Not well. This is a "high maintenance" company. This means that it took a lot of work on my part to get the job done well, and they still owe me the installation of a jewelry drawer insert. Upon arrival the installers discovered that not all of the measurements were accurate and they were unable to work on a few closets. They had to take the inserts back to the shop to cut them. The "rounded trim" I ordered is not very attractive. It is glued on and the glue line shows - on one piece, there is a chip in the laminate next to the glue line. I will say that the designs recommended by the design person were excellent, fabulous. They have completely met my needs and exceeded my expectations. Towards the end of the job I noticed that one of the jewelry trays had a tear in it. A supervisor took it back and promised me a replacement. He apparently ordered new trays because he found that all of the trays in the shop were torn. To me this is poor preparation for a job. I think they should look at all of the parts they are going to install to make sure they have all the parts they need and that they are all in "ready to install" condition. About a month later I still had not heard back from the supervisor. I called him, and he told me they new jewelry trays had not come in yet. Within a few days, he called back to say they had arrived. At that point, approximately mid-January, I was out of town and told him I'd call him upon my return on January 23rd to schedule his return visit to install the jewelry tray. On January 22nd I had a death in the family, returned home to a funeral and was unable to call the supervisor back until Monday, January 30. The supervisor told me he'd call me the next day to schedule the return visit. I'm writing this report on February 2nd and have not had a return call. This goes back to my "high maintenance" comment. How many times do I have to call the company to get the final piece of the job done?

Given our efforts to please this client throughout the entire process, we were very surprised to receive this review especially since the jewelry tray in question was delivered last week as promised. Our velvet jewelry trays come plastic wrapped to protect them and therefore we do not open them until we are on-site to keep them clean. Several shelves did need to be re-cut on the initial installation but it did not impact the job at all as it was scheduled as a 2-day installation. The project was completed on time with one jewelry tray outstanding and the client signed off and paid in full. As the owner, I personally called the client to ensure she was happy with the work. She said that it was sweet that I called and that she was very happy and the call was appreciated. There was no mention of any issues. When we called to indicate the jewelry tray (which we had already removed from her bill) was in stock, she indicated there had been a death in the family and please do not call and that she would call us. When she called back a few weeks later on a Monday, we indicated that we were doing work in her area at the end of the week and asked whether we could deliver the jewelry tray then. She indicated that would be fine. We then made the delivery as promised on Friday. We also asked at that time whether she was happy with everything and again the response was affirmative. Immediately after reading this review, I again personally called the client to ask for additional feedback and clarification. As of this writing, we have not received a call. At Tailored Living, a great customer experience is our highest priority. Three consecutive years of Super Service Awards and Best Contractor of the Year 2011 are testament to this. We are always happy to address any issues that arises, but obviously cannot do so unless we are aware of them. Todd Carter, Owner

It was a pleasure to work with Tailored Living on this project. Todd came out to the house and we sat and looked at the different options for the closet redo. He listened and didn't try to give me things I didn't need or want. We agreed on a design and were able to get a date that worked for both of our schedules. Todd suggested a company to do the tear down of the old closet brackets and shelves and the painting. There were a few communications issues there but Tailored Living followed up repeatedly and it all worked out. The company who did the tear down and painting did an excellent job. The next day the guys from Tailored Living showed up and did the install. They reviewed all the components of the closet with me before installing just to avoid any errors. They did a great job on the install and cleaned up well after themselves. I'm very happy with my closet, the things Todd suggested that I would never have thought of and the overall results. I would highly recommend this company as they are very professional, follow up with you all the way through the project and deliver the results they promise. Thanks Todd and Juiliana and the team.

They took out the cheaper bar and they put in wood dividers, multiple bars, and doors and stuffs. When they originally scheduled the time for the guy to come out and do the closets, the guy showed up 2 hours late. When I asked him about that, he said they had a meeting, so he could not make out. They didn't let me know that they are coming late when they committed to a time. If needed, I would probably use them again in the future too.

We very much appreciate your business and hope you are enjoying the new closets. As with all clients, we provided a window of time for arrival from 8:30am - 9:30am. The installer arrived at 9:35am due to an internal meeting. We recognize that many of our clients have morning commitments and typically we arrive much closer to the earlier time than the later time. We agree that our communication could have been clearer in this case and in addition to apologizing, we provided the client with a discount. Sincerely, Todd Carter Owner

