$400 is for the annual service fee. The "emergency" visit was "free" due to the service contract; today's visit was just made part of our bi-annual service.
Description of Work: Had an “emergency” over the weekend wherein our septic pump alarm kept going off (3 times) and this NEVER happens—so it was, as intended to be—alarming. Our service provider, HatchCo, was contacted but probably could not be out until Wednesday morning earliest, but calmly explained that we were OK, and there was no imminent danger, that it was probably “back fill” runoff water due to the heavy rains. I was comforted, but also wanted to call someone else to get someone out quicker; however, she did tell me that someone may be able to come out today & would let me know. I asked that they call ahead of time because I work almost 30 miles away. Well, later today my phone rang, and they were indeed able to come out ! So I went home & I wanted to bet there to see what was going on, to learn about the system. Well Bob was the gentleman who was there & he explained everything, and luckily, nothing appeared wrong at all, all systems working as designed, but noted that 1) our septic tank’s cap was askew a slight bit (maybe the lawn mower hit it or something) so heavy rain water could indeed flow in there; and 2) our drain field in the back of the property was still quite damp, but also is covered in blackberry bushes—he advised to possibly clear it out, but to ensure any saplings do not take root because trees in that area can severely damage the drain pipes (it’s a drip system). So although the alarm going off is a rare occurrence, I feel better now knowing that our systems (we have aerobic alternative system, so there is a blower, a septic tank, then another tank with a pump, that pumps to pipes in the drain field) are working fine & feel empowered learning about the system & given advice on how to prolong its life. Very satisfied with the prompt & courteous response.
