My husband and I interviewed numerous contractors to replace old siding for my son's large home.( over 4,000 sq feet). My husband is an engineer so details are important. Once we decided on Professional Home Services, we then met with Mike Gunderson again for a total of two hours or more to review and discuss every detail before signing the contract. In no time at all, we were blown away by how particular and precise his workmanship was. In our opinion, he is probably the best contractor for Hardie plank siding in the Richmond area. Because our house had a lot of rot, he made sure that this was addressed ahead of time and worked hard to deal with the problem areas. Mike was always courteous and never smug about his expertise. He welcomed and encouraged our input and concerns. Mike wanted us happy and seemed to enjoy doing the best job possible. He truly takes pride in his detailed workmanship. We could not have been happier when we handed over the check. It was money well spent and he deserved every penny. The house looked like a brand new home and even the neighborhood was impressed with this workmanship. We will definitely use him again and feel very lucky to have chosen his business over contractor whose proposal came in higher. We will definitely use him again.

Michael was punctual and professional as was his team. He carefully explained options but did not try to influence my decision. Job was completed quickly and was well done. Windows fit beautifully and look great. All debris was removed. Very happy with this experience. Will definitely use Professional Home Services in the future.

All work performed in a satisfactory manner; company management followed-up to check on the progress and my happiness with the work. Original windows on 25+-year-old house - - several badly rotted wooden sills and moldings; others just needed minor repair work. All work done professionally and within the time frame of the Angie's List deal.

He is awesome. I like what he had offered and I felt that he has high standards. I trusted him and I felt like what he said is what he would really deliver. He contact me constantly to make sure that he was ordering the right thing and that I would be satisfied. He had a surgery on his eyes and was unable to get here but he called his workers and me many times during the day to see if everything is going to be on schedule. He also called me that night to see if I'm satisfied or if I have any questions. I like the window and I will highly recommend him. His price is very competitive and he is just remarkable.

Professional Home Services they are good. I get a good deal when I get it from you. I got them just like themselves, they charged me the regular rate now. I get a good deal if I get it from you, if I get for my self, I say I have an extra job it's going to be a regular job in writing. I think that's what I was doing. They did a good job. They were fast and professional. The boss came and started talking to me about what he was going to do. He would discuss it, they were professional. They came out last year. I spent like $1000. They said it wasn't covered because it was a rotten window sill.

Professional Home Services' price was reasonable and competitive, I was really impressed with the quality of the work, and they did the entire roof in one day because they were prepared. They were very professional, knew exactly what they were doing, they cleaned up including picking up any nails with a magnet, and when they were done you couldn't even tell they were in my yard. They went up in the attic to vacuum up the dust. They followed up with us to make sure there were no leaks.

They did such a great job with the woodwork that I had them paint the bathroom, replace the electric fixtures, and install a new sink as well. All this work was done quickly and expertly. It seems there was nothing they couldn't do. I will definitely call them again.

Michael came out and gave an estimate for the work to be done that included some man hours purchased using an Angie's List Big Deal. He was friendly and professional. We contracted to have the work completed - the work was scheduled and communication was flawless. The workers arrived on time and all went very smoothly. All in all it was an excellent experience - very good quality work accompanied by an extremely professional and friendly attitude! I am extremely pleased!

Mike came to our house to give us his "presentation" about his company, history, and product. We were very impressed. The windows were exactly what we were looking for with the vinyl replacement, easy to use and clean without the price tag of similar competitors The team of two guys came to the house around 9 on a Thursday, along with Mike they got to work and everything went smoothly. They even replaced rotting wood on the outside of our house before sealing everything up. They cleaned up everything, inside and out and our windows look fantastic. The crew that came to our house were very nice and Mike was great to work with.

