Description of Work: David and his crew did an outstanding job on my project. | |I have a large and steep roof on the North side of my house. the run off from the rain is often more than the gutters can handle and the spill over from the gutters has been leeching into my basement. | |Dave came out to evaluate my issue. He suggested a french drain system to catch the excess water and transfer it away from my basement wall and provided an estimate on the spot. I had done some research previously on french drain systems and the construction that he described and the cost that he provided sounded reasonable. | |He followed up the visit with a written estimate within two days. I accepted and we set up a time to do the work. The crew came out on time, worked diligently and finished up on schedule. The crew was easy to communicate with and produced a high quality job. They went the "extra mile" to make that the job was done right. | |When the invoice came it was exactly as quoted. I had an excellent experience with Desert Dry.

They came the first time and claimed that the system they installed would prevent the leaks. They basically did what they said, with a couple of omissions that, while not major, are a sign of inferior quality and lack of thoroughness (failed to clear a couple of window fells, made the sump pump drain too small/short. But, the leaks kept happening. The provide a guarantee and they did come back to do some further work, but that didn't fix the problem either without charging us. We have decided not bring them back anymore as its not worth the time dealing with them. Not recommended.

Desert Dry came highly recommended by our townhouse association and A+ marks by the Better Business Bureau, so it made this financially painful decision to finally spend the money to fix the problem easier. They also 100% warranty their work for the life of the house (that's right, warranty transferable to new owners!). Rick Rethage came by to do the estimate promptly and was very knowledgeable. He was able to explain the problem and specific solution quite well, and quote me a price on the spot. I agreed, and they completed the job in one (long) day. Their guys were awesome - very professional and intent on doing a quality job even if it took longer than planned. The only downside is that we had to hire someone separately to reinstall the drywall and carpet, our choice though as Rick said it would be a cheaper solution than having them do it (Nelson Best with Helping Hands did a great job finishing up this project). So great job, waterproofing completed in one day, reasonable cost!
Description of Work: The basement bedroom in our townhouse needed waterproofing. What was an annoying drip from a window well became minor flooding each time it rained hard, soaking the carpet. Turns out we had groundwater also percolating thru the masonry, could tell by the water stains in the wall. Desert Dry tore down the existing dry wall to the studs, dug a french drain INSIDE the bedroom as well as a hole for the sump pump in the closet, installed flashing on the wall, reframed the faulty window well and connected pvc piping to drain it, connected pvc tubing from the sump pump to the existing downspout, and then covered up the french drain with a neat layer of cement. They left the basement very tidy, were careful to put plastic down on the entire area they walked on so no marks on a light colored carpet at all.

I had a home inspection done on a 30 year old townhouse, and signs of water damage were found in the basement at the bottom of the sheetrock on one of the exterior walls. I got estimates from two other companies. Both these companies told me I needed a sump pump and a drainage system to solve the water problem. Their representatives did not explain the problem well, they just gave an estimate. J.T. from Desert Dry came in and explained the problem in detail, gave alternatives for fixing the problem and said that a sump pump was not necessary and that gravity could be used for drainage. Then his estimate came in $1500 less than the cheapest other estimate. The workmen that performed the job were very professional, arriving almost right on time, and covered everything to keep it clean during construction. Their foreman also did extra work to route the system so as to avoid having to rebuild a fireplace hearth. Outside, the piping was neatly installed and buried. They then cleaned up extremely well after they were done.
Description of Work: Desert Dry installed a drainage system in my basement to pipe water seeping in from exterior cinderblock walls to the outside. It was a gravity system and did not involve a sump pump. The work consisted of jack hammering concrete along the walls, installing mirror drain and pipe inside and routing the drainage pipe outside the house, under an exterior fence and to the rear of my backyard. New concrete was then poured over the drainage system.

Overall very good experience. Both field rep and work crew were punctual and professional during initial site visit and for actual work implementation. Work was performed in a professional and meticulous manner, and completed in a short time. They finished the job in good order and within the time expected and left the area looking as before. The leak has completely stopped despite a number of long drenching rains.
Description of Work: seal crack in below-grade foundation that was leaking into basement during long drenching rains. Also waterproof a 2'x3' brick "patch" that was used to fill in a cutout that was made in the poured cement foundation where the crack occurred.

They did a great job. They worked hard, they did this in one day. This was fantastic, it was everything you'd want when you have someone drilling concrete in your basement. They cleaned up well. If I had to have something like that done again, I'd go back to them for sure.
Description of Work: They came out and gave an estimate to do either the whole house or just a section. We chose to do the lesser job, they installed a sump pump along the back of our house.

The sales process was pretty clear, they didn't make any outlandish promises. Their price was competitive with the higher quality companies that have been doing good service for years. The work was done on time, as promised, however, in a couple of cases, the quality of work was questionable. One of them was that outside the house, the "resolution" they created to the water that was causing the flooding to begin with was not very well executed the first time - the pipes they put in weren't buried sufficiently and became exposed after the first heavy rain. To their credit, however, once they responded (it took a couple of phone calls), they re-did that work and did it to my satisfaction and at no extra charge. I must say to anyone getting waterproofing done that a simple French drain is not the be-all and end-all to the waterproofing process. French drains can get clogged if there is a lot of external erosion, and if the water can't get to the perforated pipe, it will find the path of least resistance, which is usually up. This happened to me. Again, to DD's credit, they came out, re-jackhammered the offending section, poured gravel, and then went outside, found the offending erosion point and filled it in with a dirt/concrete mix. It was nice to see a lifetime warranty actually be something I could rely on when I had to. In the future if I had to do this again I'd ask for more than a simple French drain and would probably plasticize the whole wall, however I'm confident that with the external erosion problems resolved we'll be better off. Basically, Desert Dry are good people. I'd make sure that you stay on top of them to deliver what you discuss and that their workers deliver what their salespeople sold, just as I would do with any company. However, at the end of the day, their primary concern is customer satisfaction and they stand by their work. In the waterproofing community this is more rare than it should be.

