Bravo and a standing ovation to Mauricio and Sir Grout! All I can say is, wow, amazing, professional, perfection, courteous, honest and spectacular. Mauricio is every home owner's dream come true when looking for tile service work. I didn't want the cost of new tile and just wanted to freshen the look of what I had. Sir Grout took my 21 year old tile and made it look new. I could not believe what I was seeing. On top of the amazing outcome of how my master bath looks, Mauricio, who is the GM and sales person with whom I met about the contract, stepped up to the plate when his serviceman became ill. He traded in his sales clothes and put on work clothes to complete the job on time so my shower door install didn't have to be rescheduled. I have never seen one person work so hard with that level of perfection. It was as if he was working on his own bathroom. Everyone who has looked at the tile can't believe it's not new. Mauricio is the full package when it comes to sales and service, and Sir Grout products are exactly as advertised. I can't imagine anyone having a bad experience with this company.

Greg Ohrin came to the house and cleaned our granite countertops and sealed them. He was very professional and personable. Greg did an outstanding job and we are very pleased. We plan to hire him again in the next couple of months to seal our bathroom grout. I highly recommend Sir Grout to anyone who need their granite sealed and cleaned.

Sealing my granite countertops was something I've been meaning to do for years (yes I know they are supposed to be sealed every year), but I just never get to it on my to do list. Therefore, when I saw a Deal for having the Granite Countertops sealed, I jumped on it. There was a small snag with the scheduling on their side, but they were very friendly and apologetic about the mix up. Once the service was performed, I was very happy with the quality. I would use them again.

I purchased a $99 Angies List deal for resealing granite counters. I have no complaints--Mauricio arrived right at the appointed time of 9:00, he could not have been more professional, and he was done in under an hour. I'm not sure that the exercise was worthwhile because I can't tell any difference, but it certainly didn't hurt, and for $99 I could afford to try it out.

I bought the voucher to clean and seal kitchen countertops. I've never had this done before, so didn't know what to expect, and have nothing to compare Sir Grout against. They were polite, scheduled the service quickly and showed up on time. Greg was courteous and professional, and when I asked him to look at my bathroom floor, did not give me a hard sell to try and buy extra services. The only reason I gave them a B is because I expected my countertops to look really shiny when he left. Frankly, I couldn't see much of a difference. He said they were in pretty good shape (surprising given they haven't been sealed in at least 10 years!), and they certainly don't look bad, but don't look spectacular, either. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic (as I noted above, I have nothing to compare against). Next time I'll probably just try doing it myself.

Response from Sir Grout Washington DC Metro
Thank you for your feedback. The process of cleaning and sealing granite countertops is very different from honing and/or polishing them. In the cleaning and sealing process, we apply a pH neutral soapless cleaner to the stone surface and let it dwell. We then razor scrape the surface removing contaminants and grime followed by wiping down and drying the surfaces. We then apply a commercial grade, high quality sealant to protect the stone from penetration by foreign substances. This process cleans and protects the surface but does not address the shine of the surface. In a hone and polish or clean and crystallize (polish) process, the end result is to clean and enhance the shine of the surface. Both of these processes are more involved time and material wise with honing and polishing taking a great deal of time and material in particular. The cost, naturally, of these two processes is considerably higher than the more common clean and seal process.

The owner of the company actually did the service call. He was 15 minutes early and started immediately. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all my questions and concerns very honestly. He made some great suggestions on the future care and maintenance including dos and don'ts. He left the counters looking like new and even put a second coat on where he was not satisfied with the look. Great job, and I highly recommend Sir Grout of Washington to all neighbors and friends!

The work was simply rescheduled for a month from now, their first available opening.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal off of Angie's List to have my granite countertops cleaned and sealed back on 9/05/14. Today was the first day of availability. Since I had physical therapy until about an hour before the appointment, I got up early to clean everything off the countertops. When I got home, and no one came at the scheduled time, I checked my email to find two emails, from two different people at Sir Grout. One was regarding cancelling an estimate, because someone was out sick, which made no sense whatsoever. They both indicated they had the wrong phone number for me, and needed to reschedule the appointment. The first email wasn't sent until a little over two hours before the noon appointment. Someone had obviously entered my phone number incorrectly, since one of the digits in the area code was one number off. Now I'm told the next available appointment is a month from now, and I'm left to put everything back on my countertops, only to go through this again. There was no effort to try and reschedule sooner, since they're the ones that had cancelled the appointment. Meanwhile I've already paid for this.

Showed up on time, did a nice job with the kitchen counter tops (cleaning and resealing) was courteous and didn't leave a mess.
Description of Work: Granite counter cleaning and sealing
The appointment was easy and convenient to setup. The technician arrived when promised and did a great job cleaning and applying sealer to our four year old granite. He gave me valuable information about granite and how to properly care for it. I'll be calling him back to do the same in a year or so. Great job!

I was disappointed when my initial appointment had to be rescheduled but they were able to come out a couple of days later. Mauricio was on time and was very friendly and got straight to work. We worked quickly and went the extra step to seal the grout on our new tile backsplash after I asked for an estimate. We will absolutely be using Sir Grout again for our projects.

