After buying an Angie's List big deal for appliance repair (where the advertisement said the service area included Virginia, Maryland and DC), I was told on the phone that they would not come out to honour the coupon when I gave my address, which is in Maryland, less than 2 miles from the DC state line (and I was told on the phone they would service DC, but not come out to Takoma Park). The person I had on the phone was very unfriendly in general, I would not bother to call them up again.

American Residential has been great. I have used them 3 times now. He has always come out and been on time. He has always tried to give me the best price with options. I recommend him highly. I really like that he calls and tells you what is wrong and explains it to you. If you work with him a little bit by finding out the model and serial number of the appliance that needs service he will have parts with him to give you a working appliance on the same day of service. I like knowing that I have American Residential as part of my home and home rental repair team. Give him a try and you will be pleased.

Overall excellent service from start to finish. I was very happy with the repaired washing machine.

I called the company and actually got the owner on the phone. I explained that I needed my fridge repaired because it was not holding the temp very well. He explained that it could be a number of things, however he did not service the brand that I had - Summit - undercounter fridge. In the end of the conversation, he said that he could come out and give a probable diagnosis, but that he had no access to the manufacturer parts.

Our refrigerator would occassionally stop freezing. He checked the compressor and explained in detail the components that could have been causing the issue. He showed me how to check the issue when the problem was actually occuring. Using what he taught me I can diagnose the problem. We will call him when the problem occurs again and he will come back out with the appropriate parts. We couldn't ask for anything more.

I called him on Friday and explained my problem. He said he knew what it was, that he had the part, and that he could be there on Saturday (the next day) before noon. He said he would call me about 45 minutes before he arrived. He did everything he said he was going to do. My refrigerator was repaired in less than an hour. The problem was the defrost heating element. He had to take the freezer panel off the inside back of the freezer and several other parts to get to the heating element. I felt he was professional and knew what he was doing. He even gave us some advice about the settings for the refrigerator to save the fan from running too much with no gain. You can't beat his pricing structure. I would recommend him. In fact, I asked for his business card to pass info on to others.

I called Ben on Tuesday afternoon around 4:30 and lefted a message. He called me back that evening around 7:00 p.m. He scheduled an appoinment for the next day betrween 9:00 and 12:00. He called 45 minutes prior to his arrival and confirmed my address and his his actual arrival time. He was very prompt. Ben diagnosis the problem within 10 minutes. He not only explain the problem but he also gave me a website to look up the price for the part needed to fix the dryer. He asked me how old the dryer was and how many times I had it serviced. He had the part on his truck but he want me to know the costed of the product so I could make a informed decision. I was very impressed. He was very knowledgeable about his craft. He cleaned up behind himself. He was extremely couretous and neat. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to my familiy and friends.

It went OK. I was frustrated by how slow the technician worked and that he wasn't able to diagnose all the problems.

Appointment to fix my annoying noisy mini-fridge was easy to set up. and quot;Benand quot; experimented and found that by manipulating and tying some tubes in the back he was able to end the noise. I had previously engaged someone else to fix the problem but that person's solution only lasted a week or so--Ben put an end to the issue permanently. I was extremely happy with his service and professionalism.

I called Ben today at 12:30. He was at our house by 2, and done in 20 minutes. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue and our oven is working great again. Ben was very punctual and responsive, and I will DEFINITELY call him again for any of our appliances.

I found this company on Angie's list and based on their good reviews I decided to give them a call. I called on a Tuesday afternoon and was able to schedule an appointment the very next day. They gave me a window of 11am - 1pm and the technician, Aaron, showed up a little before noon. He analyzed the problem quickly and had the part in stock in his truck, which he replaced in about 20 minutes. He was a very nice young man and incredibly knowledgeable in his field. While he was working on the appliance we discussed the differences between various appliance companies and it came to mind that I had another appliance (my dishwasher) that was having a problem I completely forgot about. This was not on his schedule but he offered to take a look at that for me as well. Within 20 minutes of fixing up my refrigerator, he had fixed my dishwasher door as well - all of this without needing to call back and pay another and quot;house calland quot; fee. Aaron was honest, personable and very good at his job. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future for any of my appliance needs.

Very well - technician was responsive and professional

Ben from ARA came out the same day that I called. When looking at my frig he recognized right away that with the last repair job that I had done a wrong part had been placed in my frig. After further investigation he found the control board was bad. He didn't have the part in stock and said that it would have to be ordered. Later that day he called and gave me the web site with the cheapest price and said I should order it and let him know when I received the part. I checked around on the internet and called several local parts stores and he was correct. I ordered the part with next day delivery (a little pricey but I needed my frig!) When it arrived I called Ben back and he said he would be out the next morning to work on it. My refrigerator is now working. Ben was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very professional. I would definitely call him again. Note: I am assuming that he wanted me to order the part because of the shipping options and how much time vs money I wanted to spend. The part cost $140 with shipping and with Angie's List coupon the labor and service call cost $100. Cheaper than buying a new frig. I am very pleased with the work done by ARA.

Great. Seems to have days that he comes into DC, but is very accommodating re time.

Their service was fine. The big deal process was easy. There was just a part that was broken and he was able to fix it.

The serviceman showed up exactly on time, and took a look at the icemaker and thought that it could be one of two issues. He tried one solution, and whn it didn't work within 24 hrs, he came right back (at no additional labor cost) the next day at my convenience and installed the second possible solution which worked. I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call again.

