Atlantic Deck came to our house to provide an estimate of the job I wanted; the construction of a matching wooden gate for our deck. They gave an estimate for the job, set a date to return, and a crew of two people came to build the gate. They were on time and did their work well. The style of the new gate matches our deck, which is what we wanted. Additionally, during their initial visit to provide the estimate, I found the representative from Atlantic Deck to be knowledgeable. While they were on-site, they also provided an assessment of our deck in its entirety. Although we weren't in the market to replace our deck, it was nice to have a conversation about what options are available should we decide to do so in the future. They are in the business of selling decks, so I wasn't surprised by the discussion. In fact, I actually found their assessment helpful in gauging the overall health of our deck and some potential areas to keep an eye on for the future. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Atlantic Deck tore out and hauled away our existing deck and put in a new, slightly larger deck. Our old deck had been built by the previous owner and none of it was to code. The new deck is sturdy and nice, and I was impressed at the dedication to details. Once the deck was up and nearly done, they came around and inspected it, and they ended up removing and replacing several pieces of wood because they didn't like the quality or color of the pieces. It meant the job took a little longer overall, but I was glad they took the time to do that, it made a difference. They also re-did the transition to the stairway because it had turned out a little bit weird, and I didn't even have to ask them to do it. They also re-poured a small concrete slab at the foot of the stairs because it had gotten messed up in the process of putting in the new stairway. I appreciated the gesture, but the new concrete square is now half an inch above the rest of our concrete patio. We plan to tear out the patio next year anyway, so it isn't a big deal. Overall we were pleased and would use them again.

Zeth (the sales guy) was prompt, knowledgable, and responsive. While we reviewed a detailed estimate there were certain details we did not know to question until they were installed (such as the screen porch door). The PM assigned to us was not as responsive. However, the workers were very detailed and did fantastic work. Ultimately, the things we were not happy with were changed to be satisfactory (not fantastic, but good). For example, we were not happy initially with the wiring for the fan in the porch area. It was too bulky, unnecessarily. It was fixed after we complained.

I appreciated his patience and his information. He actually gave me some information I needed to keep me from making a mistake. I'm not sure anyone else would have done that. I enjoyed working with him. His crew was very patient and very nice. They are efficient and stuck with it until completion. They got all of the permits and inspections that were needed.

Working with Atlantic Deck and Chris Mallonee was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor. Chris was very professional and prompt from the initial estimate, which beat out two other estimates easily, to the very end of the project. He was incredibly responsive and patient with all of my questions. There was a hiccup with one of the footings not passing the initial county inspection but Chris stayed on top of it and it was resolved quickly. His workers came on time starting promptly at 8am and sometimes worked past 5pm to get the job done. The project started on a Thursday and was completed the following Tuesday. I couldn't be happier with the results of the deck and my only regret is that I won't be able to enjoy it more since our townhouse is already under contract! I'll definitely plan to use Atlantic Deck and Chris again if we're looking for a deck in our future home!

Zeth was extremely helpful from the start. Great ideas for the deck, prompt responses to my many questions. He worked very hard with us to come up with a deck that would incorporate all of the elements we wanted. He is very personable and really willing to work with his clients on helping to design the right deck. We felt that both Atlantic Deck and one other contractor were both top notch and in the end, we went with the other contractor. The other contractor was able to get the price down more than Zeth could without compromising the aspects of the deck we wanted to have.

Atlantic Deck was one of four companies we selected from Angie's List to provide designs/estimates for our deck project. Zeth came to the house and took the time to explain decking, railing, lighting, and design options. The estimate we received was very detailed and broke out the separate cost points for various options. We were not entirely sold on the initial design, but after we chose one that we liked, we went back to Zeth for an updated estimate. Work was scheduled quickly after we signed the contract. Prior to construction, the only issue we had was with the incorrect railing material being ordered/delivered but it was taken care of immediately after one quick phone call and construction was not delayed. Cody was our project manager and was really great to work with. He kept us well informed and was very responsive to questions or concerns we had during construction. Cody also provided great input throughout the project and took action on every small issue we raised. We were so impressed with their workmanship and attention to detail that we signed a contract for a stamped concrete patio midway during the deck construction. Again, Cody was the project manager for the patio project and maintained the same level of communication as with the deck. One of the most impressive things we found with Atlantic Deck was the level of detail performed during the final walk through. In addition to the minor issues we found, Cody identified several that we had overlooked that your regular homeowner would not notice. All were fixed immediately with Cody doing the work himself. He even took pictures of a board that has the potential to become an issue in the future to ensure it was noted and could be monitored. Overall, our experience with Atlantic Deck was excellent. They were not the least expensive, but when small details such as lighting and trim work are added in and the level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and communication are factored in, working with them is worth every penny. Several of our neighbors have told us how much they love our deck and patio and our next door neighbors are working on a deck and patio project with Atlantic Deck right now. We definitely look for them to provide us with the same level of service when we are ready to add a bathroom and room to our basement. UPDATE: Still very happy with the deck but the stamped concrete patio is another issue. Based on the craftsmanship of their deck work, we had Atlantic Deck provide an estimate for a stamped concrete patio. Although the cost was somewhat higher than other estimates we decided to go with them as an add-on project - another $10K added to the total. Big mistake!! After just under three years the concrete is spalled in multiple spots and the patio is ruined. Based on four inspections/estimates from actual concrete professionals, the concrete was overworked when it was poured leaving a surface layer that is prone to spalling. All contractors that inspected the patio stated that the slab integrity was compromised and recommended that the best fix was to tear it all out and re-pour the slab. Other options included grinding the patio down and either resurfacing with a waterproof, polymer modified cement or adding a thin stone or concrete paver overlay. I contacted Zeth regarding the issue with the patio. On the phone I was told that, per Atlantic Deck?s warranty, the patio work was not under warranty, even though the contract specifically states that there is a 5 year warranty for structural issues. I set up an inspection with Zeth anyway and he came out with Atlantic Decks new concrete person (apparently they replaced the crew that did my concrete work) to take a look. I was given a number of reasons as to why the concrete may have failed (weather, salt/ice melt ?never used on the patio), none of which addressed the concrete being overworked when it was poured. I was also told that the 5 year structural warranty in the contract, does not apply to concrete work, though that is not stated. Zeth was kind enough to provide an estimate for three repair options ranging from $1250.00 (repairing the holes with hardener) to $4950.00 (overlay with pavers) neither of which included grinding the slab down and NO warranty!! Between my next door neighbor and I Atlantic deck received several additional jobs within our community based on our recommendation. I would recommend them again for a deck but could not in good conscience recommend them for concrete work. Take the time to find a good concrete contractor that does not sub out their concrete work and provides a warranty. You?ll save time and money in the end.