The workman showed up a few hours after I was expecting him. When he arrived, he claimed the job would be a 4 hour job, and it ended up taking him almost 7 hours. I tried called 2 different gentleman 3 times (one who gave me the estimate) in the morning trying to find where the workman was who was scheduled to do the work for me. Nobody could find him or get a hold of him until he showed up at my house a few hours after the scheduled time.

We had to wait a while for them to start work (they were very busy with other flooded properties), but on the day work was to begin, they showed up on time and finished it in two days. Our only complaints are that it was hard to get them to call back and confirm with us the date they were coming as it got closer, and we now have several large patches of dead grass from where they let the gravel sit overnight. But overall, we were very happy with the work and two other contractors told us the price they were offering was a good one.

Contractors showed up and did the work, which involved extending a pipe under flagstone front walkway. Crew did not replace the removed stone to set it level with the other stones in the walkway, creating a hazard. Had to call several times. Crew never re-set the stone properly. Managers only cared about getting paid and, rather than try to get the work done properly, simply offered to knock $50 off the more than $2800 bill. They struck me as a company that didn't care about attention to detail, which makes me question the quality of the work done that is not visible above ground. I would not recommend this company.

WE SENT TWO SERVICE CALLS IN RESPONSE TO THE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINTS, AND COMPLETED THE REPAIR WITH HIGH-QUALITY WORKMANSHIP. THE COMPLETED REPAIR WAS INSPECTED AND APPROVED BY THE MEMBER. WHEN WE CALLED TO COLLECT PAYMENT, CUSTOMER BECAME ANGRY AND CONTINUED TO ASSERT THAT THE QUALITY OF THE JOB DIDN'T MEET HIS STANDARDS. WE REDUCED THE PRICE OF THE JOB IN ORDER TO SATISFY THE CUSTOMER AND COMPENSATE HIM FOR HIS INCONVENIENCE. DESPITE PAYING A LOWER PRICE FOR HIGH QUALITY REPAIRS AND MULTIPLE SERVICE VISITS, THE CUSTOMER GAVE US AN UNREALISTICALLY BAD RATING.

Desert Dry sent over a representative to do the estimate with a background in structural engineering, and not just a salesman. He was able to explain how the foundation of my house had been built 100+ years ago, and how that was contributing to the water getting into the basement of my house. He explained the work that needed to be done and gave me an estimate for the waterproofing. We was reasonable in negotiating the price down a little, as I had received other quotes. The team that came to do the work was tidy and courteous, and completed the job in the time promised. We haven't had any flooding problems since!
Description of Work: A trench about 8" wide and one foot deep was dug along the perimeter of the basement, a gravity drain put inside, covered with gravel and then re-cemented. A sump pump was installed just outside the basement door to pump the water away from the house.

Called Desert Dry Waterproofing; Jeff Coats arrived on time for estimate. He evaluated situation and proposed installing "sub floor pressure relief system" (drainage pipes) along rear wall of townhouse leading to existing sump pump. Jeff also suggested extending neighbor's downspout up front to prevent any potential water problem at front wall of basement. Once contract was signed, work was scheduled over 2 days in the following week. Workers arrived on time, put protective plastic sheets over hallway carpeting and basement furniture before rolling up basement carpeting and digging through basement floor concrete. Work was completed professionally, and workers did a good job cleaning up.
Description of Work: Finished basement of townhouse has water problem - water stains were showing up near bottom of wood paneling at rear corner. Need contractor to identify and fix source of water problem. Townhouse is a middle unit. First contractor proposed cutting 5 inches off bottom of paneling and digging trenches along all 4 walls of basement to install drainage pipes to new sump pump at a cost of $5k+. Looking for solution that's less of an "overkill".

The job went very well (although there hasn't been enough rain to judge whether the drains actually work! But the warranty covers the entire time I own the house, and can be transferred once). The contractors showed up exactly on time, laid down plastic to protect my floors, and were extremely polite (and very patient answering my questions). The cost of the job was the same as the estimate. The company was prompt getting back to me after my initial call and did an estimate within a week, but the actual work couldn't be scheduled until two months after that (this may have been due to the heavy flooding at the beginning of the summer, so they were probably busier than usual; some companies I called couldn't even get me an estimate for two months).
Description of Work: The company drilled a trench along three sides of the basement and installed pipes leading to my existing sump pump. They then patched up the trench.

Description of Work: No work done, but that's the amazing thing. My problem was water in basement bedroom. After assessing the problem in 2 visits, the second with a senior advisor. They said they could fix my problem by dredging and waterproofing but first suggested I try a less expensive solution, upgrading my gutters to industrial size and rerouting a downspout. In other words, they talked me out of using them! Honesty from a family run company. If the gutter work proves insufficient I will definitely call them back.
