If 5 stars is the best they could get I would give them that. They have a great price and did what they said the were going to do in the time they said they were going to do it.

I had Jacob's ladder install new vinyl siding on my 2 story colonial. I'm a very particular person, and I do a lot of research before committing to anything. After 7 estimates (Jacob's being my final estimate) I decided to go with them. I absolutely thought that I was getting the most for my money with them. The owner Seth came to my house to perform the estimate. He explained everything in detail, and offered several suggestions on repairing a few issues with the exterior. They scheduled my work for 6 weeks post offer acceptance, and ended up being able to start after 3 weeks!!! The crew that worked on the house was extremely diligent, and worked very hard. At the end of every day the workers had cleaned up so well I couldn't even find so much as a sliver of trim coil! The finished product is absolutely amazing. They even offered to come out after the job was done, and swap my doorbell for me (which involved removing a small piece of siding, and reattaching). Thanks Seth and crew for a JOB WELL DONE, and i'll be sure to call on you guys if I need anything done to the exterior going forward!

We were most pleased with the work performed by Jacob's Ladder employees. They were very punctual and stayed late (past 5 p.m.) on most days. They worked the entire time-no breaks, no cell phone use, etc. The crew foreman was very obliging to our wishes on every item. I purchases new light fixtures for outside and they installed at no extra charge. I would highly recommend this firm. Quality work and quality folks.
Description of Work: Jacob's Ladder removed old siding, replaced with sheathing barrier, new siding, some new guttering, new gutter gards. The brought dumpster to work site and hauled away old siding. They removed 9 old windows and installed new.. All trim boards, fascia boards, and porch ceiling were wrapped in vinyl.

I cannot say enough good things about Jacob's Ladder. They sent someone the week before the paint job to power wash my house then they came to paint the next week. We had some rain delays but someone always kept in touch by either email or phone so I would know what was going on. They arrived with a crew of men and went right to it. The men worked steadily all day long with only time off for lunch and completed the job in one day! I was amazed. The guys were all very nice and answered any questions that I thought of that day. Reagan came by a few days later and checked the job with me. There were a few places that needed some attention so he came back the next morning with some help and fixed everything I pointed out, which was not much. Then they went around the house and touched up places that he felt needed some extra tweaking. When they left there was absolutely no trace of them left behind. Clean, neat, quick, and a fair price. Great job! I had no idea how "tired" my house looked but when they were done it sparkled! I would hire them again in a heartbeat and recommend them also.

Jacob's Ladder first power washed my house then on another day two workers arrived promptly and began replacing the damaged beaded masonite siding and all rotted trim. Once all the damaged pieces were replaced they began painting the house with a third employee. They also replaced two hand rails on the front porch steps and a couple of pickets on the front porch. Over the several days that the work was being done the workers arrived promptly, worked very hard and were very considerate of the landscaping around the house. They took care to use drop cloths when working on the porch and the lower windows which I really appreciated. Every day they would clean up the site. Jacob's Ladder did an excellent job at my home and I would definitely hire them again!

Reagan and his team did a really nice job. They were attentive to details and didn't hesitate to point out issues that weren't covered in the initial estimate. I think that it was a bigger job than they had anticipated, but they did it cheerfully and professionally. If we had a minor complaint, they fixed it without question.

