They responded promptly, but I was surprise at what they said... I personally won't pay for an estimate and I certainly don't appreciate being told how to write a real estate contract. Here is the e-mail response, you can judge for yourself: "We charge $150 for site visit rough order estimates on contingent purchases. Clients make an offer that is contingent on the feasibility of making the home accessible. The earliest we could get over there is Monday. Initially I can give you Tony's cell phone, currently on a job site, to talk with him about very general pricing based on square footage. That's free. If they will accept a contingency on the contract that would allow you to get a better price idea for your budget. Tony's # is 703-470-5747. He will be available at about 11:15 and could give you an idea without a site visit. I will let him know if you want to contact him. I can schedule you for Monday too if you would like him to meet you on site."

He came out first because I wanted aging in place primarily for the bathroom . He gave great ideas and practical suggestion on what could and could not be done, and he did not push anything on us that was unnecessary. And the one thing I like once the bathroom had been done I had save my 1950 arest tub and he suggested a granite slab remnant tile it was an awesome choice and up the level of the bathroom. They have a good eye for making suggestions on things. I really really like that and everybody was friendly. They checked regularly once the bathroom began taking shape so either he or his wife cam by to check on the progress.

Could not have been more pleased with the results. Craftsmanship was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. Tony arrived exactly when he had promised, completed the job as described, and left no dust or debris behind. He completed the installation in a very reasonable time, but took the time to create a high quality product.

It went great and I am extremely happy with the results. My physical therapist recommended that I have safety devices installed in my home to assure my safety as I continued to recover and rehabilitate from broken bones. The work was done quickly and professionally.

In every respect, they were outstanding. They were prompt. They pointed out at the beginning that the types of renovations they were going to recommend would use a lot of equipment that was made specifically for disabled people and that it runs a lot more expensive than buying stuff at Home Depot or Lowes. I thought their quotes were quite fair for a very large amount of work that they were proposing to do. They responded exactly to what I needed. Their punctuality was good because they were here on the minute. Their appointments were on time everytime. They were professional. I would definitely use them. Actually, I have never used any of the Schaffer services. However I did use recommendations for other people like installing a chair lift in the stairwell and their recommendations were spanned on for good work and for a good price. The Schaffer folks said that the disabled person is not going to get any better, which is correct and so they expect to do business with us from time to time for the next ten years or so. They laid out a good foundation and spent a lot of work on design, a lot of work on evaluating the house for the least expensive options.

From beginning to end, they were super-responsive. They returned our initial call quickly, with a fast turn-around time to their initial visit to look over the situation. They went over various alternatives, including indoor vs. outdoor lifts, explaining the pros and cons of each, promptly gave us a written proposal, and completed the job on-time. In every contact, they were very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous, and they displayed an especially kind, patient and caring attitude toward our elderly parent. They were also proactive in suggesting additional measures that could make the house more livable and less risky for an elderly person having difficulties in getting around. We did not give a rating on the price charged, because we did not solicit competing bids from other firms. We had such good vibes from our initial contacts with Mr. Schaffer that we knew right off that this was the firm we wanted to use.

Tony was very knowledgeable about home safety. I think he is associated with some kind of fall prevention group. The ramp was installed as agreed and they were a pleasure to work with.

Tony came exactly at 5 p.m. about a day after I called, as he was in the area that day. He accepted my instructions about placement of the two grab bars, which differed somewhat from his recommendation, and I am extremely happy with the placement. His work was impeccable, with no debris left behind, and the bars are very secure. He also advised me on a possible leak in the corner of the ceiling above the tub.

Excellent work. Very professional. Arrived on time and completed before leaving. No complaints.

Tony Schaffer was outstanding. He spent time talking to my 90 year old Mother about the safety issues in her home and made recommendations on how to improve her day to day living. All the work Tony performed was excellent but I was most impressed with Tony as a compassionate, caring human being.

He was good and efficient. He was very nice. The price was right.

Hope the above commentary will be sufficient tell the story of an outstanding organization.

From the first call, we knew that we had help. Very responsive to our needs, showed up on time, and the quality of the work was first rate. More importantly, their experience in helping the disabled means that you have a real resource in working through the various issues you encounter. Would wholeheartedly recommend them. Worth the price.

They have always a great job, just fabulous! They do what they say they will do when they say they will do it, clean, and you would never know someone was there. They are also an aging-in-place specialist. They completed a kitchen remodel for my mother and while it was not aging-in-place, they were great with taking care of her during the entire process. I just can't say enough good things about them, great customer service! Honor and integrity.
