FURNITURE MEDIC by Karen

After several moves with the military to our forever home, we wanted to have our furniture cosmetically touched up, as it had incurred some nicks and scratches, with a few faded areas from heavy use. The kitchen in our new house also had been refinished several years ago, but the previous owners had been rough with the cabinets, leaving some scrapes and scratches. Eric did a fantastic job touching up all our furniture, which looks so much better now that all the scratches are filled and the faded areas blended. The cabinets in our gourmet kitchen look brand new. The cost was very reasonable, all the work was conveniently done in our home, and Eric was extremely knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Getting an estimate via email with photos and scheduling was easy as well--it's just a great all-around local company worth supporting. Other companies wanted us to bring the furniture to them and had very high quotes just for a few pieces. I'm so happy I found them and my home feels so much more polished now.

The job was done quickly and professionally in my home. I was very pleased with the results.

Never received a call back from business.

Company didn't contact me and I didn't contact them as I figured they didn't want the job, and I didn't want it done by someone who didn't want to do it.

Appointment was at 2:30. While they did warn me that the guy might be “a little late,” they said at worst, it could be closer to 3pm. It’s 4pm now. They never showed up. They never called. They don’t answer the phone when I call. This wasn’t a scenario where they gave me a window. It was a specific appointment time that THEY set.

Really prompt, knows his furniture. Wilson was on time, returned with half of the chairs, took the rest ( that allowed us to have dining room chairs) the work was great. I had no idea of what it was going to cost, and only reviewed a couple of sites on what to expect in cost, He was in the ball park for sure on cost. very fast service after calling to set up appointment to drive and see what we had to work on, ON TIME - great..

Eric was really good. Got the job done in 2 hours. Very efficient and cleaned up after himself.

Took awhile but it was not an easy job.

This was great. Service was completed at my house. Just took a couple hours.

The repair was completed within an hour and done professionally. Very little outward sign of damage. A good job indeed.

Erick showed up, I requested him b/c he fixed this bed when I first brought it into the house. It is an organic bed that was unfortunately cut in half in order to fold it like a sandwich to get it down the stairs during a move. Typically there was a patio with balcony to lower the bed down and up, but unfortunately construction was done to close the patio not thinking about the bed. SO....Erick came and fixed the bed 1.5 years ago and it has been solid ever since. But the leg problem was there I just didn't focus on it b/c i was so worried about fixing the big stuff. Erick fixed it VERY quickly and perfectly, ran out to Home Depot, worked around my specifications on no chemicals which would negate the "organic" part of the bed. Total pain, but you had to think it through. This time Erick came back to work on the same bed, fixed the legs, ran into having to research the glue being used on the legs, and Erick went the distance to attach sliders on each wooden leg where the size matched up and the bed went from being 100+ lbs to light as a feather. Genius move to glue the sliders onto the wooden legs. I mean it is awesome x 10 now. I just love these guys. Family run business, Erick is awesome, super professional, knows exactly what he is doing, never see guys like this around here. I do back home (PA), but not in Virginia. And his dad is A-dorable, he's the one who handles scheduling. I was very appreciative that he was sensitive to what I wanted to pay for the bed versus getting rid of it.

They were really nice to work with. They were just very prompt, they returned the call right away, they kept the appointment and then they came when they said they were going to come.

Eric was fast, efficient and personable. He had everything needed with him onsite and when I came back, the furniture was in place and looked perfect. He warned me not to put anything on it for three days to cure properly. I was very impressed.

They did an AMAZING job! I am very particular and could not be more pleased. Price was reasonable as well. He did not have wheeled casters (we discussed this prior to the appointment) but he told me how I could order them. I wish I had a before picture for you to see the amazing difference. The top center panel was all bleached out and uneven -- he refinished it to match the other sections of the table, glued squeaky joints, etc. Fantastic!

The day before the appointment, they emailed to say they couldn't come. I contacted them repeatedly to reschedule but they never responded.

It was very very good. They did a beautiful job. They cleaned up after themselves and were polite and warm.

Contacted Furniture Medic via email including pictures of the damage to the painted finish cabinet top. An appointment was made in short order. Eric was a little delayed arriving on time that day, but contacted me TWICE at each half hour to report his status - so I was not left hanging or waiting without knowledge of his whereabouts. When Eric arrived he quickly ascertained the status of the damage and his course of repair action and quickly got to work. He did a really great job of making the repair which included painting and distressing the damaged area to match the distressed finish of the piece. Prior to the work being done, I had serious reservations about how anyone would go about making an acceptable repair due to the type of finish on the cabinet and the complexity of working with a painted and distressed finish. Well, I will tell you I was VERY pleased with the result and will not hesitate to call Furniture Medic again should I ever need any repair work done to my furniture or cabinetry. Furniture Medic by Karen was yet another great find on Angie's List!

I have emailed many times and left many voice messages over the past months. No response whatsoever. Call the franchise company, Servicemaster; they promised to investigate if this franchisee was still in business but no response from them either. Are they out of business? I saw however some reviews on Angie's List in August and can't understand how they can be doing other work but fail to respond to any of my communications.

Mitchell arrived promptly when he said he would. He took off the legs of the table as they did not have to be refinished. He took the table out on my carport and went to work removing the finish. He applied several coats of stain and a sealer. I am extremely pleased with the table as it had several bare spots and a giant stain from a bottle of grill cleaner that had spilled on my table. The entire job took about 4 hrs. The table looks good as new. I paid a lot for the table many years ago and it fits perfectly in my kitchen. I was thrilled it could be restained and looks as nice as the day I bought it.

Excellent job. Service was done at my house, so I didn't have to bring the furniture to them, or be without it for any period of time. Erick was very professional and did an excellent job. Would definitely use their services in the future and recommend them.

Great service. Spoke to them by phone first to describe needed repair. Repair was scheduled two weeks out. Mitchell came to our house at the appointed day/time and made the needed repairs quickly and it looks great. He also gave us a lot of helpful information. Would definitely use Furniture Medic again for any needed repair.

Eric arrived right on time. He repaired an antique bed frame and stabilized an antique secretary. One of the legs of the frame had broken off the headboard. He was able to glue it back together in such a way that that the repair is not obvious and the frame is safe to use. He also put some brackets on the back of my 200 (or so) year-old secretary so that it would be stable. The brackets can be easily removed, if the secretary needs to be moved from its location in the upstairs hall. Stabilizing this secretary was important to me as I wanted to ensure that my grandchildren, who like to rampage all over the house, couldn't dislodge the top of the piece from the bottom, shatter the old glass and hurt themselves in the process. He is professional, patient and works quickly. I was so pleased that the work could be done on-site and the quality was high, that I contacted the company today to request an appointment for his return to repair some other antique items in the house. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Getting quality work done on-site beats having to send delicate pieces out by a country mile. n
