From start to finish, I was extremely pleased with the quality of work and installation! Matt Seay, initially came over to give us an estimate, and found him to be extremely nice and professional, as he did give us a written estimate, before he left. i received quotes from other HVAC companies, but because of Matt, and the fact they were installing a new Carrier system, was the reason for my decision. After doing my research on heat pumps, I felt Carrier was one of the gold standards in this industry, as well as receiving a 10 year warranty on this unit. They set a date for the installation, and they were here on schedule, and completed the job in 5 hours, and am extremely pleased. The installers, were friendly, efficient and terrific to work with. Ryan, one of the owners of the company, came by and checked the work, and made sure it was to our satisfaction. This entire experience was 1st class, and everybody at Short Pump Air, were terrific!!.....Thank you.

The crew of three men were sitting outside our house 15 minutes prior to 8:00 am ready to get to work. They had the new system running by 1:00. We are very pleased with the new system, they even threw in an extra large hypo-allergen filter. The workers were clean, friendly, quick and willing to answer all my questions.

I thought the baseboards needed water added. They produced no heat. The technician spent the time troubleshooting and found that a valve had been turned off. Instead of being a multihour and hundreds of dollars it was $150 and I have heat. I always feel like I have a friend coming over to help.

This company is FANTASTIC! We live in a new home where the HVAC was installed very poorly. We had faced numerous issues over the five years we've been in the house & finally decided, instead of another expensive part, that we would get a new system installed. We had several companies come out to provide quotes. I was impressed with their two year warranty, their professionalism & their communication. Their pricing was also right inline with the majority of quotes. We scheduled them for the install & the installers were punctual, polite & informative. I was particularly impressed when one of the owners showed up to check on the install & make sure things were going smoothly. That was some nice customer service. While they were here, they discovered that our downstairs unit wasn't working properly. They offered to top it off with coolant for free (!!) & see if they could get it working while they were here. I know coolant is probably cheap, but it was a goodwill gesture that impressed me. When we had an issue a few weeks later, they came out promptly & fixed it for us. Again, they topped off the downstairs unit even though they'd been called for the new install. The repair guy was just as prompt & friendly as the installers. SO impressed with these folks!

Short Pump Heating, Air, and Plumbing was great to work with. We have a Cape Cod style home with an addition and no previous central air. It was a complicated job and I was nervous about where all of the duct work and vents would go. Ryan spent a lot of time planning and talking to us and he came up with a plan that was not as obtrusive as I had thought. His workers were polite, punctual, and pleasant. The entire job was finished in just 3 days and we couldn't be happier. It also helped that they have a plumber in their company because we needed to call him out twice during the job. I highly recommend.

From the very beginning Short Pump was great to work with. The owner, Ryan, returned my phone call within in minutes of leaving them a message and it took no more than a day or two for their estimator to come out and give me a quote before he left. I got three quotes total and Short Pump was the best. I scheduled them to come out within a weeks time and they probably would have come out sooner, but I was the one who had a conflict. They called the night before to remind me they were coming and the 2 technicians showed up exactly on time (8:00am). When I asked how long it would take, they said they hoped to be done by 3:30pm. Throughout the day they were very efficient and polite and I further inconvenienced them by having some sleeping children in the upstairs in the afternoon. They finished up right on time and then came back the next day to make sure the system was working. All in all a very professional group.