Professional Home Services (PHS) recently replaced all windows in our home--because of their outstanding work, we hired them without hesitation to replace our roof! Mike came to our home, climbed on the roof to make an assessment of any repairs needed, took measurements and sat down with us to go over the roof replacement estimate. After explaining to us exactly what materials were needed, how the roof replacement process would unfold, the time frame expected and the cost, we immediately signed the contract! On December 6, 2012, around 11 a.m. the PHS "roofing team" arrived at our home, introductions were made and the team got right to work! The group of guys attacked the roof with such precision! Being an educator, I know what constitutes a great team. . .and this certainly was one of the finest I have seen. Not a minute was wasted--each person skillfully carried out their responsibilities with ease and respect for the surroundings. Each supported the other without question or confusion, and were very organized throughout the entire project. With a break for lunch, this remarkable team removed all old shingles and felt paper, finished the roof, tore down, packed up, cleaned debris and thoroughly picked up stray nails with the magnet roller in a matter of five hours--amazing! (Mike even asked to come back the following day just to make sure all the nails were picked up; though we didn't need him to, the gesture was much appreciated!) The following is a summary of what was accomplished: 1. All old shingles and felt paper were removed. All plywood was inspected and replaced where needed. Two parts of the roof needed repair due to rotten wood (one area more than the other)--Mike had pictures taken so I was able to share with my husband the areas of reconstruction that took place. 2. New ice and water shield was furnished and installed in all the valleys and on the rakes and eaves. New 15 pound UL felt paper was furnished and installed along with new pipe collars and flashing where needed. 3. Brown drip cap was put in place first before the ice and water shield was laid--as requested. They used the drip cap my husband and I had already purchased. 4. Seventeen squares of new Owens Corning lifetime architectural shingles were furnished and installed to the entire roof--color was Estate Grey. 5. All work related debris was removed and a roller magnet was used to pick up stray nails. 6. A thorough inspection was done by Mike. The cleanup was ongoing throughout the project--so after the last shingle was placed, the last ladder taken down and loaded, the last of the tools cleaned and put away, and the final inspection completed, the team together drove off waving and smiling back at a very thankful and satisfied customer!!! Mike stayed back, of course, to answer any questions or address any concerns (we had none) and to finalize the remaining balance of our contract. Smooth as silk...just as it should be! PHS has met every expectation, and we will contract with them in the future when the need arises. Do not hesitate to give Professional Home Services a call. You'll be glad you did!

When I called the company, I had a quick response from Mike Gundersen and he came out that day. He explained everything in detail to me and was very professional He came out often to see how the job was going.. I felt very comfortable with him because there wasn"t any pressure. He's a great guy to listen to and I really enjoyed his company, . Everything went great !!. The guys were very helpful explaining things to me when I had questions. They always showed up right on time and stayed until the job was done. They worked very hard. They also repaired some problems that I had with the house roofiing. I really recomend them and I will use them for other repairs when they're needed. Thanks Mike and you guys.

A professional outfit from start to finish. They are the type of company that talks the talk and then actually walks the walk. They showed a great deal of respect for my job and property. They consistently outperformed my expectations. They don't mess around either. The job took less than three days. This was the biggest amount of money I had ever spent on my property at one time and they made it almost stress free. Believe all the other great Angie's List reviews you see for this company. Mike was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. He was timely with his estimate, and easily accessible by phone. While Mike made several suggestions for work, he didn't pressure me into extras. He was able to do the work at a time that suited me, and completed the work in a timely manner, especially as Hurrican Sandy was bearing down on the East Coast. His crew were polite and very neat. I was especially impressed with the thoroughness that his crew searched for stray nails in my yard and driveway. I'm a single woman, and construction is not my area of expertise, so it's easy for me to feel that I'm being taken advantage of. I had none of these qualms with Mike, he understood my concerns about my project budget, and worked with me to get the work down at a price I could afford. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his crew.

After calling one of the big name window companies and spending 3 hours in a high pressure sales presentation, we called Mike with Professional Home Services. Mike was a pleasant surprise. He showed up just a day or two after the initial call to give me an estimate. His presentation was short and to the point, he didn't rush but in a very friendly way got down to business. He looked around that house and figured up the estimate in less than a hour. On the day they started his guys were at our house on time and started work quickly. They completed the work in 2 days and Mike came by several time to make sure everything was going as smoothly as possible. The end result was a wonderful with 13 new windows wrapped with the aluminum trim. It really cleaned up the look of our house and I sure that our utility bills will benefit also. I plan on replaceing our gutters some time this spring and will not call anybody but Mike.

The PHS team arrived early in the morning to begin removing the old and inefficient windows in my townhouse. They installed five windows and a sliding glass door the first time, and they will replace a basement window and sliding glass door this time. Mike thoroughly explained how to clean the tilt windows to the customer and provided helpful written instructions for care and cleaning. The crew carefully cleaned up any debris around the job site after the installation was completed. Since the first window replacement, I quickly noticed that my townhouse is no longer drafty, and that I cannot hear the traffic noises from the road near my house. PHS offers color-match windows that are dark brown to match the exterior color and white on the interior to match the trim. They wrapped the wooden trim in vinyl to prevent heat loss in the winter and air conditioning loss in the summer, as well as providing a barrier to the cold and heat during those seasons. These windows and doors are so energy efficient, that my heating and cooling costs have dropped significantly.

