Techs were knowledgeable and very helpful.

John Beardsley showed up during the window of time I had been given. He went right to work checking the system out which required going into the attic as well as checking the unit outside. He was courteous and professional. A different technician named Craig serviced the HVAC system at my home the week before. He too was very professional and courteous, as well as very thorough. Commonwealth is a company I trust and would recommend highly.

After calling other companies and doing on-line research, I decided that the quote for the type of product was in-line with others. They were prompt, courteous, clean and knowledgeable. I recommend this company.

They called and set up the appointment and arrived on time. Very professional and explained what he was checking. This was on a Wednesday. I left and went out of town and came back sunday morning. It was very cold in the house. Temperature had dropped to 62 in the house. The heater did not work. Tried everything to get it back on. I immediately called the company and left a message. The recording said they would be checking messages. No one called. No heat all day or that night. Called them first thing Monday morning. They were busy and could not get to me until Monday night. Said they were already booked. Seems like I should have had some preference since I had already paid for the service, had a working heater before they came out, and it was very cold. Technician came to the house. His comment was "I was afraid the thermal coupler was not in the right place when I left". He spent 30 min fixing it and putting back in place where it should have been. Again, every one was nice, they were on time, just felt like I should have had a priority, should not say you are checking messages on the weekend, and make sure the system works before you leave.

Brian and Mandy are great. I use them all of the time for Real Estate and think they are very professional and super reasonable...and quick to serve!

I have used them for over 10 years. I did not get them off of Angie's List. I am happy with them and I would recommend them. They come out twice a year. I have a yearly service with them that covers both. It has been a very positive experience with them. Last year I had to have all of my equipment replaced and they made all of the arrangements. They did the installation. I would use them again.

It was good. Our heater broke and we called them for an emergency repair but we didn't hear anything from them for 24 hours. It was not so bad but we were without heat but another company has responded right away. It was in the middle of winter so a lot of heaters are broken.

Currently we are in contract with them. They performed on the services on our HVAC. So we are happy with them. We have not had any issues with them. They call us according to schedule when it is time for us to have maintenance. Price wise they are bit on the pricey side. This is one of those situations where you get what you pay for yet a little more expensive than some of the other ones. I wish they would come down in price.

It was expensive but they were fine. I felt like I got a good deal. I felt I got a good price. Both systems are old and really genuinely needed to be replaced. They did it in a timely manner. The owner was very nice. He didn't come during the actual work but he came first to give the estimate and he was very nice. They were right on time. They did their job and they did it quickly. They were very professional. The owner was super nice and the people that came out were personable. The heating is working fantastic but I haven't used the cooling yet. The price seemed reasonable to me but it's not something I am an expert in. I guess it could have been better. They were very quick. I kept their paperwork and I kept their name and I would call them back and they gave me good warranty for all the different parts and everything.

The repair was made on the next business day and was done for the quoted fee. The work was for a rental property, so it involved coordination with the tenant, me and Commonwealth. The technician, owner and front office staff were all involved in the coordination of making the service happen without any difficulty. Perfect execution of service.

A co-worker recommended Commonwealth for cleaning ducts. I was able to make an appointment within a couple of weeks of calling. The company required half down by credit card. Two workers (Ollie and Richard) showed up timely and wore booties during the process. They were polite, professional, and courteous. They kept me informed of the process as they went along and when I asked. While working on one of the returns on the top floor, something happened and a tube fell down the vent. This required them to cut a small opening in the vent in the basement to retrieve the hose. They repaired the hole with a panel, screws, and tape in a reasonable manner. They cleaned up after themselves on each floor. They were careful with the furnishings as well. Overall, I was pleased with their services.