While the work was done adequately, the experience was terrible. They subcontract all the work. They did not show up numerous days they said they were going to and we were very frustrated with back and forth emails trying to get them to come back out and complete the job. While the carpenter and his sons were here working they let it slip that the reason they didn?t show up one of the days is that one of the sons wouldn?t get out of bed. They did reimburse us for 2 days of doggie day care since we had to send 2 of our dogs there when they were working on the deck but the experience did not make up for it. They were slow to get the work started which they said was a result of the special order triple door we needed. But the job which we were told would be a 3 day job, dragged on for weeks. The reason we had a ramp installed on the back deck was for our senior dogs. My husband who initially met with one person about the project and I who met with the ?project manager? (only once the entire job and this was before the project started) insisted that the storm door which contains the ?doggie door? be reinstalled after the triple door replacement. When the carpenter finished installing the door I asked him to reattach it as it was in the trash pile. He told me it could not be reattached and the ?project manager? told me the same thing. They also insisted we never said prior that we needed it reattached. They said they knew another contractor who could attach it but it would be another $230. We had no choice as we needed this door so we had to pay this additional cost to have our own door reattached. Also, our estimate/agreement stated that they would pick up at the end of each day and a thorough cleaning done at the end of the job. This did not happen. When the carpenters worked they repeatedly left nails, staples, screws ? some sticking straight up and cigarette butts on the deck and ground. When they removed our stairs they left them in a pile just to the right of the ramp so the dogs could not go out to the main part of the yard. When they were completely done, they left all the paint scrapings on the ground along with labels, wood scraps, nails, etc. My husband almost punctured his foot when he was mowing the lawn because of two nail cartridges used in thenail guns that were left in our yard. We brought all of this to the ?project manager?s? attention and they were ignored. My husband and I were off the final 2 days of the job and agreed to be at home to go over the punch list with our ?project manager? while the painter finished the trim painting and deck staining. The first day the ?project manager? asked me to tell him at noon if the deck was dry. I was so I emailed him that it was and never heard back. I emailed again and was told they went to another job instead. The second day we waited around too and he never showed up so I emailed and he said he was not coming but we could go over the list with the painter. The painter was nice but seemed didn't seem to know anything about the history of the job or the concerns we had- he was just supposed to collect the check. So we had no one to go over the job with. We felt they did not care if we were satisfied with the job they wanted to be done with us. I am sure they will say we were difficult clients, but we just wanted the job done in a reasonable amount of time, what was stated on the contract to be completed, and for work to be done when they said they were going to do it. I don?t think that was too much to ask considering we spent all of our savings on this project.
Description of Work: Replaced rotten wood on house and window frames, caulked chimney, replaced columns and some rails on front porch, replaced triple door on back of house, removed existing stairs from deck and added 4' and a ramp to the deck, stained deck, painted new wood, scraped and repainted existing deck wood.

Overall, it went great. I felt comfortable with Justin after consulting with him in person and by phone + email, and I believe that Jacob's Ladder is a reliable company that is committed to serving customers in a fair and honest way. He was good at answering my questions to make sure I understood the services being offered and various options I had (e.g., inside vs. outside installation), along with the pros and cons of different options. The three-man crew was pleasant, responsive, punctual, and finished the job in a day and a half, as expected. Cost for installing 20 Simonton Asure windows, including a bay with one large picture window, was very reasonable. As part of their standard replacement window service, they took care of several exterior sills that were rotten and replaced with PVC before using trim-coil to wrap the exterior for protection. The only reason I gave a "B" instead of an "A" for quality is because the reduction in glass space was larger than I anticipated with these replacement windows, even though apparently the Simonton Asure is supposed to minimize glass space loss compared to competitor replacement windows. We are trying to sell our house, and one potential buyer even commented to their agent about the narrow window openings. Otherwise, the windows are very nice in terms of looks and function. Lastly, it would have been nice to know about options available with respect to the number of grids -- 4, 6, 9 -- ahead of time. We weren't given a choice in this regard, and were a little surprised when the windows with 4-section grids arrived. There may not have been any other choices in this particular window, given the sizes of our openings, but it would have been nice to know if there were indeed other choices, since we may have picked a different grid style. All that said, I think they look fine; we've gotten used to the 4-section grids, even though most other colonial houses in our area seem to have 6 or 9 sections.
Description of Work: Replacement windows for most of the window openings in our house. Total of 20 windows.

This project went very well from the professionalism of the intial meeting to wrapping up project. I was given references and an insurance certificate without asking. They kept me well informed as to when work would be done and when weather prevented them from coming out. They were able to schedule the work timely. The house looks great. I would definitely use them again.