Though I did not choose Atlantic Deck for my project, anyone considering such an endeavor without including them in their decision process is making a mistake. There estimate was fair, understandable, and competitive with their peers. They may be exactly what you are looking for... just give them a chance to show you what they can do.
Description of Work: Zeth came out and did an initial estimate of the project I envisioned; a deck extension with an enclosed patio underneath. He was prompt, engaging and satisfied all of my questions fully. His estimate was fair and comparable to others I received from competing vendors. As I closed in on deciding between multiple vendors, Zeth graciously returned for a follow-up discussion and revised estimate. Again, he was punctual, conversational and left me without unanswered questions.

We had both an upper and lower deck built of pressure treated wood. We worked with Zeth. Everything went exactly as he promised. The decks were actually built while we were on vacation without any problems. There were only the finishing touches left when we arrived home. There was no debris and it was obvious permits were obtained properly and Miss Utility had been called. All of the workmen we encountered showed up on time and were very courteous. And best of all, our decks are beautiful. We feel the price was fair and we highly recommend Atlantic Deck.

We appreciate every opportunity to provide free estimates to potential customers. It is always our goal to provide professional, prompt and thorough estimates. In this particular case, Kris met with this member and worked with her for 1.5 hours at her home to understand her needs and wants for her project. Kris had a couple follow up questions and required additional information to ensure he was able to provide the best possible quote. In this case the questions were a little more complicated than we felt could be properly addressed via email. Kris called the member and left voice messages on two different occasions without any response. Unfortunately in the business of providing free estimates, it is common that prospective customers simply don’t respond for a variety of reasons. It serves us no purpose to spend the time to do a free estimate and not follow through with a complete quote. We provide our contact information and a quote for every estimate we go on. We understand that it is not your responsibility to follow up with us, but please don’t hesitate to send a quick note regarding the status of your quote. We have since contacted the member to express our regret for the situation and to see if she would still be interested in receiving the quote.

These guys did a great job. The initial estimate was timely and clear. I had a fairly tight window for completing the work, and they met it. Quality was top notch; the new deck was a vast improvement over the original. The builder(s) were polite and professional. I thought the value for the price was great. I would definitely use this company again.

I contacted Atlantic Deck and Zeth responded right away and come out and evaluated my project. He was punctual and very professional during our meeting. He listened to my requirements and provided a detailed quote. I really liked his proposal and the overall price he quoted me was competitive. In the end, it was a toss-up between Atlantic Deck and another company and I decided to go with the other company. However, I'll definitely consider Atlantic Deck for future projects and recommend them to friends looking for deck work.
Description of Work: I contacted several contractors to provide quotes for rebuilding and old and deteriorating deck. The project included tearing down the old deck, replacing footers (if needed), sealing the ground under the deck and adding gravel, and building a new surface using composite materials and modern railing. The deck is two tiered, with a single step-down to an area with a wrap-around bench. Overall size is ~290sq/ft.

We had a bad experience with this company. We lost $2500. We paid the initial deposit and I had to be relocated. So I informed him before we spent 1 penny on buying anything to construct the deck. He refused to refund any money and kept all the money with him. I choose him because of Angies list and I should have picked a different person that my friend referred. He kept $2500 of our hard earned money and was not professional.

