Virginia Green

It went well. I sent the company a message through Angie's list and they responded very quickly. The man was very friendly and knowledgable when he called to set up the appt. and when he called to talk about what plan he thought would be best for our yard after he had inspected the grass. He recommended a plan that wasn't the most expensive and explained why. He did tell us about the other choices that were less expensive and more expensive. He did not pressure us to choose but answered all of our questions. When we did choose a plan he got things moving to start with our first of 5 treatments. We have had the first treatment and so far so good.

We contracted Virginia Green for lawn fertilization and weed control through the year. The grub treatment was an ala carte service outside of the regular contract schedule. We found them through a recommendation form our lawn maintenance contractor, whose opinion we trust. So far we have been very happy with their service. I think its a bit pricey, but I think their prices are in line with --if not better than-- most of the competition in this space. They are very professional and intent on providing the best service, so I would recommend them to a friend.

Great service, they call to see if you need any special care in any are of your lawn before they come out. They are on top of things, very professional. I have a treatment plan and my lawn has never looked better.

On time, easy payment, and the lawn is already looking better after the 2nd treatment. Going quite well thus far!

They are only to be there for them to come out and they did clean up on everything.

I had been unhappy with the service I used before contacting VA Green, so I went on Angie's List for a new provider and VA Green's name popped up. I called and a rep came the same day. I am giving this company an average B rating because I think they are very hard-sell when it isn't really necessary. The price is the same as what I had been paying but VA Green recommended 7 treatments instead of the standard 4 that I had been used to...which is an additional $150 per year.

I had seen their small yard signs around and looked them up on Angies List. They responded within a day and came out to give me an estimate on services. The sales person was very professional and knowledgeable. I asked several questions as to the process, which he answered. He knew I had dogs and asked if we wanted 24 hour prior notice, which I thought was a great idea. He did a very thorough measurement of my yard (front, side and back) and gave me a cost breakdown of each. The estimate was detailed and he took the time to explain their program. I thought the pricing was very fair so I told him let's get on the schedule. He said they would be out for the initial application within the week and they would call 24 hours ahead of time. They called on Tuesday...came out Thursday. Very pleased with how they have communicated and handled everything. Great service.

It has gone very well. It's the third or fourth year I have used them and they're very good people at what they're doing. Reliable service, they know what they're doing, experts in the field, and they're decently priced.

It is $64 for each application and it is usually about six applications. It seems to be a fair price.

They do a great job! They are very pricey for aeration and seeding, so we haven't used them for that. I would guess that they do a great job with that service as well.

We have been using this company for several years now and our lawn is beautiful , thick and healthy.

Positives: 1) I contacted VA Green in May after moving in & they immediately sent out a rep to assess our lawn & provide us with a quote for their programs. 2) By then, we had missed the first 2 applications out of 7. But fortunately, they only charge you for what they do. 3) After one season with VA Green, I have noticed my lawn is very green & with the cool season fescue grass that I have - it looks great in Spring & Fall. But I also religiously a once a week deep watering regimen during the summer & that helps with the greener color also! 4) Recently - had their aeration & overseeding service done & with 28 days of daily watering - the lawn is thick & lush. Despite the above: This rainy past summer - lawn had yellow patchy areas that VG said was disease caused by over watering - Rain+ regular watering- which they cover under their pricier Estate program. Also am disappointed that weeds - particularly at the edges of sidewalks & curbs - have shown up regularly despite the VG service. All-in-all - I am satisfied with VA Green for keeping my lawn green albeit with some patchiness of disease & edge weeds. VG always pick up the phone to answer your questions & parcel out advice for watering & other lawn care tips via a monthly newsletter. I will most likely renew my contract with them since it averages out to $58/mos over 12 months including the aeration (without it is $34 as a 12 month avg) & for the most part does what it's supposed to without any upsell. The only reasons I am giving VG a B is that the weeds are still around! UPDATE: My second year with VA Green has proved their worth. The grass season started slow for us in March & our fescue lawn stayed yellow much longer (coming out winter) vs. our neighbors. We were concern about disease or fungus of some sort & contacted VA Green with our issues. They sent a technician (I think it was Chris) to investigate. He proceeded to called for another opinion & they both collected soil samples for testing. After the soil came back negative for any disease, I had a conversation with VA Green & they assured me all the measures I have followed will prove beneficial ultimately. So around mid-late April, my lawn started coming around & through May-June it has looked lush & greener vs. my neighbors! Even into the hottest & driest days of July, my lawn has stayed relatively greener, more weed free, & required less mowing than my neighbors. The lawn didn't died & if it went dormant, it bounced back faster after some rain. Needless to say I am ecstatic & would like to say that the VA Green program (treatment, aeration, deep watering) definitely contributed to this. I also like the fact that they pick up the fone & talk to you about your individual needs without up-sell & scare tactics. That to me means a lot.

