A bit costly, but they were very professional and sent someone within a few hours to solve my problem. The plumber was very nice and patient. Everything was explained to me including prices etc. I was thrilled when someone came within hours to install my dishwasher and update the valves. I was worried I wasn't going to be able to find a company to come to my home to do the work for several days. Worth the price.

The plumber was prompt and very professional. He provided us with a worst case scenario estimate of the repair. Took the time to work with our neighbor to help get a temporary solution for water supply through the weekend fitting through the hose bibs. Come Monday, they were prompt with their arrival and took them no time at all to complete the job. In the future I would request for an itemized estimate. We were advised that they would be a day and a half and the cement repair was included but further details were not discussed. Once they discovered there wasn't a need for cement work, they did reduce the amount due, however, we were told that they have a $2200 per day minimum. The repair team was not at our residence for an entire day when the job was completed but we were charged for their daily rate according to company policy. I did mention my hesitation with the adjusted cost, and they did provide a small discount, but was not even 5% (or equivalent to the angieslist discount which was not requested or provided).

It took several hours for the technician to complete the job. I thought there was a problem since it was taking so long. It turns out he didn't know what he was doing. Several months later, there was a funky smell coming from the cabinet below the faucet. They came back out but couldn't find a problem -- but still charged me for a service call. A few weeks later, the sink pipe started leaking and the faucet became loose. I didn't have them come back -- I was finished with them, and will never hire them again. I hired another plumber who had to re-install a new faucet - he said the problem was that the faucet was not installed correctly. Since then, there's been no problem.
Description of Work: Installed a new kitchen faucet and new knobs for cut-off valves in the pipes underneath the sink.

We apologize for an unsatisfactory experience six years ago. Since this was so many years ago it's hard to speak towards this particular matter, however, I'm certainly not sure why the plumber would have charged you a second service fee since the labor would have been under warranty, and as for an improper installation, that also confuses me since our workforce is highly experienced. I'm not saying we never make mistakes, but we always do everything we can to promptly remedy them.

