Started well and went bad quickly. Found the cabinets were very low quality. The J&J installer on site said he was adding extra screws and hoped they would hold together. We later found out that J& marked the cabinets up onver 100% which is fraud. MUch lower quality cabinets then we were lead to believe were were paying for. They were more than 1 month late to complete the job. We would go days without anyone showing up to work and did not get notice if and when they would come to work. They left the job at the end of Jan 2013 with a long punch list to address, including major issues with the new tile floor they had installed and they assured us they would address the issues quickly. They did not come back until May , after multiple calls and emails. They tried 3 times from May to July to fix the floor. There were loose tiles and grout popping out. Many tiles were unevenly installed and we would trip on them. The last time they tried to fix the floor, the installer they hired found a defect in the overall installation as the durrock was not glued to the plywood sub floor, which was why the tiles were coming loose. When I brought this issue to the attention of J&J, they abanded the job and I never heard from them again. I am currently pursuing legal action against J&J.
Description of Work: Major Kitchen Remodel. New kitchen cabinets, countertop, ceramic tile floor.

This was a disaster. I've lost my life savings. 6 months after work was to be completed, there was still just a framed and dry walled basement completed. There were multiple excuses...such as not having supplies delivered due to lack of inventory, missed appointments, and sub contractors I introduced them to that were not paid in the progress (see aforesaid review) I did hear they took a nice vacation during this tenure...so I'm glad I was able to pay for it. He cashed every check and convinced me he needed more to continue. This being my first contracting job I've ever financed in my life, I was naive as to what I was getting myself into and the red flags that presented themselves. Jay (father...who collected checks and denies any involvement with the business) and his son are very convincing and nice...but they have no intention of completing any work. I'm currently in the process of suing them and trying to get some of the money back.
Description of Work: Was supposed to finish a basement, redo a closet in the master bedroom, and change fireplace brick to stone

I contacted this company and received assigned contract to build a deck. I gave him $6500.00 up front by check. He has not built the deck, has not returned our calls, or emails. He cashed the check in the personal account and not business account. He did not get a permit for building the deck or demo the deck. He represented to us that he did pertain the permit. The county is pursuing these matters. There are several things that this man has not followed through on.

We subcontracted to do work for one of J&J Contracting and in good faith completed an entry walkway on an "urgent" basis (4 days from contract to completion). The homeowner was/is very pleased with the work. J&J has failed to pay us even though the customer paid them. Now, we are forced to go back to the homeowner to collect the monies owed even though they paid the general contractor. It is very sad for the homeowner and we are unhappy about the situation. However, even after being let down multiple times and having faced multiple extended delays plus enduring poor workmanship, the customer continued to accept new work without firing the contractor. Sad as it is, this does fall back on the homeowner because his house is the collateral for the work. There are people who hire contractors and fail to pay for services performed. Thus, the laws allow unpaid contractors and subcontractors to place liens against homes of people who, whether on purpose or not, fail to pay. In this particular situation, there is little doubt that the customer ever intended that the subcontractor not be paid (i.e. they did not get the work that they contracted for). Sadly, the homeowner is left holding the bag.
Description of Work: J&J Contracting collected money from the homeowner and failed to pay the subcontractor. The subcontractor is threatening to file liens against the property for failure to pay. DO NOT USE J&J CONTRACTING, JASON MUSSEL OR JAY MUSSEL or risk having a lien slapped on your home.

J&J Contracting (Jason and Jay Mussel) was not competent to do the plumbing work. Due to their negligence, my entire house was flooded - from the top floor, all the way to the basement. Simply put: they were not qualified to perform the plumbing work, and should not have accepted the job if they did not have the knowledge or experience needed to perform the work. Once they flooded my house, I did not want them to continue the project. They had the gall to send me a bill for 'work' performed in addition the hefty deposit I had paid. The thought they were entitled to almost their full fee, although they had not completed even a single item listed in the contract. Almost two months later, I am still in the process of having my home restored to its original condition?
Description of Work: I hired J&J Contracting to remodel two master bathrooms: replace old vanity, remove brass accents. A few other minor tasks were included in the contract.