We are seniors who have used several different closet companies over the years. For a recent renovation/replacement of our old closets (7’ and 9’ wide, respectively), we wanted a superior quality product tailored to our specifications. After soliciting bids and examining the products of three companies, we selected Tailored Living of Northern Virginia. Todd Carter, the owner, together with one of his assistants, came to our home and did the most careful job of any company that we consulted in assessing how much space we required for the clothing (pants, dresses, shoes, purses, shirts, suits, ties, etc.) that we wished to store. We also visited Todd’s showroom/factory to examine his products. We asked Todd to make some modifications for our specific needs that he had never done before, which he was able to do at a much more reasonable price than his competition using identical quality stock. He delivered the product on time and we are very pleased with the result. All in all, it was a pleasure to work with Todd, and we enthusiastically recommend Tailored Living of Northern Virginia for your consideration.
Description of Work: Todd visited our home to view our original closet area and discussed our needs for storage with us as well as the types of materials used (including colors selection), and items such as tie racks, pull-out pants or skirt hangars, laundry baskets, etc. He then prepared a plan to replace our old, inefficient closets with new ones designed to take our needs and preferences into account and to maximize storage space and convenience in accessing items used most frequently. On the agreed-upon date, his crew then came and installed the new closets.

They always showed up when they said they would, and everyone removed their shoes! Very nice people all the way around. Once I got the design and estimate, I sent in a deposit and they started to work the week we agreed upon. There was a slight hitch with a piece of laminate that was damaged in transition, but that little bump was smoothed out easily as they reordered the piece and completed the job quickly. I highly recommend this family-run company. They did exactly what they said they would do in the time estimated for the price given. No surprises! Except, that I love my very organized home even more than I thought I would. If you are looking to add value to your home and get organized at the same time, let Todd at Tailored Living help you out.
Description of Work: Tailored Living did a great job making the most of the closets, kitchen pantry and laundry "room" in my four-story townhome. They also built a wonderful shelving unit with storage and work area for my office that doubles as a guest room. While I thought my master closet would be my favorite, it tuns out the kitchen panty made a huge impact on my day-to-day happiness level! (The master closet was a close second.) The folks at Tailored Living thought of things I never would have, such as very high shelving for out of season items in the bedrooms and pull out rods for belts and ties. They use high-quality materials and the work was done in a timely fashion.

The whole experience was great. The communication was great and they were on time for installation. The guys they sent to install the new closets were great, specially Hassan who did an excellent job and didn't leave anything to chance when it comes to securing the closets to the walls, and they were done in less than 3 hours. They were very neat, and they cleaned after they were done. I would definetely recommend Tailored Living for their professionalism, their great communication, their price, the way they do business, for the product they deliver and the way they install it because after all a great product with poor installation wouldn't look that great. Thank you guys, and hope to see you for any new project I have.

Could not have asked for anything to go any smoother.
Description of Work: My 17 year old son's small reach in closet - broke (ploe pulled out of the wall and all the clothes were on the floor). I called Todd at Tailored Living - and as all other reports say - he was great. Since it was a small closet he did have some inventory that he could use - and in 2 days his installer was out. Todd put together a great design to maximize the space. Hasanne the installer was wonderful; very professional, got the job done quickly - and it looks great. My son can not believe how much more functional the closet is, and how much more he can easily store. Thanks Todd!

I had a great experience - I did not end up getting my closet redone, but it had nothing to do with the company. If I ever choose to do this, I would definitely use this company. Todd (the owner) was so nice and respectful, and he spent hours with me on the consultation. When I told him that I couldn't move forward, he was incredibly professional even though he probably burned up hours of time on me! I highly recommend.

I love, Love, LOVE my new closet. I should have had it done years ago. It was an absolute pleasure doing business with Todd Carter and the team at Tailored Living. The installation was done exactly as they said, and when they said. And it only took one day, just as they promised. I really appreciated that precise and punctual service. I've had other home projects done by random contractors and the projects were either completed late, or not completed at all.....so I absolutely recommend Tailored Living to anyone looking to better organize a space. They spend quality time with you to ensure the design you choose will fit all your needs, and offered suggestions for storage and organizational options I had not thought of. The Tailored Living installers were very professional and talented. The final product is absolutely fabulous!! Thank you to Tailored Living for a wonderful experience and a magnificent closet.
Description of Work: I had a complete master closet renovation. Before the renovation, the closet was a simple, bare-bones closet with hanging poles for the clothes and a shelf. There was a large amount of wasted space above the shelf and below where the clothes hung. The new closet is a dream closet. It runs floor to ceiling and has great cubby holes for clothes, drawers for storage, cupboarded section for more clothes, a huge section for shoes, and even a laundry basket built right in. The crown molding and floor kick boards really make the unit very finished and customized. They even offered paint color suggestions for the back of the closet, but I chose the wooden paneling that matches the shelves. The Tailored Living team even replaced the light in my closet to really show off the new set up. I wish there was a space here to include photos so I could show off the final product. I love the closet so much, I may never move.

