Jacob's Ladder Siding Roofing Windows Painting

It was a big job on and old house and they did a really great job. They were professional and pleasant to work with.

Initial contact was very positive. I received a quote from Jacob's Ladder. After comparing it with a quote from another vendor, I decided to go with Jacob's Ladder. After refining the work to be done, I signed a contract. They explained that if prep work was done properly I should expect to get several years out of this exterior paint. Mine was a small job and they worked it in pretty quickly. A single worker came to do the painting. He was friendly and seemed knowledgeable, but did not seem to have any of the info from my discussions with the person quoting the work. I had to point out each thing that was specified in the contract and check to make sure things were done. In discussions with the worker it came out that he had previously worked for Jacob's Ladder but now had his own business and only worked for them on occasion when they had subbed work out to him. Overall the work seemed acceptable at the time. But I resisted providing an initial review. Six months later, I'm finding places where the paint is already peeling and chipping. So, while initially satisfied, though disappointed that Jacob's Ladder subbed the work out to another contractor, I wouldn't hire them again.

The home my wife & I had recently purchased in Ashland was in dire need of updates. I meet with Justin of Jacob's Ladder, as one of several contractors we had chosen from Angie's List, to solicit a bid for the replacement of 21 windows.Justin was very knowledgable & professional in his presentation, laying out the time frame from the window mfg to the actual installation. The quotes we had obtained were all in the same vicinity so we made the decision to proceed with Jabob's Ladder on the basis of our trust in Justin. The entire process progressed just as outlined. On installation day, 5 workers appeared on time and installed all 21 windows, as well as a door we had decided to replace as well. Their craftsmanship was outstanding, and the premises was devoid of any construction debris. I was extremely pleased with the job from start to finish and would certainly use this firm again for any additional services I might require in the future.

They were just very good. I'll call them back if I need them. I was very pleased.

It was not easy to find someone to talk to. Their business phone is answered by an answering service that sometimes didn't follow through with messages. Having a stakeholder answer the phone and direct calls would be much more professional. I would suggest more direct access to the principals. Overall, however, I was very pleased.

It went well. They did what we agreed to and did a good job. They were prompt and worked quickly. There was one mix-up on paint colors, but they corrected it without hesitation.

Justin came over and did the estimate right when he said he would. He was very courteous and helpful when asking us what we were looking to have done. He provided a very thorough and detailed estimate of the carpentry work to be done and the painting work to be done on separate quotes. We agreed to their quotes, and then worked on setting up times for the work to be done. Mother Nature was not helpful, and we had at least a week full of solid rain before they could start. Reagan Bisherat was our main contact for both the carpentry and the painting work. He is very easy to work with- we could email, call, or text him if we needed to reach him. They worked first on power washing the house and then replacing bad siding we had with Hardie Plank. They also replaced bad trim we had using PVC plastic. They custom cut the pieces to match the rest of the home beautifully. Netti (spelling?) and his crew were also meticulous in cleaning up the yard every day before leaving. They also removed our old galvanized steel gutters at no extra charge (we had new ones installed by another company after Jacob's Ladder was finished)! Besides replacing the bad siding and installing the doors, they totally prepped the house, sanding and caulking everything nicely. The painting crew came after the carpentry crew was finished. Manuel leads the crew and was wonderful to work with. They used Sherwin-Williams Duration exterior paint- pricier than most paints, but it really looks great on the home and has extra durability. No spray on paint here- all of the home was done with hand brushed paint. Takes several days but is well worth! After the main work was all done, Reagan came by and we went over a few things that needed touch up- Manuel and his crew were back to finish that up the next day. Jacob's Ladder did really nice work for us. If you are looking for quality work we can highly recommend them. Our home looks so nice now!

We originally contracted another company (who had previously repainted the entire interior of our house) to repaint the exterior. They in turn subcontracted the carpentry to replace damaged siding, etc., to Jacob's Ladder. However, due to staffing issues with the primary contractor, Jacob's Ladder ended up doing the entire job, including all the painting. Reagan at Jacob's Ladder oversaw the entire project, and he and his team were all outstanding. Their carpentry work was beautiful, they cleaned everything up every day before leaving, and the entire job was completed very quickly despite the switch in the company doing the actual painting. In addition, the painters were extremely careful about not damaging exterior plants close to the house. Everyone we dealt with was very professional. Overall, we were completely satisfied with the experience, and our house looks beautiful!

