My house suffered a plumbing disaster in mid-June 2014 resulting in a tremendous amount of water damage. When the adjustor arrived on June 17, she brought in a sales rep from Carpet Gallery. I was told that he would take care of all the arrangements and that I might choose any floor as long as it was comparable to the old one. I specifically asked if I could get a nailed down floor. In addition, because the dining room had no separation from the living room, that floor was to be replaced as well. The sales rep informed me that the "floor was the last thing to be done" (not true, the millwork cannot be done or the wallpapering, and all my downstairs furniture is in storage). He told me he would call me on or before July 17th and we could go over flooring options; he never called. When I--after several days--called, he said he was still getting samples; he repeated that for the next call. Finally--as all work is at a standstill in my house waiting for the flooring--he told me to go to the Williamsburg store and take a look at options myself. I grabbed a purse and hurried over. The showroom was open (unlocked), but no-one was there. When the clerk returned 20 minutes later he immediately informed me that he could not help me because I had not made an appointment and I did not know the exact measurements. He then went and talked on the phone for another 20 minutes while I waited. As I looked at the floor samples I noticed that none were priced (is this normal?) Later when I asked him for specific prices he told me "it depends," I don't know" or the manager would have to look up the prices. He then called the Hampton store to get the dimensions. When he returned, he told me that if I wanted a hardwood floor, it was going to cost me considerably more. He said the most I could afford was flooring less than five dollars a square foot and that he did not think that anything was available. At that point--in tears--I left. I called the Hampton store and told them I would not be doing business with them. Twenty minutes later I received a phone call from an somewhat apologetic person saying he would be back with me "first thing in the morning" with a proposal. By 10am (no phone call again) I was annoyed enough to go to another flooring store. This store gave me a cup of coffee, showed me dozens of samples of floors that fit my budget, arranged every detail--including the installation date (next week! Yay!), list of instructions, and everything else. The floor is solid wood--nailed down--I am even able to afford the premium underlayment. It is my guess that Carpet Gallery learned the dollar amount and did everything it could to keep as much of the direct payment as they could. They attempted to replace the floor with a floating floor, and I never was able to get a firm price on a single bit of the materials.
Description of Work: These people were provided by my insurance company (State Farm) to install a new floor in my dining room and living room at approximately 475 square feet.

While they talked a good game, once the install was completed, and the errors in the carpeting were noticed, this Company went into hiding. While the seller is not the manufacturer, they represent the product. Milling errors in the carpeting should have been seen prior to installation. These errors should also have been noticed by the installer and communicated to all. Neither was done. Frantic phone calls to the seller were not answered. We wanted the carpet replaced, which they agreed to accomplish, after all the furniture was being moved in. Calls for a reduction in price went unanswered. Basically, the sellers rep "Randy" disappeared. No satisfaction here

They did excellent work and used good quality materials and I didn t really have any problems with the carpet. The guy running the crew was snotty. The crew was used to doing new empty houses so they expected the house to be empty of furniture when they showed up. They showed up way earlier than they said they would. It was suppose to be done in two days and it took three days. After day two, they left the family room half done with the carpet half rolled up.
Description of Work: They pulled up the old carpet and installed the new carpet in my living room and dining room, family room, hall, three bedrooms and three closets.

The carpet these guys put in looks very good. They took their time and got the room measured correctly so when they did install the carpet, everything went very smoothly. The price was great for the type and quality of carpet that we had installed in our home. We were very satisfied with this company.
Description of Work: They installed high quality carpeting in our den, it is a very large den.