Three months after the above stated furnace was installed by Dwyer Plumbing, Corp., the previous home owner placed the home up for sale. I am the new owner of the home. Since the furnace installation is only three months old, it is practically brand-new. Especially since today is June 1st. As I was inspecting the house, I took a closer look at the installation, since it is still likely under warranty. I noticed that there was documentation on the cold air return showing that Dwyer had pulled the permit. But I did not see any documentation showing that it had been inspected and approved by the county. Also, I noted that the paper filter, used to catch and retain dust pulled in through the cold air return duct, was hanging approximately an inch outside of the return air duct and it could not be pushed any further in. In addition, there was a significant air gap around the filter. Like water, air takes the path of least resistance. So rather than drawing in return air from the rest of the house when the furnace is operating, a large amount of air is instead pulled in from the surrounding mechanical room. My concern is that less than two feet away from the furnace is an old school water heater. Normally, the burned exhaust from the water heater is vented up, through the metal pipe, to the roof. To prevent exhaust gases from being pulled into the house, an equivalent amount of make up air needs to be available to replace the exhaust gases. My concern is that the opening around the furnace filter, in the cold air return, will pull hot water heater exhaust gases back down the exhaust pipe, into the mechanical room and then into the furnace, causing the exhaust gases to be circulated around the house. Not good at all. People get sick from that kind of stuff. To prevent that from occurring, I was expecting a cover/door to be installed over the opening. So noting the phone number on the Dwyer stickers, I prepared to call them with my concerns and see if these two issues could be properly resolved. My first contact was with one of the Customer Service Representatives. Her name is Marcella. She was pleasant, but as it became clear to her that I was asking for things to be fixed and inspection concerns addressed, it seemed to me that some dodginess was introduced into the conversation. Specifically, when I stated that I would like to know if the inspection had been done because there is no documentation showing that it occurred, she first stated to me that it is the customer's responsibility to schedule the inspection. I started thinking to myself, "Is this their modus operandi?" Her statement would be true if I (or the previous homeowner) were to have pulled the permit. However, that was not the case. Since Dwyer pulled the permit, it was their responsibility to schedule the inspection. I shared that thought with her. Rather than a clear and decisive, "You're right.", I was again dealt some more dodginess. She said that she would need to pull the paper file to see where things stood with the inspection. I thought to myself, "Why is this information not readily accessible, either on a computer or a file?" I got this vision of a huge warehouse, in the closing scene from the movie, Raiders of the Lost Arc, chock full of lost antiquities, and in the far corner was the file for my house. In my mind, that would explain the delay. With regards to the missing filter door, she stated that she would have to refer me to the HVAC Manager, Julio. We got off the phone. I went on the internet and did a Google search for the county permit process. Boom. Done. Too-easy. I called the correct office and spoke with someone there. She was able to tell me that the permit was indeed pulled for the furnace and that it had been inspected. That's good news. Then she also gave me the name and phone number of the inspector. Bonus round information. I noted the contact on paper, thanked her and hung up. A little while later, I received a phone call from Marcella. Since it was her that I had spoken to, I felt that she had done the right thing to call me back and introduce me to Julio. So kudos to her for that. Next. Julio came on the phone. I explained my two concerns to Julio and told him that in the intermediate time, I was able to verify that the inspection had occurred. Personally, I was surprised that I, as a novice, was able to more rapidly gather up the inspection information by looking up the government contact information, call the listed phone number, wait on a brief hold to speak with someone, and then wait as they looked up the information. Perhaps Dwyer's paper file needs to be moved to a more easily accessible location. Perhaps it could even be scanned. Then we moved onto my second concern, as listed above, about the filter housing. I was told that this is the normal way things are done and that if there was not a little bit of the filter hanging out, it would be hard to get a hold of when it came time to change it. I told him that in my previous home there was a cover over the hole and that the filter did not get stuck. He also mentioned that the filter could get sucked into the furnace if it were all the way inside the duct. I did not argue that point. If it were properly installed, there would be large metal rods that would hold the filter in place and prevent that from occurring. So I mentally noted that there are probably not any rods to retain the filter in place. I also mentioned my biggest concern about the back drafting of exhaust gases into the house and this was dismissed. He suggested that I could cover the gap using duct tape. Now that sounds really professional. Not. Clearly, I was not going to get anywhere with this guy. So rather than arguing, I thanked him for his time, but also told him that I completely disagreed with his assessment of the situation and that I did not consider the installation to be complete. That's okay. I don't want them to fix it now. I don't trust them. Exhaust gasses are no concern... hmmph! Yeah, right. Well, I'm putting my concerns on Angie's. So I'm suggesting that you save your money and frustrations by avoiding these guys. I'll use Angie's List to get someone else who I can trust to clean up the mess.

Response from F.H. Furr Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical
You’re asking us to solve a safety problem that doesn’t exist, and one of the easiest ways to prove that is your system passed county inspection. The amount of air entering through that rack is not dangerous, hence it's not code enforced. If something had come up we would have gladly resolved it. The previous owner who paid for the installation did not want their filter rack replaced; we offered to have a door constructed for you for a fee, but given that the previous owners had never had such a filter rack and didn’t want to replace one we’re not going to install one for free for a new owner. Duct tape is a quick fix for the unreal problem and will achieve the same results for less money. You will likely find many things all over your new house that are different than your previous one, but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong. To clear up some other things: his name isn’t Julio, it’s Jalil; he’s been working for Dwyer since 1994, and we’re fairly confident he knows what he’s talking about. Marcella answers phones and schedules calls, she then directs other matters to the proper person. Some of us can electronically pull up exactly what you asked about inspections, but it’s not something everyone in the office needs to know how to do since it’s not a common request.

