We are happy with them. A lot of my neighbors use them too. I guess the price is pretty standard around here. We have a contract, so that may make a difference.

They would get straight "A"s all the way through. It takes them about a half an hour. Sometimes it's under warranty, and sometimes it's not.

For the last 15-years, PHA took care of my semi-annual HVAC maintenance. First on two Trane systems in Hampton, then on another brand when I moved to Williamsburg in 2007. I was consistently impressed with their service technicians’ knowledge and skill. When my aging heating and air conditioning system was ready for retirement, I gathered estimates on four top brands and weighed price, Consumer Report ratings, and reputations. I opted for a slightly less expensive brand with another company. Then my downstairs unit quit on a hot day almost 3-weeks before the installation date. I called the company and asked if my installation date could be moved up but they did not call me back with an answer. I wondered if this lack of responsiveness was a harbinger of things to come. So I called PHA because my maintenance agreement was still active with them. PHA came out the next day to fix it if possible, or loan me window AC units until a new system could be installed. This level of customer service convinced me to stay with PHA and get the Trane systems instead. PHA’s Senior Installation Technician, David Massengill, and his team spent 3-days doing a very thorough job of installing two furnaces in the attic and two AC units outdoors. They are clearly well trained and pay attention to detail. For example, my old outside AC units sat on a 4’X6’ raised deck that needed to be 18 inches longer for the new Trane units. Instead of adding a mismatched extension, Mr. Massengill removed and completely replaced all of the deck boards so the entire platform looks new. The PHA installation team was very polite and kept the house clean while they worked. It makes me doubt if other companies could possibly do such a careful a job when they say they can install 2-systems in one day. PHA’s responsiveness and desire to keep me as a customer after all those years really impressed me. I am very grateful to have a Trane. The air quality in my house feels different now and much better. I am thankful every day and know I made the right choice.

We first met this company a couple of years ago when we needed a/c repair. At that time the technician advised us that the discount offered with their yearly maintenance plan would more than offset the cost of the plan, since they would discount the required repair accordingly. Since the repair cost was reasonable (he gave us several options, advantages/disadvantages of each, and costs involved with each) we decided we had nothing to lose by going with the contract. I don't generally go for service agreements but this one has been great; they don't just show up and do a quick rote check. They really do service the system when they come out. This most recent check, the technician was there for almost two hours and there were no up-charges or recommendations for additional expenditures. Our system has been running extremely well since we have had the PHA maintenance contract and regular system checks. Aside from that, these folks are simply very pleasant to deal with. Once we "no-showed" their technician due to my having forgotten to record the appointment, and they were gracious and kind about it, could not have been nicer, and did not penalize us in any way. Whenever I call to schedule services they are easy to reach and efficient. We will definitely use them for any HVAC needs we have from here on in.

To begin with I called them and explained what I needed. An hour later a guy appeared, examined my present system, and gave me 2 systems to choose from. I chose one, and he called a week later to make an appointment for installation. Workers arrived on time, spread tarp to protect the floor, installed the equipment, hauled away the old unit, and cleaned up. Two guys were here for 7 hours and left everything neat and clean. After a few days I noticed that the variable speed blower wasn't operating as I expected. A man came out promptly and adjusted some switches. The system operates perfectly now. Sure is better than my 16 year old unit, and it's more efficient too.

After they gave us a price for a new air conditioner, we decided to get a second opinion. The next company came out and looked at the problem and said that 2 wires had been disconnected. They reconnected them and fixed another problem. We don't feel this company was honest with us and we think that they disconnected the wires so that we would have to buy a new compressor.

It went extremely well. The technicians arrived when I was told they would. They were competent and considerate. After the job was finished they made sure I was familiar with the new thermostat and the air handler. When my second heat pump needs to be replaced, Peninsula Heating and Air will be doing the work.

My aging geothermal heating and air-conditioning system quit heating on a Saturday morning during a very unusual cold period in February (temps in the teens, snow, ice, etc). Although I'm on a Peninsula Heating and Air (PHA) contract which covers me for emergency services, I waited until Sunday evening to leave a message asking them to schedule me as soon as possible. (Since I have a good wood stove and it was such a cold period, I figured some people - especially elderly - probably needed heating services worse that weekend than I did). Anyway, the PHA Office Scheduler called me first thing on Monday, and was able to send a technician the same day. As always - I've had PH&A servicing my system for about 4 years now - the technician called when he was on his way, arrived right around the scheduled time, provided very professional services, and took the time to explain to me what he did, and how my system was doing overall. Many HVAC contractors advertise that they do geothermal heating systems, but I've found that only a few have worked with geothermal systems long enough to know how to MAINTAIN old systems. PHA is one of those - and their service can't be beat. I highly recommend them.

They came out originally for the program offered by Virginia Power to check duct work for free. They canceled twice, first time because their current project was running longer than expected and they couldn't get out to us that day. Second time because their only technician who does this kind of work was sick. I was then skeptical of this company until I read the positive reviews about them on Angie's list. So on the third try, they came out to complete the VA Power work. We then asked them about re-doing the existing duct work on our house to better circulate the heat in the house. They gave us a complete diagram of what would be involved and a quote in price. We were on the fence about going forward with the project. A month later they called on a Friday and left a message saying they'd be in our area Monday if we wanted to get the project done. That pushed us to finally make a decision and go for it- they completed the work in a timely manner. So far everything is working ok and they told us if anything goes awry to give them a call back. We haven't had to do that yet. The final price was exactly as they quoted.

