My Mother hired Perry Jr to cut down one tree in her yard. He took her money and never completed the job saying he was ill with Vitamin D Deficiency. PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE FOLKS! God bless them.

Perry Mendel and Perry Mendel Jr will make an appointment with you, they come to the house and give you a quote to cut your trees. Then they write up the contract and request a deposit. They put the contract for a week out, this way they deposit the check before the job is done. By the time you realize that the check is cashed and you call them, they do not answer the phone nor do they return any of the phone calls. They never show up to do the work. Now you still have the tree in your yard and they get away with your money. I found this out too late, but they pulled this scam on a couple people in the Hampton, VA area. They move from home to home, so not even the police have a verified address for them. If anyone is thinking about hiring them to cut their trees, my advice is to skip them and go with someone else. My recommendation is to do a google check, and a Facebook check to see what type of people they are. They make their living scamming and conning people out of their money. Their tree cutting names are Lumberjack Tree Service, Magician's Tree Service and Fayes Tree Service. They are true scammers.

We hired Lumberjack Tree Service to remove six trees from our yard (three from the front and three from the back). They were supposed to cut down and section the trees, as well as grind the stumps. They required full payment up front. As we had narrowly missed some major damage to the house during a windstorm, had an important trip scheduled, and because they were the best estimate we had gotten, we went ahead and hired them. The three trees in the front yard were cut down and sectioned, but the stumps were not ground down. The three trees in the back yard were limbed, but they never returned to cut them down. When we attempted to call them on multiple occasions, our calls were never answered or returned. After about three months of attempting to get in touch with them, both of the phone numbers we had for them were disconnected. Our money was never refunded and we are going to have to hire another service to come and finish the work that we paid them to do. My husband had to grind the stumps in the front yard himself to prevent damage to our home's foundation. We tried having BBB resolve the matter (either refund half the money or complete the job), but Lumberjack Tree Service was unresponsive to them as well. All in all, it was a truly horrible experience.

We contracted with this company for removal of 4 dead pine trees. They insisted on getting half the payment upfront. We did pay them half. They started the work, and demanded the rest of the money, because we were going out for the day. They said they will be finished before we get back in the evening. We later found out that as soon as they received the check, they went to the bank, cashed it, and took off. The 4th tree that needed stump removal and grinding, was left undone. We made several calls, with no results. They are simply ignoring our phone calls. On the day they demanded the 2nd part of the payment, they literally blocked our car from leaving our driveway. Since we were making an emergency trip, we did not think clearly, or had the time to reason with them. These people should not be operating a business.
