The Roofing Company

The price seemed a bit high but that was my only problem. We were having seriously leaks but we haven’t had any since then. They were punctual and professional.

Did a very nice job with the new roof. Although their quote was higher than other vendors, we chose them because we had done business with them previously and were satisfied. Discovered the next summer that the attic solar fan is totally inadequate for the square footage of the attic. Wondered why our electric bill was rising monthly. Also, is positioned on the side of the house that doesn't receive sun in the afternoon, therefore, fan does not run during the hottest part of the day. The vendor came out to check the fan and installed a new motor, thinking that was the problem. In the course of the visit, the technician told us that the fan was really inadequate for the size of the attic. We contacted the owner attempted, this summer, to negotiate a compromise with the vendor for installing an inadequate fan but they were unwilling to compromise. All we wanted was some recognition that they are the experts and never should have installed such an inadequate size fan. We weren't asking for a full credit for the solar fan installed two seasons ago, just some recognition and compromise on the price for installation of the appropriate size fan. Basically, the owner was totally fixated on blame versus providing any kind of a compromise and told us to take our business elsewhere to resolve our problem.

We moved into our home in July of 2006. A tropical storm rolled in at the beginning of September and revealed to us that the 15 year old roof on the house that we had just purchased was shot. Water was blown under the shingles in a number of spots on the roof. We asked folks at work if they could recommend a good roofing company and the company folks kept mentioning was "The Roofing Company Inc." We had to wait a couple of weeks to get an estimate because the wind from the storm had damaged a lot of homes in Hampton Roads. About two weeks after our estimate, the actual work began. To the best of my recollection, the work only took about a day and a half. The half day was due to the fact that we had rotted roof decking. The Roofing Company representatives that we dealt with were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Their rep was able to answer all of our questions about roof replacement, types of shingles, differences in price quotes that we had received from other roofing companies, and warranties. After the work was done we regretted that we had chosen the 3-Tab shingles instead of the Architectural shingles that the rep had recommended. The Architectual shingles look a lot better and are more durable. I recommend that you spend the extra money and consider it an investment. We have contacted them since this work was done to get estimates on other home repair and refurbishment projects. The Roofing Company exceeded our expectations.

Sales representative was very professional and knowledgable, didn't try to pressure you to make a commitment, offered three different estimates for three different levels of service. Installation crew showed up on time and got right to work, finishing quickly and doing a thorough cleanup. Very impressed with overall experience and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to replace their roof.

Went as expected. Supervisor came out for an estimate. He was helpful, very courteous and a cool guy. To get to the point, the bid was higher than others and he was a salesman. But the price isn't the only thing I was making my decision on. By the salesman comment, I mean he pushed a bit more than I like. I've done this exact type of work and just needed my questions answered and facts handed to me. I had told him that during our meeting and walk around of the potential job. One of the last statements he made as we were closing the estimate meeting was, "So when do you want us to come back and start?" I just don't like that kind of tactic. It makes me think there's a reason they need to push customers into a decision. I just don't like that way of doing business.

I had got four estimates for the job. They were very quick in response and gave me a detailed break-down. They were professional. I had a phone conversation with them. Their price was the highest of all the quotes that I got.

Excellent - I will call this company for all my planned remodeling!

The project was done logically in steps. Company provided all details and answered all questions concerning what was to be done, why, and at no time pressured for a specific option. Rather, the options were explained thoroughly. From intial explanations to follow-ups to the actual crews working on the house, we were very satisfied. They provided details, which we were definitely in the need to know with such a large expenditure and again, they respected this. Their concern was two fold- that we understood what was going to happen and why. This is quite different from a company that is primarily interested in profit. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone having this work done. One last thing, our neighbor is a retireee from "GAF" (company that makes roof shingles). he told me that he watched the roofing crew from beginning to end and was very impressed by their work. We were too, but having his comments is certainly a testimony as well.

They are very thorough and cleaned up the work area well. However, I feel it was a high pressure sale, which I didn’t like.

Did a very good job. Original construction did not use the proper size flashing. Company removed all of the old flashing and installed new flashing and calked. During their estimate visit, they looked everywhere for any signes of visibel moisture to insure that there were no other problems. This was the second job I have used The Roofing CFompany.

Their work turned out really well. They were really quick to provide an estimate, but it did take a long time for work to start. Overall, I was satisfied.

Their work turned out great, and I was very happy with the results.

When weather permitted and it was not raining, after about 5 days; they called me early in the morning. They said two advised men would be at my home in about thirty minutes. They were there and the work was done.

They are very professional and knowledgeable. I?m very impressed with them. I would use them in the future.

We chose The Roofing Company based on past experience/usage but I would agree with another reviewer that they have fallen in performance, in our case, considerably. After initial estimates April and committing to the work in June, the start of our project was supposed to be in mid August but was delayed and finally began in late September. The reason given was other jobs had taken longer than planned, lack of crews, etc. After my experience I'd guess it was poor project management as we ended up with our third project manager for the job. Here are examples of issues we experienced over the 8 months it took to complete the project: - Measuring and remeasuring the gable vents for the order process and a claimed delay in their delivery - Products to be installed were delivered to my home without notice: all the porch materials were in cardboard boxes and were delivered on the day it was going to rain. I was lucky to be home and insist they be placed in the garage as the work did not begin until days later (management issue again?) - Work order paperwork that did not match the paperwork the workers had - No-shows on days they were supposed to work - Aluminum window wrapping that was so poorly done that the guy who did it never came back to work on our house - Direction to installation an obviously flawed product (bad paint job on the shutters); the worker pointed this out to me and I had to call to get them pulled and replaced - Very poor worker-to-project manager communications (never let the customer here you bad mouth your supervisor) and visa-versa - Delay after delay in getting the job?s punch list satisfied (poor window caulking, loose railing parts, loose shutter screws, etc.) and yet no delay in requesting payments for the work - And finally?months to get one final shutter screw installed even though the job had been paid in full The well-dressed salesmen were followed up (eventually) by disorganized workers with poor leadership and questionable work ethic. I would not recommend this company.

