They were fabulous, reasonably priced, arrived on time and careful with my items.

We learned about Help-U-Move when they delivered a piece of furniture we'd purchased from a local furniture store in Leesburg. The delivery guys noticed the 'For Sale' sign in front of our home and explained that their company does residential moves. We called the manager who came out and provided an estimate of about $1,700 to move us (our 3 bedroom townhouse) from Leesburg to Springfield, VA. We'd received a previous estimate, from a national moving company, for about $3,000, so the $1,700 sounded real good. Help-U-Move made all of the same claims as the bigger company (insurance, we wrap everything, etc.). Plus, we figured that since the Leesburg furniture store (from whom we've purchased and have had delivered numerous pieces of furniture) trusted Help-U-Move, they must be a sure thing. The plan was for HUM to pick up all of our furniture and boxes on 12/1, store it overnight in Leesburg (at a lighted, secure lot with cameras) overnight, and deliver it to our new home in Springfield at 2pm the next day. Help-U-Move came on Dec 1st to pick up our furniture and boxes. They showed up about an hour late that morning. As the move progressed, HUM realized they had not brought a truck large enough to accomodate all of our stuff. They packed up the first truck and left, saying they'd be back in about an hour with truck no. 2. Three hours later (after we called them several times, inquiring of their whereabouts), they showed up with the second truck and packed the remainder of our belongings. They finished at about 9pm that night. The next day, we were expecting HUM to arrive at our new home at around 2pm, as agreed. Truck no. 1 showed up at around 5pm. As they unloaded, we noticed their was significant damage to our dining room table (hand-made by a local furniture maker) as well as to other pieces of furniture. We called the move coordinator who explained that all we had to do was file a claim and they'd send someone to repair the damage. Meanwhile, it was getting dark and truck no. 2 still had not arrived. We again called the move coordinator who told us that truck no. 2 was "just now leaving Leesburg" and was on its way. About 1.5 hours later, the driver of truck 2 called to say he was just leaving Front Royal. We were furious and called the move coordinator, again, to ask why he'd given us false information earlier. He had no explanation. Truck 2 finally showed at around 8pm. After everything was finally unloaded, we sat down with the main move guy and filed a claim for the damaged furniture. Help-U-Move never got back to us regarding the damage claim. We have not pursued the claim because our experience with HUM was such a horror, we'd rather not deal with them again. Ever. In hindsight, we would gladly have paid twice the price for good service and peace of mind.

It was great! Aaron & Shane were friendly, nice, professional & helpful. They did a great job and when they finished before the 2-hour minimum, they made sure to ask if I had anything else I wanted help with since there was a minimum time/payment. I know I will have need to use them again & I will absolutely call them first--and request the same team if they are free.