Todd is a great businessman to work with. We made it clear to him that our expectations were high and that we had a lot of customization ideas we wanted to incorporate into our closet design, beyond just those which he typically had to offer. In addition to these, we needed to coordinate our electrician to have rough-in work completed prior to his crew's arrival. He gladly worked directly with our electrician to provide them drawings of the locations in his storage system where we needed the rough-in work to be placed and they were able to have everything done on time. The installation was scheduled for the date it began and we had ample time to move everything out of the closet prior to their arrival. (I recommend anyone doing a closet overhaul, go out and buy some moving or storage company wardrobe boxes). The crew worked cleanly and efficiently on the first day of demo and installation. Their saw caught on fire in our driveway, but they had a back-up saw in their truck which prevented what I was sure was going to be a lost day. The second day brought more installation and detail work, which included some creativity on the lead installer's part to adapt to some less than square and plum construction in our 30 plus year old house. The final configuration resulted in a half dozen or so "punchlist" items that we brought to Todd's attention and he immediately came out, reviewed with us and proposed solutions to. Overall, we have a completely customized master closet that has literally changed the way we greet each new day! We will be using them for additional projects in our house in the future and highly recommend them.

From the beginning, our experience was a most pleasant one. Todd and his install crew were top-notch. The install took two day but given that there were two closets and some very bad weather involved, it was top-notch. The install crew was efficient, polite, and truly professional during the entire operation. In addition, Tiffany, the office manager, was a pleasure to work with in scheduling (weather again a factor) and in helping with the selection of the hardware for the doors and drawers. I would not hesitate to recommend Tailored Living of Northern Virginia. Totally professional organization......
Description of Work: We had two walk-in closets (7'X10' ea) installed....included units with raised panel doors, drawers, hampers, and a collapsible ironing board in one unit. The design for one closet included slanted shelving with railing to hold "lots and lots" of women's shoes. There were also adjustable shelves to handle purses, boots, and other tall objects. The install also included accessories such as tie racks, belts racks, valet rods, and a pull out trousers rack that holds 24 pairs of trousers.

Awesome. Todd Carter and his company, Closet Tailors provided terrific service. It was easy to arrange an appointment. Todd came and measured for four closets to be rebuilt & reorganized, and stayed for an hour working out the design elements. His installer, John, came a few days after that, on schedule, for three days, to work on the closets. Todd is a creative, easygoing, efficient professional designer, and John is superb at the carpentry work, as well as polite and punctual. Tiffany, who manages the office is cordial and helpful. I am asking them back to do more shelving design and work. Thanks, Angie!

After an initial visit for taking measurements and finding out our needs, we met with the owner and designer at their showroom to fine tune the design, pick wood color, and counter tops. We consulted a separate interior decorator to help with color selection for paint and counter tops. From the inital consultation until the final installation, it took about two months, but that was partly because we had to have so much other work done ahead of time (painting, floor refinishing, and lighting/electrial). The cabinets and drawers are very good quality and the bookshelves are beautiful. We are very happy with the design of the two work spaces and storage capacity. They worked with us to hide all the wiring of the PC and printer under the countertops and in the cabinets. Excellent installers, very professional, and exacting. Even though our floors and walls are very uneven, they were able to hide all that beautifully.

Everything went great. We were going to purchase unpainted base cabinets and have custom shelves built, and then paint everything, but we decided to go with Closet Tailors instead. For about the same money, we received a high-quality system that was adjustable and had several nice features that weren't available with our first plan (e.g., hamper, jewelry drawer, retractable ironing board, telescoping belt, tie, and scarf racks, etc.). They were very professional, showed up on time, finished on time, and the installers even wore booties the whole time. The owner, Todd Carter, stayed involved throughout the whole process, and he is very knowledgable and friendly. A strong team all around.

We had interviewed several closet designers but our floor people (Thadson Flooring) recommended Todd and Closet Tailors of Reston. For both installations, Todd came to our house, measured, listened to our ideas, added his own ideas and came up with great designs. We received instructions ahead of time as to what we needed to do before the installations began, the crews were on time, great to work with and delivered exactly what we had envisioned. We absolutely love both the MB closet and our pantry and obviously would not have engaged Todd to do our pantry this year if we weren't happy with the first installation. I wouldn't hesitate to endorse him and his company for any organization makeover. He is just a joy to work with, knows his product and his installers are tops!
Description of Work: This was the second time we engaged Todd - we needed our walk-in pantry reshelved. We had wrap-around shelves done, two baskets, and two drawers for smaller goods installed. The first installation was our master bedroom closet (17'x12') done in April of 2009 ($5700) which was a 3 day endeavor with shelves, drawers, baskets, ironing board, two tie racks, three belt racks, 3 sets of cabinets, 10 hanging racks and an under window cabinet.
