We wanted a nice easy local move. The team was early based on the original conversation. Things went south from there. They were deliberately slow, unprepared, and incompetent. Movers were nice, capable, and experienced. Obviously, subcontractors who were being used for low overhead. Two consequential points, first phone representatives were deceptive. Second, the movers were not with proper equipment. We paid $260 more for TOMCO due to bad industry and company practices. We chose the company on a referral from a good friend. In fact, I am pretty sure I know Tom Mitchell, owner. He seems to be an upstanding individual, but I feel cheated!

Worst movers ever--movers were not professional, in other words did not know how to properly move and pack. Enough men were not sent for job. Furniture and packed items were broken; walls and floors damaged. Floor protection was requested and promised but was not adequate. The job took much longer than promised and there was less to move than originally estimated. Furniture damage was repaired but that was little consolation.

My initial contact was great. They showed up on time (8AM sharp), had 4 young, healthy and experienced movers and a supervisor. Everything went well loading my stuff at my old address. Unfortunately, the unloading was a nightmare. Two older gentlemen showed up around 2:30. They had called me at 8 am to say they were 15 minutes away, but they were really 3 hours away in a different city. The driver had punched in the wrong address in his GPS. They were in the correct state, but that was it. I ended up with two guys struggling for 6 hours to get my furniture and boxes into the house. If I hadn't carried 30% of the stuff in myself, it would have been another two hours at least. My walls and railing are all banged up and they broke a couple of pieces of furniture that had been moved a few times before without any issues. I called the boss (Brian) the next day and he was indifferent to put it kindly. I paid $4200 dollars for this experience and wish I had given my money to somebody else. I guess "the Other" means that you get one service on one end and "other" at the opposite. There are plenty of movers in Hampton Roads. Pick someone else.

Excellent. This was a very professional move with no breakage or issues of any type. The price was very fair and this is the second time we have used them. I highly recommend them.

Flawless execution. The Other Moving Company sent a two-man totally professional team to execute the move. The team was very knowledgeable about moving delicate, large fine furniture. Everything was properly packed and protected, moved to two new locations, and properly unpacked and installed. I will definitely use them every time I need something big moved safely. Very reasonable pricing.

The team worked well together. They asked questions as they worked so all instructions were clear. As a single homeowner who is downsizing, things can be very hectic and confusing. I was very appreciative of their patience and willingness to listen to my concerns. These guys are A + in my book!

They arrived on time, were courteous, took great care with wrapping all items and the following week returned and set up the furniture and there was no damage. They were careful but at the same time got the work done quickly that reduced the cost to us.

The office staff was friendly and efficient, and I spoke to Brian Hudgins, who discussed details of the move with me before submitting an estimate. The crew arrived on time, surveyed the items to be moved, then immediately began wrapping the furniture and carefully loading items on their truck. They were friendly, courteous, and efficient. I ended up having to move more furniture than originally estimated, but the final invoice was still very reasonable. I definitely will use these movers again if the need arises, and I recommend them without reservation.

Did not have resources to get all of these items moved so called on these guys to come in and get it done. Four of them showed up, I showed them what needed done and I never heard another thing until they were done. They left the place spotless, all the equipment was gone and they were fast and quiet about. it. I have used this company repeatedly and they are always top notch. Prices are always very reasonable as well.

Although the crew arrived a little late, they managed the move very efficiently, and were finished in good time. They worked carefully, and were courteous and helpful. The office staff was easy to reach and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend The Other Moving Company in the future.

Went fairly well. Some damage to lamps and a sewing table. Many unloaded boxes were left in the wrong place, I've, upstairs room boxes left in garage. Some strange labelling of boxes, totes for suitcases....

The move was great! Men where very professional and friendly.

1. The estimator arrived on time and provided a written estimate via email within two days. 2. The company kept to the estimate even though the actual move took place three months following the estimate 3. The packing crew arrived on time, were courteous, friendly, efficient, and most importantly careful. They did not skimp on materials. They carefully disassembled and wrapped furniture items that other movers had simply shipped as is. 4. They asked me when I wanted the van to arrive at my new home the next day 150 miles away and were there on time. 5. Like the packing crew the transfer crew was courteous, friendly, efficient, and careful. 6. They laid quilts on the recently refinished floors of my new house so as not to track dirt or scuff the finish. 7. They reassembled each piece of furniture that they had disassembled. 8. Not one item was lost or damaged.

