The Handyman Can LLC

Our experience was great. This is the second time that we have used The Handyman Can, and I am as equally pleased with the results as I was the first time we used them. Will and his team are punctual, clean and thorough with all work that they complete. In this instance, in addition to painting and cosmetic upgrades in our bathroom and two bedrooms, Will helped to connect us to a cabinet maker in Fairfax that made a custom cabinet to fit a former vanity space in our connecting bathroom. I had been all over the internet trying to find the same thing with absolutely no luck and had pretty much given up on the idea. He worked with the cabinet maker to match our cabinet finish perfectly - you cannot even tell it is a brand new addition - and installed it for us. I'm always impressed with how neat, detail oriented, and quality focused Will and team are - and I think that's what makes them a step above other handymen and contractors I've worked with. We absolutely plan to use him again!

They were prompt. They did the work as they promised they would. As of now it appears they did a good job. They cleaned up after they were done. They did what they said they would do. The price did not turn out to be more than he told me. They were very punctual. I would absolutely use them again.

Arrived exactly on time each day, and covered any thing that needed covering. Left the house in pristine condition at end of each of three workdays. Installed brand new toilet that turned out to have come with a defective washer - (Fault of American Standard - not the Handyman). The defective washer caused a very very slow leak that took a while to be detected. Promptly came back to install replacement washer when leak was noticed. Highly recommend, .

Will Grant was very responsive and returned my call almost immediately, and came out for an estimate as promised. He was very thoughtful about the options for the job, particularly the complex part of building a cover for our sump pump that was not ugly and would blend in with the rest of our new laminate flooring. The day before the job, he called to confirm we were still on, which was a nice touch and very professional. He and his assistant Carlos were onsite at the time they promised, and went promptly to work. He came up with a way to do the sump pump cover that exceeded my expectations and was masterfully crafted, we cannot even tell it is there unless you are looking directly at it close up. He and Carlos used drop cloths throughout and vacuumed meticulously after they were done, did not find one scrap of trash or sawdust anywhere. In the end also, he let me know that parts of the job ended up simpler than he thought, so he charged me $100 less than his original estimate. Would definitely recommend Will and we expect to be calling them again if we have future carpentry or handymen needs.

He did a good job. He was prompt and was here when he said he was willing to come out. The job was very good. Everything looks good now.

I will use them again in the future.

We really didn’t dislike anything about Will Grant’s services. We had to get the work done because it was supposed to be done and also we had to get that done because the Home Owners’ Association asked us to get that done. Home Owners’ Association came back to check on it. They thought everything came back fine. We haven’t had problems since then but it has only been a year or so. It is a little early for work like that to say if I am satisfied or not. We would use him again in the future if necessary.

Will and Carlos did excellent work at a fair price. They were professional and thorough. My only suggestion (and this is as much for me as the company) is to visually review each of the tasks after completion, not just go back through the list on the invoice. The light fixture I had replaced ended up looking off-center, thanks to the existing electrical box, and I would have preferred to have it centered at the time--rather than having to schedule another appointment.

I called Will in April and he came out the next day to look at the house and give me a quote. After evaluating his proposal along with two others, I selected his company a couple of weeks later. He gave me an approximate start date of the end of June or start of July. At the end of June, I had not heard from him so I had to call him up. We settled on a start date of mid-July. This was then pushed to the last week of July because his other job ran late. But once the start date came, Will's crew showed up and after an initial confirmation of the work to be done, time line, etc. they got right to work. They did a fantastic job! Umberto (crew chief) kept me updated on their progress and consulted with me on paint colors and railing choices. The new railing and columns look great. They were a pleasure to work with and I am sure that I will use Will and his crew again.

He did phenomenally. We were very pleased with him. He was courteous, friendly, professional, and very reasonably priced. We have used him since, and we will continue to use him for other projects around our house.

Will and his team were great to work with. For the estimate, Will came out to our house, looked at all jobs to be performed, and wrote up a proposal and price estimate. When he and his team came back to complete the work, Will was informative throughout the entire process, and kept the house very clean - since there was sanding and sawing involved, he and his team vacuumed frequently to keep dust to a minimum. This was especially nice since we have a young baby in the house! The quality of the work and attention to detail was excellent. Will took quite a bit of time to ensure the type of replacement wood and the match on the stain for the floor was a correct match. Additionally, the materials used during the interior and exterior repair process were always of a very high quality. I would recommend them and will use The Handyman Can again for other jobs around our home!

