We specialize in single family home roof, siding, gutter, and window replacements. We are no longer accepting any type of repair work. We recommend using a local handyman for these concerns as they typically are more economical and can address the concern(s) much quicker. Locally owned & operated for over 25 years. Award Winning Customer Service. Cost is determined by the job.
The work was performed while we were at work, but the worker was super helpful in that he took pictures of all work performed and sent them to use so we could ensure that all work was done and done correctly. Very happy with the level of care, thoroughness, and price of our repairs.
Description of Work: We had shingles fall off in a wind storm and St. John's was able to come out for a free estimate within two weeks of damage. At the time of the estimate they were able to put a few shingles on to hold us over until the work could be performed correctly. We also need flashing replaced and repaired on roof vents and widows peak. The repair estimate also included future repairs that should be addressed in the coming years.

Contacted this company today, after seeing their sign in my neighbor's lawn. Our roof contains asphalt shingles and a large, flat cooper roof. I spoke to the receptionist and asked if they could come and inspect our roof as we've been hearing loud banging and booming noises on the roof when the wind blows for the past week. I told her it sounds as though the cooper roofing is uplifted or not intact. I expressed concern due to the rain today, and that we can not visualize the roof from the street to make a clear determination. Her response was for me to "call a handyman." Besides, their crew was "two to three weeks out." Contacted this company today, after seeing their sign in my neighbor's lawn. Our roof contains asphalt shingles and a large, flat cooper roof. We experienced a fire in one attic of our split-level home October 17, 2014. Restoration work began in January 2015 and the restoration contractor replaced the damaged roof Subsequently upon completion of the interior and exterior damage, we sought quotes to replace the second undamaged roof so that both roofs would esthetically match. Much to our surprise most contractors refused to bid on a roofing job that did not include both roofs. St Joseph’s roofing was willing to help us out. Their quote was reasonable, their workmanship very professionally done and debris thoroughly cleaned. Saint Joseph Roofing’s representative, Nick Speidel seems to be the heart of the company. His sales approach was very low key with no pressure on us to sign a contract the day he showed up to provide the estimate. And, as it turned out, he also functioned as the project manager ensuring that the materials arrived on time and that things went as promised, overseeing all the work and final clean up and provided excellent customer service throughout the roofing process.
Description of Work: We needed a new roof on one of two roofs on our split-level house.

St. Joseph's roofing did an excellent job on our roof at a fraction of the price that was quoted to us by another roofing company. The Sales representative did not pressure us and did an excellent job of explaining the pricing of the roof, the best type of shingle for our home's environment, and the warranty options for the roof. The roofers arrived the day they were supposed to, and completed the job in one day. After the job was complete, the sales representative returned to ensure that we were completely satisfied with the work before any payment was made. St. Joseph's delivered a high quality product at a reasonable price and I would recommend them.

We are very satisfied with the timeliness and quality of the work performed. Nick Speidel is a real pleasure to work with and was very responsive to our requests. The work was minimally disruptive (we have two small children) with only the insulation work requiring us to be home. The work was scheduled and completed before solar panels were installed no problem. The roofing crew performed the work within a day and even replaced a small section above our Bilco door at the end of the day. We hadn't even noticed it was shingled at the time. I believe we only had 2 squares of plywood replaced. Our soffits were upgraded from circle vents to a continuous vent because Nick thought the latter would look better as our house (a colonial) sits slightly above the road and one can see the soffits more easily than other styles of home. The insulation guy also found our dryer vent was broken so he trekked to Home Depot and replaced that as well. We recommend SJR without reservation as they are an honest company and you will be happy you went with them.
Description of Work: We recently purchased our home and knew from the inspection that the roof was nearing its end of life. We hired St Joseph's Roofing (SJR) to replace our roof, increase attic insulation from R-19 to R-49, and add soffits for ventilation. Work included GAF Timberline HD shingles, Deck Armor synthetic underlayment, GAF ice & water shield, GAF ridge vent, and a drip edge.

