Big Steve's Tree Care

It is a good place. I thought I can do the work myself. His price was reasonable. I don’t have any dislikes. He returned the call and he gave me a quote. I had a number of trees that I wanted to take out and I decided that is something that I could do rather than having him come in and do it. If I had the work done I would have him do it. He was very good. I have a big tree in front and if I am trying to get that done, I will go back to him. He was responsive. They don’t have a big staff and he called me. He gave me the quote over the phone and he didn’t come to see the job. He was very good about what his prices were and what work he would do. He was very professional.

Excellent. We had to reschedule due to weather once (ice storm), but they were there on time and completed with no issues.

The contractor was very professional, they arrived a little late the 1st day but it was due to vehicle problems. They arrived only after about a 30 min delay and proceeded immediately. They were quick and for the price I was satisfied. We had obtained 3 estimates and Big Steve's was the best. One contractor (who will remain nameless) was asking $10,000 for our job. 10 grand? For 3 trees? You must be drunk, guy!! The nerve of that guy. Big Steve's was great - the cleanup was a bit tough b/c of alot of the sawdust from the cut trees still remained on my house, but I was able to rinse most of it off with my garden hose a couple of days later. Overall it was a decent price - would have liked it to be under $5000, but hey, we needed the trees removed and we are alot more relieved when the next big wind storm or hurricane comes through.

He has a good knowledge of trees and did not try to sell me on more services than I needed.

We were told it would take approximately 10 hours to cut down the tree and that they would start at 9:00am. A crew of 5 showed up at 8:50am, surveyed and prepared the area, gathered their tools, removed the section of fence and began the process of cutting down the tree. They were very careful with the tree right next to the house and a wooden deck below. Because of the location of the tree they tied off the limbs and tree trunk sections that were cut and then lowered them by rope. They completed taking down the tree, grinding the stump, removing the mulch and replaced the section of fence in about 9 1/2 hours. The whole crew was very professional and took the time to ensure everything was done safely.

The company delivered the firewood as scheduled. The amount we ordered far exceeded what we expected for the price. The wood was well seasoned and has been the best firewood we have ever ordered. We will definitely use this company again in the future next time we need some wood.

The work was don promptly and in a professional manner. Two old pines had grown into electic wires. We had to have Dominion Power remove the trees from the wires and then the Big Steve's crew return and removed the remainder.

Steve himself came over for the estimate within a day or two of my calling. The work was scheduled a few weeks out and he worked around my schedule. The workers were on time, very professional and courteous. The estimate was for one day and they worked well into the dark but they had to come back the next morning to finish, which was fine. They had to remove a piece of our fence to access the yard and replaced it that evening so I could put my dogs in the yard, which was important to me. The yard was not as ripped up as I expected from the equipment, also good. I would definitely recommend Big Steve's and would use them again without hesitation.

I contacted Big Steve's to assess out trees that were damaged in the summer storm to determine if they needed pruning or removal. They came out within a day or two to look at the trees and gave me an estimate for pruning within a day. Once I signed the contract, they were out within a week or so to do the work. They came when they said they would, performed the work, and cleaned up after themselves. I thought the price was good and the service was very professional

I walked the owner, Steve, through my property and based upon previous estimates, explained the work that might be needed. I received a very reasonably priced and timely estimate, but choose another company - primarily because I choose not to remove trees at this time. In the future, I will consider Big Steve's Tree Care for Tree removal.

They were fine. We didn't have any complaints about them whatsoever. They are efficient and they cleaned up the yard after they were done. They are very very fast.

I was satisfied with the process and the estimate but not the estimate itself. The cost was higher than what I would like. He was prompt, came out, did what he I asked him to do.

Very straightforward engagement. Steve provided an estimate within several days of the original request, offered Angie's List discount, and kept the estimate price for 6 months as we made our decision. He walked me through the need (or lack of need) for city permits to close the streets and reserve parking. They removed and replaced fencing, did as little damage to the existing landscaping as possible, and had both trees removed in one day. They returned a second day to grind down the stumps, but they were very good about ensuring that there was no collateral damage, all debris (other than the stray saw dust) was removed, and Steve followed up to ensure I was satisfied before sending the final invoice and collecting payment.

Ordering the wood was painless and I was able to setup everything over email (Big Plus). They showed up right on time and even called when they left the yard to confirm they were on the way. The wood was of good quality and has burned well in my fireplace. I would most likely order wood from this group again. *Note - I thought about ordering a full cord and ended up with a half cord. That was plenty of wood and I am really glad I didn't get the full cord.

I called to get a price for a full cord of firewood. Steve quoted me the price and what it would cost for his men to stack it for me as opposed to just leaving it piled in the driveway. We agreed on a delivery date and time. The truck arrived right on time. His men were polite and worked quickly to unload and stack the wood exactly where I'd requested it be put. They also cleaned up whatever little debris was created by getting the wood off the truck and stacked. I will definitely be calling Big Steve's Tree Care again.

Following yet another wind storm and branches falling near our cars, we decided it was time to have the trees taken care of. We contacted a few different tree companies, but Big Steve's was the best with regard to promptness and a written estimate. The work was completed within the week and the area was cleaned when they were done. We will certainly use them in the future.

It was a very good price compared to the competition. The technique he used did not get all of the roots. He prefers not to remove the sawdust. He charges extra to remove it. If we had asked him to remove the sawdust we might have been able to tell more readily that he didn't get all the roots. They raked the sawdust around to make it level but you can't see below the surface to see how good they did at getting the roots out. We would probably use him again.

Very professional crew. All work was done to expectations. I am going to hire them for a bigger job at another house.

I am a return customer because Big Steve did such a great job for me 4 months ago. I had 4 quotes given from other tree services I found on Angie's List. Big Steve's was the lowest. The crew showed up at 9:00 am as promised. Julio was the foreman and very nice and professional. I spoke to a few of the other crew members who were also very nice. There was a lot of wood to remove due to the large pine trees. They had all of the trees down by early afternoon. After dumping all of the stumps and shredded branches, they returned with their stump grinder. All of the grinding was done by about 4:00 pm. After they left, the only evidence you could see of the old trees, or that the crew had been in the yard, was small piles of mulch around the old tree bases. I was informed that this would be the case when I signed the contract. They even ran their leaf blowers to get all of the pine needles and cones out of the yard. My wife and I are very happy with the experience and the results of dealing with Big Steve's Tree Care!!!

I called and left a message on Christmas Eve to order some firewood. Big Steve's called me back on 12/26 and scheduled the delivery for a couple days later. I ended up not being at the house when they arrived and called. I explained where I wanted the wood stacked and they took care of it in the snow. 2nd year of use and I'll use them again next year!