Nightmare experience. I hate to write bad reviews and I wasn't going to but ultimately my experience with this company was so bad , it just forced my hand. After several attempts to fix my air conditioner ( almost 7 years old), I spent hours identifying the manufacturer and finding a person there who could walk the technician through the steps to diagnose what was wrong. Even though I gave "Short Pump" the telephone # of the manufacturer of the air conditioner the technician didn't call them. The first night he said the compressor was fine but the next day he said it was no good and decided that I needed a new unit- never talking to the manufacturer as I requested. So their technicians evaluated the enclosure and the apartment for the requirements of a new air conditioner and said it would be a few days. That got delayed and so I had to buy a portable substitute ( it was for a tenant in a condo ) . Now I was about $500 out of pocket plus the cost of the new air conditioner which "Ryan" said would be $ 6300. Approximately 5 weeks later they installed a new "heat pump" rather than an air conditioner. Ok I thought even though that's NOT what I had before ,if it works I will live with it. What followed was a sheer nightmare.!!Please read on.. Day one: Heat pump not working 84 outside 75 inside Technician came around and when I ask him what to do now he says and I quote "I don't know what to tell yer". Then he goes on to blame the ducts in the attic.to both me and my tenant. Telling me they could replace the air ducts ? Cha ching $$$$$ He slows the fan down and says they had put too much coolant in the unit, so he took some out. Day 2: Heat pump overheats and shuts down completely ? A different Technician comes around and puts a stand up fan in the shed outside to try and cool unit down? Says it needed more coolant in it and the fan needs to be faster.. yes the complete opposite of his coworker the day before. Day 3:Two techs come by with a piece of steel that they have hand made ?? to put around the exhaust fan inside unit ? when I asked for the part from the company they said they would order it. They didn't ! I told them that by not using the company part it would invalidate my warranty. They didn't listen.. So now feeling enraged I called another company ( found under my reviews) about inspecting my air ducts. This crazy behavior went on for 10 days, My self and my tenant must have spent at least another 30 hours with the sales person " Ryan" and his technicians, the problem was it just wasn't working, there was only a 8 or 9 degree difference between the outside air and the inside air and it was only in the high 80 outside, Also It never would shut off since I wouldn?t reach the temperature set on the thermostat (72 degrees). I was afraid of what would happen if it got into the 90's outside. Finally, I had had enough, I called another company and they came out inspected my air ducts( found nothing wrong with them, no leakage, no need for new ones)I also told them that I would like their opinion on this unit that had been installed, giving them the serial number from my older unit. I told Ryan that I wanted a second opinion about the situation, He insisted on coming by. I was exhausted by all of this but still willing to give them a shot at fixing their mistakes, I let Ryan and two technicians come over again. Picture this: all three men stood taking pictures , calling and sending pictures to the engineers of the manufacturer of the "heat Pump" they had tried to install, trying to fix it. a few hours later they came inside and" Ryan " said " well if you have lost faith in us I will refund your money " but added ( now scare tactics) " I would hate for you to go though this again". I told him that I had already contacted another company for a second opinion., and may get it changed to one that works- to which he said fine well just have them leave my unit on the sidewalk when they come. It was however a different story when I told him that I was doing it the next day (Friday), he said he couldn't make it, "it can?t be done until Monday". At this point I said "NO My tenant and I and the two technicians have already arranged for it done tomorrow" Finally he gave in and said they would come by early the next day. They did come by very early ( before other company arrived ) and whipped that unit out in 45 minutes. Up until this point I wasn't going to write a review. BUT what happened next made the decision easier. When installing the unit he had taken it upon himself to change my thermostat (without authorization- nothing wrong with it) and replaced it with a newer one....Cha Ching $$ more money .. Now because He was taking his unit out , He proceeded to Cut the wires to remove the thermostat. My tenant asked for my old one (it wasn't old at all) and he then said oh haven't got it..so because the tenant had caught him he left it hanging on the wall....talk about VINDICTIVE. he had already inconvenienced me and my tenant, not to mention the $6800 in cost. This is when I decided to write this review. "Short Pump " air I see has many good reviews but my experience with replacing my air conditioner was disastrous, a complete nightmare. I will never use them again... Another company( can be found in my reviews) replaced this unit the next day and cleaned my ducts out a few days later. They did an Excellent Job!! With No problems whatsoever. Talk about a night and day experience.... I was reluctant to write this but I don't feel I'm doing anyone any favors by not writing it. L. Rothwell & R Chiteman

We were pleased with the entire process and the price.

I thought it was reasonable. They just don't carry the particular type of HVAC unit that we wanted to use. They were professional and polite. They were prompt and responded quickly to my inquiry. I would ask for a quote in the future if I needed to.

Ryan and company were just excellent. We called for help with an older hvac unit and problems with moisture and possibly mold coming from the old metal vents in our bed, bath and office area. We had at least 3 hvac "pros" in previously and none came with solutions to actually remedy the issue. Ryan didn't come with "the solution" but actually spent time talking with us and walking around the property, both inside and out, to come up with a viable option. Expensive option was to replace the aging, but still very functional Carrier unit and reduct (in a very tiny space) to the tune of probably well over $15k. The solution was obviously much less and he suggested leaving the older duct work and system in as a backup while sealing off and replacing the older vents. This also leaves the next home owners with the option of going back to the duct system and removing the newer wall mount system. The Mitsubishi unit, by the way, is not noticeable at all where they installed and it's better than anything I could ever imagine. Air quality is dramatically improved as the air doesn't have to circulate in our attic. Gone is the moldy smell and it's also about 30% cheaper to run than our old system. Great solution. As my husband said, "finally someone bringing a solution that makes sense". Great value, really professional, honest, nice people. Definitely recommend!

Short Pump responded immediately, and provided a quote within hours. Although they weren't the cheapest of the three, I felt most comfortable with them. They even came out to assist with an older install/repair from several years prior.

The whole process went very smoothly. Everyone was very professional and courteous from start to finish. The office personnel are very professional, helpful, friendly, and courteous over the phone. As promised, the field techs showed up early in the morning and on-time to start the work and completed the work within the time estimated. Workmanship is excellent!