We really wanted to believe this company's Angie's List A rating, but our experience was much less. Poor workmanship and lack of communication with clients, and between management to work crew was disappointing. Before signing the contract, we made known our preferences to have their regular employees do the work, and not a sub (who gets his people from anywhere). They encouraged us to trust them to use their regular subs because their core employees usually only do commercial buildings. They explained that the subs we had been warned against from a friend weren't employed by them anymore. The initial salesman seemed to know what he was talking about when he came out for an estimate. They'd have to remove the attic fan, and install a (code-required) ridge vent. He explained that it should go from end to end, telling us to look around at all the sloppy jobs done on other houses. They arrived on 10/8 and quickly did half the roof because rain was in the forecast, but first the "foreman" made it clear that it would be more work than expected because despite it being in the contract and well understood by management, he indicated no one told him it was 2 layers of shingles to remove. They resumed work two days later, finishing up at dusk. The next day, we checked their work by climbing into the attic and onto the roof. The live wires they cut to remove the attic fan were left hanging in mid air without being safely terminated. They replaced some underlayment with different material with a slightly different thickness (flake board) than the original plywood (not as per their contract), and in many cases replaced only small pieces spanning only 1 set of trusses. There were also indications that nails in these replaced sections had missed the joist. As a result the replaced piece lacked sufficient support and was soft and weak. Ridge vent cuts were made from end to end of the peak, but vent was not installed to cover all that was cut; instead, shingles were just slapped over the openings. The ridge vent did not go to the ends as promised. (Luckily we weren't on our deck as the work commenced - a 4" underlayment nail had been shot into our deck pergola and left.) We contacted the company with our findings. Nick came out to go over the problems on 10/15, taking pictures and agreeing that the work was poorly done. To re-work the unsatisfactory parts of the job they (at our request) sent a different group of subs on 10/19, who were late. One drove up in a truck we recognized as a local landscaper. They worked between 5-6 hours, with my husband supervising on the roof the entire time. Though the "punch list" of items to fix was well understood by management, the crew didn't know of all the items to fix, so they were without all the materials they needed. They didn't have wire nuts for the live attic wires. They were going to use tape over the wires, but my husband provided the wire nuts instead. Nick from corporate advised that there would be an adjustment in our bill, but since it was close to the weekend, we wouldn't hear from them until Monday, 10/24. After not receiving any communication we contacted them via text to Nick's cell phone, phone call, and email between 10/24 and 10/27. We have not heard anything from them. Being unresponsive to our contacts with them throughout this process has been frustrating. We opted for the 50 year roof which stipulates in their contract that it is subject to payment at the time of completion of the roof. There was no one from the company to pay. While the worst small pieces of underlayment that had been initially installed were removed as part of the re-work and entire 4'x8' plywood sheets were installed instead, there remains other areas where flake board underlayment was used instead of the original plywood, so we're not sure that the warranty wouldn't be voided anyway.

Schedule for tech to come to do estimate was easy & tech came to do estimate as expected. Tech was nice & seemed professional. However, company never sent written estimate as promised.
Absolutely no problems since the installation. Prior to, and during, installation they were the only ones who went inside my attic to see the old roof from the inside. They found problems which would have resulted in "adds" with the other venders, but we negotiated a fair price. Prior to the start of work. There were no "adds" as a result, the quoted price was the actual price---and the cost was very competitive (read: lower) than the others I had bids from. They were fast, efficient, and firmly committed to customer service. A very fine company! I was so impressed, I bought windows from them last year. Again, everything was great and I am very pleased with the product and the service.

Because I expected this job to be costly, we got six estimates. We picked St Joseph's based on the best combination of price and reputation. We also wanted to support a local family owned company. At first, I was frustrated to find out the entire roof, down to the rafters, had to be replaced. St Joseph's showed us sufficient evidence to justify this extra work. We are very pleased with the result. There was a minor problem with the gutter we ordered, but they made a pricing adjustment, which fixed the issue. Good people, fair pricing, and good work. What else do you need?

Chris Williams promptly came out and provided his expert opinion on my roof. He was extremely knowledgeable and was immediate in his assessment that my house had a 40-year roof on it and most likely would not have to be replaced for at least another 20 years. He provided additional information on potential leaks associated with chimneys and vent tubes including potential costs if it needed to be done. He was very enthusiastic and a pleasure to work with. I have already provided Chris's information to a friend who has questions about his roof.

We had bad leak in the roof that caused some of our drywall in an upstairs bedroom to fall down. We called St. Josephs because they had worked on my parents? home earlier in the year and had done a very good job. Nick showed up very quickly after we contacted them to help us with an estimate. He was very professional and thoroughly explained what was going on with our roof and what our options were. He even worked with us on the pricing to make sure it was something that we could afford as well as live with. Once everything was arranged and set it all went very quickly over a couple days. The work crews showed up got the job done fast and very well with little impact on our day to day life. The clean-up of the old roof was done very well, walking around the yard there is no debris or signs that two layers of roofing was just ripped off. The biggest thing for me was the extra work that was done behind the chimney area to prevent snow, and leaf build up. They added plywood to make a ?mini roof line? this will keep things from building up there and allowing moisture to sit against the roof and chimney. This the type of attention to detail/customer service that I think sets their company way above the rest. The fact that they went the extra mile on that blows me away, they didn't have to, and had they not I wouldn't have known or noticed, it would have looked and functioned as it always did, so not only was the roof fixed and repaired it was improved, that's huge to me.

St. Joseph's came recommended by my boss. I loved how responsive and flexible they were. The office staff was friendly and cheerful. For the estimate, they called me to let me know the gentleman would be available earlier if I wanted (I did). This was my second estimate and was very pleased to hear the cost was about 1/3 less than the other estimate. Chris was very thorough and informative of what was going on with my current roof and how they would remedy the problem. I have a small roof so the guys were finished in one day. The clean up left a little to be desired, shingle pieces and a few nails were still being picked up a week later. The owner Nick, came by to do a walk through, he went around and picked up things that he saw. I was appreciative. All in all though, the roof looks great, no more leaking, and I would totally hire them again!

