Phillips Heating & Air Cond

Sturgis Phillips came out the day I contacted him and assessed my situation, providing options with pro's and con's and his recommendations. He was the second contractor to come out and by far the most open. While he doesn't even see internet postings, everything he told me was information that I'd verified through my own experiences or recent internet searches for equipment and situations, and in complete agreement. I selected Phillips to do the work at a more than $2500 cost savings (the first contractor was unreasonably high in price even considering the equipment brand). I selected a 16 SEER rated 2 ton Goodman combination with variable speed fan and programmable thermostat. The Goodman's (while previously not a favorite of anyone - myself included) have come a long way over the years, with an industry standard full 10yr warranty on the equipment plus an exceptional lifetime (for current owner) warranty on the compressor. The work was completed on a Saturday for exactly the quoted price, and I couldn't possibly be happier with the workmanship, cleanliness or results. Anyone in the King George, VA area should contact Phillips prior to having their work done. They have more than 30 years of experience in the business (I don't know exactly how much) and are just wonderful folks to deal with.

We had a couple false starts getting together for the initial consultation to discuss the work to be performed. Greg Phillips, the owner of the company, inspected the site and recommended the heat pump unit and we discussed the type of duct work we wanted installed. We were satisfied with his knowledge of the units and installation procedures as well as his recommended course of action plus his quote was less than the competition, so we contracted with him to do the work. The work was begun soon after the contract was signed. When we did the initial inspection of the work, we discovered several places where the workers had not adequately insulated the duct work. Greg agreed the work was not up to his standards, and he redid it himself. However, the only reason we knew the work was not right is because my husband was willing to crawl through the crawlspace and do his own visual inspection. If you are not the sort of person willing to do this, you probably would not have known. That's why I rate the contractor a "B" overall. The heat pump does work well, though, and I have no complaints. Greg is also an electrician. His install on our electrical box was very good. I would definitely hire him again to do electrical work for me.

They did a very good job. They were priced very competitively compared to other companies. They did the job very quickly. It only took them 1 week which was faster than the anticipated. They were able to come out right away one time where we needed some service. They did not charge us for the call even though it was 6 months after the install occurred. They come out once a year just to check the system.