My heater went out on Christmas day. After trying to troubleshoot on my own and fix it myself, I called 2 other companies to have them come out and determine the problem. Both companies said they had technicians on call during the holiday and they would call me to set up a time to come by and check things out. Both companies never returned my calls. So on 26 December I called Commonwealth. They had same day service available and said they would have a technician come by that day. Nick was my technician and he diagnosed the problem relatively quickly--bad inducer motor. He made a call to see if they had it in stock and unfortunately they did not. Since they did not have one available he said that he could most likely come by the next day if they were able to locate a replacement inducer motor in the area. If not, he would have to wait to get one ordered, which could take a few days. He also reviewed the estimated prices for the repair. Luckily the next day Commonwealth called and said they were able to locate a replacement motor and the repair could take place later that afternoon. When Nick finished with the original service call, he called his company to have them notify me whether or not they were able to locate a replacement inducer motor since I shared with him my bad experiences with the other 2 companies on Christmas. When Commonwealth called, they went over the price and got my approval before notifying the technician to come and do the repair. Nick was again my technician for the repair and he did a great job. After the repair he reviewed some general maintenance tips and what to do if any other major problems happened. His tips were more than the regular "check the filter, etc" maintenance. He showed me some common things that I could easily fix myself. Great professionalism and quality service.

They're very very good and they are responsive and also their prices are really good as well. They do a good job. We're happy with them so far.

On Saturday, I discovered my humidifier was leaking. I first called Sears Home Services since they maintain by HVAC system. They couldn't come check it until Wednesday. So I checked Angie's List and found rave reviews for Commonwealth so I sent them an online request for service. I called them early Monday morning (Veterans Day) and they were out here Monday at 2 p.m. Nic was the technician and he was great. He checked it out thoroughly; explained what he was doing; and then realized there was a problem with the circuit or motor. The unit was over 15 years old so it wasn't worth repairing. I scheduled them to install a new humidifier which they did on Wednesday. The installer was very efficient. This was a painless experience. Every member of the company was extremely professional and focused on doing a great job and satisfying the customer. I will absolutely use them again and highly recommend them!

Exceptional work and service. The owner of the company came out to inspect and give estimate for replacement. Found that previous owners had used another company that had multiple pieces of equipment that were not compatible with each other. Everything is now compatible - the house is warm and running exceptionally more efficiently. This is a trustworthy company.

Commonwealth has serviced our units routinely for general, routine maintenance before so we did not hesitate to call them for our home inspection issues. The unit had been checked in May but the home inspector found it to be slightly out of optimal function with fin cleaning recommended and the temp range a point out of his normal range. Nic from Commonwealth had checked it in May and at that time had discussed the fins were starting to get a little dirty and that we might considering chemical cleaning at some point. At that time the cooling check fell in the recommended range. On return Nic checked the heating coils which were fine, he called me down to verify, he chemically cleaned the air conditioner fins, added a small amount of coolant (?) to bring the cooling to optimal range. While he was here the loan/property assessor for the buyers arrived and she was curious about what he was doing, she had never heard of cleaning AC fins, he was exceptionally patient answering all her questions about maintaining HVAC units. That was not part of his job but he was very nice with her which I appreciated.. For us Commonwealth has been a good and reliable company.

After the hvac technician replaced my capacitor on ac unit, ac worked wonderfully cooling the house within 2 hours, Nic was a professional and knew what he was doing, he had a pleasant personality and got the job done right, he was punctual and explained everything he was doing during the process which I appreciated being a single lady. My 8 year old and I had a good night rest, this company is top notch and saved me money and fit us in the same day I called, June 25, 2013. Thank you Nic. I am having my hot water pump replaced June 26, 2013, tomorrow as there is a small leak and will use this company they are honest. Nic was extremely knowledgeable and tried to save me money, and did not lie to me like other hvac companies have taken advtangage of my lack of knowledge. Do yourself a favor use this company always, they beat all estimates I had received prior and Nic did the job. Call them for all of your hvac air conditioning needs and hot water pump replaements.