Everything went great. The windows arrived in about a week and were installed in a day. The rest of the work took about 2-3 weeks including several days that they could not work because of the weather. Justin was our point of contact and he was always available to answer questions and solve any problems. After a few weeks we discovered several minor problems which he came right out and solved.
Description of Work: Replaced 13 windows that were original when the house was built in the 1950's. Tore off siding from an addition built in the late 1980's and replaced with vinyl siding. Wrapped the wooden exterior including the soffits and porch roof and roof of the front and back stoop roofs and painted the doors and shutters.

They were a little more expensive than other companies I got quotes from for the job. I actually had them come back for a second quote on expanding what I wanted done. I was pleased with what they did and I was most impressed on the follow up inspections they did to insure that everything was done correctly. They had a paint representative come and look at the doors when the paint did not cover well and then got different paint for the doors. After the job was mostly completed the company representative and I walked around and did an inspection (he was very through) and they addressed all issues with out hesitation, hassle, or excuses. Overall I am very happy with the work and would use them again.

I could not be more satisfied with the quality of the work performed. The dormers are located above the second floor of a 2 story colonial style office building. They came to give an estimate within a day or two of my request. Ordered the material and kept me informed of the time required to receive same. Window company provided the wrong windows and they caught it without any input from me. Arrived when rescheduled and completed the entire job in one day. I was so impressed with the way the worked turned out I had numerous associates join me outside the building to admire the quality of the work performed.

House looks great. We moved in about 2 months ago and the previous owner never sealed or washed the deck or washed the house. I thought the deck was doomed but jacob's ladder brought it back to life. They washed my house and deck and painted some exterior trim. I need to have them come back and stain/seal my deck but I can't decide on a color. I also cannot decide if I want them to paint my vinyl shutters or just replace them with new ones as I'm getting mixed reviews as to if painting vinyl shutters is a good idea since the front of our house faces south and gets full sun year round. Adan even fixed my shutters that were hanging off the house without me asking.

