replaced (I provided the fixtures) for them to install.

+ 0 moreI got 3 other quotes and I found out that the other companies I contacted were trying to sell me more than I needed. Gene Paschal explained what was necessary and what was merely optional. The gas company had to move the meter outside and Gene even helped with this. Gene's crew was unavailable due to the gas company's timing, so he did the reconnection himself and didn't even charge us for it. The gas company came back for the final inspection and everything past with flying colors. His installers, led by Hugo Juarez, were outstanding. Working with Gene was a very pleasant experience. He was honest and only sold us what we needed and I felt he was looking out for our interests. The price was competitive and I would recommend him and will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They installed a gas boiler and a water heater. They also repaired some gas leaks.
