Description of Work: I have been a customer for years. Outstanding customer service. I had some metal flashing come off from high winds. Fixed it immediately.

Description of Work: We had a leak above a window upstairs in our 2 story home. Had The Roofing Company come out and perform a "water test". They confirmed they located the leak. They re-wrapped and sealed the entire top front of our home around 5 windows in less than 6 hours. Next rain, we were still leaking after a $2000 repair. They refused to open a small dormer above the window "that was leaking" as it wasn't in the scope of the project. Had another handy man come out and open the dormer by cutting an 12 x 12 hole in the ceiling. The leak was obvious and we had Patriot Roofing install a completely new roof with GAF shingles for $7,000. Leak was fixed. I wasn't happy that it was so easy to open a 12 x 12 foot hole in the ceiling where the dormer was located & they were more more concerned with the "scope of project" rather than locating the leak.

Description of Work: This began as an Angie's List "big Deal." The splash stated: $5,949 for a Complete New Roof with a Lifetime Warranty! The Roofing Co Original Price: $11,000.00 Your Price: $5,949.00 You Save: $5,051.00 (45.92 %) My wife immediately called the vendor as the deal represented a 45.92% discount. We had gotten an estimate from this company about two years before but deferred on the work. We were able to make an appointment with Chuck Simpson at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday 23 June. He arrived on time and spent two hours going over his previous estimate and creating a new estimate. At the outset my wife asked “Is this discount on only the first $11,000.00” (i.e. a fixed discount) and he replied, “No the discount applied to whole job including upgrades,” thus it seemed they were offering a 45.92% on the whole job. He also said he had just heard about the offer and would have to check with the office on details (e.g. stock shingle). At the outset we knew that our roof was larger than the allowance by about 40% (30 squares versus 18 squares included in the Roofing Co. offer) but we also believed that all the increases should not be linear. Prior to seeing the time limited “big deal” we had gone to Angie’s list and looked at the top 20 rated local roofing companies. We selected (in order by Angie’s rating) Jayhawk (#3), Stevens (#4), Best (#6), Bevins (#11), and Andrews (#17). We added The Roofing Company (#8) after seeing the “big deal”. In order to compare “apples to apples” I built a spreadsheet of features from each proposal. There were some constants in the job. The work would include the extra expense of asbestos removal, confirmed by lab analysis conducted by at my expense. Second each company would have to use the same number of squares to cover the roof. In order to keep the variance in offers to a minimum I specified what I wanted from the GAF product line of roofing materials: The following proposals were tendered: The Roofing Company - offering an Angie’s List “Big Deal” with a 45.92 per 45.92discount $17,034.61 Bevins Roofing $ 15,160.00 Jayhawk Roofing $14,700.00 Andrews Roofing* $13,300.00 Best Roofing $10,113.00 During the discussion with the Roofing Company sales representative, after seeing the proposed offer of more than seventeen thousand dollars I asked “Are you saying without the Angie’s List Big Deal the non discounted price would be more than thirty thousand dollars?” He replied “Yes.” I can only conclude that The Roofing Company was looking to both generate leads and find customers foolish enough to get only one bid. I would warn Angie’s List customer when the Big Deal seems to good “it probably is!” I have gone to some time and effort to gather the documentation to support my contention. It is my hope that you will provide your Southeastern Virginia customers with information to indicate the nature of this use of a “Big Deal.”

Description of Work: Re-roofed the whole house, installed edge venting around the entire perimeter, installed a whole house ridge vent, replaced sheathing as required. Job took one full day. The crew was outstanding!!!

Description of Work: REPAIR WORK ON ROOF

Description of Work: Replace plywood that was cut way too low for ridge vent on house. It was a wonder the ceiling had not leaked sooner. The home inspector and agent never even caught this on the inspection. Dave Phelps came out right away and quickly identified the problem. He coordinated the crew to come out and repair the roof. Jesse was the lead guide on the project. He was very professional and prompt. Displayed professionalism during the entire process and kept me abreast of the progress. I will definitely use the Roofing Company again and will recommend them to my friends.

Description of Work: After their estimate, and after estimates from other companies, we chose another contractor to replace our roof in early spring 2008.

Description of Work: Solid plank siding and trim.

Description of Work: They tore off all the roof and gutters and installed new roof and gutters.

Description of Work: They did some minor repairs to the roof to stop leaking. They replaced some shingles and replaced the flashing.

Description of Work: They put a new roof on my house.

Description of Work: I had a new roof with architectural shingles put on my house. I had the high end roofing system with the 110 mph and 15 year plus warranties. All the flashing and collars were replaced. The new flashing is copper. They also put in a copper rain diverter. I also had them take off the old gutters and do a considerable amount of carpentry. There were rotten fascia boards and soffits that had to be replaced. There was also a lot of rotten planking that was replaced. I interviewed four companies before hiring The Roofing Company. They were by far the most knowledgeable and explained things ahead of time. They were also the only company that talked about the necessary wood replacement. The roof looks fantastic and I have received several complements already.

Description of Work: I contacted The "The Roofing Company" for a proposal for flat roof replacement, installation of gutter guards, installation of a storm door, and replacement of a casement window. I waited two weeks for a representative to visit. One week after the visit, I phoned and asked if a proposal would be provided. Two weeks after the visit, still no proposal. I have given up on this company.

Description of Work: Tear-off two layers asphalt shingles from second story farmhouse, re-roof with 25 year shingles, replace any bad plank decking.

Description of Work: They removed our 15 year old roof and replaced it with 5 sheets of plywood and 3-tab shingles.

Description of Work: We had a leak, so they shingled a ten square foot section and also replaced the miter caps on my roof.