I was given stevens for my military PCS. Permanent Change of Station. The people that packed were about the best this company had to offer. The had a second group of people do the loading. They were a few hours late saying there was a mix up in the paperwork. So then they started rushing and broke my desk before they even got everything loaded. They ripped a door off its hinges and scratched my hardwood floor. I own that house I had to leave. So I had to repair it myself seeing as how I was leaving in 2 days to drive to Millington, TN from Virginia Beach, VA. I didn't repair the floor. It's just scratched now. The company asks me if I will take my goods on Labor day. I agree to it. They tell me on the paperwork that I need to be available between 0800-1700. They tell me my things will arrive between 08-10. Sunday night the driver calls and says he hit construction and would be late. Between 10-11. Mind you I made this drive twice in. A week because I have 2 vehicles and did a partial move myself. I know how long it takes to include hauling a trailer loaded with 3000lbs with my 99 dodge ram. It took me 15.5 hours. I didn't stop to sleep to get to the final destination. Anyway at 1130 the driver calls me again to sat he got pulled over by a state trooper on the highway 100 miles out and he is receiving a random truck inspection. Finally at 1430 I get a call to escort them onto base. This company is paid by the military to pack, load, transport, unload and unpack our belongings. He didn't want to do that either. And when I said they had to unpack this guy took all the boxes not labeled for dishes and dumped them upside down. I posted all the photos. I have a large bookcase broken, two small shelves broken, a desk broken harware missing and there are piles of things on top of each other to sort through for me to get through the entire claims process. They ran out of floor room and didn't finish unpacking everything. He didnt want to put my desk together because he said they dodnt know where the hardware was and "it's a claim anyway". They left around 2100 because I couldn't take anymore and they kept asking to leave. When handed me the paperwork he wrote unpacked to satisfaction and asked me to initial it. I one lined satisfaction and wrote in "if by 'unpacked' you mean boxed dumped on the floor in the wrong room, then yes 'unpacked'". I've called to complain. I will be filing a grievance and clearly claiming all damaged or lost/missing property.

We had never used a moving company before so we had no idea what to expect. We were so pleased we chose this company after getting quotes from two other national companies. I really cannot say enough good things about the men that came into our home and how hard they worked to get the job done, I HIGHLY recommend this company, and will use them again in the future.

I checked several times with the moving co to make sure that they understood what needed to be picked up at the consignment shops and they let me know that it would be no problem. They picked both corner cabinets and neither twin bed. As a result I had to pay someone an additional $300 to have the twin beds trucked in to Easton. I called the owner of the company to try and get reinburst for the $300 I paid for the additional move he said he would pay it, I have yet to see one penny.

The owner, Brian, his office staff and their moving crews were the most polite and professional people that we have ever met. They treated our furniture and other belongings like it belonged to their own grandparents. They left our house in Virginia Monday afternoon around 2:30 PM and delivered it to our new home in Georgia Thursday morning. They are BEYOND extraordinary and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again (although as recent retirees we hope to stay put for awhile) or to give them the highest recommendation possible.

My interactions began with filling out a detailed online form of what I wanted moved. Where that form went I cannot say as the person who arrived to provide an estimate for the labor hadn't seen it. However, I don't think that's too much of a problem. The wife and I packed the house ourselves, which I will return to in a moment. The team arrived on time, and ready to work. After a quick briefing as to what was going to happen they got to work. The move went well, with them placing boxes in the areas the boxes were labled for. There were a few items placed in the wrong room, but at the prices they charge I was not going to use up more time for them to fix it. And tat does bring me to what could be potential issues. They will pack a house for you, however be prepared to spend hundred of dollars more for that. To pack a single book box will add another $8 to your total. Larger boxes of course cost more. I believe a large box is $20 to pack. These fees are in addition to the labor fee. Which I believe was $50/hour/person. So if a person can pack say 10 boxes in an hour you are paying $150/person per hour that they are packing boxes. So I'd say use them to do the move, but pack yourself unless you just don't like having money.

I send a detailed list by email the next day. I wait to hear but did not so I called a week later. Was told Lilie was in a meeting but would call me back. Called again on a Saturday but was told Lilie was not working that day but they would leave a message for her to call me Monday. Well she did not. I called Wednesday and got recordings that they were busy and would get back as soon as they could. They did not. I called one last time two days later and left a message that I was really disappointed that no one bothered to call me. I don't know why. I told them if they they did not want my business they could have just called and told me. They did not. So now weeks later I am still looking for a mover. Sad thing is they came highly recommended from two people, I wonder how they got them to do the work?.

No one showed up for the appointment. I called the office at 9:30 a.m. and was told that someone would follow up with me. I called back at 10 a.m. as no one had followed up with me, and was told that even though they had all my information about current location and moving location, they didn't have me on the schedule for an estimate. They offered to make an appointment for another day, but I declined...I would not trust that they would show up.