As in past dealings with Dwyer it went well right from the start. The receptionist who took our call was as pleasant as pleasant could be, and we were immediately scheduled for the repair. The plumber who came arrived right on time and was both courteous and competent. He wasted no time in attacking the problem, advised us midway through the work as to the approximate cost, and quickly called in his request for the replacement parts. I should add that this job was much more than replacing a broken section of pipe. The impacted area included junctions with two other pipes. In short, a pretty complicated affair .Nonetheless he finished the job quickly and completely, testing and retesting to ensure there were no leaks. There were none. And lastly, he left the work site cleaner and neater than when this all began. You'll see one "B" rating and that is because I simply can't get used to plumbing prices, but I seriously doubt one could get the level of quality the Dwyer staff provides for less $$$. While I wouldn't mind seeing prices come down, in the end we turn to these folks again and again because we know the job will get done correctly and quickly.

After listening to their man tell me he wouldn't do what I asked. I sent him away & told him Dwyer would never be asked back to a job for me.
Description of Work: Dwyer's man arrived on time. I had three small jobs which I was told would probable accomplished in one day. In 15 minutes their man told me why he wouldn't do what I asked. The principle job was tapping off the cold water under the sink for a water feed to my refrigerator. There is an existing shut-off under the sink but this man asked that the water needed to be shut off completely. That requires advanced notice and effects all 16 condos in the x06 tier in my building. He said there was an alternative but it will leak. Where is it that leaking is acceptable? I sent him away. This same man has done three other jobs here for me and 40% of his time here is just talking & telling me why he can't do what I asked.

First, let me quote from when you scheduled the call online, “I've had you do three different jobs here and, aside from your pricing, you guys are A+ on my list” (Angie’s List Message Center, 1/9/2015). You seem to have decided to revise this opinion of all the prior work for reasons that are difficult to discern. Because you live in a condominium if something goes wrong with your plumbing it affects many other homeowners. Shutting off the water is a simple, quick procedure. While it requires advanced notice it’s better for everyone in your building in the long run. You just wait until morning routines are over, and turn the water off for twenty minutes at 10am after the majority of residents are at work. It’s just something that goes along with living in a building with common lines. We agree that a leaking alternative isn’t a viable one, which is why we wouldn’t do the work requested unless you allowed us to do the job after the water was turned off. Clearly, you were not agreeable to this. Hiring a master plumber means that while you may have an idea of the work you want done, we have to determine the proper way to execute it. We don’t want phone calls from you, your homeowner’s association, a home inspector, or an insurance company in a few years that a significant amount of damage was done or work needs to be redone because we did the scope to the specifications of someone who isn’t a licensed, experienced, bonded or insured plumber—we can’t tell an insurance company that we did exactly what the homeowner wanted, because we’d still be the liable party for what could potentially be hundreds of thousands in damage. We regularly see terrible damage from shoddy work by inexperienced plumbers, “handymen,” and DIYers, and we don’t ever want our company to be the cause of such grief. If customers want us to do work that’s not up to long-lasting, well-functioning, safe, and to building code standards then we will simply refuse to do the work. We do it right; we have a stellar reputation to maintain.

I called because the water from the washing machine was not draining, but coming up through the floor drain. Luis came out and tried to snake out the floor drain with the snake he had on his truck. He had to cut an access hole to get to the line more directly, avoiding the trap below the floor drain. He put out 60 feet of snake, but did not reach the clog. He repaired the access hole in the line, and said another crew would come the next morning with a larger and longer snake. Next morning, at the appointed time, David showed up with the larger snake, this time going through a "cleanout" port on the main line. He used all the snake he had, still needed more, and called for backup. Within half an hour, a truck with more snake arrived, and he continued until the clog was cleared. He had to go all the way through the main sewer line in the house, under the yard, and out to the middle of the street into the county sewer line, over 150 feet. I was impressed by their work for these reasons: 1. I called about 10 AM, and explained that I could not meet them before 3:00 PM. The dispatcher worked around my schedule, promising the crew would arrive between 3:00 and 5:00, a very narrow time window. They arrived exactly at 3:00, and started work promptly. In my experience with home repair, getting such a precise window of time is unusual, as is working around my schedule. 2. They were very respectful of my moms house, keeping everything as clean as possible. 3. They explained all possible charges in advance. Given the amount of time this job required, I thought their charges were very reasonable. The job was much more involved than any drain-clearing I have ever had done before. 4. They could have sold me a camera inspection of the line, but since the clog was gone, they said it wasn't really necessary