Ben came out on time (one of the complaints from other folks) and spent 2 hours clearing the drain line. Seems they clog up over the years. We have been watching it for several days since then and no more water build up. We would have paid several hundred dollars without the coupon (thanks Angie's list) and Ben did a great job, was on time, and was very polite and proessional. My wife was especially impressed with how well and easily he explained what was happening and what he was doing.

Well... they arrived on time both times they came to our house. The first time, they did a quick fix of emptying the external parts of the drain. There were some bobby pins and other items in the way, so it was reasonable price for what they fixed. However, a few days later, we were still getting the error message. On a second visit, and after they ordered a new drain motor, twice (because the first one they ordered was the wrong one). It still didn't work and they were getting a new error message and they gave up. They left without charging us, however, they didn't re-stack the dryer on to the washer. Overall, I just wanted them to say if they couldn't fix it, say it up front instead of having us hopeful that it would be fixed by working with them. Because of this, I give them a D, even though the work that was performed the first trip would've been acceptable if it worked.

The technician, Ben, was very friendly and clearly knew what he was doing. He worked quickly to resolve the problem. My only complaint is that the company name is so bland that I couldn't remember it when I needed a repair on another appliance and I ended up having to call another company! But really that's my fault. I finally just found my receipt from the refrigerator repair and have filed it so that I can be sure to call American Residential Appliances when I need help in the future. They were great.

I do not like to say bad things about a business but I feel I must do so here. I sold my neighbor our 4 month old washer and dryer set. When they took it to their house and ran a load of laundry, it was not completing a cycle. This was surprising as it was working fine when were using it. I felt bad and offered to pay for the repair and said that I would try to find someone right away. I chose this business because of the great reviews here on Angie's List. When I saw this listing, the name sounded vaguely familiar but I couldn't be sure. I called and made an appt for Monday since it was Saturday afternoon. He gave a timeframe in which someone would be there in the afternoon. That Monday, I got off work early so I could be home to arrange for paying after the repair. When I got home, they still had not been there. At around 4 I called his number and he answered. I asked why he had not come yet and that my neighbor had been waiting almost four hours. He said that the and quot;computerand quot; must have messed up the online scheduling. The problem with his reason of a computer error is that I personally called and made the appointment with him- not online for a 'computer' to mess it up. This is where his name popped into my head. This was the same business that worked on our stove exhaust awhile back that our homeowners sent. His worker did the same thing to us. The guy did not come for the first appt and gave the exact same excuse. I had to reschedule for another day and the guy was two hours late for that appt. When the guy was done, there were six screws left on the cupboard floor that belonged to the unit. I called and complained and Ben assured us that it was fine and said they were not coming back to put them back on. If you put something back together and there are parts left over- it CANNOT by definition be fine. He said he could come out the next day maybe. I told him to forget it- that I would call someone else. I see all the good reviews, and maybe most of the repairs he does is okay, but so far my experience with the business is far from reliable. Like most folks, I don't have time to take multiple hours off of work to wait around for someone to show up.

My washing machine was not draining, so I called at 9:00 AM on a Monday (2 days before July 4th), and he was at my house before 11:00 AM. He replaced the drain pump and cleaned up after himself in the span of about 20 minutes. Excellent service and I appreciated his rapid response.

Late on a Thursday evening, I noticed that the ice in our icemaker was beginning to melt and that the freezer didn't feel cold at all. When I checked the refrigerator at 5:30 a.m. the following morning, it was clear that the only thing that was working was the interior light. I quickly searched the listings in Angie's List, looking particularly for a company with same-day as well as exceptional service. I called at 7:00 a.m. and at 7:02 Ben Ahmed called me back. He asked a few diagnostic questions and then asked if an 8:00 a.m. service call would be ok. I was stunned! He was at our house at 8:15, quickly found the problem, showed my husband and me the part that was damaged and fixed it straight away. I decided since he had the fridge pulled out that I would do a quick sweep and clean-up. Ben even helped clean/dust the side and top of the fridge! We cannot speak highly enough of Ben's customer service and reasonable rates.

I called Ben Ahmed, who returned my call promptly, at 910AM. He called, once again, when less than twenty minutes away as a courtesy since I mentioned we had teenage girls, to include our daughters, for a sleep-over get-together. My wife, mother in law and I all felt very comfortable with Ben and his style of service. I observed his meticulous attention to detail when crimping open barrel terminals to create custom connectors on the fly for the universal replacement part which I must point out was much larger and better built than OEM part. Ben went on to explain how air flows through coils and fan into freezer and then routed via plastic panels into refrigerator. My wife was pleased enough with his timely repair of refrigerator that she scheduled him to return to repair a sixteen year old washer and dryer stacked-unit.

I'm glad everyone had such a great experience with Ben. I called him on Monday morning - I'm guessing the phone number on his profile rang through to his house because it sounded like I'd interrupted him and his family during breakfast. I told him I needed service and although he was obviously distracted, he clearly said he could come out on Wednesday. He took my name, phone number, address and asked what the issue was. I scheduled a time between 9 and noon and waited all morning for him to arrive. At about 11am I called to ask if he was coming by. He asked for 5 minutes to "call the office." When he returned my call, he said I was supposed to call him on Tuesday to confirm that I wanted someone to come by and fix the dishwasher today, which I believe is a rather unorthodox way of doing business - no service provider I've ever worked asks the customer to confirm their appointments. Then he told me that coming to the house today would be difficult at best. I thanked him and called the next service provider on your list. I'm sure if he'd honored the appointment, the repair would have been completed professionally, but I'm bewildered at the list of A grades he has received if this is the way he usually runs his business.