Given a lack of follow up to date from The Other Moving Company regarding these listed concerns and most importantly the claims forms that have originally been filed 2months ago and now resubmitted twice, I have taken these concerns to the main company, Stevens World Wide Van Lines. I hope that their involvement will help to find an acceptable resolution to my submitted claims. I have been left with approximately $1000.00 in damage. This is not to mention the irreversible damage to many items with sentimental value. My reported concerns are listed as follows: 1. There were many miscommunications between the moving consultants, which required many phone calls for follow up and to establish a packing, loading and unloading dates. 2. On the packing day and loading day, the packers and loaders came late and appeared rushed throughout the day. They overlooked many items. They left many things for the next day, without a solid plan established for actually packing the items. For example, the packers were not aware their company was actually scheduled to load the truck the next day. They left a lot of packing to be done for the loaders. The loaders were not prepared for this and did not have the proper supplies. For example, the packers left on the day of packing with the intention to have the loaders bring mattress boxes. Despite being listed on the moving plans, these boxes were still not present even on the day of loading. The mattress’ left on the truck unwrapped and unpackaged much to my dissatisfaction. Once more to my dissatisfaction, many items were left unpacked and loose with the loaders intention to and quot;wrapand quot; the items. All these items were delivered broken, damaged or otherwise lost without any follow up or reimbursement to date (2months after the move). 3. The loaders were required to reload the same items onto another bigger truck at the main moving site. This extra handling of items lends to increased risk of damage to the property and could easily have been avoided. 4. The delivery has been the worst part of the process. The driver and one of the assistants were dirty and smelled of tobacco smoke and urine. The driver was rude, unprofessional and overall inappropriate in verbal and physical mannerisms. The driver raised his voice on multiple occasions and said unacceptable, hurtful statements, such as and quot;I wish I never came here or met you. I hope to never return here againand quot;. These statements did not need to be uttered on any circumstances. The driver and at least one crew member mishandled the property directly in my site. Despite instructions to be careful, the driver was sloppy and careless with the property resulting in damage. The driver was inpatient and demanded the check prior to signing any paperwork or taking the time to help locate missing boxes and items. The driver refused to give any copies of the paperwork or to sign the paperwork himself. This required a phone call to the main line in order to determine a resolution to these problems and to redirect the driver's continued hostile and belligerent behavior. Despite the company's promises to determine where the property could have been lost or mishandled, I have yet to hear any follow up to date. I was simply left with claims forms to fill out and instructions to take pictures of the damaged property. 5. I did proceed to submit the claims forms; originally submitted 4 days after the delivery date. Now, almost 2months after the move, on phone call that I personally initiated to the moving coordinator at and quot;The Other Moving Companyand quot;, I was instructed that the moving coordinator had never received the claims forms. Essentially, this moving coordinator who had been so very interested in doing and quot;everything in [her] power to make this move rightand quot; had no follow up on claims forms that she was to have received almost 2 months prior. 6. Instead, the only communication that I have received from the moving coordinator has been an email in which she requests copies of a and quot;lost Bill of Ladingand quot;. The moving coordinator's email did not follow up on any of my reported concerns, instead she requested a copy of the Bill of Lading for proof of payment and claimed that I may have “all the copies”, despite the fact that the driver had left with a file folder full of paperwork. In my opinion, there is no reason for this question to even be posed to the customer and clearly once more demonstrates the disorganization in and quot;The Other Moving Companyand quot;. 7. Despite the moving coordinator's many promises and quot;and quot;to do everything in my power to make this move rightand quot;, she has yet to follow up to date. During my phone conversation with the moving coordinator, she made no mention of her promises to determine follow up on my missing items and any mention of her discussion with the owners regarding my discontent with the move. She has no comments or answers regarding her lack of follow up with me and blatant disregard for my dissatisfaction with the move and her empty promises. In my opinion, this clearly represents poor customer service. I have contacted the president of The Other Moving Company twice and have now contacted Stevens Worldwide Van Lines. I have sent these claims forms to all individuals in an effort to gain an improved follow up with an action plan to resolve my listed concerns and most importantly to complete the claims process. Overall my experience with “The Other Moving Company, Inc”, has been worse than poor. At this point there has been no resolution to any of the problems reported during this move. I would absolutely NOT refer The Other Moving Company to anyone. ADDENDUM and middot; The amicable resolution to which the company president refers, is a full return of my claims request in return for completing an amendment or retraction of my review. To be clear, my claims request simply covered the property which could in fact be replaced and did not cover the lost items (lost boxes did not have an itemized inventory of contents, therefore no accurate claim value could be placed on the missing items); the claims request did not cover property that cannot be replaced; the claims request did not cover sentimental property that had sustained irreversible damage. Furthermore, in my opinion this type of request to amend or retract my review in order to receive repayment of my claims request would be categorized as bribery. and middot; Even though I remain appreciative of the company president’s alleged 2 day involvement, the fact remains that his interest only became peeked once he had gained knowledge of this poor review. I cannot believe that he remained ignorant of my many levels of dissatisfaction with his company during these past 2 months. The unprofessional behavior, the lack of follow up, care and attention given to my property from his associates remain ever present. and middot; Given the return of the claims request, I have changed the price rating from an “F” to “C”. My overall impression of this company remains poor.
