Description of Work: Harry came out and cleaned the chimney of my very old home. Told me it needed a liner as the woodstove pipe only went up about 6'. He was very, very knowledgeable dealing with 1800's homes. His price was reasonable, his work excellent!! My only complaint was it took a little over a month from the date he originally came out, to the time he put it in. I do understand winter demand, bad weather and he works alone. He did come on New Year's Eve and got it done, which included vacuuming and wiping down the hearth. I would recommend him in a heartbeat!

Mr. McMahon was scheduled to come at 9am but called at 10:00am to say that he was having trouble finding our home. He arrived about 10:30. We had asked him to clean the chimney for our fireplace and woodburning stove. He did both of these jobs well. When he was done with the cleaning, he told us that the chimney was cracked and needed extensive repair work. We asked for a back of the envelop estimate, and Mr. McMahon replied that it would cost about $1500.00 to repair. He then advised us not to use our fireplace until the damage had been repaired and said that he would be sending us a letter to that effect. We asked for a written estimate from Mr. McMahon and gave him our contact information. After a month, we had heard nothing from Mr. McMahon and decided to get a second opinion. We called Old Town Chimney and mentioned nothing about Mr. McMahon's conclusions. Jessie of Old Town Chimney told us that the chimney was fine. We then told Jessie about Mr. McMahon's conclusions. Jessie said that the chimney needed no repair, was safe to use, and that we were in good shape for two years after which we likely need another cleaning based on our use of the chimney. Mr. McMahon's cleaning work was well done but his subsequent discussions with us left us with a bad taste about the entire experience.
Description of Work: We called Autumn Winds to clean the chimney leading from our fireplace and woodburning stove.