We have used St Joseph's in the past with professional results. We scheduled the repairs on four dates all of which had to be cancelled due to rain. We have a cedar shake roof which is steep ... this combination requires a perfectly dry surface before it can be walked on. On the fifth scheduled repair date, Kevin arrived as scheduled and proceeded to make the agreed upon repairs. As always he was professional and efficient in his work. We are completely satisfied with the finished product and will seek out St Joseph's for any future roof issues.

I am a very demanding customer. I asked St. Joe's to match another quote, to use a shingle of my choice (not their recommended shingle), and I changed my color three times before work was performed. Then I noticed I did not correctly choose the color of drip edge that would be visible on my home's exterior and I asked them to remove what I saw going up and repurchase after work was started and product had been laid. They quickly repurchased to please me. St. Joseph's promises to serve the most "discerning homeowner" and that is me! The customer (me!) was always right in this experience, they gave me no grief over my many changes to get things just right. They patiently positioned shingles, gutters and gutter shields just how I wanted them after my watching water flow on this home for three years. This is my third sizeable job with St. Joseph's and I couldn't be happier. Their warranties are second to none and they graciously honor their warranties quickly and with no questions asked. Thank you to Rob, my salesman, and Kevin, who managed this large roof replacement and gutter work on a million $ home. It's beautiful!

St. Joseph's Roofing scheduled to come out on Saturday, November 14 to put on new shingles on a one-room addition. That morning no one showed up. I decided to give the representative a call to see if they were going to show up since I didn't hear anything the day before and didn't receive a call on the day when the work was to be done. I even emailed him. The whole day passed and still no return call or email. If they're not going to make it on the day they scheduled the work, I at least expect a call or an email to let me know. What type of business model is this?

[Member Name Removed], We sincerely apologize for the miscommunication. As we explained our representative had a family emergency. However, there's no excuse for not calling you. We do accept fault, which is disheartening. At SJR, we strive to deliver professionalism and to ensure that all our customers are completely satisfied by exceeding their expectations. This is evident from our long list of positive customer reviews. This is that rare, once in so-often mistake. Again we take full responsibility, which is why we offered to do the work for free. Once we learned that you had selected another company, we even offered to pay a portion of that bill, but this offer was declined. Please do not allow this interaction to define us as a company. Thank you.

Customer Update, August 21, 2015: After our initial review on Angie's List in July (see below), the Vice President of St. Joseph's Roofing, Nick, visited us at our house and apologized for all the hardship and poor customer service from his company. He explained that they were shocked by our review and that the crew that worked on our house had been terminated (there were other complaints too). He seemed to be as upset about how things turned out as we were. He took a look at all the issues, which were still apparent, and agreed to pay for any repairs by other contractors. We had someone who we use for interior work repair the water damage and St. Joseph's reimbursed us fully. Nick offered us a generous discount on the overall roofing charge as compensation. He also sent out a very competent repairman, Dave, who fixed all the dings and scuffs to the siding around our windows. I believe that if Nick had been aware of our problem at the beginning, Dave would have been sent to fix it and everything would have been fine. Even A-listed companies like St. Joseph's make mistakes from time to time, especially when dealing with rain, but they distinguish themselves by how they deal with customer's legitimate concerns. In this case, mistakes were made both by the crew and the operations manager. I have full confidence that Nick and the front office have learned by them and have made corrections. We are satisfied with how St. Joseph's owned up to their part in all of this, and how they ultimately remedied the situation. ============================== As far as we can tell, the quality of the roofing work was good, but the customer service was atrocious! The work was performed by a subcontractor while we were on vacation. Our neighbors reported that the roofers were working very quickly until a storm appeared. Apparently they didn't cover the roof properly because when we came home there were water spots on two different parts of the ceiling (living room and kitchen). The kitchen floor was sopping wet. We notified St. Joseph's about the problem and they dispatched the sub-contractor who denied that it was his fault and argued with us that the water stains were a preexisting problem. We told him that we would not pay until the damage was repaired, whereupon he relented and agreed to fix the damage. He came back 5 days later, causing us to miss our target for putting the house on the market. He did a hasty repair and left. A week later we discovered that the drywall was still wet and the area smelled musty. We already paid (St. Joseph's gave us a $250 refund for the inconvenience) but then had to have another contractor come out and fix the problem for twice the amount of the refund. They also bent and scuffed up the siding around our dormer windows while working on the shingles next to the windows. The supervisor from St. Joseph's never came out to see the damage himself and left us to fend for ourselves in dealing with his unscrupulous sub-contractor. I would never use them again, not even to fix the roof of a doghouse.