When I purchased a new home in 2013 I knew who I was going to call to replace my whole heat and a/c system, my parents and I have been using peninsula heat and a/c for almost 20 years. The staff is knowledgeable and they come to your home when you have a problem, not like other companies you have to call again and again. The system works great and is very energy efficient I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone

We needed them to come on a Friday, and they were able to accomodate us. In order to finish in 1 day, they brought in two crews. They recommended that we put in air returns that included filters and put those in at no extra charge. They were efficient, neat, professional and very polite. They completely wrapped the unit in the garage and everything was neat as a pin when they left. The unit works beautifully. We could have gotten a cheaper unit, but went with the Trane, which this company installs. I would highly recommend them.

I purchased a used home in Gloucester Va.. During the winter I noticed one of my heat pumps was getting icy, the other was not. I read online that this was usually a sign of low charge and that the best time to service my heat pumps was during warmer weather. I found receipts from Peninsula Heating and Air in the files I received with the home so naturally I went to their websitte to make a service appointment. This was the first week of April. I submitted the online request form with my contact info AND all the information on my climate systems. I never heard back. In early May- I called them and the were very courteous and knew the system I had in the home. They changed the information over to my name and said the soonest they could get in to service the syetem would be July 3rd. I left work early July 3rd for my 3pm appointment. They called about 2pm and said the tech was sick and couldn't make it. I laughed as it was the day before the 4th of July and she said they would call me Monday to re-schedule. They didn't call, so Wed. I called them back and they scheduled me in for the next Tuesday (the 16th). When she hung up she said See you next Tuesday- which my mom used as a cuss word- so I KNOW it was Tuesday. I took off Tuesday morning for my 8am appointment. They didn't show up. I called the office at 9:07AM and the woman that answered the phone asked myname and address. She said she doesn't see any appointments for me on the schedule, then put me on hold. An older lady then came on the phone and said my appointment was scheduled for the 17th (Wednesday) at 7:15 (first appointment of the morning) Obviously trying to cover for forgetting to write down the Tuesday appointment. I said OK and took off work th 17th (Wednesday). I even got my ladder out so the tech could access the air handlers in the attic. Well- 7:15 comes and goes. At 9AM I called them and cancelled the 7:15AM appointment. I can't comment on how the services they provide are- but getting them to show up is a nitemare. I am using another company who answered the phone and was actually happy to talk to me. I explained my experience to them and the girl on the phones response was "yea- we hear that alot"

Every aspect of installation and communication was professional and timely. Each bi-annual check-up is also professional and every employee has been. Polite and conscientious. I highly recommend this company for anyone who needs heat and air work.

They are probably one of the best. We have used them for the last 15 years and we have always had really good service. I would highly recommend them. They stand behind their work. The quality of service is good. Their service reps are excellent. They sell good products. We haven't had any problem with them.

The maintenance technician was polite. Wore footies while in the house to keep the floors clean. Finished quickly and answered questions when he was finished.

They were very professional in every way. They took careful measurements to ensure that they could find equipment to fit the tight space. They showed up when they said they would, offered us window units until the repair was completed, put down protective covering on all the rugs, cleaned up every day. I got estimates from 3 companies. They were the only ones to price out different options. Even their highest alternative was way lower than the other estimates, and their guarantees were better. A problem surfaced with the old switch shortly after they were done. They were there the next day to check it out, and replaced the switch at no charge. I would highly recommend this company.

In addition to performing quality work in a professional manner, they went above and beyond to resolve a complaint that was a result of a misunderstanding, proving to me that customer satisfaction is a high priority. They even followed up with a personally hand written apology letter. I was impressed! I do recommend doing business with them. I most certainly will again.

They are very good. They were here in three days. They did a fantastic job. They are very fast and provide very nice service. I called them and a person came the next day to check and give a quote. They then did the work within three days. I liked the technicians who were here. They were very friendly and very clean. They were very careful with my house. They were very nice and professional. I paid them so much because I bought an expensive system. I also have a service contract with them. They will come in for a check twice a year of whenever I call them. I am very satisfied with them. They said they would be here at 8:30 and were here at 8:25.

Gave us a reasonable quote. Came in on time and finished in the time frame promised. No problem with the work done, quality all around.

Three different crews from PHA were here between November 7 and December 16. First they removed and replaced the old heat pump with the new unit. This took a couple of weeks, longer than either they or I initially expected, but necessary because our house is old and access to equipment in the crawlspace and attic was very awkward. While the one crew was wrestling with the heat pump a second crew installed the insulation in the floor. A couple of weeks afterwards, when the generator we ordered came in, a third crew delivered and installed it. The initial install took about a week, then a propane supplier installed the gas tank. After the county inspected the tank, the PHA crew came back for the installation completion and final county inspection. Each member of the three work crews were very professional. Indeed, this is the attitude of everyone from the company with whom I have had contact. These people have an impressive work ethic and they were very particular and meticulous in doing the job to the highest standards. I am extremely pleased with the products, service, and level of workmanship provided, and highly recommend PHA to any and all.