He was great and the work turned out very well. He was on time. He was very polite and made every effort not to mess up the house. I would definitely use him again. I think that his price was reasonable.

I first located The Handyman Can through Angie's List. Will Grant, the owner, did excellent work on my son's townhouse several months ago (see separate report). My son therefore engaged him to do the repair work on his condo after his renters moved out in April. Here is a summary of my son's experience: Will is very reliable and competent, and he is also very responsive and personable. He is capable of doing a wide range of repairs very well. He did excellent work on all the items listed above. I believe that his efficiency and competence has also saved me money. He found solutions to problems that other repair people had said could not easily be fixed. I got an excellent value for the price.

We really liked this guy but the estimate was a little high. They were very communicative with us.

Mr. Grant was thoroughly professional and completed all jobs in a timely manner with one helper. He made sure he understood what we wanted and made useful suggestions. Showed up when he said he would and did excellent work. He cleaned up and hauled away all the debris. We were very pleased overall.

The owner came out and provided an estimate. During the initial meeting, he discussed several options. He was very upfront, straightforward, honest and knowledgable. I had gotten some other quotes and the price seemed fair. I really went with him because he seemed to know what he was talking about and he had great reviews on Angie's List. He told me that his employee could come out and do the work the following week. Or if I could wait a few weeks, he could do it. I was fine with his employee doing the work. His employee called before he arrived. His employee did a great job, was punctual, and really cared about the workmanship. I asked him to caulk the top of the shower and he obliged. He didn't mind me standing over him every once in a while to see what he was doing. He was not obtrusive and did a great job cleaning up. Four months later, my bathroom still looks great! I would definately use him again.

Super! The owner, Will Grant, gave us an estimate for all work which was right on target. The job was arranged about six weeks in advance and Will and his crew started on the day promised. Will had estimated three days for all the work and it took three and a half days, but only because we added a small additional project during the job. All the work was accomplished with great care and professionalism: installations, plumbing, painting, tiling, carpentry, etc. The attention to quality and detail is truly impressive. One example: we had purchased grout for the tile and one of Will's guys was concerned we would be unhappy with the result because the grout was light colored against the dark tile and would look like bright stripes; we appreciated his concern and he ran out to get new grout that was a better choice. Will and his men work hard and efficiently and are all courteous and enjoy their work. We have had projects done previously by The Handyman Can and they have never let us down. Two thumbs up, once again!

Overall I am very pleased with the work Will and his team did. I had the added drama of needing it all compelted within 2 weeks since a house guest was due to arrive. Will scheudled the first day of work to begin early enough so that I could be there to let his crew in. They arrived as planned at 7:15AM and I was able to introduce them to my dog, who takes his guard duty seriously. From then on the crew had access and I did not need to be there to let them in. Every day when I came home I could see the progress made and I was very pleased with how well the guys cleaned up after themselves. They stored their equipment and material in my garage which was fine by me since that helped them stay on schedule. Will himself was very helpful. I had had bunion surgery and could not get to the store to select facuets and tile samples. Will bought them and let me decide at home what I wanted. He returned the items I did not want. This, given my mobility issues was very thoguthful and much appreciated. The only minor issues were with the placement of the towel racks, but Will is correcting that at no charge to me. Also, I think Will shoudl invest in an invoicing software program which would allow him to electronically track materials and labor hours. When asked for he has provided this detail but in a very manually way. I would highly reccomend you select The Handyman Can LLC for your needs. They were extremely professional, got the job done on time and within the budget Will estimated. I expect that of any contractor. However, Will and his guys went the extra distance to help me buy bringing home sample materials and letting me select from a choice rather than my having to either settle or take time off from work to shop myself.

It is so clear that Will Grant is an excellent employer, and his helpers have learned not only skills, but a true sense of professionalism from him. They really care about the quality of their work and want the homeowner to be completely happy. They showed up on time every morning. The work was done exceptionally well. They didn't waste any time -- no cell phone interruptions; lunch breaks only as long as it took to eat lunches brought from home. They worked efficiently, prepared work areas to minimize litter and dust, and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of every day. They were always in communication with us and often made suggestions for improvements. They were very nice people, too. The Handyman Can's prices may be a bit above average, but the work is superior and more than worth it. They prefer to schedule at least several days work on a job, and they give that job their total attention. I would recommend The Handyman Can without reservation.