They were very good. I had gotten a new roof with another company and I had to have them stop the work because of the work they were doing with the flashing. The price was kind of expensive. The quality was excellent. They were very meticulous and planned the job. They asked a lot of questions to make sure that I would be satisfied with the end product. The contract was very specific so I knew what I was getting and it turned out just that way. I would recommend them. They are more expensive than most.

Overall it went well. The job was finished in less than two days. The wrap, gutters and downspouts look great. However, the workers did not put anything (such as a tarp) on the ground to catch the old gutters and downspouts. As a result, when the gutters came down many small chips fell off all over the lawn! In addition the contents of the gutters also came out over the lawn. Further, small items such as nails were left on the lawn. Originally no one cleaned it. I showed it to the company representative who went around the house with me and picked up some of the debris. I have been around the house about four times by myself, trying to pick up most of the trash but it is so small and so numerous that hand picking will not do the job. As of 30 January 2011 I still have debris on my lawn.

It went less than I expected. I thought they could have done better on some follow ups. I had some problems and not that hard to et along with. In fact, I think the guy that was supervising the job, I wouldn?t be surprised that he would just quit. When he did, no body called and nobody came back for a month or month in a half. I still owed them money and they hadn?t finished the job. I figured I could wait and see how long it takes. I finally got a call from a guy who was up on the roof at one point of the job. His name was Justine and he said they dropped the ball on me, and I agreed. After that Justin came out and finished up the work and he left. We are happy with the roof and the support pillar that Justin put in. It all got put back together the way it should have been. The big disconnect really turned me off. They called me several times and I didn?t want to talk to them. I still don?t want to talk to them. The price was fair. The quality was good when I could get them to do it. I would use them again in the future, but not until after several other estimates.

Got estimate on 11/10/10 and signed contract with salesman on same day. I had gotten another estimate for around the same price, but this company was more professional. Had to pay 1/2 price down payment. I signed a form to allow them to work on my roof even if I was not home. They completed the work on 12/6/10. The work was done over two days. The first day, they did some preliminary work on my chimney. The next day, they finished the chimney work and repaired my valley. The salesman told me they would not be able to match the old shingles, but it is hard to tell the difference.

The best thing about them was that they called for an appointment and they were here when they said they would be here. There was no waiting around for them. The price wasn't great but it wasn't bad wither.

The work was satisfactory and the work was done well. I was surprised they used a subcontractor for the gutter work. Another thing I didn't like was that the price was high. They were very professional though and I'm not sure if the price I paid warranted the work or not, but it was a good job. The crew that did the actual roofing work were not technically employees of theirs.

Jason and his crew arrived on time, quickly completed the repair work, then cleaned up the work site before leaving. He would not allow me to climb up the ladder to take pictures because of company policy/ liability reasons, but he did take the pictures for me. Jason was exceptionally good with communications...he called the week before to set up a convenient appointment...then on the designated day he called several times to appraise me of small changes to his arrival time. The overall cost of the job was on the high side, but the professional execution of work made it worthwhile.

They have great customer service. They also have a very knowledgeable sales person, which is actually why we hired the company. He took my husband up on the roof and showed him everything in great detail. We are satisfied with the job. As a whole the roof looks great except for one little corner isn't as perfect, overall we are very happy. They were efficient and did a good job. Actually, to my surprise, they came back about a couple of weeks later after work was done and took care of the corner that looked a little off. Very nice company to deal with. NEW UPDATE 02/04/11: Well, I would much rather to have no more need in any update here. But unfortunately our roof ?story? is not over yet. I have to tell the main reason why we did the complete re-roof instead of some patch work. We had an incompetent plumber who did an awful job installing a tankless water heater and he, basically, damaged the roof. After meeting with The Roofing Co. representative, at his recommendation, we hired a professional to reroute PVC pipes for our tankless water heater before any roof work was done. The same The Roofing Co. representative looked at the done work afterwards and approved it, so roofing crew came a few days later and put the brand new roof with the 5 years labor and 30 years shingles warrantee. Imagine our surprise and, to put it mildly, disappointment when sometime in the beginning of January we accidentally discovered that our brand new roof is leaking around the new water heater PVC pipe. Not to bore you with much more unpleasant details, which may be enough to raise anybody?s blood pressure in our place, a very nice project manager from The Roofing Co. came and put some seal around the problem area. We will see what happens. We?ll keep you updated.

Overall, they were very good. There was a little bit of a problem in communicating with the supervisor who was overseeing the actual work. The sales people were great. The workmen who came in were very quick and efficient too. They were very professional other than the communication issue. The price charged was a typical price. I would use their services in the future too.

They did an excellent job for us. When we contacted them initially, they got right back with us. They sent someone out to the house to see what we wanted. They got back in a couple days with an estimate. They started about a week later. They came on time. They did it in exactly the time they said they would take. They did it in about 2 days. The people were very polite and professional. They stayed within the quote. I thought they were very efficient. They cleaned up after themselves. They didn?t leave a mess. That is why we asked them to look at doing some additional work for us. I am waiting for an estimate for some addition work.
