In my first experience with a major home improvement project I could not have asked for a better flooring contractor. Scott Davis is meticulous, straightforward, and professional. Not only did he do the job for which we had originally hired him but he provided an incredibly cost conscious alternative for some repairs to the family room floor caused by other careless contractors and did an amazing job. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Davis to anyone.

With his extremely busy schedule, it was definitely worth the wait. Scott's Hardwood Flooring did an absolute fantastic job. Better than the original !! We would highly recommend him to anybody needing floors refinished. You can tell that Scott takes pride in a job well done !

Scott came out and gave me an estimate. He showed up exactly when he said he would. His estimate seemed completely fair to me and Scott seemed so professional and knowledgeable that for the first time in my life I did not even bother to get a second estimate. I hired him right on the spot. They came out on the scheduled date to do the work and arrived exactly to the minute when they said they would be there. The crew was so fast and efficient that before I could get my keys and get out of the house they had the cabinets taped off and were hanging tarps to keep the dust out of other rooms. Another couple of minutes and they would have had the machines on and running. It was a very smooth operation and Scott let me know exactly what was going on. He contacted me at every step of the process to let me know exactly what to expect next. I had some problems with my cherry wood floors that had nothing to do with Scott. He was so kind to go above and beyond and he would not stop working on the floors until they were perfect. He takes such pride in his work that I was very touched. My floors are stunning and I could not be happier. They look absolutely brand new. Scott is a great guy with a wonderful crew. I absolutely give them my highest recommendation possible. Your search for the best hardwood flooring company is over. Every aspect of the job went smoothly from the initial appointment for an estimate to the final walk through. They were prompt, thorough, courteous and professional in every way. The only thing to not like is having to wait for your turn in their schedule but your patience will be rewarded many times over.

The only caution I would have is either to have an alternative place to stay or wait for warmer weather. I stayed in my home to be with pets and it was a quite smelly. But I feel the results outweighed a few days of discomfort.

The entire experience was excellent.......Scott provided an estimate that was very competitive. He scheduled a start and finish date with us, executed the work as contracted and the result was excellent. We have done many a hardwood floor in our day and this ranked among the best experiences start to finish. I would use Scott again in a heartbeat.

I contacted Scott for an estimate which he was able to provide promptly. He gave me a very reasonable estimate for all the work, explained exactly what would be involved and when he could do it. Everything was done as described. He did an excellent job, the floors look great and there was very little dust left. I was very pleased.

Scott returned my calls, arrived for the estimate on time, offered a money saving solution for our stairs (finishing existing pine treads in place versus new oak treads ~$2000 price difference), followed up to ensure the wood was delivered on time (a week before the install), installed on time and to the agreed upon price. Oak floor looks great and pine treads on stairs turned out well.

We thought we could live with the floors in the house we just bought until we did the final walkthrough the day of closing, when all the furniture and rugs were finally gone. Yuck. But we didn't have much time before moving in. So we started calling around.By some miracle, a couple of scheduled jobs fell through for Scott so he had time to do this project for us almost immediately. He was great to deal with. Explained everything clearly, gave us a written estimate on the spot right after looking it over. We got another estimate, too, which was slightly cheaper, but for 2 coats of poly instead of the 3 Scott put on. They came and did the work efficiently, cleaned up after themselves very nicely. We are very pleased, and would definitely recommend Scott to anyone we know who needs floors refinished.

Scott came in and was very thorough explaining the process, which was new to me.The time involved is extensive, but that's just how it goes with this kind of project. They started and finished exactly when they said they would, and was always at my house at the time we agreed on.The floors look outstanding. I don't want to put anything on them now for fear of scratching and dinging them up again.What was really nice were the extra touches - the new quarter round stained and installed around the walls and in front of the doors... staining and finishing the trim at the base of the hearth... and I am having a very hard time finding any dust from the sanding. Everything looks great.

We just bought our home and the floors were a total mess... badly stained and smelled of cat urine and cigarette smoke. The floors had not been maintained in nearly 40 years. We called Scott after we read reviews on Angie's List. From the very first contact he has been professional and timely. He finished the floors a day before he said he would. We gave him a key to the house so he could come in and out on his own. He always left the house tidy and clean in between visits. Scott was able to get out the majority of the stains -- more than our realtor thought was possible. He also explained the best way to take care of the floors from here on out. At the end of the job he scheduled a walk through with us to make sure we were satisfied. He is honest and genuine. You will not regret hiring Scott for your floors.

He the only contractor that suggested not using finished wood so that the floor would match the wood floor that had been installed 35 years ago. Installation looks great, the staining of the new floor is a very good match to the old floor that is in the adjoining room. Steve is very busy so you have to wait for you job to get done, but it is worth it.

Salesman was very nice and professional and wanted to work with me. He did lower the cost by $1000.00.

He is probably the best floor sander in Richmond and I would tell others the same. I have used his services a number of times. He gives you an estimate of what it is going to be and he finishes the work. He does a good job and shows up on time as well. I would use his services in the future too.

Excellent. Scott performed a free estimate months in advance and let me know he generally schedules work a month out. One month out we contacted him and scheduled our week. Scott was very clear how long the job would take, what we needed to do to get ready (moving furniture/appliances) and what we needed to do after the job was done. The floors look outstanding and our house was left in as good a condition as when he left. Scott also replaced a busted threshold board stained to match the floor.

They were respectful and well organized in getting my floor in. They showed up on time and the lady who took our service call couldn't have been any sweeter. Everyone at Scotts flooring company was great.