My intent is for this review to provide others information to consider when deciding who to do business with. I cover four areas and then provide a summary. The areas are as follows: Paint cans Windows Gutters Vendor personnel policies Paint Cans: Make sure the contract requires that all empty paint cans are maintained on the property until your project is completed. This is ensure that the paint you are sold is the paint that goes on your house, which is particularly important if you are not going to be there while the project is taking place. Here?s why: I was sold Duration paint, which is a top of the line Sherwin Williams product and expense. The men (5) started the project on a Friday and I saw the Duration paint cans. Saturday the men painted until early afternoon. They left a new five gallon of paint on the porch with the label turned away. I looked at the label and saw that it was a lesser grade. I had not been paying particular attention to the paint or the work up until this point. The following is the e-mail chain that ensued. You?ll note an unrelated issue regarding the painter?s professionalism, which I am leaving in for informational purposes. My e-mail? I see a 5 gallon bucket of SW Superpaint out there, which is not Duration. Please tell me what that is about. JL?s response? We spoke with XXXXXX about the 5 gallon bucket of Super Paint. Apparently, they went to Sherwin Williams to get the stucco color in Duration (7 gallons). Sherwin Williams mixed 2 single gallons of Duration and then the wrong 5 gallon bucket. We did not open it and are planning to return it to get 5 more gallons of Duration as the contract states. Another thing was brought to my attention that I would like to discuss with you. In talking with the guys, they said that you became very angry with them and began cursing at them yesterday afternoon. I am being told it had something to do with the threshold of the back door being painted and then you stepped on paint and tracked it in the house. I understand that this may be frustrating, but in no way was it anyone's fault. I cannot have my guys being treated like that. They are professional painters, who do their best and treat a customer's home like their own. Manuel does the highest quality work in painting homes as he shows us over and over again. Our goal at every customer's house is to do the highest quality job and treat the customer with respect. I would expect my painters to be treated in the same way, or I will not have them working in that environment. We are in the business of painting homes and do not take this opportunity lightly. We always work to fulfill the work that is laid out in the contract as stated with the utmost care and quality. My response and immediate follow-up? -Being treated like what? They see me coming in the door with groceries and don?t bother to tell me the threshold is wet? The storm door was closed. I was supposed to know it had been painted as I tracked paint into the house? Maybe it was because the radio was blaring or, like yesterday, they too busy charging their phones and what not on my house current. Sir, every story has two sides. And, yes, I was furious because there was no sense in it. -Two men standing on the porch watching me come in loaded down with groceries and neither one of them said a word about the threshold under a closed storm door being wet. I did curse; however, I did not curse at them, but in general as I believe anyone would have. JL?s response? I can understand that is a frustrating thing, but not something I believe needs to escalate. I know you and I both agreed that communication is very important so I appreciate your willingness to communicate. In construction work, not everything will go 100% smoothly but in the end, I know you will be happy with the work. I will direct the guys to not plug in their phones during the day to use your current. If we need to use an electric tool for anything, we will ask you before plugging in so as to receive your permission to use your current. Do you not want them playing music during the day? I know from experience that music helps as you work outside, but understand if you do not want this. We will also ask the guys to communicate with you if any doors or areas are wet with paint that you may walk across so as to avoid any issues again. My response? XXXXX, I had totally forgotten about it until you felt the need to dress me down. It seems professional painters may considered a wet paint sign? Prop the door open? Put a chair in front of it? Nothing on that whole wall is painted but the threshold. Nothing. There was a man not three feet away as I opened the storm door and unlocked the back door. Couldn?t he have told me it was wet? Groceries, dog, new shoes with paint all over them, paint tracked across my newly sealed kitchen floor, paint on the dog?s feet. Yes, I was angry. I did not curse your man, I cursed the situation. I know accidents happen and had moved on, but I did not appreciate your dressing down without having been here or having heard my side. Let it end here. I would like to see the paint as it comes onto the property so that I make sure there are no more mistakes as to what is being used. Thank you. After all this, I go out and poke around the paint cans and see in that addition to the five gallon of the wrong paint, there is one gallon can of it, too. I look at the empty cans in the yard and see that there is one out there (7 gallons referenced above), too, along with two empty cans of paint that I have never heard of that had all gone onto the house. A problem at the paint store that came in their truck to my house, onto the porch and that had started going onto the house? The men quit on Monday. Had they spent their a paint allowance on a cheaper paint and didn?t want to eat the expense of getting the correct paint? I don?t know. Get the cans lined-up. Windows: When your house is washed, your windows and screens will be trashed. Have the contract state who is responsible for cleaning them. I point this out because a competing quote stated that the windows and screens would be cleaned. If you do not have replacement/tilt windows and/or have a two story home, cleaning the windows can be a huge problem. Gutters: Google painting aluminum gutters and, like all metals, you will see that they need to be cleaned and primed before painting. Do not let anyone paint your dirty gutters without understanding what you are getting into. The vendor wanted to paint mine without cleaning or priming them. Thankfully, it did not happen. Vendor personnel policies: If you have an aversion to loud radios in your yard and/or workmen who plug their devices into your home to charge them up on your dime, get the companies policies on that in the contract. Summary: Angie?s List is an incredible tool that I have very useful, but, as the site discloses, you cannot rely on it 100%. A company can take a couple/few thousand dollars, hand it out to friends and family so they can join Angie?s List and end up with lots of ?A? reviews. I have learned, while a good indicator, company grades are not 100% reliable.
Description of Work: I contracted with JL to paint the entire outside of my home. I paid $1K as a deposit. The work was not completed. See below.

Awesome. They did a great job and Justin was very responsive to our needs. It snowed a couple of days during the project and Justin did an excellent job with communication on the progress and status. We had a couple of minor issues that were resolved quickly and beyond what was expected. I highly recommend them.
