Able Plumbing Inc

My basement bathroom (shower and toilet) were backed up, even after the septic tank had been treated (by another Angie's List provider), so I called Able Plumbing. The real problem (that is, the problem that caused my call to Vienna Septic in the first place) was the sump-pump (five years old) which had shut down during a storm about two months before. The very kind and neat two-man team installed a new pump (which happened to be on their truck due to a prior cancelation!) within about an hour and advised me on how to keep track of the pump's performance. A dirty job, but the place was immaculate and everything was working perfectly when they left. Fantastic service.

I was acting on behalf of a friend who was traveling through Europe and learned of a toilet leak in her condominium unit so at her request, I called a plumber for her, looking no further than Able Plumbing, Inc. who'd done wonderful work in my own home. The office staff at Able was incredibly accommodating (kudos to Marlene in particular); the plumber arrived right on schedule (kudos to Nelson); and the job was performed exceptionally well. Above and beyond the technics of the job, Able helped me manage the communication with the condo's owner overseas; Able's office staff unfailingly patient and understanding as I tried to bridge the gap "across the pond". The job was performed beautifully, the cost was a very reasonable "market rate" and Able was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. It always is.

I noticed my 10 - year old sump pump making a "humming" noise, so I called Able Plumbing to have it replaced. They gave me the next availability and when they showed up, they were removed the old sump, installed the new sump and cleaned up after themselves. You couldn't even tell they had been there. The best part for me is that the cost of this sump cost what I recalled it costing 10 years ago from another provider. I got great service both times, but Able Plumbing provides it for a very reasonable cost. On a tight budget that really matters. Great service, shows up on time, great prices...it doesn't get any better. THANK YOU!!!

The service man was extremely polite and informative. He noticed that the handle on my outside spigot was broken and suggested that he fix it for a minimal additional cost which I appreciated. He worked efficiently and kept me informed about what he was doing. Best experience I've had with a plumber.

The service man came when expected and was friendly and professional and assessed the job. However, the leaking continued 5 days after the recommended time period in which the leaked water should have dried up. I called after the 5th day, and the service man came within a couple of hours and found a second leak and fixed the problem without additional cost. I would continue to use this service.

All went well. Danillo is a very good plumber and provided excellent service. My only concern is that the price for the repairs was more than I expected.

This was the only plumber who wanted to charge less than 250.00 for a 15 minute job. Rob was on time and professional.

Do not call Able Plumbing if you have anything big, for they are UN-Able. I have an ejector sewage pump that works, but is old. Additionally, the lid is rusty. I want both replaced. I contacted Able in early June. I sent them a photo of the site. At the time I was only interested in a new lid. However, in July, I resubmitted my query with to include the pump replacement. (To get to the sump requires a simple removeal of a laundry sink, where one leg sits on the lid.) I followed-up with a call, where the person who takes orders, read my email, told me it would be $1100 or $1200, and scheduled an appointment. A day or two later, I received an email saying that Able would not do the work? Upon calling, the concern was with the sink removal at that price. When "Al" called me back, he said that he would come look at the work. Monday, Tony came to the house to review the details. He informed me that if the bolts could not be removed properly, the job would cost more due to having to install a new liner. (I was fine with that.) When I received the quote yesterday for almost $1700, I offered to remove the sink myself, and by doing that, could we get closer to the $1200? Today, I received an email saying "No" and Able rescinded the offer to perform the work for any price. I find that Able is not professional and has significant difficulting communicating with customers.