Whenever we have a plumbing problem, and there have been a few in this old house of ours, Dwyer Plumbing is our go-to company. Their office and scheduling staff has always been courteous and efficient; their technicians are not only punctual -- if they're running late they call to give one the heads up -- but they're all very good; and the price is quite reasonable given how complex and time-consuming some of the work can be. In this instance, we needed to have old bathroom fixtures replaced and new ones installed. Sounds simple enough, but it wasn't. The technician who came by to do the job, Luis O., was excellent. He's very good at his job, he's personable and went out of his way to make sure we understood what he was doing and were satisfied with his work. It took him pretty much the entire afternoon to work his magic, but the upstairs bathroom FINALLY works the way it SHOULD. Alleluia. I like to give credit where credit is due and Dwyer Plumbing -- as well as Luis O. -- deserve an A+.

I did not accept the second estimate and will not ever use them again. I'm disappointed and insulted that they would try to charge this much. I paid the $220 for the first visit and now hope to find a plumber with reasonable pricing.
Description of Work: Dwyer has been my go-to plumbing and heating contractor for 15 years! We've used them to install a new furnace, new air conditioning unit, all repairs, sump pump, garbage disposal, etc. Their employees are extremely knowledgeable and professional. I had a bath room vanity top refinished. Dwyer came out to uninstall the sink and faucet so that the wood top could be worked on. They charged $69.95 service charge plus $150 to do the work ($220). This morning they returned to reinstall the sink and faucet and told me it would be the $69.95 service charge plus $189 for the faucet and $288 for the sink ($547). That is $767 all together to remove and reinstall a sink and single faucet! An hour visit the first time and with a second hour to reinstall that would be $383 per hour. Unfair and unethical pricing.

Response from F.H. Furr Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical
In short, you made an assumption that the amount of time necessary to replace the plumbing would be the same as removing it. It simply isn't. Our plumber estimated that it would have been at least two more hours work. If it didn't take as long as expected he wouldn't have had any qualms about lowering the price to more closely reflect the time involved after the work was complete, especially for a long-time customer such as yourself. There is simply no way we would ever charge anyone as much an hour as you calculated, nor would you have had to pay a service fee again since it was a continuation of a recent job. We have no interest in overcharging anyone, as that's not a good way to stay in business. Lastly, we were incredibly surprised after fifteen years of exceptional service you were as contentious with our plumber and our owner as you were over this matter. We wish you the best.

Dwyer was highly responsive. They sent a plumber out the next morning as I requested. I received a call 30 minutes prior to the appointment. Luis arrived and assessed the situation and provided an estimate. He contacted the shop and got approval to do the main water valve replacement. He had to cut a small access panel in the drywall to gain access to the lines. He communicated the entire time and answered my questions. He cleaned the site after performing the replacement and got the entire job done in about an hour or so.

Had one tech over to inspect drain overflow but said the problem was most likely outside. With camera view this was determined and a plan was developed and executed several days later when the temp rose around freezing.
Description of Work: Sewer back up/blockage in line snaked drains found problem in line outside due to tree roots. 8x4 trench was dug. Replaced pipe. Added access on outside pipe.

It works well. The cost is part of our contract. They do twice a year. They come out to do the service calls to make sure everything is working okay. If anything needs to be replaced like Freon, they would let you know then. I like that they are a local company and I think we heard from some of our neighbors. The price is reasonable. They are pretty punctual in their timing.
Description of Work: We have used Dwyer Plumbing Corp. who handles the majority of our stuff mostly plumbing, but I think they also took care of the heating part. The last time they came was for a service check in the spring time.

They were very good. They're a reputable organization. Dwyer is well-known in this area. They've been around for a long time. They know what they're doing. They're reliable. I would give him four stars anytime.
Description of Work: He was working on a couple of leaking faucets and the replacement of our food disposal.
