Doug Bibb's Landscape Co

This provider has been working for us for over 15 years. He has done all the landscaping in our yard. His work has been going down hill. Lately, he has been showing up with a new crew. He has a couple of teenagers that are working for him now. They threw mulch over weeds rather than getting rid of the weeds first. Now, I have a terrible issues with weeds. My front porch was one of the things that he did for us recently. He did caulking around the stone and siding of my gray and brown home. He used orange caulk! I called him to fix it immediately. When I finally got him to come back out, he only covered the orange with white. It looks so bad. He put in driveways lights but they were installed incorrectly. He left the old lighting laying in the bushes. Since there are still wires attached, I not sure if he tapped into the old wiring. I can't remove the old lighting until I have someone else come out and check it out. I have a walkway in the yard and he covered up the area that is access to our septic tank. He was contracted to do this and he failed miserably. I have now had to hire another contractor to fix this as well as a screen he fix for us. He never stapled the screen to the frame. I wrote him a letter today advising that because his work has gotten so bad, that I can't do work with him anymore. I think that Doug should stick with Landscaping and forget about carpentry or stone work.

He is very professional and does excellent work. He is very upfront and open to suggestions for budget pricing. He provides alternatives for options that fit your budget. He is also very reliable and honest and great to work with.

I have been doing business with him for a very long time. He has single-handedly just transformed my yard; it is gorgeous. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. He is extremely professional. When he says he is going to be here at a certain time, he is here. His prices are a little expensive, but I do get what I pay for. His work is guaranteed. It did take a while for them to come.

Overall, the final product looks good. The process went somewhat smoothly, however my outdoor lights had to be repaired, as a wire was probably disconnected from the digging in the front yard. I also had to call my company to repair the sprinkler system because a pipe was damaged when a spike from the garden border punctured a pipe and when a pipe was also damaged from the extension of the drain pipe from the side of the house. Doug's contract stipulates that he is not responsible for any unforeseen damage to pipes, wires, etc. that are buried underground. Utilities are checked prior to the work, by Miss Utility, but he said there's no guarantee about the sprinklers and lighting. My disappointment with Doug Bibb is that he is responsive prior to receiving your money, but not so responsive once he gets it. I contacted him about 2 months ago to give me an estimate on adding some additional stepping stones that would cover a muddy area that leads to my yard. I also wanted to have some plants (2 japonicas, to be specific) replaced, since they did not survive the harsh winter. He made an appointment and came within days to give me an estimate. I found the estimate to be extremely high for the work. I was going to be charged close to $1400.00 for a palette of stepping stones that I was able to price for myself at $400. at the most. Doug was adding an additional $1,000.00 to the cost of the stones. I can only imagine now, what I must have been overcharged for the river rocks that were layed in all my garden beds. When I questioned the price, Doug said that if I didn't want to do the work now, he'd still honor his warranty on my plants. That was 2 months ago. I wrote to him asking when he could schedule replacing the plants. He did not respond. I then emailed him again 1 month later, and he did not respond. I waited another few weeks and sent an email telling him how disappointed I was in his unprofessional behavior and that he could at least have the courtesy of an email reply. He finally responded to that email to say "You are right in everything you said in your email. I will have the two japonicas replaced next week before Wednesday. Sorry about that. Doug Bibb" Needless to say, he didn't show up by Wednesday. I emailed him that Friday, to which he replied that he had to leave town the previous day and will be back Sunday and will take care of the japonicas soon. If he had to leave on Thursday, that still doesn't explain why the replacements couldn't be planted by Wed. Overall, I find his behavior unprofessional.

My interaction with him was great. He was great from start to finish. He returned all my calls. He was here when he said that he was going to be. He informed when there were delays. There were other guys who were doing the work but he checked-in every day to tell me what the schedule was and what they would be doing. He had a way to fix anytime a complication came out. In the end, they did a beautiful job. I would definitely recommend him to the other members. I had several estimates when I was doing the project and I was very pleased that I picked him. I would absolutely use them again in the future.