I had 3 leaky faucets. I had used Able Plumbing for 10 years with good results. But this project was the turning point. On July 2, they sent the plumber Bryan or Bryant. He looked at the kitchen sink faucet which had a very slow drip. I asked him to change the washer, like my handyman had done before. He said he needed to replace the whole spigot apparatus. I had a replacement spigot which I purchased at Home Depot just in case it was needed. He did not want to use that. He was very forceful and refused to take the job unless he installed shutoff valves under the sink. This would add a lot to the cost of the job and was an unnecessary expense.. The current shut off valve in the basement has been working sufficiently for many years. It seemed that he worked on commission and was looking out for his best interests and not mine. We were at odds from the start. He looked at the 2nd sink and had no problem if I used the new spigot he provided. Next, he looked at the bathroom spigot and sink. the spigot was dripping. I had a replacement spigot. He did not want to use it. the shut off valves were corroded and needed to be changed. When he saw it he said "I'm not touching that!" We went to the basement to turn off the main shut off. He saw it and said "I'm not touching that! you have to call the county to turn the water off at the street" Finally he left refusing the job. That was the best path since he was clearly uncomfortable with the whole situation, as was I. I called their office. Marlene directed me to talk to Rob who said to schedule an appointment with Marlene and he would come by and look at it. Marlene scheduled the appointment said that the plumber Bryant was denied access to an area and therefore he refused the job. The plumber was never denied access to any area for any reason. I wanted the work done. On July 11, at my request, the county turned the water off at 9am . We waited for Able Plumbing to arrive. About 1:30 or 2, I called to confirm the appointment. Marlene said there was nothing on her schedule for me that day. She was very apologetic. I know that she made the appointment but someone else at Able Plumbing, a plumber perhaps?, removed it from her schedule. I called the county and waited until about 5 for the water to go back on. If you decide to use Able Plumbing, ask them to send someone other than that plumber Bryan. He gets an F for people skills, F for professionalism, F for integrity; F for courtesy and respectfulness. After that, who cares to find out about competency. The Ladies in the office get an A+ 8/15/2013 Chandler's Plumbing fixed the problems for which I called Able Plumbing. #1. they offered me a property manager discount. #2) They rebuilt all of the faucets that were leaking or changed the washer. #3. they did their best ot keep my costs at a minimun, #4) did not demand the installation of shut of valves, or unnecessary work, #5) they were exceptionally accommodating.

Very responsive, Able Co. snaked the line, clear the back up, so that sewage flowed. Problem resolved.

Able was available and made an appointment for the next day. They also provided a price quote and told me about a special coupon for Angie's List members. Their plumber arrived on time and had the drain cleared in about 15 minutes.

It went very well. We first talked to the receptionist/dispatcher who asked us to email photos of the existing setup. We also included a ruler in the picture to show approximate distances between the water heater, the dryer, and the gas radiant water boiler. Rob called back after looking at the pictures and quoted us a price (with some wiggle room for extra time needed to handle the pipes). He was able to tell us what he would install (an AO Smith heater with model number). The price quote was $1200 for an easy installation plus an extra $200 for extra time to deal with the tight space for pipes. Able/Rob's quote was right at the same price as another top Angie's list provider in the area. So we called the other plumber and asked if his model was comparable. This is where things get strange. The other plumber told us that we were asking for a completely different water heater (the model Rob/Able quoted us was a GCV-50 Direct Vent heater) and he would require an extra 1000 dollars. He also told us that we were getting the wrong water heater since our heater was not direct vent. This seemed odd since all pictures of direct vent gas heaters online looked exactly like what we had. Anyway, we decided to go with Able Plumbers. Rob came in, took out the old water heater, and installed the new one right on budget (it did take longer due to the pipe work but we were informed about that before Rob came on site). There didn't seem to be any problem with the direct vent setup. All in all, we recommend that you should call Able Plumbers if you need a new water heater and ask for Rob.

Nelson is AWESOME!!!! What a nice guy! He was so patient and took the time to explain everything he was doing and give me several options. And I feel like he gave me honest answers and didn't try to get me to spend a fortune. He showed me the connections in my shower and exactly how they're supposed to fit into the pipe and showed me why the existing ones were wrong and didn't fit properly (which was NOT a surprise given the shady contractor who initially installed them).He tested out my shower and even caulked around some of the multiple shower heads to make sure I wouldn't have any leaks in the shower itself, which I was not expecting. He took a look at the leaking toilet in my master bath. I have an unusual European push button toilet in there. He cut through the ceiling in my dining room and found that the issue was the wax seal, rather than the pipes which was a relief. He also fixed the toilet in my powder room in about 5 minutes. As my master bath toilet needs a new internal part that has to be ordered from the manufacturer we couldn't finish up that part of the work today - totally understandable - but I will definitely have Nelson come back out to finish the work once I find the part. And the receptionist, Valerie, was very sweet as well. Able Plumbing is my new go to plumber. You won't be disappointed if you use them.