Finally got the new general manager and owner to send someone out to check out the floor grout failing. I gave them every opportunity to either fix their work or give me my money back. They of course did not want to give me any money back so they out Their expert who-- of course--concluded that it was poor workmanship on the tile installation and NOT their responsibility. After talking directly to the owner in Atlanta, he wanted to blame everyone except his own people for the floor failing only 6 months after they did their work. It lasted 2 years before they touched it. After finding out that the company and owner don't understand that they need to be a licensed contractor in Virginia for ALL work done over $1.000. He reluctantly decided to give me back 800.00$ of my 1400.00 that I paid them. In conclusion, they have poor customer service, are Not a licensed contractor and don't stand behind any of their warranty. I am out 600$ and my 350 sq ft of tile floor is a disaster thanks to Sir Grout DONT USE THEM
Description of Work: They were to clean regroup and seal the kitchen, dining room, entry hall and small half bathroom. It took them almost 30 days to get to us-- big back log |They seemed to do and quick job and employees kept leaving throughout the day until only 1 remained. The original grout job lasted 2 years before areas got bad. After sir grout-- it only lasted less than 6 months before I started calling them for warranty rework. I have called and called and finally got someone to come out to look at the job. He told me that it was his last day, and no one was able to come fix it since they are short handed. He told me the new general manager would call me-- a month later -- still no call and my 1 year warranty is over in 2 months

Response from Sir Grout Washington DC Metro
We have a different view of the circumstances involving the customer’s floor. - Original sales appointment was 10/31/2013. At the time, the customer’s tile and grout was dirty and had a small amount of grout between tiles requiring repair. - Our General Manager who completed the estimate was a former tile store owner as well as General Manager for a competitor of ours. - The price of the project was $1,299, and of that amount, $35 was for grout repair/replacement, representing 2.7% of the value of the project with the remainder being for our color seal process. - The work was scheduled for 11/27/2013. The customer is correct that we were quite busy at the time with customers getting ready for the holidays. - The customer is also correct that in the transition from our former General Manager to new General Manager this summer it took too long to respond to the customer’s concern over his failing floor. When I (an owner) became aware of the customer’s concern, I called him right away and assured him we would have a look at the situation and figure out a course of action. - After our new General Manager visited the customer’s home and sent pictures, I was immediately concerned that the customer’s subfloor might well be compromised, i.e., that there wasn’t a proper sub-floor installed. This concern was further amplified when the customer informed me that the home had been purchased from a “flipper”. I told the customer I would look into grout that is more elastic in the hope that we might be able to re-grout the trouble areas. - For additional insight after speaking with the customer, I asked him via email how old the floor was and never received a reply. - We are not required to hold a contractor’s license for our work--period. Given the severity of the situation with the customer’s floor, I thought it would be prudent to bring in a licensed contractor to evaluate the customer’s floor. So I hired a licensed contractor, at my cost, to evaluate the customer’s floor as a courtesy to the customer and for peace of mind for me. The contractor routinely works with tile installations. - The contractor inspected the customer’s floor in the presence of the customer. He received permission from the customer to lift one of the loose tiles from the floor for inspection. The contractor identified that there was an appropriate sub-floor in place. However, the contractor noted that both the mortar and application of it was incorrect. Those two factors, he determined, were the cause for the failure of the floor. He determined that the only reliable course of action would be installing a new tile floor. He further noted that our process of scrubbing the floor and applying a color sealant to the grout in no way contributed to the failure of the mortar in the customer’s floor. The failure of the floor was a matter of time as to when it would really become problematic. The contractor explained all of this to the customer and provided the customer an opportunity to ask questions. The customer did not argue with or dispute the findings of the contractor at the time of the inspection. - Upon receiving the written report from the contractor and discussing it with him, I came to the conclusion that while my company did not cause the customer’s floor to fail, nor did we know that it would fail like it has, I wanted to help the customer in a meaningful way as a courtesy to him. Consequently, I offered to the customer that once he had his floor properly re-installed, I would be willing to have my company return to his home and provide our color sealant process again and do so with no charge to him. - The customer rebuffed my offer out of hand declaring it insufficient. When he pressed about our warranty, I discussed our written warranty with him. It covers our color seal process, and in the event of failure we would re-apply our color sealant. In this customer’s case, the mortar bond between his tile and sub-floor failed, which we had nothing to do with. Our color seal did not fail. Still, I offered to have our company provide the service again at no cost to the customer. - I feel very badly that the customer purchased a home that had a tile floor incorrectly installed. However, my company did not cause that problem, nor were we able to know what would happen a few months later when the floor continued to fail more dramatically. After a very difficult discussion with the customer, we came to an agreement that I would provide a partial refund in lieu of providing our color seal process again. That agreement was to conclude the matter, and I’m very disappointed that the customer has chosen to further disparage my company with his review. - We are very proud of the reputation we’ve built, and the reviews on Angie’s List prove out that we provide great service to our customers on a daily basis.
The technician was incredibly friendly and professional. He kept us aware of everything he was doing, and he was even able to finish the whole job and not have to come back the following day. Our house is new, but the marble was not properly sealed when we moved in. There were a few scratches on our marble counters as well as some water/soap stains on the marble sink counter in the master bath. They were able to get out most of the stains (or at least lighten them). I was overall happy with their service. The technician said that the seal would last for about 6 years ... if this is the case, it is totally worth the investment in our stone.
Description of Work: Sir Grout cleaned and sealed the marble countertops in 3 bathrooms. Then they re-sealed, cleaned, and caulked our marble master bedroom shower, which included the ceiling, walls and floor.
