Had a delayed start on the job. We had dilemmas on both parties. The original start date was suppose to be August 15th but I received a call from his sister saying Marty would not be able to make it because he was in the hospital. I called the following Thursday and Marty answered the phone. He did not sound to good and I told him that we should wait. I wanted him to get better and plus we had a baby in the family coming. On the 24th I called and he sounded much healthier. We set up an appointment and he came on time. He did some work and was up and down the stairs and I helped out a lot with the process. He kept encouraging me to not help. They mentioned they were going to call and take all the stuff to GoodWill. His sister was trying to figure out who to call so I just stepped in and called places myself. We ended up just taking everything ourselves and dropping them off at a local GoodWill. They didn't seem to helpful with disposing of items and this was a little disappointing to us. We were to continue the work this morning and I have yet to hear from him. I have called and left several messages. I am afraid he might have gotten ill from all the manual labor yesterday. I understand if he is ill and can't do the work but I would just like someone to give me some information. I am not unhappy with Marty as a worker and he is great. I am just frustrated with the no response. I would just like a yes or no if he will be able to complete the job. I do not want to kill himself doing the job and would like an honest answer of yes or no. If not I would like to hire someone else. Marty did a good job, he was professional and he was not aggresive about getting rid of certain items. He was friendly to what I wanted to save.
Description of Work: I hired him to do some decluttering.

Response from OC Staging & Redesign
Yes, We were having a slight struggle back then with my health, (ruptured brain aneurysm and a bacterial blood infection) inwhich I had a full recovery. Certainly enjoyed these folks! The member should have stepped aside and let me do the job but as she being a kind compassionate Nurse she was willing to work herself to death while I sat back now and again. When I deal with a Type A personality with an overload of belongings and a love for each item, I tread lightly. Not being a psychologist all I can do is let my client lead. Honestly, at this time I could not make heads or tails of this extreme situation! Still, it would have been a pleasure to take over and let me do my job. Personally moved a bookshelf to clean behind and moved a plastic bag of bookmarks and was made to feel very guilty and I new at that moment client would be in the lead for the remainder of this job. The members were very kind and understanding. I still wish they had let me complete the task and do things my way.

Overall, the whole experience exceeded my expectations. The cost was extremely reasonable, considering the phenomenal end result, and the professional and respectful manner in which we were treated (along with our "average" furnishings) was terrific! Marty and his staff spent many more hours than we expected at our house- and the cost was still extremely reasonable. The end result- we had our first Open House on Sunday, and we had a contract within 2 days - even though it was August, and the prime selling time was winding down. We sold the house to a nice family and closed in September. We decided we wanted to enjoy our new house from the very start, so we hired O C Staging to come to our new home when the movers arrived, so he could supervise the placement of the rugs and heavy furniture. Then he came out for a few hours everyday for about a week and helped us unpack and hang pictures, place lamps, arrange bookcases, and everything! Our new house looked amazing after only a week! No boxes or moving stuff all over the house. It looked like we had been living there for a couple of months! I wish I had known about OC Staging when we moved into our old house 7 years ago ! I have pictures of the house we sold and pictures of the new house- all staged by OC Staging. I am happy to share with anyone interested.
Description of Work: We were putting our house up for sale and wanted it to look as good as possible- but we did not want to invest a great deal of money in redecorating and buying new furnishings. We wanted to make the best use of what we had. OC Staging was phenomenal! Martin Crowder came in and treated us and our furnishings in a gracious and respectful manner. We did not have Ethan Allen furniture, or expensive oriental rugs, or museum quality art, but Marty made us feel that our stuff was just fine (some of it was "great"!) He and his staff re-arranged our furnishings, rugs, pictures, lamps, and everything else and transformed our interior from "okay" to "Awesome!" He even brought in some of his own pictures, lamps, rugs, art, and decorator items from his own decorater inventory to enhance what we had. We did get some new lamps and a couple of inexpensive rugs (which we use at our new home). We were going to replace all the kitchen hardware ( cabinet knobs & handles) from brass to "nickel" for a more updated look. Each nickel handle cost about $9 each, and we needed 40 ! (40 x $9 = $360 !) (But Marty had a great idea to save money. He personally removed each cabinet handle and took all 40 of them to his home, where he spray painted each one to a beautiful nickel finish. Then he brought them all back and personally installed each and every one. The cost? About 2 cans of spray paint-- and NOT $ 360 ! We had a very dated built-in formica counter top in the dining room. It was "Harvest Gold". We never knew quite what to do with it, except maybe replace it with granite. Marty completely re-worked and re-painted the countertop with special chemicals& paint to transform it to a lovely cream color which blended perfectly with the built-in buffet and other built-in cabinetry. I did not know you could do anything with Harvest Gold Formica except rip it out before someone sees it ! We did re-paint some rooms so they looked fresh, but we had a great painter who did a wonderful job. When we had an "Open House", Marty came at 8:00 am on a Sunday to help us "tweak" the house to perfection. ( The Open House was at 1:00 pm). He even stopped to shop for us on the way over, bringing some nicer planters and a nicer lampshade, along with fresh flowers for the sunroom! The house looked amazing - I would not have thought to move the living room furniture to the sunroom - It looked so much better! We got a contract from an Open House visitor within 2 days and sold the house to them! Marty even had a cleaning person who came to help clean the house so everything sparkled. The house looked so much better, we wanted to live in it longer to enjoy it !!