The Jacob's Ladder crew did an excellent job. They were neat, professional, punctual, diligent and thorough. I highly recommend them.

2 words: Fantastic Service Jacob's Ladder (JL) did a great job all the way. From the initial proposal, which included many color and vinyl options, to the final pickup of the trash disposal - Justin communicated almost every day. Justin appeared at the home and ensured the work was being completed to our 100% satisfaction. The workers were polite and considerate. They were also very hard working, my wife and I were amazed at how little they actually stopped working! My wife and I "struggled" a bit visualizing the color options; when we narrowed it down to a few, Justin found nearby (within 20 miles) other homes with the same colors we were evaluating - that was very helpful. We drove by and got to see what the house would look like "finished". The same thing with the bead/semi-bead - it was just nice to see what it looked like installed somewhere else. The detail work was done very well. The window trim wood rot was replaced before being wrapped in aluminium. Just looks SO much better. The short answer: Justin communicates very well, the work was completed as communicated, the work was well done, and my wife and I could not be happier. We've had a number of neighbors "replace" their siding with some low-cost contractors. They simply nailed 1/2 insulated foam board over the existing exterior and nailed the vinyl to that. We know we paid more than they did, but we're not wondering if we made the right decision - we KNOW we did. Angies list sent me to Jacob's Ladder - and I agree. A+ in my book.

Representatives were on time, pleasant, and knowledgeable about the paint products they used and requirements for our job. They were able to work with us regarding scheduling as well as providing our selected color for the shutters (porch and lamp post were white). When the scheduled paint day arrived, the painters arrived on time and got to work. However, it started to rain and we mutually decided it would be better to hold off a day. They returned the next day and completed everything. It all looks wonderful! The representatives and the painters were professional and pleasant to work with. We believe that the cost was quite reasonable considering the scope of work and the materials they provided. We are very pleased and will look to Jacob's Ladder for future painting projects.

There were six painters for two days plus two painters for one day of pressure washing. They were on time and worked the entire day. The painters were professional and friendly. The cleaned the areas after each workday. We were very pleased with people and their work. The end result was that it cost about $40 per man-hour which we considered very reasonable.

I contacted Jacob's Ladder based on the Angie's List reviews. My call was answered promptly by a live person who scheduled an appointment for them to evaluate the job and provide an estimate. Reagan arrived exactly on time and submitted a fully explained written estimate in less than 24 hours. The estimate included a price for powerwashing. When I expressed that I preferred to use Action Power Wash, they were amenable to scheduling their visit based upon getting the house and porch cleaned before they came onsite. Prior to having the work done, I dreaded looking at my front porch and the rotted door jams on the backdoor. Reagan kept me apprised of everything and contacted me to let me know that the chemical stripping of the original porch was not working. He fully explained what they would be doing to resolve the issue and to make sure that I was okay with the changes. The porch is beautiful, so whatever they did worked just fine. The back door jams had rotted on the lower portion of each side, so they removed the rotted wood and replaced the area with PVC and it looks better than new. Jacob's Ladder was very professional throughout the job which I felt was completed within a reasonable time frame. They did a great job and I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing carpentry or painting. I will definitely contact them for future work. While other reviewers have indicated that their prices are higher, I felt the price was fair and that I received exceptional service for the price paid.

Provided a thorough quote. Provided all necessary documentation to make an informed decision. They were, unfortunately, the highest quote we received. We did not pick the lowest either but they were significantly higher than the next lowest bid. I would definitely have them out again for an estimate. They were quite knowledgeable and thorough.

Jacob's Ladder recently completed a painting, carpentry and structural damage job at my home. I was greatly impressed by their professionalism. timeliness, courteous manner, work ethic and dedication to customer satisfaction. Justin thoroughly inspected the house and gave me an extremely detailed quote covering all items. The painters were always on time and stayed until the job was complete. They returned upon the project manager's request to touch up several items and insure that the job was satisfactorily completed. The project manager, Reagan, was extremely professional, timely and courteous throughout the process. His expertise, coupled with his professional manner, was greatly appreciated. I was especially impressed when a major band board problem was uncovered and Reagan immediately formulated a plan to fix the problem and advise me of the solution. Glen did the majority of the work on the deck, siding repair and band board problem and was a pleasure to deal with. He was always early and made it a point to explain each of his actions and solutions. He did so in terms that I could understand. He explained the various possible solutions to a problem and why he was proceeding in the manner he was. He worked on the house like it was his own. The result was a very professional job beyond my expectations.