The fan on my AC unit outside stopped working. I could hear something trying to run and buzz but the fan wouldn't turn. I did some googling and checked out Youtube about the problem and saw it was a job that I could probably do myself but honestly I wasn't 100% sure that the problem was what people were saying but I was a good 80%. Instead I contacted Commonwealth Cooling and Heating and just wanted it taken care of. This company replaced my whole AC and heating unit a few years ago. After today im thinking that I should have just shopped around instead of trusting the owner of the company because he lives across the street from me. Today 5/21/13 a tech came out to look at my unit. In a few minutes I was told that to fix my unit it would be approximately 400 dollars!!! I asked what was wrong and he said that I needed a dual capacitor that he was going to charge me 185 dollars for and I needed to have my coils chemically cleaned which was going to be 165 dollars. Doing those two thing with service was gonna cost me almost 400 dollars!!!! I kindly told the guy I would like to pay for him coming out and that's it. I called Trible's to see how much for a dual capacitor and my mouth dropped when they said 18 dollars!!! Yes 18 dollars!!!! This guy was gonna charge me 185 dollars for something I got for 18 dollars!!!!! They were great at Trible's!! I picked up some foam coil cleaner which I was told to use to clean my coils. I got 2 cans for 6 dollars each. That's 12 dollars for a chemical clean which I was gonna be charged 166 dollars for. So in 20 minutes I was able to clean my coils and fix my A/C Unit and it cost me 30 DOLLARS NOT 400 DOLLARS!!!! It was as easy as changing a freaken light bulb. I can't believe that people can be so dishonest just to make a buck. I wouldn't let these people clean up my dogs poop. If I didn't educate myself Commonwealth Cooling and Heating would have charged me 400 dollars for something that cost me 30 dollars and 20 minutes of my time. Beyond disappointed. Make sure you educate yourself or they may try to get you. 6/26/13 Let me update my review since Brian contacted me a month later to point out that I gave them "F" in being on time and professional which I agree they were on time and they were professional so they get a big "A" in that area. Speaking about some "flat rate" charge and still not understanding or seeing how dishonest it is to charge someone almost 400 dollars for a job that cost me 30 dollars to fix just blows my mind and i'm not gonna waste any more of my time or cell phone minutes to listen to the reason's around the 300+ up charge.

We discovered Commonwealth is family-owned and Brian and his wife run it. They were prompt, responsive, knowledgeable and honest. In each of the properties and situations, they brainstormed with us on the best solution. They never tried to push us to replace anything from scratch but weighed all sorts of pros and cons on us to have us come to the best resolution for our budget and the situation at hand. One of the big things for me has been, with three properties, being at the mercy of service providers. More often than not I've been sitting waiting for people to show up, not do what they have been tasked to do and resolve issues correctly the first time. This frustration led me to join Angie's List, as I wanted some accountability. I have never been put in any of those situations by Commonwealth. They show up on time, are straight shooters, work with you and are kind/friendly. Of all the people I've worked with - chimney people, gutter people, electricians, plumbers, contractors, landscaping services - they are always the ones I never worry about.

Each time they come for a service (including irregular maintenance), they do a professional and meticulous job.

We initially were looking for an HVAC contractor to disconnect our existing AC unit in our backyard and re-install the unti in a nearby location, as a result of a patio installation by a Landscape Company. We had already lined up another company to do the job, but when the time came to do the work, they could not accomodate the schedule. We were now in a position where we were going to delay the landscape project. Our landscape contractor told us they had used Commonwealth on their other projects and recommended them. We contacted them and they were able to schedule the work on short notice. The disconnect, move, and re-connect was going to cost about $500. Our existing unit was over 20 years old and undersized for the house. Neither Commonwealth, nor any of the other HVAC companies we contacted, would/could guarantee that the existing old unit would work properly after being evacuated, disconnected, and re-connected. If the move was done and it ended up failing, we would be in the market for a new unit. We decided it was best to forego spending the $500 dollars and hope the old unit still worked and asked Commonwealth if they could install a new unit on the same time schedule. They were able to complete the removal of the old unit, allow the landscape contractor to complete the patio, then come back on short notice to install our new unit. We ended up with a new high efficiency unit (and quieter) at a resonable cost. ($5500.00) We were very impressed and thankful that Commonwealth worked to accomodate a tight timeline and work around the other contractor's schedule.