Able was great! They came out same day. The tech was very quick and diagnosed the problem. Thought I needed a new wax seal on the toilet, but it turned out it was just one nut/bolt that needed to be tightened. Excellent experience!

On prior visits, Rob had examined our aging sump pump and battery back-up system and had offered suggestions on its eventual repair/replacement. After we experienced new problems with the system this month, we called Able (Rob) right away. He scheduled us as soon as he could and, in the end, replaced the entire system. He is extremely conscientious and thorough, and we happy not continue to worry about sump pump failure! We have used Able Plumbing multiple times and have always been very pleased.

The representative showed up on time and quickly evaluated the situation. He determined that the water leak was not related to the plumbing but was an issue with the washing machine. He charged only the house call charge and was in and out in less than 30 minutes.

They did a good job, and were very prompt and helpful.

Bryan did a wonderful job and did exactly what needed to be done on a leaky faucet. He could have told us other parts needed replacing but he was honest and did the work quickly.

We'd been having a 'thumping' noise whenever we used the shower and other faucets. As I was looking at plumbers on Angie's list, I noticed one of the customers under Able's Plumbing had a similar sounding problem and rated them well. We called on a Saturday. The person on the phone told us what she thought it was and the expected price. When I told her I had found them on Angie's List and she gave us the AL discount of $20. She had an appt available on Sunday (!), the next day at 0800. On Sunday, Rob showed up right on time. We demonstrated the problem, he concurred with the over-the-phone 'diagnosis', and got to work replacing the valve. The price was exactly what they said it would be and the problem was fixed. I would definitely use them again!

The plumber, Nelson, arrived on schedule. He was courteous and began the diagnosis immediately. A powder room toilet had backed up. He pulled the toilet and snaked the line. He showed me what he described as root material. He said that the sewer line was broken and that the next step would be to have his company come back with a camera to better identify the problem and the exact location. He told me that the powder room toilet could be used, but not to put any paper in it. All other toilet, sinks, showers, etc. could be used. He said that he would contact his company immediately, and that they would be back in touch with me soon. That was Tuesday. They did not call during the day on Wednesday, so I called them after work. At 515 pm, the call went to voice mail. After no call on Thursday morning, I spoke with a receptionist who said that she had overheard "them" talking about my problem. She promised to have them call. No call Thursday afternoon. Still no call on Friday. I am done with Able Plumbing and cannot recommend them. As good as Nelson was, his company's lack of follow-on, concern, professionalism was surprising. It's too bad.

He explained everything he did and answered all my questions clealy. I was completely satisfied with his work and glad we found his company.

Prompt, called before they got here, here within given window. Friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Totally managed my expectations about what would need to be done (they had to cut the drywall to make the repair) & gave us good advice about how to repair the drywall and how to maintain the spigot outside. Informed us of VA code regarding some hardware - so they didn't only tell us what they were doing but WHY they were doing it. Great to work with - have already recommended to a friend and will call them again the next time we need plumbing help.

The request for service was scheduled over the phone to suit our schedule. Rob was fast, friendly and skilled, arriving right on time. He explained what needed to be done, fixed everything and then tidied up the work area. Couldn't have gone better and the price was very fair as well.

I am an out-of-state landlord trying to resolve a plumbing issue at my home in Springfield VA. I found Able Plumbing on Angie's List and gave them a call. First impressions being an important indicator of overall professionalism and service, Able Plumbing did not disappoint! The nice lady on the other end of the line listened to my concern and questions about my plumbing issue, then placed me on hold to discuss with the owner. When she returned to the line, she said the owner would stop by my home and show the tenants what they needed to do, and there would be no charge for this service! What? I was shocked! In this day and age, and in the DC vicinity, a business owner who wasn't looking to take advantage of a homeowner, who was just being neighborly and wanted to help? Yep, this is the company! I told the kind lady that Able Plumbing was, from this day forward, going to be my "go-to" company for all my future plumbing issues. This company and its employees ROCK!!
