POTOMAC PAVING

Went well. When they finished the owner wanted additional money above what we had agreed on. I don't like that. I did give him some but not all of the additional money requested. The driveway still holds water in areas. Overall it looks good and they did show up on time and finish in one day.

The experience was great. Al came by our house one afternoon, measured our driveway and emailed us a quote. He then came out one evening and spent quite a bit of time explaining everything that he would be doing from start to finish. He answered all our questions and explained things that we didn't even think to ask about. He also explained that he would put down some asphalt in front of the mailbox so that we didn't have a big mud hole there anymore, which was something that we thought was really nice and that we hadn't thought about. He was not pushy and was very personable. After speaking with him and comparing all our other quotes we decided that we wanted to work with Al and we are glad we did. The morning they came out his crew got right to work. They finished all the prep work the first day and then came back the next morning and put down the asphalt. His employees were very easy to work with and are very hard workers. He asked us what we wanted him to do with the extra gravel that he would be taking up from our driveway. We told him just to put it in our ditch lines because we were going to fix it up around the drain pipes that go underneath our driveway. That day I looked out and his crew was not only putting the gravel in the ditch lines but went ahead and fixed it up nice and neat around the drain pipes. This was something that we were going to do ourselves but he crew graciously did it for us. Our driveway looks amazing and we couldn't be happier with our decision to work with Al. We would certainly hire him again. He is going to come out in the spring and seal our driveway for us.

We were having difficulty keeping rain runoff from our driveway from entering our carport and ultimately draining down next to the basement foundation walls. Al came out to give us an estimate and spent a lot of time assessing the pitch and condition of the driveway, and to offer possible solutions to our water problem. He gave us a fair price for the solution that would completely resolve our water problem. Al and his crew arrived on time early in the morning and began removing the top part of the driveway with a Bobcat in order to install a culvert drain pipe and drain in front of the carport apron. The crew showed expertise in regrading the pitch of the driveway to direct rain runoff, as well as paving around the new drain they installed. They hand-crafted curbs along one side of the driveway and at the carport entrance to fully insure that water would go into the drain and away from the carport. They also excavated and repaved the driveway where it met the road so that it was a smooth transition between the two parts. They thoroughly cleaned up and left a beautifully crafted and much improved driveway. Overall, we are very pleased with the professionalism and expertise of Al and his crew. We would definitely use them again for our paving needs.

Al and his crew were punctual and professional. The job started and ended on time. Al is an honest man who takes great pride in his work, and this shows. He went to great lengths to explain to me how he was going to repair the driveway and how he was going to reinforce the most vulnerable areas so the job would last a long time. The driveway looks like a new driveway with the repairs and overlay that Al and his crew did. The price was very reasonable for the amount of labor and material. Took several weeks to schedule work due to weather. Arrived when scheduled. Professional crew (for a group of pavers). Went right to work. Thorough. Cleaned up and were gone in about 2 hours.

Al Worton, the owner, explained the whole process which included regrading the existing roadway and adding stone where needed. They laid three inches of asphalt and rolled it to a smooth finish, both by machine and by hand. The crew arrived when promised and worked until after dark. They paved approximately 1600 feet with a width of 10-12 feet. Al was very personable and easy to work with. The crew was professional and everyone worked well together.