At this point, I just don’t know when I am going to be able to afford doing the exterior painting. I really like Jacob's Ladder. I have got other estimates from people that aren’t on Angie's List. Justin came out; he was a nice, young man. We walked around the house. My problem is not just painting; I need to have a lot of siding replaced. So that's where it is getting into great expense. We went around and looked at all the siding. That's really the main difference I have been having with the estimates. A lot of people that just want the work and don’t really want the job. They may be unable to do a great job or they underestimate how many pieces of siding need to be replaced. Justin did a real thorough job. We talked about all the different end caps and siding that needed to be replaced. I told him where I had already researched and where I had already found the siding in a couple of places because it's not stock siding. It's not vinyl siding; its T11 siding. He was really nice. It might have been a Thursday or Friday; he told me that it might be Monday before he would have the estimate emailed to me. I think that he actually sent it to me much sooner than that; it was either Friday night or Saturday morning. So it was several days early. He did follow-up afterwards to make sure that I had gotten it. He followed up several weeks later to see what I was thinking about it. I told him at that point that I was waiting for some other estimates. It has been a hard job getting anybody to estimate; not the painting part but the siding part. It has really entailed a lot more money than we were planning to put into it at this point for the siding.

Predictable....no issues. Just expensive.

The work was done with great care, and on time. The paint selected for the siding was a match and only one coat was needed of Sherwin Williams Duration. The white trim needed 2 coats , and the shutters and door in red were painted 3 times. The ceiling on the front porch was painted too which wasn't in the contract. The workers were polite and let me know of any concerns while on the job. They cleaned up all debris and did all that was asked. I could not have asked for better service. I trusted the reviews for this company on Angie's list and was not disappointed.

I called once, got an answering service, very polite, left info that I was looking for a paint job and they said someone would get back to me, but no one did. Called a couple of days later, same thing, told the answering service I did not get called back, they quickly found my first message, apologized for Jacob's Ladder, and said they would pass on the info again. Nothing. Called once again and got the answering service and just hung up. Life is too short to track someone down to discuss a job opportunity for them.

They were prompt, professional, and organized. The manager of the group was on the site each day to check on progress.

The response time for the initial quote was very quick. We had good communication with the project coordinator. The colors came out looking just the way we hoped. The crew on site was efficient and very professional. On the plus side, they did a great job of properly priming all the new siding I had on the house, which was quite a bit. The applied all the stain by hand, which I prefer. My neighbor gets it done with a sprayer and it always seems too thin and doesn't seem to last as long. There was no mess of any kind before, during or after the job. The only concern I had, and perhaps this was my own fault for not clarifying ahead of time, was some of the caulking on the older cedar siding. I had assumed that when caulking was included in the quote, they would take care of any gaps in the siding that can happen as the cedar dries over time. While they did caulk all the trim pieces and edges, they didn't do the siding in between. Maybe I just assumed that and needed to spell it out. But that was my only criticism of the job. I would certainly use them again, I would just be clearer on my expectations.

I'm giving them an A because of the quality of workmanship of the actual painters, but without their lead painter, it would probably be a B+ rating. Project Mgr., Justin P, was prompt and came to give quote, reviewed the project and my special requests. Very personable and accomodating though not as knowldegable about painting and prep products as some. He forgot to specify some of the terms and kept having to modify the contract, but was very accomodating. I have done several large scale exterior painting projects, but a less knowledgeable client might not know what to specify. I had requested a detailed description of the scope of work and products to be used, and the separate window quote. Also Included worker's comp. warranty and cleaning instructions, as well as "start date'. He provided several references which checked out positively and Jacob's Ladder was the lowest of four bids. jacob's Ladder uses Sherwin Williams Duration. Powerwash was fine and the owner was very pleasant, though not as complete as another pre-paint powerwash I had done on two other houses. Others helped to blast off some flaky paint, lightly spray cleaned all the windows and cleaned the walkway and sidewalk. Two man painting crew was excellent, especially Oscar who really cared about the quality of the work, and had excellent attention to detail. ALERT: Oscar has left the company and that is very problematic. I'm not sure how I would predict the quality of future jobs. He was the essential element, and willing to do heat gun that I had not previously specified. I have the impression that the "management" are not experienced painters and this was a source of frustration for workers re: timeframes, etc. Minor touch up has not happened. I withheld 5%, but have not seen them in over 6 weeks.

It couldn't have gone any better! They were professional and cleaned up after themselves.