Response from Atlantic Deck & Home Renovation Inc
We regret that we were not able to refund this members deposit. I had met with this member several times at their home to determine the final design and then again to sign the contract which we went over before asking them to sign. We do have to have a Non-refundable 10% deposit that is clearly stated on the front of our building contract. The deposit is necessary because of the time and expense we incur before the start of construction, in producing the construction plans, plans for the HOA review, pulling building permits, notifying the utility companies, developing a material order list, etc. However, the most important part of our deposit is to insure that we hold a spot in our building schedule. We purposely do not over book our schedule and because the project was put on hold I had the expense of 3 crew members with no project to work on. In this particular case we had notified the member that we had the approved permit and that we would be starting on time the following Monday. It was at that time they said they were "thinking about moving" and asked me to put the project on hold, I agreed. The member asked about the deposit and I explained why we could not refund the deposit, but offered to give a credit towards the deposit on a smaller design if that would better suit their budget. They were interested in this idea, so I produce a new design for their review. This was back in 2010 and I never heard back from them whether they moved or not.

kingThe owner of the company Christopher Mallonee came and quote the job. He was very timely in his proposal. He was very helpful in providing drawings to meet the needs of my Home Owners Association Architectural requirements. The scheduling of the job was timely within 3 weeks. The workers were neat, clean and respectful of my property. They cleaned up each day as the job took about 3 days. They made a bench to my specifications. It was difficult to inspect the job when completed at it was dark when I got home from work. They waited until the weekend. I took pictures of 4 areas of concern. They came out promptly and corrected the 4 areas plus some others they thought could be improved. I am very happy with the work and the workers. I would definitely use them again. Also they were the cheapest price with the best quality materials (Trex) which was an additional benefit. Definitely recommend Atlantic Deck Company.
Description of Work: I had a 9x14 foot open deck attached to the house installed with no stairs. It was pine decking with TREX Transcend surface and rail cap. It was all screwed in and not nailed in a 45 degree pattern. They removed and disposed of the metal rail that had closed off the sliding door. They removed the stains from 10 years of the metal railing being on the siding. They made a 6' by 3 boards wide by 18" high detached bench. All surfaces were TREX.
We are so pleased with our porch and with everyone from Atlantic. What began as an idea for a simple sliding door replacement with some new steps to the backyard grew into the beautiful porch we have today. Once we decided to have a porch built instead of steps, we consulted Angie's List for the names of several contractors. We invited them to bid on our project and decided Atlantic Deck Co. was the best one for our project. One thing that was also important to us was that the contractor had their own crews instead of using subcontractors although they do subcontract the electrical work. Atlantic took care of all the paperwork for our HOA and managed the permits and inspections. Chris, Zeth and Cody were always easy to talk to whenever we had questions and gave us good suggestions for the porch and deck. Cody was on the site almost every day to oversee the work and take care of day to day issues or questions. The crew was very polite and worked hard. One day we spotted one of the roofers climbing up to the main roof and found out he had seen a loose shingle and went up to fix it! We didn't even know it was there but really appreciated his extra efforts on our behalf. The patio door we ordered was a bit smaller than the previous one but Atlantic trimmed it out in a beautiful molding that looks even better than before. Every day the work site was left in good order and debris was picked up promptly. This contractor is busy and justifiably so. Our porch project was a great experience from start to finish. Last but not least, our new gates look so nice. After removing the old rotted gates, Atlantic installed new posts and built beautiful new gates on either side of the yard.
Description of Work: Constructed a 14 x18 foot screened in porch with gable roof, white vinyl trim and pt tongue in groove flooring with an attached Trex deck. Also installed a new sliding patio door, ceiling fan, electric outlets and relocated water spigot as well as replaced two gates in our fence.

We were extremely pleased. We hadn't responded when we originally got the estimate and decided to take advantage of their 10% off for deck work done in the winter months. This was the lowest estimate we got. Other contractors said we needed to do this or that which were not required by the county inspection. Atlantic deck knew what the requirements were and how to meet them without spending a lot of unnecessary $$. they were also very good at tying into an older lower deck so we did not have to replace that as others had suggested, which also kept the cost down. the flooring uses diagonal boards which is really attractive and they did not charge extra for that. Happened to be standing on the deck when the earthquake shook. The deck vibrated but it's just as firm as ever!!

Company did excellent work and was very responsive to my concerns.
Description of Work: After talking with five deck builders, I contracted with Atlantic Deck. Chris, the owner was the only one that designed the deck exactly the way I wanted--and even gave several good suggestions. He was on time for the appointment and responsive in submitting his proposal. His price was also very competitive and a good value for the work to be done. Since we were replacing a 17 year old wood deck with a slightly larger composite deck, I had many questions about design, materials, construction, etc. Chris answered everything to my satisfaction. The crew arrived as scheduled and worked tirelessly in cold and often rainy weather for two and one-half weeks and did a beautiful job. There were several tricky angles but all were built very well. The foreman, Cody, came by every day to ensure things were being done properly and the construction passed the county inspection with no problems. Several months later there were a few minor things that needed to be fixed (mainly due to weathering). Chris and his team were very responsive in coming out and making the repairs. They stand behind their warranty. We are very pleased with the professionalism, workmanship, price, and responsiveness of Atlantic Deck and would be pleased to recommend them to anyone who needs their services.
