The two technicians who did the actual work were excellent and deserve commendation. The person or persons responsible for the humidifier cost quote did not properly represent the deal to me. The bill was much greater than the estimate/quote. The office did not initially apply the Angies discount but they did after I asked for it.

The guys showed up right on time and were very thorough on the check up. Our unit had been giving us some issues so the technician spent additional time making sure that the unit was running properly and everything was as it should be before leaving. They only charged a small additional fee and were here almost 2 hours making sure the unit ran correctly. They were very thorough and did not rush just because we had purchased a discount service. I would recommend this company to anyone.

The mechanic was very thorough in checking our furnace and heat pump and trying to figure out how they all worked together. He patiently answered all of our questions and gave good advice. Will hire again!

Tom was later than expected (but I was given a "heads up", so that was fine). He looked over the furnace and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was in great shape. I really appreciate the fact that he didn't try to get me to buy any unneeded services.

Purchase a tune-up deal from angieslist and set up an appointment with the service provider. The technician showed up on-time and finished the service. He answered all my question.

Everything went very well from start to finish. Once I purchased the coupon on Angie's List, I was immediately contacted by a representative from Armstrong Mechanical to set up the service. I was able to make an appointment within 1 week of my request. The technician was very prompt, professional, friendly, and efficient.

Not good. They came out twice replaced parts twice and my unit still doesn't work

on time , and exactly as contracted.

I was under the impression that a tune up would entail a little servicing of the system. My thought was that they would not only just inspect the system but also do a little preventative maintenance on the system. Instead the technician came out, and he was very friendly, but only took down the make and model of my system and did a visual inspection of the system. No new filters, no slime tablets, no checking freon. When I inquired about this he told me that you only get a visual inspection for a tune up. It was a good learning experience for me as i wasted $50 on the service.

The 30 year old A/C died and it was time for a replacement. I called and made an appointment - the appointment went very well. I asked a lot of questions about lots of items: efficiency, filters, gas exhausts, replacement times, etc. All my questions were answered with patience and explanations that I could understand. The quote for the items discussed was e-mailed the next day and installation was scheduled. The crew showed up on the scheduled date and they really, REALLY worked. Pulled the old units out; in with the new. The work crew was very respectful and this their best to keep a clean work area. I would periodically go and watch and they (patiently, again) explained what they were doing... Everything was installed, the new thermostat settings were explained and the house got cool again! The pricing was better than the other quote that I'd received - less $$ for a more efficient system with a better warranty. I recommend them to ANYONE who needs a quality, professional job done!

The tech, Gerald, arrived on time and was very professional. He checked out both of my home's A/C systems to ensure proper functionality. His work was precise and efficient. There were no issues so he was able to wrap up everything in about 30 minutes.

The company convinced us to sign an annual agreement in December 2015 when they performed a "coupon" periodic inspection on the gas furnace. By late May they had not called to perform a periodic inspection on the central split-system air conditioner. Noticed system was running longer than usual and not removing humidity very well. Called to schedule the periodic inspection and advised them system had iced up earlier that week. Technician found refrigerant pressure was low and added 4 pounds R-22 at $110 per pound - system held 6.5 pounds total. He stated he could also add a sealer if I wanted - of course I wanted! Stated the sealer would surely take care of any leaks - additional $95. Ten days later system was not cooling well or removing humidity. Called another company referred to by a friend. That tech looked for a leak in the evaporator coil by spraying with soapy water. With none found he followed the liquid line toward the condenser unit and found the line was discolored in two places where it was laying directly on the ground - furnace and coil are in crawl space - and took photos to show me. Found the leak was in the liquid line. He stated he was not supposed to add R-22 refrigerant to a system with known leaks - for environmental reasons - and we asked for quotes to replace the liquid line and evaporator coil since it was 16 years old and quite corroded - I had also read that particular coil had historically suffered from corrosion issues. As the repair came out at 40 percent of the cost of a new system we went with a new system with a SEER rating 4 points higher than the existing system. I ended up very disappointed that the first company, 1) had not scheduled a periodic check of the air conditioner by June 1; 2) charged more than twice the per pound price for R-22 refrigerant than the second company quoted, and 3) never bothered to look for a known leak in the system. I must add that the technician was very nice and answered a ton of my questions but I believe he put too much confidence in the sealer and should have looked for the known leak before doing anything else.

I called Armstrong at about 8:30am in morning on 4/22/16 to have them come by and look at my A/C unit. My wife stays at home and watches two small children, a 3 month old and a 3 year old. So it is very important to have functioning A/C. I gave them all the details of what was occurring and I was initially told I should have called earlier because they could have put my at the beginning of the day and now I would be at the end. Apparently 8:30am is mid-day (my ignorance). The person I spoke with, Amy, was very friendly. She said someone would be at my house at 3:30-4pm. I said sounds good. At about 3:45pm Amy called back and said the tech was running about a half hour late. I said that 's fine. Fast forward to 5:30pm I was forced to leave the house due to another commitment. I never received a call back and I was home the entire time. The weekend went by and no contact. I called Armstrong back again about 8:30am on 4/25/16 and talked with Amy. Asked her if someone would be coming by today because no one showed up on Friday. I also asked if they cold not service me to let me know and i would take my business elsewhere. She sounded surprised and said she would need to call me back and see if she could juggle some things around and fit me in. She called back about 10 minutes later and said it would be the end of the day. I told her OK but I would be looking to see if someone else could fit me in before because i had another engagement at little after 5pm. I was not feeling very confident based on their first missed appointment that I could make my appointment on time. After I hung up I was able to find another business who said they could come by in the afternoon and would have no problem with me making my appointment. This is very unusual for my to rate somebody poorly because I understand things happens. The problem is there has to be communication in order for expectations to be understood and agreed upon by all parties. I followed back up with Amy and cancelled my appointment.

Called at 9AM and service was scheduled for 11AM. Serviceman was extremely helpful and informative and completed the repair very efficiently. I couldn't be more satisfied. So different than the company that installed my unit! I will definitely call this company again when I need service and I will recommend them to family and friends.

The technician, Shane, arrived on time and did an excellent job. He worked hard and did a very thorough examination of both our heating (2 separate gas furnaces) and cooling (2 air conditioners) systems. He did preventative maintenance (cleaning and replacing filters, etc) as he went through the systems. He explained to me a lot about what he was doing, why, and general information about our systems. He made one suggestion for improving our system, but did not push it, and I may or may not follow thru on this in the future. The cost was $295, and includes a similar preventative maintenance visit in the fall, pre-paid here. I feel we received good value for our money, and am happy to be using Armstrong Mechanical Services. Shane is an excellent service person in my view.

First Shane checked the outdoor unit and quickly found that there was a bad capacitor that was preventing the compressor from starting up. He replaced that with a spare he had in his truck and the system was working again. Then he checked the unit in my crawl space to figure out why the heat strips weren't doing their job. It turned out that there was a bad heat sequencer preventing the heat strips from coming on. He didn't have that part on him and gave me a quote for another service call to fix them, but suggested that it might be a better idea to replace the unit altogether (which I already knew). It's a 29 year old indoor unit and 15 year old outdoor unit and it's been running on miracles at this point. He got me a fair quote for a replacement system that I'm thinking about proceeding with. I should mention Shane was very courteous, knowledgeable, and he even put on little shoe covers any time he came in the house to prevent messes. Also, the office was a pleasure to work with. I called them that morning and the tech was at the house by noon. At first they said he'd be there within an hour, but then called back to let me know his first call was running a bit longer than expected. It doesn't bother me when they're running behind as long as I know, so I'm pleased that the office took the time to inform me.