The work went very will. Will and his coworker arrived on time and got to work quickly. All work was done very professionally, including expert patching of holes and repainting where needed, and complete clean-up at the end of the day. Will and team are always a pleasure to work with. We'll definitely call them again when projects arise.

My son and I are refurbishing a townhouse to rent out and I used Angie's List to find a handyman who could take care of a large number of different small repairs that we needed to get done. I called Will Grant (The Handyman Can, LLC) for an estimate, and he immediately responded. He met me at the townhouse the next Saturday and we went over the list of items described above. Will was courteous, professional and knowledgeable about all of the items, and gave me good advice on the best way to proceed with the repairs. We scheduled the work for the following Friday. Will's crew came on schedule and got the job done in one day. I met Will Friday evening and we went over all the work, which generally was excellent. My son and I will definitely use his company again.

Excellent experience. Will and his guys were professional, courteous and did great work. They were flexible in scheduling and doing things on the fly, and they were always willing to get paint and other supplies when necessary. I highly recommend them and definitely plan to use them again in the future.

Will Grant (the owner of the company) came out to do a written estimate. His price was pretty competitive with the other handyman estimates so we went with him since he had such great reviews. Turned out to be a great choice. We actually had Will come out twice to complete the work needed on the house with installing new doors and refitting the doors after we had carpet installed and the doors no longer closed properly. The house we bought had also settled over time so the doors had problems opening and shutting. One of the doors the owner had was just installed improperly and Will tried to fix it but couldn't plus the door had rotten. So we opted to buy a new door and had Will return to install it. Will was very nice and courteous and came on time. It was hard to schedule a date because he's always busy (which is a good sign, have to wait at least two weeks or even a month to get on his schedule) and he's a small company (has two people who works for him). Will is also pretty knowledgeable in general and also very creative when trying to find a unique solution to a situation. He's also honest about his work and is willing to work with you on almost everything. I would definitely look forward to hiring him in the future for other handyman like projects!

Found the damage and started calling around looking for someone to provide a temporary fix. Got put off by roofing companies and other handyman copies. Will called me back promptly and took the job for the next day. He was prompt and completed the job. His prompt response saved the day as we basically had a six foot long hole in the roof!

I decided to request an estimate from this company because of the great reports it got on Angie's List. Will Grant, the owner/contractor, provided an estimate for a whole hodge-podge of jobs that just finally needed to get done. Two old bathroom wall sconces got replaced; a chandelier with tricky wiring in the dining room got replaced; one extremely heavy mirror (over three feet wide and over six feet tall) and another smaller (but still heavy) mirror got hung; two old (and very loud) bathroom fans got replaced (one of the fans required a guy to work in a very tight area of attic space); a section of old baseboard that got missed by an earlier contractor got replaced to match the baseboard that's now present throughout the house; and a lopsided bathroom vanity counter/sink got leveled. Furthermore, there was an area where the dry wall fell off (exposing the wood underneath) when carpet got torn out for hardwood installation earlier this year. One of the guys on Will's team did a great job patching it up. When the carpet got torn out, it also exposed a small but really tricky area on the hardwood stairs - I had no idea if anyone would be able to fix it but Will and his team did (and with wood that matched my maple hardwood). The only task that wouldn't get an "A" was an area where drywall needed to be extended to create a "threshold" for an open entry that divided the master bedroom from the walk-in closet. About a week after completion, you can see the seams where the drywall sections were patched in, so not really artfully done. The whole list of projects took a day and a half. Will and three men came promptly at 7:30 on the first day and worked until 3. On the second day, only Will came at 9:30 to fix the tricky wiring for the chandelier, finish all the touch-up work, and hang the mirrors. He left everything clean and vacuumed. The quality of Will and his men's work was excellent. They were diligent, honest, thorough, and clean. There were a couple of times when I had to leave the house while they continued to work and I never felt uncomfortable about doing that. My biggest regret is that I didn't discover this contractor earlier. I will definitely use him again. I'm already telling friends about him.