The service was great. They were very thorough and discovered 2 small leaks that needed fixed. The workers were all very honest, and they honored the coupon. I would recommend them.

Overall, the project went well. There was a problem with the delivery of my windows which delayed the start of work on my house, and I didn't get a call in advance to notify me of the delay. Other than that, Mike was very good to work with; he is concerned with the quality of his team's work and with my satisfaction with the job. He coordinated his work with my house painter after the delay of the window delivery. Also, he went to Fredericksburg to get the specific front door that I wanted, and it looks great! The new windows are very nice... look good and easy to use. I've seen a small reduction in my power bill so far, but the weather's been pretty nice so I haven't had to run the AC or heat a lot yet. I would recommend Professional Home Services and I will use them again for roof replacement when its time to do that.

Mike had done work on this house several years ago. I had no hesitation in asking him to tackle this project. One roofing company wouldn't even touch it, and another quoted me $5,600 just for the roof. Mike's crew did an excellent job. I didn't decide to do the siding until they were nearly finished with the roof. They went ahead and took care of it the same day. While they were here, I requested Salvadore look at the basement steps. He managed to secure the landing, but found a more serious problem at the same time. He explained the structural issue, and suggested a sound plan of repair. That will be the next project! This is the company you can rely on to take care of your home.

The job was performed just as Michael described in his written estimate. The PHS team performed the services conscientiously, efficiently, and professionally. The job was completed in one day, and Michael was available to manage the well executed project. One picture window, however, constructed with too many panes, was shipped incorrectly from the manufacturer, but was quickly resolved by Michael--not his mistake. The appropriate glass insert was installed within days of receiving the correct one. The PHS crew appeared to follow all safety precautions and were very careful to make sure any valuables were not in harms way before work was started. Satisfaction guaranteed with Professional Home Services! We are now enjoying the FABULOUS windows, and my husband and I are currently awaiting from Michael an estimate to replace our roof!

I contacted Professional Home Services to replace seven windows in a townhouse. Mike responded promptly, met me at the property and gave me a reasonable estimate after looking at what I needed repaired and replaced. I was very impressed with his knowledge about the product he was using and his willingness to answer my questions. The windows were installed within time frame promised, and the installation workers were courteous and efficient. I am extremely pleased and plan to use Professional Home Services for my future home repair needs.

Mike and his guys did a good job on the trim and I was very satisfied with the job. I asked him to remove the shutters so I could paint them. Mike indicated I could call him to re-install the shutters. Initially we missed a phone connection. Once I contacted Mike, he was responsive and re-installed the shutters. Professional Home Services completed the trim installation and shutters in a good manner. I am pleased with this company.

Rick Ely was fantastic to work with. He came out and gave me an estimate in a timely manner, was easy to schedule with, and was willing to be flexible to meet my needs. We bought a house that had screens for the windows that had never been installed, and Rick and his team was able to install them all as well. Our house looks beautiful now. Thanks!

We went through an extensive search of the local companies advertising window replacement products and services. Our experiences ranged from pretty good to downright awful. Mike Gunderson and Professional Home Services was the only exception, and they are truly exceptional. Mike's initial meeting with us was quite remarkable because he not only stepped us carefully through the products he provides, he also inspected our existing windows and frames, and even made a small repair for us on the spot. I must comment on Mike's personal approach. He goes well beyond professionalism, exhibiting a genuine interest in his customers' needs and desires. With us he would not stop until he had found the perfect color match for the window trim. We never felt in the dark about any aspect of this job. He always promptly returned our calls, and was superb in meeting all of his commitments to us. The work was performed exactly on schedule, with the crew actually showing up early (how often does that happen?). They were very polite, and were careful to completely clean up before leaving. A significant structural defect was found in the removal of one window. Mike immediately contacted me and agreed to perform a repair for a very reasonable price. I never felt that any shortcuts were taken to reduce the time or materials used on the job at the expense of quality. This was easily the best experience we've had in the Richmond area in the last 20 years with any contractor we've done business with.

During the quoting process, Mike Gunderson was very friendly and never once tried to pressure us into buying anything. Mike and his team were very professional and hard working and even replaced some unexpected rotten wood AND hung a new ledger board for a future deck for us at no additional cost. The bill was dead on with his quote. He won't nickel and dime you. My wife and I had been wanting to replace our siding for a long time now and absolutely love the results. I would highly recommend Professional Home Services to anyone looking for an honest contractor who provides quality work.
