A team was sent and diagnosed a bad motor. Motor had to be picked up 1 1/2 hours away the next morning. Since weather was VERY cold, they left space heaters for our tenants to use, and replaced the motor the next morning. Way above and beyond excellent service

The 2 workman showed up on time, and were fabulous. They were extremely careful with the appliances, made sure everything was installed and working correctly, and cleaned up after themselves. I haven't received that level of professionalism in many years.

Two employees arrived promptly on time. One worked, the other just stood there. Could not determine why the unit was malfunctioning. Ran a diagnostic program on our thermostat. Unit was working again when they left. Malfunctioned again the next time we turned the unit back on. (Couple cool days in between) installed a replacement external thermostat, $56 (a luxury, not necessity) that we did not ask for. Billed for travel time to and from their office. If that is your policy you should inform your customers ahead of time. When I questioned why the labor charge was so high, and told it was the travel time, the gentleman in the office told me he had given me a "discount" the real labor was $300, I was billed $260, and told me only 3 people had ever questioned their billing for travel time. Guess I'm just cheap. My hvac system is now 12 years old and I expect to replace the entire system soon, but if the service visit I received is an indication of what I would get, I won't be calling Hodges and Bryant.

They did a great job.

They are very good. They're a little higher than the other ones I use. They are on standby and my tenants call them.

There was no cost for the parts, but there was a cost for the labor. They handle my home and my rental property. They're prompt and they take care of it right away. I always think it's a little expensive. They charge an hourly rate. Unfortunately, this was one of the things where they had to sit and wait for a long time for something to happen. So it cost a little more, but you've got to pay for what you get. I use them all the time. They're very good, they're very prompt and very professional. Promptness is very important too.

I am so impressed with this service provider. They are extremely prompt at responding to service requests (the last call was after 4:00 pm on a Friday). A plumber was sent on Saturday morning. I received a call over the weekend to provide update of their findings. I feel like there charges are fair/reasonable.

I was out of town and my girlfriend was staying alone in the house and called to let me know the showers were backing up and the toilets were gurgling. She called Hodges and Bryant, they came out on a Saturday without charging insane weekend service fees. There were roots growing in the sump for the septic system, which they were able to cut away. It's been about a month since they were here and everything has worked great since. I will definitely use again, and I highly recommend them.

Excellent experience. We have used H&B exclusively for our plumbing and heat pump work for the last few years. They are extremely responsive and do what it takes to get your problem resolved as quickly as possible. Good communication about options or if it can't be fixed within the same call. In this instance, the issue was a bad control board and the part was still under warranty years after heat pump purchase. But the amazing thing is we didn't buy the heat pump from H&B. We purchased it from another vendor before we started using H&B. H&B determined the part was still under warranty, handled the acquisition of the replacement part with the manufacturer and all the associated paperwork. The part was overnighted and installed the next day. Meanwhile H&B were wonderful enough to haul our heavy old window unit A/C out of storage and put in the bedroom so that our senior dog would be comfortable overnight during the record breaking heat. We've been in this area/house for almost 20 years and have used cheaper options but learned you get what you pay for. H&B: dependable, responsive, courteous & performs quality work that they stand behind!

Danny personally answers the phone, every time I call, and has someone here to assist on my project or needs that morning. The service they offer is reminiscent of days gone by. Truly above and beyond excellent and fair prices. All his team are prompt and professional.

They were so fast and did a great job. The floor was finished sooner than expected and they worked with my schedule to get the water heater put back in place. They did a wonderful job and it was much less than I thought it would be!

Servicemen arrived on time and quickly investigated and solved the problem. Since 2002 , when I moved into this house, I have used Hodges & Bryant for all my heating, air conditioning and plumbing needs resulting in excellent service solving my problems with in very reasonable prices each time.

Plumber quickly addresses problem & cleared initial damage. Rerouting pipes to keep freezing from further damage.

I called on a Thursday morning in the middle of a snow storm. I had no heat. They sent someone out that day. I was a little concerned that I would have pipes freezing since I did not think I would be able to get heat back until the following week. They came out and diagnosed my heat pump problem. The tech told me that the service manager would get me a price together and call me later that day. I got a call just over an hour later with price and availability. To my surprise they told me that the part was under warranty and that they could repair it the following day. The manager sent someone back out to loan me small heaters to keep things from freezing until they could come back out. I was not sure that I could afford a costly repair. The manager explained that he wanted to get my unit up and running and that he would work with me on the bill. I was expecting a large bill but it was only $525. They came out and made the repair the next day. They cleaned up behind themselves and did a wonderful job! The entire staff from the techs to the manager and office staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable!

The belt broke in the evening and the next morning, Hodges & Bryant service men were here to fix it. Outstanding. I have always used Hodges & Bryant because they are prompt, trustworthy and this visit was no different.

Hodges & Bryant is a wonderful business! They have always fixed all of our problems from Heating & Air to faucets! They have always been very professional, very timely, honest and hard working! I would highly recommend them.

I purchased a NuTone HVAC system from Hodges & Bryant, Inc. in June 2011. The first call was later in 2011. I had no functioning A/C. A repair person came and repaired that problem. In April 2014 the coil went bad and had to be replaced. The coil was under warranty but the labor, freon, etc. were not under warranty and I was billed $335.77. After a number of phone calls, I told Danny McCloud, Mgr., at Hodges & Bryant, Inc. that I absolutely should have not been billed for the defective NuTone HVAC system he sold me. Mr. McCloud finally agreed and I did not pay. On December 28, 2014, my electric bill tripled. I called Dominion Power to see if I could pin down the problem. After a long discussion with a lady at Dominion, I decided it was probably the NuTone system. I called a different repair service at that time since Hodges & Bryant, Inc. had not been able to keep it running without a number of repairs. This different company found a hole in the discharge line. I had that repaired at a cost of $863.30 for labor, freon, etc. On February 1, 2015 I was awaken at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning with a loud clanging. I got up, turned the NuTone off to keep from waking the neighbors. Hodges & Bryant was closed on Sunday, all day. I called Peninsula Heating and Air conditioning, the other business that I had recently had to work on the NuTone. That company called me back on Sunday. After discussion with that person, I found I could turn the electric strips on the NuTone and get heat. On Monday morning, February 2, 2015 PHA came out and found the compressor had gone bad and had to be replaced. The estimated cost for that was over $2,300. I decided at that point to have PHA install a Trane HVAC system for me at a cost of $8,006. I wrote a letter to Hodges & Bryant, Inc. asking for a refund of $5,200, the original cost of the defective NuTone HVAC system. As usual, there was no written reply from Hodges & Bryant, Inc. The matter has been turned over to their law firm. The law firm stated that Hodges & Bryant, Inc. would not refund the $5,200 I asked for. As a side note, I did not ask for a refund of the approx. $1,000 I spent over the 3-1/2 years I had the NuTone. I only asked for the original cost of the NuTone, $5,200.

It took a day for them to get someone here, but it was not a major emergency we just couldn't use the kitchen sink due to a large leak. They were on time, and fixed it well, it's been 1.5 years and have had no more problems with it.

Danny, their manager, made sure the work got done since we were living 150 miles away. Hodges and Bryant has been doing our repairs on our home in Gloucester, Va since 1988. They show up, do the work as agreed to, are neat, make sure their work is completed to our satisfaction.

They crawled under the house saw the problem ordered the part. The cop any sent them the wrong part, and they had a prayer meeting with the company for not sending correct part. Needless to say a part was found in my area that afternoon and an exchange was made to be my part so that I wouldn't have to be cold!