I saw an Angie's List ad for $2,500 for an A/C system installed by Short Pump Heating, Air & Plumbing so I called over there to see how far away they are. They said they don't have such thing as a $2,500 A/C system installed and they don't service my area which I found ironic because I saw it online. He said it cost that much for the parts and he's not paying for labor. I was just calling to see because if they are plumbing I wanted other quotes on the kitchen and other things I was working on for other projects. Essentially I didn't have any resolution with them although they did reference someone else that is near my area and were courteous on the phone. I want other people to know they are not going to offer that to everybody and the price special they are running is false advertisement. I was very upset about that. I would consider using Short Pump Heating, Air & Plumbing if they honored the price that was offered.

Excellent! This is the first use of Angie's List after signing up yesterday and the first recommendation for SHort Pump Plumbing systems went very well. Very pleased in the service and responsiveness. Would recommend Angies list, Short Pump Plumbing systems and Phillips work and professionalism to anyone.

Initially, I called in the afternoon. They gave me a date/time of the next day in the afternoon. I had to verify the dat/time was ok with the tenant. I called back but got the answering service. They said they could come out that night. The technician called and said he would be there in a little bit, but would charge an additional fee (since it was classified as an emergency). Which was fine. He came out and fixed the problem (lack of 2 pounds of freon). I thought the price was reasonable (especially considering he handled the problem so quickly). The only negative was he refused to honor the angie's $50 coupon. He said he was unaware of the coupon details.

2013 May: First off the office was very nice when I called in. I told them I found them on Angie's list. Our AC on our main floor had went out completely and the weather has changed to 80 degree days. Our AC on our bedroom floor still works (thank goodness!). They came out the next day. I thought that was pretty good. The guy arrived past his window time. He said there was a leak outside our house in the AC. He explained the unit would need to be replaced ($$$$). Then he said he would put in some freon to keep us cool for a week or so. He charged us $295. The freon did nothing. We have been sweating our butts off since he left. 2014 May 14 Update: we did replace unit and our contractor to our house told us...yeah they normally last 6-7 years. I gave them a bad review last year and later found out what they did was correct. I think I was just mad they arrived late and I was hot! I called at last minute so I guess I cannot complain too much. We ended up replacing our AC unit. Ugh! So we are using them biannually to check out our whole house which is great considering our house is over 9,000 sq feet. They checked electoral connections, amp draws, capacitors, contractors, cleaned system and changed filters. Also their biannual checks are transferrable so if you sell your house you can either give it to the new owners or transfer to your new place. They are always professional and wear their shoe socks.

Very pleasant and professional. Work to be done in two days from this review so will have more to write after it is completed. Besides having an air conditioner replaced am also putting a gas line in for stove. Price came in just below another one. Since customer service and approach to determining what needed to be done was basically the same we chose the least expensive. We worked with Matt and Chuck. Very satisfied so far

They made appt and came to the house ontime. They called us ahead of time, were very clean including wearing covers over their shoes, etc.

We had contacted Short Pump along with many other companies for estimates. The sales reps were very friendly and easy to deal with. They came to our house several times to answer questions. Once the decision was made they scheduled a day for the installation and showed up as expected. They arrived and removed the old unit and installed the new one. The work was clean, and the new unit is great.

I was very pleased with Automatic Climate. I was able to get an appointment quickly, and the technician who came out was friendly and professional. He was quick and efficient with both the dryer vent cleaning and installing a new air return on our third floor. He discovered the reason for our third floor being hot all year round: the builder dry walled over where the duct goes into the wall -- exactly where an air return should have been! The technician made quick work of installing a return for us -- he even had to run out and get materials to do the job, but he was back fast and wrapped everything up just in time so I wasn't late for work. I was also impressed that after the HVAC duct audit (which was free), he didn't fabricate any 'problems' just to get more business. He told me all was ok (except for the drywalled duct/need for a return, which I already expected - we knew we needed a return up there.) I would highly recommend Automatic Climate!

From my first call i received very nice and friendly service. It was a busy week and i was able to get scheduled for the next Monday. I received a call on Saturday asking if I wanted to have the service call taken care of that day as they were trying to catch up from a busy week. This worked out great so i didn't have to rearrange my work day. Technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk too. My issue was fixed and since the service was great i went ahead and purchased a yearly preventive maintenance package, no pushing on.

Our central heating would not come on one Saturday morning. I am not a regular customer of this company (have not had any heating/AC issues since we moved in 7 years ago), but they were willing to come out that day. They explained the difference in charges for weekend vs a weekday service call. We had firewood and a wood stove to keep us warm so we decided to wait until Monday. They arrived during the time they said they would and quickly determined the problem was a fault relay switch. They had the switch on their truck, fixed it, and our heat was back on within the hour. I was very pleased with their service and will not hesitate to use them next time!

Setting up an appointment with them is very easy. They call as they confirm on the day, but there are times that they do not do that. They are very courteous, and explains a lot of what they are doing. They explain what the problem was, what caused the problem, and what should I be looking out after I fix it. Their price is very reasonable. I had a great experience with them.

We had them replace our propane heater with a heat pump. They also replaced all the duct work in our crawl space. They arrived at the appointed time each day and we never had any problems with them. They did a great job.
