Description of Work: I just called Douglas Roofing and got detailed advice about how to solve a problem of moss growing on my garage roof. The owner, Larry, did not try to sell me a new roof. I had a previous experience with Douglas Roofing about 3 years ago in which I got excellent service. These are honest and knowledgeable people.

+ 0 moreFrom estimate to work to some very minor "punch list" work, the work went very well, and the company and its people were a pleasure to work with. The proposals were detailed, the quality of materials proposed/used was excellent. The work started on time and was completed on time, with minimum disruption to our property or inconvenience to us. The minor items on our punch list after completion were handled promptly and completely.
Description of Work: Replaced roofing and gutters on house and separate garage. Roofing work included tear off of old roofs, replacement of plywood underlay (as needed), new underlay, drip edging on eaves/rakes, and new shingle vents on roof peaks. Gutters included new seamless guttering, downspouts, GutterStuff filler in gutters, and replacement of 17 feet of deteriorated facia board.

+ -1 moreNoticing a water stain on the kitchen ceiling, we immediately went to Angie's List for help. After reviewing roofing companies, we called several, but only Douglas Roofing could respond immediately. They arrived right on time for the estimate; did a thorough assessment of the roof; provided me pictures of the roof and a sketched out the problem and described the solution. Early the next week, their crew arrived early and completed the repair in less than 3 hours and did a great job cleaning up the work site. I highly recommend Douglas Roofing.
Description of Work: Douglas Roofing removed the shingles and roof from a bump-out section of roof over part of our kitchen. They reattached the gutter above the roof that was the source of the constant leak that caused three holes in the roof. They installed much better roofing materials not only on top of the roof but with the adjoining wall to better seal and protect that area, and did a great job in clean up.

Douglas Roofing provided clear information on the products available to meet our needs, and more than that, guided us in preparing the inside of the attic to best take advantage of our new edge vent and roof ridge vent system. Work was performed on time, on budget, and to the standards advertised. We needed a tweak on one gutter and Douglas Roofing returned promptly to adjust it. Very happy with Douglas Roofing.

+ -1 moreThe project went very well. The original estimate was generated in a timely manner. The owner, Larry, personally presented the quote. We discussed the options for materials and the proper ventilation requirements to obtain the manufacturers warranty on the shingles. I explained my concern to identify any rotted lumber at the fascia board under the aluminum wrap and he assured me that they would identify it during the tear off and only bad lumber would be replaced. No unnecessary replacement would occur. From the time they began until the finish I was very impressed with the amount of attention the owner gave to the project. He was on site from the first arrival of his crew and then several times throughout the project to ensure that every aspect was being inspected and completed properly. The crew was very experienced. They were able to fix every area of rotted lumber at the fascia as well as correcting bad wood around my chimney and back deck that had been rotted for years. The project was succesfull and I am very pleased. Douglas Roofing worked with me on every area that needed attention and provided the proper construction to obtain the full manufacturers warranty. The ventilation was critical to the warranty and some other contractors that bid the project were not fully addressing the ability to maintain the manufacturers warranty. The most impressive aspect was the attention the owner gave to the project. This is an excellent contractor and I recommend them completely.
Description of Work: Douglas Roofing tore off the old roofing, repaired bad plywood, installed proper ventilation system, and reroofed with new dimensional shingles. They also inspected for rotted fascia boards and replaced any bad wood with new material.

I was in a hurry because lot of storms were happening at that time and I needed this done ASAP. After the job was done, I got another estimate from another company from Angie's List $100.00 less than his. But it was too late by then.

Description of Work: My 15 year roof needed shingle and skylight repairs. I first used the recommended list from a local magazine and called three companies for estimates. All three companies were similar in price, Two accepted checks and one accepted cash only (I chose not to go with a cash only company- that person was not very happy with me because I preferred to pay by check. This amount is way too much to pay in cash). All three companies were responsive and walked the roof to provide an estimate. The roof has a steep pitch and large areas with blown off shingles because the house gets the full brunt of the west wind (two bundles were needed to make the repairs). Two companies also gave me estimates to replace the roof. One company recommended that the roof should be replaced since I plan to sell the house in a couple of years, while Douglas Roofing recommended a repair only. Larry, the owner, said that the existing shingles were 25 year shingles and in otherwise good condition, but that he would do whatever I decided to do. Since the roof also had four skylights that leaked, he looked at them and immediately diagnosed the problem as being the skylights and not the roof. While the skylights could be replaced (for a lot of money), a less costly option would be the use of clear silicone caulk around all exposed areas. The three estimates were roughly $800-900 for the shingle repairs and the remainder for the skylight caulking. After I called to advise him of my decision to go with him, I faxed the agreement back to him and later that afternoon, a crew of five men showed up to make the repairs. Everything was completed that afternoon and I had to leave to go somewhere and I did not have to stay. The work was performed well. I noticed that there was one area near the skylight that could use a shingle and when I commented about that, he sent a crew of four men over to take care of it. They put a small shingle there even though it technically didn't need one, just to satisfy me. My only suggestion would be that the company needs to call ahead when anyone will visit. While they said they would call at least 30 minutes ahead of time, in both instances, they just showed up. Will I use this company again- YES. Well done and thanks.

+ -1 moreHighly pleased with work performed; the fact that the estimate was the lowest of six was also a plus. During estimating process, all questions were answered thoroughly and patiently and all options completely explained with pros and cons. Company president, Larry Rimel, came on site to supervise work. Work was scheduled within a week of accepting estimate and completed in one day. Nearly 7 months later, when a small leak developed at a skylight, it was found to be unrelated to the roof work, but it was thoroughly investigated and repaired by Douglas Roofing at no charge. Could not be happier with the work and my decision to use this company.
Description of Work: Remove existing roof shingles. Replace with new underlayment, dimensional shingles, ice guards, flashing, drip edge, etc.
