Our business is dedicated to providing Northern Virginia with professional home remodeling and general construction. Our Company offers free estimates.
Keith showed up when planned and looked everything over. The very next day I had a written order of work that met all of my requirements. He came very quickly once I signed the contract and delivered materials. He did some pre-fabrication in his shop, as well. The work was done quickly and very professionally. I was so pleased that I recommended him to a friend who needed a whole deck rebuild, and she was very satisfied as well.
Description of Work: Rebuilt stairs, replaced support poles and beams to bring deck up to code. They also replaced a rotted joist.

It was a challenge looking for someone to build a deck without charging us a fortune. After reading reviews, I contacted Arundel WW and got their prompt response. Keith came over later the same day and discussed the project in detail, we settled on a price and signed a contract the very next day. Keith and his team are thorough professionals and finished the job. We had a great experience working with Keith and Ann. Our project got started and finished on time. Due to his quality of work and professionalism I have referred him to my family and friends as well. I will definitely hire him again for future projects.
Description of Work: Built a 9'x9' deck with 9 steps.

Keith examined the job the afternoon on Thursday and we discussed his proposed solution and answer my questions and concerns. He said that he would get back to me that afternoon with an E-mail after consulting with his manager. He did say that he could do the project in four hours the next afternoon. I received a call early the next morning with a quoted cost which I accepted. Indeed he and his crew arrived at 2:00pm the next day and completed the job in four hours. It looks good and it's still standing. Only time will tell. I should say that another contractor quoted me 5,080 plus an estimated $400 for materials.
Description of Work: Arundel Woodworks installed two, new 6"x6" posts to replace my three rotted 4"x4" posts. This entailed digging and constructing new footers and installing a new support beam made of two 2"x10" planks.

Keith's came and checked out the job, discussed what was needed. When I had different quotes for different types of treads and risers he advised me on the best course of action. Today he and his team came and installed the stairs quickly and cleanly. All the team were careful in my home, treated me and it with respect and cleaned everything up afterwards.
Description of Work: Replaced carpet in the stairs with hardwood stairs. installed retrofit wood stair treads and risers.

Keith and his crew did an excellent job on this project. Keith was great to work with from the initial consult, through the planning, permitting and building phases as well. The team did a great job building the deck and it looks great. Once we received the permit, it was up and done in no time. Once the wood is ready, they will do the final sanding and sealing so we can have our hot tub delivered.
Description of Work: Replaced 10x10 elevated wood deck for Hot Tub installation.

The job involved a kitchen renovation, and it was not done for me as a favor. I paid for the job according to a contract, and the prices were commensurate with those that another customer had paid. It was explained to me that the prices were low because the company owners were doing the work themselves, except for electric and plumbing. For electric and plumbing they had their preferred contractors and I would have to strike a deal with them on my own. Two days before the job Keith tried to cancel because he had another commitment. He tried to engage a buddy to do my work, but the person (a plumber) was not clear about his role (which also involved demolition) and he canceled. There was no coordination. I was forced to look for substitutes on short notice. This was really costly. After Keith's electrician came, I found out that he had failed inspection of an earlier job the previous week. I also found out that the prices that the electrician tried to charge were double than that of a traditional company. The electrican came and did less than a third of the job, then demanded full payment and didn't know when he would return to finish. I had his work inspected by a reputable firm and we found an exposed wire (that could have caused a fire) that he threw behind the wall. Additionally, he did not configure sufficient load to the appliances. This man touts himself as a master electrician. I documented this with pictures, then had to pay an additional amount to have this fixed, on top of what I had already paid. After the demolition and electrical was done, Keith finally was able to come into my place to install the kitchen cabinets, 15 floor tiles, and get the walls paint-ready. I paid someone to put the cabinets together in advance of Keith's coming, to save him time. He was late at least two hours a day and left early nearly everyday. On some scheduled days, he would not come even after I had taken time off work. He is supposed to be a master craftsman, but did not read the instructions to hang the cabinets and hung them upside down. This had to be fixed and created extra holes that I had to patch up on the wood. He also did not use a suspension bar, that I could have easily supplied, because he said it was not necessary. Additionally, I asked him to hang the cabinets on wall studs. He refused to do this and used and quot;toggle boltsand quot; that were merely screwed into the wall. Consequently, the cabinets fell. He finally accepted that they had to be screwed on to the studs. Therefore, the reason why he had a difficult time working was not because the cabinets were cheap, it was because he was doing the work (not according to a master craftsman) but cutting corners. Later on, between he and his wife, they patched up the walls and left them only 70% ready. I had to pay another person to finish their work and fully-ready it up for paint. Another unforeseen expense to me based on their cutting corners. Just a few weeks ago, I had to pay someone to remove the cabinet doors that Keith hung because they were not and quot;straightand quot; and interfered with side cabinets. We also had to remove a spacer that Keith forced between the cabinets because it was compressing a side cabinet. This was all fixed at additional expense to me. Because Keith promotes himself as a master craftsman, I asked him to give me a quote to make a pantry door. He picked wood and paint from my place and asked for $400. I called to cancel because an inspector later told me that this was too much money, since I was providing all materials. I contacted Keith and his wife to get back my supplies because the paint that they took has a formula that matches the rest of my place. They never answered my call or emails. Their reponse to me through Angie's List is that they deserve to keep my supplies for their trouble. In summary, Keith may be a master craftsman, but this experience is not being applied to the work. Instead of accepting accountability, he blames the product or the work that others have had to do (at additional expense to me) to fix his shortcomings. His referred electrician, Marx Electric (also on Angie's List) is of the same caliber.
Description of Work: Keith installed kitchen cabinets that were already put together (to save him time); laid down kitchen tile (about 15 tiles), and was supposed to repair the walls to get them kitchen-ready.

We accepted this job as a favor to another customer who had some tile installed and that went very well. This job was supposed to be a kitchen remodel. When we arrived the customer had some very cheap cabinets from Ikea. That,in addition to the fact that was in a very restrictive condo setting , is something that we normally would not accept. We put the cabinets together at no charge and installed them at a much lower price than we would normally charge. While we were there we were asked to do many extras, which we did. The customer asked us to fabricate and install some doors and a partition. She was clearly not able to afford it so she hired a "hack" to complete the work. As is often the case,we were called back in to try to clean up the resulting mess. What I found was two warped cabinet doors built from plywood with iron on edging. She insisted that we take them back to our shop, which is more than an hour away, and fix them. When I called her with the price, after completing the work, she told us the price was too high and to forget it. The bottom line is,I have more time and labor in this by far than the materials involved.(about $40.00 in plywood and $10.00 in iron on veneer.) She would be much better off if she would save up some cash and buy some real cabinet doors online. A local handyman could install them for the price of a service call and that would fix the problem. I have been doing this sinse 1986 and I have seen things like this before. My instinct is to walk away,as my plumber and electrician did, but sometimes its nice to try to help out. The moral of this story is to get estimates and consider all options BEFORE trying to rush the job, and of course, shop within your means. My site is arundelwoodworks.com.We are clearly qualified and testimonials are available on the site and by request. Keith - Arundel Woodworks

It went fantastic! Keith and his wife completely understood our "vision" for the house and helped us achieve it through their sound and experienced advice as well as expert application and installation.
Description of Work: Arundel Woodworks is a somewhat misleading name for this terrific company that is capable of doing so much more than just "woodworks." Keith applied backsplash in our kitchen, put down ceramic tile flooring throughout the whole place, put up shower tile and installed a new european shower door kit, and then installed new baseboards throughout the house.
