Big Steve's Tree Care

I called him, he called back, he came out, they showed up when they said they would, did a fantastic job and left as if they were never even there...a truly AWESOME experience in an area with typical and awful contractors usually!!!

The work was performed in one day, with everything cleaned up and hauled away.

We called them to get a price. We received a call back within the same day and scheduled a delivery. We had to reschedule once due to the weather and they were apologetic and the next time they came and the driver was very nice and did a great job.

I contacted Big Steve's via the website email along with two other recommend Angie's List providers. They responded via phone the next day, scheduled a time for an estimate in the next 48 hrs, showed up promptly, were professional and provided a reasonalbe estimate based on reports for similar work on Angie's List. After several days and no response from the other providers, I offered Big Steve's the job. They scheduled a time within the next week, showed up as scheduled, preformed the work as stated, cleaned the area serviced and were extremely professional. I finally heard from one of the other providers three weeks after the service was performed and have never heard from the third provider. I would definityl recommend Big Steve's.

We had Big Steve deliver us a half-cord of firewood. The firewood was $175 and then there was an additional charge of $40 for stacking the wood (well worth it in my opinion). The stacking charge is done by the foot so if you're wood pile is a significant distance from the delivery point then this could add up. The wood has been excellent so far and we have no complaints on the wood quality. A lot of wood guys claim that they deliver a half-cord but Big Steve actually did deliver a half-cord. They'll be our go-to for firewood from now on.

They were prompt in returning calls and delivering the wood. The wood is really damp though and does not burn without a lot of care and help. The wood hisses, steams, and foams. I have yet to buy wood from anyone that is sufficiently dry to burn well the same season. It seems like we need it in our garage for a year before it is ready no matter where we get it.

I can't remember exactly how much we spent, it might have been $160, but either way the price was about the same as what we paid last year. However, this year we actaully got twice the amount of wood. So glad we didn't get ripped off like last year. They returned calls (even with a little back and forth), were punctual, and left us with the correct amount of firewood. Only minor issue is that the wood wasn't fully seasoned or maybe stored outside, so it was a little damp, but still burns and we are happy. We would call them again next time without question. Excellent quality and workmanship. The price is a bit high, but worth it.

We ordered a third of a cord of wood. It was delivered when promised and appears to be good seasoned oak. It was delivered to our driveway and we carried and stacked the wood. We were happy with the service.

They arrived early and got right to work. The workers took great care to secure large limbs so that they didn't damage property as they were lowered to the ground. They were very flexible about added work that was identified after work began and a reasonable charge for the additional time and work. Clean up was good with little evidence of the work that took place. Removing some of the trees produced a large amount of saw dust which was unable to be completely removed but there's not much remaining. The property looks significantly better with little chance that falling tree limbs will be causing any damage, absent a large storm.

different price when they arrived than when quoted over the phone. Delivery man even called back to the office to get them to honor their price, and they declined to do so. Told me that unless I wanted the firewood dumped in the middle of the driveway blocking all the cars it would be an extra price. I appreciate the fast service, and don't know yet what the quality of the wood is, but this is poor customer relations and business practices. I am dissapointed, as they were so highly rated in Angie's list, and they shouldn't be misleading customers.

I spoke with Steve several times before hiring him for the job. He was easy to get along with and came by the house to explain exactly what would be done. The crew did a wonderful job. Several neighbors have commented on how great the trees look--not something that you would expect someone to notice. We are very happy with Steve and his team's work and look forward to using him again.

Big Steve arrived on time for the estimate and thecrew arrived on time for the actual work. They worked constantly w/o breaks. There were no surprises when the bill was presented at work completion. I would definitely consider using them again.

Big Steve responded to my email in less than 24 hours. I told him i wanted a TRUE cord (4 ' x 4' x 8', or 128 cu ft, of tightly stacked parallel) of seasoned hardwood delivered. He said that's how he measures it and it would be stacked in the dump truck, so that i could see exactly what i was getting. NOTE: For the last five year, we've been jerked around and lied to by various outfits that cheated us on the quantity and quality of firewood. Big Steve's arrived as scheduled, two days later, friendly, careful on our property, and delivered exactly what we'd agreed upon. It's the first TRUE cord we've received in five years of searching. Not only is it all seasoned hardwood, but it is neatly cut in shorter, narrower pieces which can fit into smaller wood stoves or inserts. The smaller piece size also makes it easier to get a fire started and keep it going. I don't know if the price is good. We've never gotten an honest full cord of hardwood before, so there's nothing to compare it to. Overall, we're thrilled. We will happily recommend Big Steve's to all our friends and call him next time we need firewood.

Every piece of the tree landed exactly where Big Steve's crew wanted it to land. Neighbors' fences were not harmed in the operation. The crew cleaned up beautifully, removing all pieces of the trees and all sticks/leaves from the yard and returned the following morning to blow sawdust into the woods and get up anything that might have been missed the night before. They had worked from 9 in the morning until 8 in the evening on November 2. While we did not purchase stump removal, but I'm sure Big Steve would do just as good a job with that as he did with bringing the trees down and trimming.

They arrived on time and did a good job of topping the tree and making certain it did not hit the fence or house.

Steve, who actually came out to give the bid, was very forthright and direct. He assessed the job and said what he could do. He told me he could come the following Tuesday. He was very responsive and quick. He sent a crew out the following week and the job was done. They cleaned up after themselves. I could not have asked for better. The price was very fair. I would recommend them to others. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

I would definitely use Big Steve's Tree Care again. The work was done in a timely manner. The trees looked great and the post tree work clean up was excellent.

We had four estimates that time and they were the cheapest. They took care of the problem and removed the tree the same day. They came back later and cleaned up. They ground the stump out. They were careful as the tree was overhanging. They did not cause any damage. The service overall was very good. Their price was excellent compared to the others. They were very punctual. They took a little longer to clean thoroughly.

They did a great job, including going above and beyond to help stabilize my new firewood rack. Would highly recommend Big Steve's services. I've been burning the firewood for a week or so now, and it's good stuff!

Steve called me back straightaway and arranged an appointment that fit my schedule. the guys arrived on time, speedily delivered and stacked the wood in the back yard, and didn't leave a mess on the driveway or the path where they delivered the wood. The wood is high quality and burns well. Will defintiely use they guys again!

I called Steve after seeing his listing on AL. I got a quick call back and made arrangements to have my 1/2 cord of firewood delivered. As promised, all of the wood was oak and there were no misc scraps of other wood. I ordered a 1/2 cord from someone on craigslist last year and did not get this much wood. I would order from Steve again.

We called Big Steve's for an estimate on removing branches from a tree damaged by Hurricane Irene. There was no danger to property, so we waited long enough that the initial demand for tree services would have abated a bit. Big Steve responded promptly to our request and provided a written estimate that we considered reasonable based on past experience (two other firms that we asked for estimates did not follow up and/or did not show up). The work was performed, quite satisfactorily, while we were out of town--all damaged branches removed from both the tree and the ground, no debris left on the property. We never actually met anyone from Big Steve's, but we would certainly use them again given their responsiveness and the quality of their work.

Very pleased with the results, tree looks good and roof is no longer in danger.

I called a couple of times and we exchanged voicemails until we connected. They explained the process and costs and we set up a time for delivery within 2-3 days of when I called. The guys from Big Steve's arrived exactly at the time they indicated they would. They had to wheel barrow the wood all the way around my house to where I wanted it stacked. It was raining but the guys remained pleasant and they honored the Angie's List coupon. Firewood was delivered and stacked in less than 30 minutes and the fees were in line with the phone discussion.