Our lawn looks outstanding. I spent years trying to get my lawn lush and weed free and Virginia Green has been able to accomplish this in only their second year in servicing our lawn. They are professional, courteous, informative and responsive.

The work has been great. They kept my yard green even during the winter. It is not quite up to where I would like it to be right now but they have done a fantastic job considering that the previous people had damaged my yard that they really had a big job to do. They charge $45.00 but they actually only come out seven times a year so really, the price is not that much different and I'd rather have somebody come out seven times and actually do the job than somebody come out every single month and not do the job. There is only one issue. My wife had tried to contact them about tree issue up there and they didn't get back to us immediately and then my wife once again followed up hoping they're actually going to contact us back but it is a bit odd to contact somebody about more services you don't usually get contacted for it. It's not a huge issue but it was the only drawback.

Just fine. This was treatment #3. I was not home for the treatment. But yard looks great.

It went really well. They answered all our questions up front, and gave us lots of helpful tips. We like that there is no contract, even though we plan on following through with all the treatment steps. They showed up when they said they would, were very fast and efficient, and left us pretty detailed notes on the problem weeds we have and what we needed to do to get them under control.

I have used Virginia Green Lawn Care to fertilize and treat my yard since spring 2012. They have always been prompt and professional. My lawn is probably the best looking on my block primarily because of the treatment provided by Va. Green (well, I will take credit for cutting at the proper height). They are responsive if I have an issue with weeds in a certain area or of a specific type. One thing that I really appreciate is that they do not aggressively sell you. The last company that I used constantly called me to try and sell additional services, which is one reason I left them.

I looked them up on Angie's List. We just started using them but they're good.

I didn't really like the job Virginia Green Lawn Care did in taking care of my lawn. They technician came out and he sprayed my fence and my grass because my fence had some discoloring. I didn't like that he sprayed something chemical on my property. I went back to another company I had used before. I didn't see an improvement in my grass after they came out. It just didn't work for me. The technician doing the work wasn't all that professional to me.

They come out every 4-6 weeks and spray various fertilizers based on the time of year. My lawn has maintained a nice dark green color all year long thanks to Virginia Green. The lawn technician always calls the day before to let me know when they are coming out. Very professional and I will continue to use them in the future.

They do a fabulous job. We use them every month. Their price depends on how many treatment you need, and they have several different levels that you can purchase, but the basic lawn service is approximately $35 a month. That is not year round; that is just in the month that they actually do something. They actually treat your entire lawn unlike Scott’s. When they aerate, they do not tear your lawn into all the pieces like Scott’s did. If there is a problem, they come out and fix it immediately. They are very ethical and knowledgeable. So, the lawns that they take care in our neighborhood are the best looking lawns. They know their science of lawn care. They are prompt; they come when they say they are going to come. They tell you how to do your part to keep your yard looking great. When you contract with them, you basically do not have to do any of that hard work anymore other than just mowing your lawn, and it looks great. They are a little pricier than probably doing it yourself, but for anybody ever fifty, it probably pays for itself.

They were very professional. Always called 1 or 2 days before coming out, to let us know they would be here. The grass we had looked good, BUT THE WEEDS THRIVED AS WELL! The main reason we signed up with Virginia Green, is because they have a great reputation and we were having trouble with some bad grass seed. It was taking over our yard. THEY COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM! I'M SORRY to disparage the company. We have a yard with lots of shade, so it makes it harder to grow grass in the summer etc. BUT THEY NEVER WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO DO ANY BASIC RESEARCH on this problem grass we had in our yard. So the problem continued. We cancelled their service, because we didn't hire them to maintain the status quo. We had a problem that needed to be fixed. I looked on Angie's List for another lawn care company to try. I found Charlie Seahy at the top of the list. Charlie is a one man company who took the time to talk with his Turf guy about the problem grass we had. He emailed me about his research more than once!! Together we came up with a plan to kill off this bad grass. Charlie's plan worked!! Charlie doesn't have a fancy 12 month plan that you sign up for, he does your basic aerate, fertilize and lime in the fall and HE HELPS YOU WITH PROBLEM AREAS in your yard. I consider Virginia Green to be JUST ANOTHER "STATUS QUO" lawn care service. If you don't have problem areas in your yard, Viriginia Green will work just fine for you and they will do a good job. But if you have problem areas, they do not have any experts on their staff to help you and they will not do any research for you.

He was here for the estimate at the expected time, gave me an accurate quote right on the spot, and scheduled our first service and seed application for early October. They've always come when promised, and I've been very pleased.

They are professional and very courteous! There were leaves on my yard, and the technician cleared them before putting the application...Wow
