Home Style Remodeling, owned and operated by David Clary, submitted a proposal to remodel a half bath to incorporate a shower for my elder mother. David had remodeled our kitchen several years earlier and we had a very good experience with him. David didn't start on job on time and then proceeded to appear infrequently on site over the next few weeks. David also asked for half of the job, $5750, at the time we signed the proposal. He assured my mother and my wife that the job would be completed in 8 weeks. With very little completed in six weeks, aside from plumbing work, which he subcontracted to a plumber, and some demolition and framing work, David asked for another check for $2750. My mother paid him. Two weeks later, with no additional work completed, David didn't show up for work. David admitted to me that he had spent all the money for the job on personal expenses and didn't have any money for gas for his truck. At this point, we had enough. David was not able to continue the job. David asked for another $1000 to continue. We refused and demanded that he refund my mother the initial $5750 down payment. Considering he worked less than 35 hours TOTAL in over eight weeks, $2750 was a very fair wage. David informed us he did not have the money. We have since contacted a lawyer. David has not refunded us and we are considering additional legal action. David Clary took over $8600 from a 88 year old woman and provided very little services. We had the work completed by another contractor. The majority of the framing David completed and corrected because it was completely out of square. Home Style Remodeling, owned and operated by David Clary, should not be allowed to do business. In addition, he has demonstrated a complete lack of ethics, on both a business and personal level. I would strongly recommend that you DO NOT CONSIDER David Clary and Home Style Remodeling for any projects. David will do enough to prevent him from being found guilty of criminal fraud, but will take your money and then claim poverty. What little work David completed on this job was substandard and basically useless.

This guy gets an "A" for his effort. He was just starting his business and mid way through his helper quit. I think we were one of his first customers. He did a great job and was very conscientious about making sure everything was done right. The owner's name is David Clary, and I would highly recommend him to other members. Basically when it comes to hiring people, you have to have people that you can trust to be in your home when you are not there and he is one of those people. I appreciated that about him.
