Don has worked for us several times in the past. Our relationship with him is such that when we have a need for an electrician's services, we call Don. Depending on the magnitude of the job, we may or may not ask him for a ballpark estimate for his work. He's always been more than fair with us. For these two small projects, we just called him and arranged a time for him to do the work, he came, he did it, and, true to form, he was more than fair with us. 1. After the exterior lamp pole was was moved and the wiring rerouted by the paving contractor's electrician, the lamp did not operate properly from the switch inside the house. He tried to fix it, it still didn't work properly, so we got Don on the phone who tried to walk him through it. Eventually, Don had to come out and do the rewiring correctly. In doing so, he not only found the original electrician's mistake, but he also found the wiring used was INDOOR wiring and not the correct OUTDOOR wiring. So, Don replaced the entire installation with the correct materials. 2. As part of the driveway area rennovation, we ordered two identical new light fixtures to replace old & outdated light fixtures at entrances off our new driveway. When the new fixtures arrived, Don came out and removed the old fixtures and installed the new fixtures. In both cases, we didn't ask Don for a quote, we simply called him to schedule the work. He billed us when he was done.
Description of Work: Don performed two projects;1. As part of a driveway installation project, our entrance sidewalk needed to be rerouted. As part of the entrance sidewalk rerouting, a yard lightpole needed to be moved and electric cable rerouted. The paving contractor's electrician botched the electrical work. Don corrected the work using the correct matierials as it should have been done in the first place. 2. A few weeks later, as part of a new project, Don replaced two exterior entrance door overhead lighting fixtures.

We moved into our house in September 2008. We knew the kitchen needed some refurbishment, e.g., granite counters, marble back splash, undercounter lighting, new cabinet hardware, etc. We felt it prudent to live with the kitchen for awhile before making any quick decisions about what our new "look" should be. Meanwhile, we started planning. In late 2009, we contracted with what is now Davis Design Company, Brian D. Davis, www.davisdesigncompany.com, 804.928.7729, to do the work. Brian Davis is a very accomplished and meticulous craftsman in his own right and carefully selects the craftsmen who work on his projects. Don's Electrical was one such hand picked talent. Don's initial requirement was to perform the work described in #1, above. As the job progressed, we found that Don was very professional and good and skilled at what he does. Plus, his workplace is spotless, he's easy to work with and fun to have in your home/workplace. Later, when we found we needed the additional electrical work described in #'s 2 & 3, above, we immediately called Don and asked him to do the work. For this additional work, we were so comfortable working with Don, we simply asked him to come do the work...we never did ask him for a price quote...and he was more than fair with us when the job was completed. Don prides himself in his punctuality, but if something comes up that prevents his meeting his scheduled arrival time, he calls to communicate his situation, etc. In other words, he's communicative and doesn't leave you wondering where he is, how late he might be, or worse yet, wondering whether he's coming at all. As an owner, we can live with information, but we can't live with silence or lack of communication. Don is good at keeping an owner informed. Don's a great person to have as our "only" electrician. He's welcome in our home anytime.
Description of Work: 1. As part of a kitchen refurbishment, Don rerouted and installed electrical wiring including lighting, outlets and switches, all hidden under existing wall cabinets. He also installed wiring, lighting and switches for a small built-in pantry. He also wired and installed a couple overhead "can" lights. 2. In a separate installation, Don entered under-house crawl space, routed wires from power source to a wall adjacent to a fireplace and installed a duplex switch outlet box. 3. In yet another separate installation, Don routed wiring and installed two duplex outdoor floodlights on the back of our house, then ran the wiring to a wall switch adjacent to the switch for the small built-in pantry addressed in #1, above.

I've used him before and I love him. He is a really nice guy and I feel totally comfortable being home with my two small kids with him here. I also feel comfortable leaving him here by himself if we need to go out. I would definitely use him in the future.
Description of Work: I used Don's Electrical Service to fix a closet light.

Wonderfully! Don is an "old school" craftsman who treated our home as if it were his own...in a very good way. He kept us informed as to when he could/could not come, even if he was enroute and going to be a few minutes late. His work is professional and impeccable. He discussed our project plans very thoroughly, asked questions and offered very helpful suggestions that we never would have thought about. Then, when we had agreed on the project's specifics, he planned his work, then worked his plan. When he was done, the work site was as spotless as it had been before he arrived. And, oh, I almost forgot, his prices are incredibly reasonable and he's scrupulously honest. He is welcome in our house, even if we're not able to be there, any time. He is our "go to" electrician before we'd consider calling anyone else...and we're very picky.
Description of Work: As part of a kitchen refurbishing, Don installed undercabinet and pantry low-voltage recessed lighting & a new "down light" can over the sink. Later, as part of a redecorating project, because he was so wonderful to work with on our kitchen project, we called Don to install a new wall electric outlet in family room & a 3rd set of outdoor floodlights.

He walked in and did what he said he was going to do. It worked the first time and everything was good. He was recommended by my neighbor, who is a carpenter.
Description of Work: I used Don's Electrical Service to do the electrical work for my water heater. He also upgraded my electric from 100 to 200 amp service.

The family room ceilings are textured. He was very cautious in not causing any unnecessary holes and making a clean look. He was the lowest estimate in comparison to two other companies. I was so pleased with his services and I will definitely rehire him. The cost was broken down for the recessed lighting at $675, 6 outlets at $435, and the replacement of the kitchen light fixture being $75. This included labor and materials with the exclusion of the kitchen light fixture. I truly felt comfortable being home alone with him. He is a very genuine, honest person. This is a second job for Don.
Description of Work: He installed 10 recessed lightings in my family room and 6 new outlets in my basement. He also changed out an old fixture and replaced it with a new kitchen light fixture.
